Watch the GE Ultrafresh Washing Machine Run a Normal "Time Saver" Cycle - uncut

- Some people wanted to see how a GE UltraFresh clothes washer cleans clothing on the normal cycle with time saver selected. In this video we're washing some mattress covers and 2 woven cotton blankets. The machine pauses at the 8 minute mark as it tries to balance the load.
You might want to watch the video at double speed or use the links below to see certain parts of the cycle.
Start: 2:35
Filling: 2:45
Washing: 5:15
Drain / Spin: 18:42
Rinsing: 26:45
Drain / Spin: 30:41 (This load is a bit unbalanced because of the absorbent cotton blankets being washed with lighter mattress protectors/covers. The machine's timer stays on "8 Minutes" for about 4 or 5 minutes as it works to balance the load.) Spin cycle picks up speed at 38:38 and at 42:00.
End: 46:20
finally a full cycle of this machine
Thank you so much for posting this! It confirmed for me that our older model GE front loader is using WAY too little water. I'd say it fills with about a half gallon of water total for wash, no matter the cycle (except for the basket clean, but that's probably too little too) and maybe a pint for rinse even with Extra Rinse selected. Ugh. Now I'm off to either get service out or buy a new one.
I hope you can get it figured out!
You shouldn't ever use tap cold water for a wash. The detergent will not fully break down. The 'cold' setting makes sure the temperature is at a minimum set point so that it breaks down and cleans properly. Also, if the water is too cold, your machine will have serious buildup.
I never wash in anything but cold never had a problem
@@briannad2470 The 'cold' setting is different from the 'tap cold' setting as described above. So your experience is going to be different.
@@briannad2470It will hurt your washer over time though. Every now and then you should run hot washes with maybe some bleach to keep scum and bacteria from building up. You need hot water to break down grease and oils.
It's amazing!!!! I own one. It does everything I was expecting and better. It takes out any stain. BTw excellent video. Regarding the difficulty trying to balance the sheets. It's quite common for front loaders to have difficulty managing large loads. I saw a video from an LG front loader and it took it 4 attempts and made terrible clanking noise (new model) when accelerating. I washed a king size fluffy comforter and 2 king size sheets and it managed to balance the load and spin to the max setting. Love my GE freshvent!
Hi. Does this machine have a recirculation pump ? Or does it use enough water for the wash?
glad to know about the fluffy comforter, i just ordered this machine yesterday , current washer went out.. can't wait for it to get it.
I hope you love it!
the power motor sounds is quite loud? mine is like that too.im thinking its not normal...
Thank you so much for posting. Difficult to find long demo videos for washers. How is your GE washer holding up now after 2 to 3 years, any issues?
It’s still going strong. We replaced the gasket for a leak, but it may have been water leaking from the SmartDispenser tray.
Thank you for posting this. I just got this set and I was thinking there was a malfunction because there’s almost no water in there. I even had plumbers out here working on my water pressure in my house. The wet clothes tumbling around in there with no water scared me to death but I guess that’s how it’s supposed to be 🤷🏻♀️ I wash clothes on the Self Clean setting sometimes to get them tumbling in some soapy water.
I thought the same at the beginning. I tested this with a ketchup stained white towel and it came out clean. Maybe it's the engineering that found the right amount of water to save on water and electricity (to spin the drum).
Hope this helps you a bit. Enjoy
don't use the self clean with anything front loaders aren't supposed to use a lot of water they. use just enough to saturate the fabric you also don't want suds they are bad for the machine and make it not clean well you only need 1 tablespoon of detergent for a normal load and 2 if you fill the drum up do not use the cup that came with your detergent it is way to much also they will not come out of the dryer smelling. like detergent if you want them to smell get some of that fabric spray febreze has some also don't use fabric softener it will gum up your machine and cause mold that's stuff is made from refined animal fat with scented in it
@@joshuamast5128 well if these machines used enough water to flush everything out to begin with there wouldn't be problems with smells. These new front loaders are ridiculous and people buy the hype that they're doing good for the environment.
