      Originally from coastal California and have lived in various states around the country until moving here 21 years ago. I didn't like PHX initially, but it grew on me. During summer, we scramble to visit family on the California coast, especially during the period July - October. Weekend trips up to the mountains (Flagstaff or Pinetop) during the summer are also a nice break from the heat. Beach time in Rocky Point ("Puerto Penasco) during late Spring or early summer, and in the Fall (late September and October) is also great (3.5-hour drive from PHX). June is the best month for hanging out at the pool - the overnight low temps have been high enough for long enough to heat pool water to more comfortable temps, plus the daytime highs in June (statistically the hottest month in PHX) are hot and the humidity is still really low, so it's a pleasant experience. Once Monsoon season kicks in (typically after July 4th), humidity increases (with daily high temps well above 100 degrees) and being outside is an unpleasant experience. By July, most Phoenicians are doing their best to spend time as much time as possible indoors in air-conditioned environments until October when things begin to cool down.

    Great summary! Happy to hear you're enjoying Arizona.
    Born in Minnesota (Paul Bunyan, Mississippi River, and big summer bonfires 😅) and I have been in Arizona for over a decade now. Will never leave! Shorts and flip flops 365. You can't beat it.
    FYI, I don't think you've experienced a proper monsoon yet. Or try getting stuck in a haboob. 😉
    When I first moved to AZ, I was in a one-bedroom luxury apartment for $695/month. I looked the other day, and that same apartment is now $1825/month. Let that sink in.
    Arizona sunsets! 👏🌇

    i agree with the cost of living part! i live in colorado born and raised and it’s so expensive lol. so many people have to leave bc of the cost of living is insane! my husband and i are moving to arizona next year and we can’t wait! the weather, the cost of living, the environment and the culture are all reasons we are moving. my husband hates snow at this point and arizona is where we are going to get away lol

      Cost of living is high here too and rising because people from all over the country are coming for the same reasons as you. Houses near me have raised in value 400k over the past decade. Traditional adobe homes created by the Indigenous tribes used to be affordable and now are worth millions. We're full here

      the environment here is awesome, you can go hiking all over the place, and we have lakes that are great when you need a brake from being in the city.
      i wouldnt say the culture in phoenix is worth mentioning though, unless you like golf. phoenix is a retirement community masking as a city. we just happen to have some young people as well.

    • @jefesalsero
      @jefesalsero 27 днів тому +1

      @@hunterhollingsworth9058 Agreed. Compared to other cities I've lived around the country, PHX lacks vibrant energy - it's kind of a dull town relative to its size (6th largest city in the U.S.). You have to put energy into creating the fun and excitement you may desire - it's not just going to present itself to you here.

  • @CaseyMcCalla
    @CaseyMcCalla Місяць тому +2

    Almost any issue in Phoenix can be traced back to suburban sprawl. The “affordability” on the outskirts is exacerbating costs of providing quality education because the lack of tax positive land uses. Soon these prices won’t justify the impossible task of maintaining our unsustainable growth. I love Arizona but I think this is the MOST important thing to understand about moving here. It is unsustainable

    Okay as far as the weather you all did come in a weird year! There’s usually less rain throughout and monsoon season is usually more intense. I think we got like one this year. Monsoons still aren’t scary unless you get stuck on the freeway in the middle of the dust storm! And usually it does get warm much sooner in the year. Wouldn’t be mad if it stayed this way but idk if I would expect it to be this way every year!

    I’m so glad you guys love Arizona ❤️ Pro tip.. Arizona has the most number of National Monuments(20+) and they’re just as beautiful as National Parks(AZ has 3).
    Also, the Phoenix Valley does not have tornadoes or any major natural disasters! I remember living in Dallas and waking up to tornado sirens at night! It’s crazy out there.
    Arizona drivers can be crazy too.. especially new California drivers😅 Dallas has better public transit I felt but Phoenix area is way better planned and better for walking and biking! Tempe has excellent transit.

    • @jefesalsero
      @jefesalsero 27 днів тому +1

      For years I've said that PHX has the dumbest drivers in the country. A recent study came to the same conclusion.

    • @user-cr1iz8fw6h
      @user-cr1iz8fw6h 26 днів тому +1

      I feel these studies are meaningless tbh. I saw drivers in Georgia and Florida that are way worse when I lived there. But, Arizona drivers are getting there😅 this is just my opinion from my experiences.
      Also, if you check the Allstate rankings from a few years ago based on claims, accident reports, driver data from insurance apps, etc. a lot of Phoenix area cities such as Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, etc. show up in the top 50 good driving cities lol. And cities like Atlanta showed up near the very bottom. This was my observation too having lived across the country. But, Arizona driving has gotten extremely bad since 2021 especially from my observation.
