I am looking for a new washer and dryer and this guy’s video has 100x more relevant information than these other companies who sell the units. This guy and the repair guys on youtube.
GE what GE did for you is the reason why I got this machine and the only reason GE pay attention I hope that you continue to do this❤
I bought these in June and have absolutely love them. Quiet and comes as advertised. No problems at all and agree with your assessment of the set. Thanks for the followup video and enjoy your work.
Many reviews say not as quiet as expected, especially during rinse cycle. Haven't been able to find any videos showing machine while running. Can you elaborate on your "quiet and as advertised" observation? Thanks
Did the washer get musty at all?
You got any mold on the band after two years?
Hi how are your washer and dryee?
Our we just bought and the dryer in less than a month is no longer working. It makes a stretching noise and it won't tumble
This is the best review for these machines I have seen.
I live out in the middle of nowhere in the southwest of the USA. I'm one of the few handymen that's willing the tear into broken appliances (nearest dealer is 125 miles away). People are always asking me what's the most reliable to buy, so I appreciate your honesty and your integrity. Thanks for the video.
My husband and I are looking at these units to replace our LG set from 2006. That set (Tron) has been an amazing workhorse with very few issues. We replaced moldy gaskets twice, always kept the door open and routinely wiped it out.. We seriously considered the GE impeller models, but after using one in an Airbnb rental, we found significant wrinkles due to clothes moving around so much in the washer. This video seals the deal as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for moving out of your typical space on UA-cam to help us!
@@hettiekenny5185 after a year how do you like the ge? I too have old LG 15 years old and the dryer died. So struggling to decide what to buy next. Thanks
Just getting a 850 this week thanks for showing about the spin only cycle. During warranty GE is the only manufacturer that sends out it's own people whom just work on GE appliances.
If you hold the light button down for 3 to 4 seconds it will lock the panel while you are washing so that it is not touch sensitive (or have to start over) it does that to prevent a child or like if you bump into it but you can hold the light button down for another 4 to 5 seconds to turn the lock off.
My 18 month old broken Samsung has this and I have small kids. But on the Samsung it doesn’t lock the power button whatsoever, real frustrating. Maybe its that way intentionally for safety reasons, not sure. How about this GE? I’m thinking of upgrading the washer in this video.
Thank you so much @taemckezie 4 this tip.
@@jcqlndt8068 you are very welcome .
@@jcqlndt8068 I have reviews on these washers and dryers as well on my page as well
Brand new Washer leaks.
Purchased this set about three weeks ago. Washer and dryer.
The washer leaks once in a while from somewhere underneath.
Went back to Home Depot (I purchased appliance), Home Depot washed their hands with it told me to call the manufacturer .
I called the manufacturer and after a few days, they sent a technician (a local subcontractor, not a GE employee) the guy removed some screws and had no idea what to do and told me that I’m using the wrong detergent and I’m using too much detergent . It did not leak when he was there, but I showed him the photos of previous leaks.
The thing is that the washer has a photo of Tide detergent on the soap dispenser and tide detergent is my favourite detergent. Therefore, I am using the detergent that is recommended by the manufacturer. Also, I don’t understand how am I using too much detergent, because the dispersing of detergent is automatic, The machine takes as much detergent from the tray as it needs and I cannot control that.
I called GE a second time to report that the machine is still leaking and they did not even send a technician second time.
I’m considering suing GE to get them to come and take the washer and dryer away and give me my money back. It’s been only three weeks, the machine leaked about five or six times so far .
Previously, I had Samsung for 10 years and I had no problems. Why did I have to go and buy?
Does anyone know what have the same problem. The manufacturer keeps blaming it on me, that I’m using the wrong detergent. I’m using tied, what’s wrong with Tide.
Other than that, when it’s not leaking, it does a very good job.
The dryer does not have any issues, it’s only the washer it leaks, and it drives me crazy . When it leaks, there is quite a bit of water on the floor, luckily the washer is installed at the ground floor, otherwise it would cause a flood.
This follow-up review certainly made my mind in purchasing this combined washer dryer units! Thanks for the reviews!
Thank you for the very informative video on the GE washer and dryer. After watching your video, I purchased the 550 series from Costco, arrives on Feb 22, 2023. I am by myself, and have no need for the steaming functions or the large capacity auto soap dispenser. I did purchase the stacking kit and plan to build a cabinet system with the space the stack frees up. Thanks again for the video. Well done.