@@patcola7335 smells have nothing to do with not using enough water. These washers get smelly because people keep the doors closed when not in use and any moisture left in the washer causes mold to grow. I have had a front l loader for 15 years, the door and detergent tray is always slightly open when not in use, I wipe the gasket after every l load. This machine has never had a smell. Every front load machine's owners manual tells you to do this. If a machine smells it is user error.
If you use the normal cycle of course you won't see any water .
I thought I was the only one that noticed the sound. It's really like an airplane taking off and a bit loud too!
That SPIN CYCLE don't mess around😲

I wash in Normal setting, Pre-wash, Maximum Spin, Extra Rinse and Warm Water 80%
of the time.
The Ultrafresh Vent system and Antimicrobial feature was the main selling point for my purchase.
The 650 model would have been a better choice for me.
Thanks for the info. I may try your settings out. I suspect you use a pre wash and extra rinse to compensate for the lack of water? We chose the UltraVent so we can close the door in a high use/small space with compulsive door-closing family members. What model did you get? 550? 850? We bought during quarantine when options were limited.
My GE Ultra Fresh started leaking from the door gasket only after 3 months. I would never buy another GE product because of the way they have handled the issue....the tech actually said he could see no problem even though I had video of the leak. He also said he suggests not running the washer when we are not home......come again? Insane.
I’m just seeing this comment. The only time mine leaks is when a piece of clothing gets stuck between the gasket and the door.
@@fixthishouse3303 they replaced my gasket it was faulty but i am not impressed with how it all worked out.
Thanks for the update!
Thanks for the video I just got this one and was like where is the water at?! I was hoping someone posted a video showing there’s is light on water too 😂
Its lasted you 2 years but that spin cycle at the end needs you to intervene and redistribute the load. Especially if the "Spin' light is blinking. It only blinks if the control board has tried but failed to balance. It could damage the washer which is why it keeps spinning at lower speeds. I have this issue occasionally but always redistribute if it needs it.
Agreed.
@fixthishouse3303 By the way I love your videos. Thank you for posting.
@@Connor-xe6fl Thanks for the encouragement!
Thanks for posting this running video. I just got this unit last weekend to replace my LG front loader and the GE is a little nosier when the drum spins. Like almost like a metal on metal sound. But it seems to be working find. This video confirms that's just want a GE sounds like.
Sounds like an airplane taking off…
Hey, if you didn’t stack the machines, makes sure they are spaced far enough apart that the washer doesn’t hit the dryer and break the trim. (Or add a bumper between the machines for that off-balanced load that makes the washer smack into the dryer.)
@@fixthishouse3303 Yeah, it does sound like that. Which is not surprising considering GE does make airplane engines. Thanks for the tip though, my laundry room is really small in size but it very wide where the washer and dryer go. So they are about 6-7" apart. I should be ok. I will say so far, it does seem more stable than the LG but I haven't washed my sheets or lots of towels yet.
Somehow my dryer trim broke. I’d put pool noodles in the gap between the machines.
@@fixthishouse3303 yeah. I saw that in your other video when I was doing research on ge washing machines. That thing must have been rocking out. Hahah
@@RidinONChrome Right, and I was probably upstairs when it started going crazy… by the time you get to it, the damage is done. I honestly don’t know when/how it happened, but that’s my best guess.
OMG THANK YOU FOR POSTING I WOULD NEVER DO THAT LOAD I WOULD DO THE 2 BLANKET THEN THE 2 PROTECTORS SEPERATE WITH AN EXTRA RINSE IT SEEMS LIGHT ON WATER TO MW BUT I AM USE TO A TOP LOADER BUT I STILL THINK THEY COULD USE A LITTLE MORE WATER THANK YOU
I wouldn’t mind a little more water either. I could probably select the bulky/bedding cycle to get more water. It kinda seems like the machine stops adding water if the clothing isn’t absorbing more.
I wash sheets and blankets separately now. Thanks for watching and commenting! Good luck with whatever machine you choose!
