  • Update after 2 month of use and GE tech solve the issue.
    I really love this machine however a biggest issue was, it smelled damp even using best washing liquids out there. From day 1 I had same exact issue. I had service scheduled with GE and found out that Costco delivery service guys messed up connections. They installed hot on cold and cold on hot, so all the time it was hot water that heating up whole machine and load and eventually smelled bad.
    Machine build with class. Its really heavy in its segment that tells quality story itself. Auto dispenser (smart dispenser) is great to use. I wish there is another smart dispenser for fabric softener so we can almost never open liquid compartment. This is best water saving washer. I wish it take more water since I comes from top loader washers. I wish there should be an option for water level and load selector as we are not that dump people who cannot determine load level.
    I am using Tide liquid detergent along with Downy softener and Downy unstoppable.
    This machine is super quiet and biggest reason that I love this machine is does not leave lint on clothes. Fabric looks new at every wash due to lint free washing and we should not rely on dryer to remove lint.

    Just sold my GE ultrafresh after having it for only 5 months. I was really excited to buy one. Wish I could go back in time and skip this model unfortunately. Tried literally every setting, different detergents, self clean cycle with bleach ect. It seemed to function just fine, clothes never seemed clean. Everything always had a slight mildew smell. I would always leave the door open after taking the clothes out. Inside the washer still looked brand new and even smelled clean and new when sticking your head inside the machine, the clothes coming out was a different story. I couldn't take it anymore and purchased a Speed Queen TC5 2023 model. It looks old and ugly but all my clothes smell like nothing now, the way I like it. It got to the point I almost wanted to just throw the clothes away month after month of never being able to get that mildew smell out. I must of watched every youtube video on washers, front and top load. I couldn't be more happy with my new speed queen tc5, it's not much to look at, but it get the job done very well.

    Hey. I can hear you say that you normally add a few gallons of water to the washer yourself. In the US people just do not get how you don't need gallons of water to wash clothes. Our washers in the UK have been front load HE since the 90s!! When I lived in the states I hated using the apartment washer so much that I took my clothes to the laundromat to use the front loaders. The top loaders are useless! Back to water, you really only need what the washer puts in. Less water equals more concentrated wash water equals better cleaning. The US really has had a load of issues in regards to front load washers. I was dumbfounded that people were complaining about mold and that manufacturers had to come up with ways to stop it. I mean, come on now, you just leave the door slightly ajar. It really is that easy.

      Brian, I would not add gallon or two to drum (after 1st 5 min) if final results are without bad smells. I just don't get it why it smells bad after washed!

      @satyam babaria Hi. This is very strange and again common for US front loaders. But you have only used this twice? In what way do the clothes smell? One common thing is that if you use cool / warm water washes all the time along with liquid detergent, after time residue can build up inside the machine. I mean I use liquid detergent and cold/warm water for most things but for towels and work scrubs I use powder and on a hot setting. So my washer is getting that combo every other week. For sure at least twice per month use powder detergent and hot water. But I mean if this is only after the second cycle ever there should be no smell. That is strange. I mean the washer is for sure 1000% using enough water.

      @@brianharrison3676 surprised you had a problem with top loaders in the US. The ones I used with warm/warm and a capful of detergent worked fine. I also used similar community top-load washers when I was in the UK. Built like tanks and no complaints. Of course, this was back in the 90s, these days to get hot as in close to 60C in the US you need the extra hot setting and there is no boil wash option any longer. Or maybe it's just been reduced to what it used to be. EPA rules and all that.

      I’m from Europe, living 10 years in the States. I loved my LG front loader when I lived in Poland- my mom still uses it after 14 years and has no problems. It is an HE washer and it uses way more water than our American top loader did. Moreover, our top loader LG (also an HE model) did take so little water that clothes were coming out with the dry spots! I got the model from the video just yesterday, will be delivered in 2 weeks. I didn’t care for the fresh vent- I always leave my washer open and never had a mold issue. People here often don’t know you can remove the detergent drawer either, that may be another source of mildew and bad smell. But generally- washers in the States are a bit different than in Europe.

    After 2 years, some of my residents' washer machines have draining issues. Inverter board, drain pump, door switch, front computer button panel, and cleared the drain hose have been repalced.Force drain on diagnostic on number 12.Still doesnt work. Order a cpu on May and of course, backorder until August. These units are garbage. Ironic!

    Listening to your video and others it sounds like this washer has a high pitch noise that is louder during spin cycle than other washers. Can you confirm that this washer makes more noise from the spin cycle due to the holes in the vent? Thanks a lot

      It turns out that installers installed water hose wrong way... hot into cold and cold into hot. That was the main reason why laundry resulted in bad smell. Now it does not smell bad. But still not getting fragrance out from fabric even using branded liquids and fragrance dots.

    12:39 Max loading for either a top loader or a front loader is 70% of the volume. I call this the mixie rule so people get it. So how can a Samsung top loader take twice the load of an equivalent front loader? it cannot. The wash action in the front loader will be better in terms of stain removal compared to any top loader. The cycles however will be longer as less water is used compared to a top loader that will get the load done faster, if not quite as well. Five fingers or a hands width from the top of the door seal to the dry clothes is the max loading of your front loader.

    • @johndoe-vc1we
      @johndoe-vc1we Рік тому

      You're supposed to ball your clothes as you put them in the top loader. If just put clothes in flat and cram then you might be able to fit more in the top loader but wash quality is going to suffer as the clothes do not move much and just get wet and rotated a bit. It amazes me how many people do not get this. If the clothes don't move much once the cycle begins in the top loader then it's been overloaded.

      24:30 that was the first clue that the hot and cold water connections were incorrectly installed swapped by the installer. Surprised at the quality of service you got. How is the layperson to know this. Second, If the hot water coming out of your boiler is smelling then maybe you should attend to it.

    • @johndoe-vc1we
      @johndoe-vc1we Рік тому

      14:39 since the water to wash was hot I suspect what you are seeing there is dye coming off the clothes. Not dirt. Though that can also be possible if those clothes were cold washed for a lone time and accumulated a lot of detergent residue.

      26:00 that sink cleaning will give you a chance to test how good various tub cleaners are if left unattended with occasional stirring. Will plain bleach clean that sink better or oxy clean left in it at 50 degrees C.