Just got this GE Ultrafresh set and I'm obsessed with them. Previously had Samsung set that worked great for 12 years, but the dryer died. Please know that your GE Ultrafresh videos were very helpful, and I kept running back to the videos to try features mentioned in your videos. Thank you for making these two helpful videos on the GE Ultrafresh washer and dryer saved me a lot of time. Cheers!
where did you purchase it? did you purchase the extended protection plan?
@farmermike9262 bought both from Lowes. I think I did get the extended warranty.
Just a note, GE Appliances was sold to Haier in 2016, so they aren't affiliated with GE Aerospace.
I appreciate that you gave a 6 month update. Now that you've had this laundry pair for 2 years, do you still feel the same? Have there been any issues?
Thanks ~ April
Mine is throwing 6 codes after one year
One thing my salesman showed me today was a small door at the bottom of the washer that opens to a lint/hair catcher. He said it would be good to clean 3+ times a year to further eliminate potential smells. Our springer leaves hair everywhere, so I was happy to see this feature.
Interesting! I do hair and we have a cat so little hairs are all over our clothes. I just ordered these this morning
i deliver appliances for a living n thise are the heaviest washer dryer set on the market... (back breakers)
My GE refrigerator is terrible and I told myself I'll never buy another GE , but I bought the profile version of this washer and no regrets so far I love it.
Thanks for explaining "spin only". I was disappointed that I couldn't figure that out using the manual. Was ready to return washer.
I have purchased GE washers, dryers, range, and refrigerators almost exclusively (bought LG once) because of their warranties. They’ve been amazing!
Bought all LG washers, dryers, vacuums, range, air purifiers, and refrigerators exclusively because of their quality and warranties. No wonder they are the No.1 appliance brand in the world. Love LG company!
@@3811eric lg the best
My LG before I bought this washer lasted 15 years with a family of 5 and I've let other families stay in my downstairs over the years so it was used well. Still running the dryer for that set. I hope this GE lasts just as long.
LG Dryer finally died after 13 years. Decided on getting these almost 100% from your reviews. Lord knows the other video reviews you do are SO detailed, so we’ll researched, I didn’t feel the need to keep researching. (Which I’m almost OCD about researching before I buy. Saved me TONS of time by YOU doing these videos! Thank you for that!
I'm replacing a 15 year old LG set. Do you still recommend the Ge?
@ 👍 yes
Whoa 15 loads a week thats alot lol. Good review. Mine are arriving next week.
I don’t know if you noticed yet or not but I just received my set and first thing I found (cause the comment you made about thr buttons) was the control lock feature which locks the panel and prevents what you don’t like the ability to randomly turn off the machine mid cycle.
who would have thought, RV/Trucks to washing machine. Love the info, u got skillz
OMG!! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I just bought this set and was pretty upset to realize that there was no spin only cycle. I often hand wash things and throw it in for a spin or need to spin something that was off balance the first time. I was pretty bummed out that there was no spin on the cycle and now your UA-cam video has made my evening!! Yay! Thanks.
I am so excited to get these. We bought them Labor Day Weekend and Lowe’s are holding them at the store till we close on our house. Great review. Thank you.
You can lock your control panel by holding your finger on the control lock for 3 second and if by chance you bumped into the panel it won't change your setting or if you have kids that likes to touch the control panel
I can speak to their warranty process. I had a washer tripping my GFI (tested on 3 circuits) and they sent me a $100 check for not being able to do laundry / having to go to the laundry matt and replaced the washer. They couldn't get my model fast enough so they upgraded it by a model and sent it out faster. Communication was great through the entire process and it seemed like they actually cared.
Sadly, the new washer had the same issue and I replaced the GFI and had the issue again. I like the washer so much that I just bypassed the GFI. I spoke to an electrician that said that this is a common issue and not specific to GE devices.
I had the same issue and my electrician was able to rewire the gfi outlet and it works amazing!! Was thinking going the route of bypassing it but electrician worked wonders!
#1 No one reviews like you. Thank you for sharing.