Hello, at first, I love this style of you’re video, can you test normal cycle without time save heavy dosing detergent, and max spin please
Damn that final spin was pulling an impressive 400g force on those blankets they should be dry in 15 mins tops
It’s amazing except when the load is uneven. 😊
Next time, you should do a load of colors on the normal cycle with cold, normal soil, high speed spin and smart dispenser set to auto/normal dispense. I'd also like to see it with fabric softener.
Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind! My husband is teasing me because he thinks this video will be “riveting” 😂 Of course, he helped me download and process it. Personally, I’d like to see the Power Steam cycle - I’m curious what the smaller nozzle on the top left of the door opening does. Thanks for commenting!
@@fixthishouse3303 Same. What does each nozzle do?
Regular water comes out one of them. There’s a little gray one, though... I think it might be for steam or the extra hot water setting?
@@fixthishouse3303 It's too bad this washer doesn't have water recirculation. How do laundry detergent bleach and fabric softener make it into the tub and what nozzle?
Have you seen this video? ua-cam.com/video/SEdru_zntyE/v-deo.html
Thank you for this video. I'm considering buying this washer. But scared cause i as a lot of videos that have high pitch motor sound during spin cycle. Any issues? How long have you had?
We’ve had it 3 years. I replied to your other comment earlier today. They say the machine is louder than other front loaders because there are vents on the front of the machine. That sound doesn’t bother me. It does make the hot water pipes in our house bang. I find that more annoying. We have installed hammer arrestors to stope the banging, but need to try them on the machine vs on the pipes. I think any newer machine would cause the same pipe banging in our house.
We just purchased the exact same washer and dryer setup - GE 650/65 in satin nickel... No matter what setting we use - the clothes get wet, but there is absolutely no sitting water (not even a half-cup of water) in the washer drum for the clothes to go through... Is yours the same...?
Yes, the machine uses “just enough” water based on the principle that friction cleans.
Thanks for the video! I had a quick question.... on a normal load of laundry and on the high speed spin setting... do the clothes come out pretty dry? The reason that I ask is because we do not have a dryer and we line dry our clothes and use a drying rack in the winter time. We need a washer that will spin them pretty dry so they dry as quick as possible on the rack. Thanks!
The clothes come out pretty dry compared to a top loader. It will really depend on a few things - how much you put in the dryer (I tend to overload it) and what kind of materials are you washing. Heavier items like towels, jeans or high quality, absorbent hoodies tend to come out wetter. Athletic clothing and lightweight items come out damp. There is a learning curve, but washing similar materials together will spin out best.
@@fixthishouse3303 Thank you so much for answering my question!!! I just subscribed! My electric company is a rip off and I have saved $40 - $45 every month by getting rid of my dryer.
@@nicholassuriano6957 Wow! I hope you live in a hot, dry climate! We’re in NJ and our gas/electric bill on an equal payment plan is over $400/month. Most of our house runs on electric except the dryer and the heater. Before we got this dryer, we installed a pulley system clothes line from the upstairs dining room window to a tree.
Same thing happened to me thanks for the info
This machine seems all right, but the major downer for me is the fact that it does not spin in between wash and rinse, or between rinses.
This means that any suds in the load are not spun out.
Sure, HE detergents, especially when used the correct amount, mitigate the suds problem, I still feel like there is a drop in rinsing performance simply because it doesn't spend the extra couple minutes to spin in between rinses.
I’m pretty sure mine spins between wash and rinse. Now I’ll have to watch my own video again! But I’m sure I’ve heard mine speed up before rinsing (often when the load is uneven so it’s memorable) and I’ve never seen suds in the final laundry. Am I missing something? Maybe it doesn’t spin it completely? Is that what you mean?
@@fixthishouse3303 In this particular video, it thinks about spinning, going into the balancing phase, but it ultimately decided to not spin.
I have seen two other videos of this machine, one on the normal setting without time save and another on bulky. Both carried out a very brief spin up, but It was no longer than a minute. Personally I would like to see spinning for at least 2 minutes.
That being said, I have not seen any other cycle on this machine, so I'm unsure as to if other cycles do a longer/more proper spin cycle.
It's good to hear that you haven't had any issues with rinsing even despite this, however. At that point it just comes down to a personal nitpick of mine. It seems like a good washer, don't get me wrong.
I’ll be watching for a spin between cycles. Thanks for your comments!
There is an accelerometer sensor that should be built into the top of the outer rear tub or at least there was one unless they engineered that out in one the variations of this model. It senses vibration in one or more axis so the washer can find the optimal rotational speed. Although it's supposed to blink the spin light if this error occurs and it can't spin at the selected speed. Otherwise the pump may be obstructed which can cause clothes to still be damp. It should still be spinning between cycles, although the selected spin speed is only applied on the final spin.
Thanks! What causes a slow leak under the front edge of the machine while in use? Gasket?
Using cold water to wash will gunk machine up…. It will get mouldy and smell…. Use extra hot for whites! :)
It’s a longer story... our hot water pipes bang throughout the house when we use anything but “tap cold” water. We have renters in part of the house, so we mostly use cold water unless they aren’t home. We bought the part to fix the banging pipes but haven’t installed it yet. Also, this machine has a self-clean option that should remove gunk buildup.
@@fixthishouse3303 if the machine has a heating element put both hose on cold water and let the machine heats his own water
Interesting idea.
I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t want a better wash in less time…. It saves energy and time, can easily be turned on with the touch of a button and I have it turned on all the time.
I think you mean that you always use the Time Saver option? I guess some people would argue that the clothes don’t get as clean with a shorter wash.
@@fixthishouse3303 That’s not true. The machine gently increases the wash temperature and optimizes the motion pattern to get the items cleaned faster. Plus, the vast of the time that is taken away from the final spin. With normal wash the final spin is 22 minutes and with time saver its only 8.
for some reason after a handful of washes I will come to check on the clothes and it says H20 supply and stops the cycle
Here are some guesses with possible solutions: 1) make sure the water is still turned on where the hoses connect to the faucet. 2) there should be a small filter where the hoses connect to the washer. One time when we had this type of problem, the filter was clogged.
Does this washer have a filter that has to be cleaned out every so often I noticed it didn’t have a door to access it
Yes, it’s a pump filter on the lower right side of the machine near the floor. I have a video on cleaning it.

How is this washer holding up for you? Thinking about buying the matching set soon.
I’m pretty happy with our purchase. The machine may sound louder than other front loaders because there are vents in the front. The customer service during the first year is good. We did need to replace the gasket this year. We use the machine heavily. I love how quickly I can wash and dry a small load. It is a little fussy about what you wash together - a sheet + a cotton blanket probably won’t spin out well. Maybe all front loaders are like that? It doesn’t use much water - is that a plus or minus? But you can use prewash and extra rinse to get more water if you want it.
Is there a way to get more water 💦 running inside for a better wash or rinse?
I *think* the Bedding cycle may use more water. Bedding is dense, absorbent, but light weight. That setting probably uses more water per pound of clothing. I want to test this theory, but haven’t yet. As a side note, these machines use “friction” to clean vs lots of detergent or water.
@@fixthishouse3303soil has to be suspended in water to clean. Smashing dirty water into the clothes is no good
Why not use the Bedding cycle when you are cleaning bedding?@@fixthishouse3303
The pump sound is very loud, is this normal for GE's washing machines?
I don’t know. The loudest sounds that my machine makes are the hot water pipes banging when the machine stops filling (we installed a pipe arrester to help) and spinning when the loud is imbalanced. Other people might know better about the pump sounds.
Mine is like that too. I thought for sure something was wrong because how can such a small pump make so much noise? My old Whirlpool drain pump was nearly silent.
Hello, do you have any way to make the washing machine pour more water? It arrived yesterday and I am somewhat disappointed by very little water in all the cycles I have tried. Please could you help me with your experience regarding water levels? I know they don't shed much. but I think that mine almost does not pour water
The “Bedding” cycle might use more water. I think the machine adds water based on the weight of the clothing/contents. Another option suggested someone in the comments: wash with both the pre-wash and extra rinse options selected. The other thing to remember is that “friction cleans”. The clothing rubbing against each other helps them to get clean. Finally, if the clothing is coming out dry in the middle (because the machine truly isn’t wetting all of the contents), contact GE customer service and have it looked at.
Tanks for this video.
Im looking for this model and my only question is about the noise. Dose It less sond of on real ?
It’s a bit loud, like a jet engine spinning, but you get used to it (or learn to use it by day vs night). Also, the pipe banging sounds caused by the machine bother me more than the spinning/draining noise. I do love how fast it can run a cycle.

Lol, that is actually an excellent idea! Maybe I’ll watch my video when I can’t sleep! Or, I can make a series of sleep videos showing different cycles on different machines! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hello, I just got this washer. What confuses me is that my old washer uses a lot of water in the fill & wash cycle, but this one only use a little water and the clothes inside looks only damp when it goes through it’s cycles. Is it normal? Thanks
Yes, I think it’s normal (except for bulky comforters). It uses minimal water and relies on friction and some detergent to clean the clothing. Use the “bulky/bedding” setting for fluffier bedspreads and blankets. I suspect the machine weighs the contents and adjusts the amount of water accordingly. One time I washed a light, fluffy comforter on the normal setting and the inside still seemed dry when it finished the cycle. Hope that helps! Have fun!

It does, but it’s mostly only noticeable when the dryer door is open (the machines are stacked).

I'd like to see the default normal cycle with laundry detergent and fabric softener. I'd like to see the smart dispense on the normal/auto dispense level.
Do you need to see how much detergent is dispensed or the inside of the machine (water level, suds level) as it washes? I’ll see if I can do it. I think the inside light goes off every 5 minutes, so it can be tricky :)
@@fixthishouse3303 I'd like to see the suds level on normal dispenser setting. No more, no less. Just right. I'd like to see the default normal cycle without any options with detergent and softener.
We have this washing machine and my wife is perplexed on load sizes and cycle times. I thought this washing machine sensed how big or small a load is and adjusted the cycle time according to load size ? Or are we not doing something right ?
I’d say the machine adjusts the amount of detergent and water used… you adjust the cycle time and water temperature. If I have a smaller load or I’m in a hurry, I use the 20min Quick Wash cycle. Recently I’ve started using longer wash cycles to get our clothing cleaner. Does that help?
@@fixthishouse3303 somewhat. Can we use the quick wash cycle for small loads AND select “normal” soil level and still have it do a quicker cycle time ?
“Normal” appears 2x on the washer - as a cycle and as a soil level. A normal cycle (using the main knob at 11 o’clock position) with normal soil, warm water temp and max spin takes 58min on my machine. If I press the “Time Saver” button, the time is reduced to 39min. Likewise, there are 2 ways to speed up a cycle - the Quick Wash cycle (1 o’clock knob position) and the “time saver” button. A Quick Wash cycle with normal soil, warm water and max spin takes 33 minutes. You cannot shorten it with the Time Saver button, but you can reduce the time by using the Extra Light soil option and medium spin. That makes the cycle 20 minutes.
Why are you using the normal cycle and not bulky or bedding?
Maybe because the items were thin vs thick comforters?
Is your machine on a pedestal or on the floor?
I have a pedestal and mine wobbles a bit.
On the floor. We did stack them eventually, so the dryer is on the washer. It wobbles a little, but it’s usually only annoying when the load isn’t balanced. (For example, a couple of extra absorbent hoodies in a load of regular shirts and pants can mess up the balance because they are so heavy when wet.)
It sounds very loud. Does it make more noise than top loading machine?
It can sound like a plane engine, so yes, it’s probably louder. To me, the machine also seems more powerful than top loaders.
Question about high speed spin at the end of the cycle. Just to confirm because I just got Sam washer and I ear hight pitch noise at hight spin. Is that what you get as well?
I don’t think it’s high pitched. Sometimes it sounds like an airplane taking off. Does that help?
What size GE washer did you purchase? I’m thinking of buying the GE 4.8 cubic feet or 5.0 Cubic Feet
I think ours is 4.8 cu ft. It’s model 650. The extra cost for just .2 cu ft more wasn’t worth it for us.
We bought the 850 for less than the 650. Watch sales and price match.

Can you leave the drum light during the full cycle.
No, I don’t think so. It goes off after 5 minutes.
Do you have the matching dryer? How do you not get a load this size to bunch up in the dryer?
Yes, we have the matching dryer. For a weird load like this, I would put the lightweight mattress covers in the dryer by themselves - probably on medium heat and “extra dry.” The cotton blankets could go in the dryer together, but I tend to dry them on hot. If the dryer stops and they are bunched / balled up, I I bunch them and start it again. It’s not perfect, but it works. Our dryer is gas if that matters to you.
So is ours @@fixthishouse3303 and when we do a sheet load they will usually ball up into the fitted sheet. Just trying to figure out how to remedy this. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

Sorry, it’s not holding water
I’m guessing that the machine isn’t leaking water on the floor. If you wash a light but bulky comforter on the bedding cycle, is the inside wet? Stop the machine halfway through the cycle to check it. You could also do the same thing with any load. Stop the machine halfway through the cycle. The clothing should be thoroughly wet. You won’t see excess water in the machine, just enough for the clothing to be saturated.

Did you throw some soap in the machine 🤔
Hmm, there is a SmartDispenser that I fill. It adds the detergent automatically. Is that what you wanted to know?
Which model? 650?
Yes
I just got this same set and color. In normal mode, when it gets to 15 minutes left the machine shuts off and doesn't spin out the water. Does anyone else have this problem. Also, in rinse and spin it doesn't put water in and the drum just turns slowly and goes back and forth from 10 to 13 minutes for about 20 minutes. After about 20 minutes it drops to 6 minutes and spins.
Something is wrong. Is the clothing getting wet? I’d contact GE customer service ASAP.
For the rinse and spin cycle, is the spin speed set to “low” or “no spin”?
@@fixthishouse3303 all cycles are set to high or max under spin cycle. Clothes all get wet except rinse and spin (they don't get wet or spin) they just tumble. I know there is an extra rinse option you can set when you start a cycle. There’s also a pre wash option. I think you can do manual rinse and spin cycles as much as you want. I don’t think that would be necessary though. Maybe you’d only need the “Sanitize + Allergen” cycle which takes 1:47 min and uses extra hot water, heavy soil and max spin? Add an extra rinse and it’s a 1hr 55 min cycle, but I bet the clothing would be clean!
I still like more water on the 850 series. Has anyone figured out how to yet like with the old GE's?
I once saw a hint for making a high efficiency washer (top loader) use more water. The person used a sprayer from the utility sink to wet some of the clothing. The concept: adding water makes the clothing weigh more and tricks the machine into using more water. I don’t know if it works for front loaders or for this particular machine.
Just get the clothes wet first by starting a load then aborting cycle as soon as clothing is wet through. Then start a new cycle (the system will first pump out any excess H2O pooled in the outer drum) and the additional weight of the now soaked clothes will be interpreted as a larger load and trigger the addition of “extra” water. Been doing this since purchasing my first front loader in 2005.
Thank you!

That’s awesome!

Is the inside of the door window glass or plastic?
I’m pretty sure it’s plastic.
Inside of door is glass. Outside of door is plastic.
How can you tell? Thanks for all your comments :)
@@fixthishouse3303 Hard to explain, but you can tell by tapping on it with a fingernail and it also doesn't scratch as easily. If you had it side by side with a plastic Whirlpool or Maytag door you'd be able to tell the difference immediately. That's one of the things that drew us to GE. When you compare it side by side with the Whirlpool 8620 pretty much everything you can see and touch feels like better quality. That doesn't necessarily mean it is better quality of course, but it does tend to bode well.
True. I’m going to look at the inside of our machine’s door again. Could it be glass on the better models and plastic on the others? I think we have model 650.
Does not look like it uses enough water to thoroughly clean and make the water soapy
These machines rely on friction, not soap suds to clean.
Hi
Doesn’t pour that much water into
I think the machines clean based on friction, not water.
I think the stain didn’t come out because of not enough water in machine.
I should probably re-watch this to remember what stain didn’t come out, but these machines work on the principle that “friction cleans”. I probably should use the full normal cycle vs the fast normal cycle for better stain removal.
Where the heck is the water?
It uses very little. If you pull out the smart dispense tray when you first start the machine, you’ll see the water. (Be careful though.)
I don’t get using cold water, it’s gross you wouldn’t wash your dishes or body in cold. Hotter the water the better the cleaning at removing grease and skin particles. Front loader washers need extra hot washes from time to time. This keeps the inside tub & sump fresh like new and towels looking spotless clean
We wash on hot occasionally. Our clothing doesn’t get that dirty and our monthly electric/gas bill is high. We’d also run out of hot water and people would complain about cold showers. I do love hot water though. So many factors to consider! Thanks for expressing your thoughts.
Why does the washer not show any water in the tub
I think it only uses enough to clean the fabric. It probably depends on friction (clothing rubbing against clothing?) More than water.
I hate how little water it uses, watched this video to see if it was only my washer that didn't use any water. I hate that about this front loader. Wish I could return it.
@@sharifrancis8154 Do you think calling or writing GE Customer Service would help? *Maybe* there is a setting to adjust the amount of water used? Tell them you think the the clothing isn’t getting wet enough. I wonder if the “Bedding” setting uses more water.
I once saw a video where someone wet the clothing before using an HE top load washer that used too little water. He had a spray nozzle on his utility sink faucet next to the washer. I think the machines add water based on how heavy the clothing is. Heavier contents should mean more water is added. Just a few ideas.
@@fixthishouse3303 thanks so much will look into it!!
She put it in time saver mode (which shouldn't have been used for this particular kind of laundry, but I digress). Front loaders already don't use a lot of water, but time saver modes use even less water.
I don’t like this washer it makes me feel like is not using enough water .
Friction cleans. I think that’s the idea: more friction, less water. You might be able to wash on the “bedding” setting for bulky blankets. I bet that uses more water.
I would have used bulk, normal time, max spin, warm water.
I do want to see how much water is used for a bulky cycle. Is that what you mean or are those the settings you like all the time?
@@fixthishouse3303 I use the bulk setting for like comforter and stuff
It sounds like samsung
I already dislike that there’s hardly any water
I think they work on the principle that friction cleans. If the machine weighs the clothing to determine how much water to add, you might be able to wet the clothing to trick the machine into using more water. The “bedding” option may also use more water (bedding is light, but bulky, requiring more water). These statements are my own opinion, not based on actual research on this machine 🙂
Front loading washers don't use nearly as much water. That's one of the main reasons for having one. In particular in this case, time saver option will use even less water, as it's meant for smaller loads than this.
Almost all cycles in this machine have the option of more water. That option adds up to 3 more gallons of water. I have the same washer and I don’t use the normal cycle because I can’t use more water . It’s my first front load machine and I’m love it!
My underwear doesn't get clean. It still has spots from me have diarrhea. Also one of my white towels still had spotfrom makeup.
Soak the items for at least an hour in OxyClean to whiten and brighten them.
So loud
Someone said that the vents make the machine louder.
When haier acquired ge appliances, I was expecting this new lineup to have crazy designs and new features. But no, it just functions like a 2004 kenmore front load with the crappy programming, crappy sensors and a brushed motor in 2021... newer front loads already have vents, they just moved it to the front on this model to make it more obvious. I'll pass on GE.
What washer brand/model do you like?
@@fixthishouse3303
Residential: LG, and Miele
Commercial/Laundromat: Continental Girbau, and Electrolux.
How about you? Besides GE? :)
@@mattstbe6452 lol, I don’t sell or fix washers. I won’t buy Whirlpool (or the other brands they make) due to a bad experience with a fridge. We do a lot of laundry - sheets, blankets and towels for Airbnb’s, so when our old washer(s) died we got the GE UltraFresh one. What do you think of Speed Queens?

The residential models 👎
The laundromat models 👍
Thanks!