GE appliance was bought by Haier not too long ago. Haier is well regarded in Europe and Asia and this model incorporates a lot of niceties from other companies. Aside from having to unpack and install the heavy ass washer myself bc COVID, these machines are great! After living in Europe with their crappy washers for 10yrs these machines are a god send.
If anybody watching this buys them and installs them, remove the shipping bolts, sleeves and cross bars! Unpacking instructions only mention the bolts.
How is it now?
Is it still working in 2024?
@@stellabella5269 Yup, still running no issues. Even after being moved across country.
I don't know if you know this but you can disable the touch sensor by touching the light button for 3 seconds. It will go into child mode and all buttons are disabled until you press and hold on it again. This will also prevent accidental press.
Hey bud, 10 years on the direct drive motor, and the drum only. The two most durable parts are covered.. everything else is 1 year warranty. Might want to consider getting some kinda warranty upgrade, like squaretrade or something...
This is a very detailed video. I am looking into buying this. Did research on it but now that I watched your video I am sold. Thank you for making this video
Thank you so much. Watched both reviews. Looked at these yesterday and you sold me on them with the warranty response and reliability rating.
I love the idea of that fresh air vent! That may just convince me to get another front loader for my next washer Had our old LG one for over 10 years and it worked great, but it was always a pain to have to keep the door open, especially when we had a walk-through laundry room. I thought we were going to have to get a top loader to solve the problem.
Mine wont shut off
Our same washer at 16 months had the primary motor bears go bad and the motor had to be replaced. At 17 months the SmartDespense system stopped working even though we kept the tank clean. Waiting for this to get serviced, but expect that the five-valve body will have to be replaced. Your video is a great display of how good they work when they are running properly. GE's Service during the first year on any of our appliances were great, but they out source the extended warranty to Assurant who uses A&E and you never know what quality of tech you are going to get. Thanks again.
Just got a place of my own. I bought this 2am last night 😂. Thank you !!!
I order the stackable set and then saw these videos. You did a great job reviewing them and I love that you did a 6 month update. I’d love to see you review more house hold products (are you open for suggestions?)
They actually make a 3 inch and 7 inch riser for this particular model although they do not contain a drawer. The problem I have found with the 16 inch riser is that it is not very stable and it causes the washing machine to move around quite a bit.
The link for the info sharing between machines is less gimmicky and appreciated when the units are stacked.
The warranty info you mentioned. Know that these machines are under the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval and THAT covers everything. 😉
Excellent review! Just replaced our 18 yr old Maytag set with these three days ago. Purchased from a local chain with 5 year extended warranty. First time using a front load washer, but so far, so good. Loving the sanitize + allergen features as my husband suffers from dust mite allergies. The pedestals were not available from our retailer, and based on your review, I’m kind of glad we didn’t get them.
What do you think of these in the time you've had them?
My broke (washer ) only lasted less than 2 years … not a good washer
OMG I swear by Samsung and was on the fence. I just purchased and thank you. I am officially excited about the GE Ultra Fresh. didn't know it had a light. love the spin only feature and I didn't hear you mention if it were quite. Someone else's comment stated such. Bought the Saphire. Thanks!!!!
Have you cleaned out the trap on washer?, it would be great if you posted a short video of that. Thanks for all the great info on these machines, it took us close to 3 months to get them delivered.
Thank you! I was on the fence because they are a bit pricey for what I need, but I really like all of the features.
Just purchased both. I am so excited!
Just purchased these today based on the first review you did. We get them next week. Can’t wait. Thank you!

Do they still work?
As soon as I got my GE 850s delivered last month, a smart appliance tech figured out a way to correctly fix my disabled Kenmore washer. And I thought of returning the still boxed -up GE 850s.
But after watching your review, I decided to keep them. I'm installing them as I write this comment.
Thanks for your detailed attention to the performance of the GE 850s for this review.
....and I subscribed too.
Just in case you haven't found out yet, you can lock the controls. We have the same set, and kept pausing the cycle by bumping the machine. All you have to do it hit the control lock/light button and hold for 3 seconds. You'll have to turn it off again to start a new load. Great video, thanks.
That still doesn’t prevent you from hitting the off button.
I just got back from the home depot to replace my more than decades old set. Went with the intention of getting LG but made a last minute switch to GE. The vent sold me on it. Only thing is they are on back order due to the manufacturing delays due to covid. So not getting it for a couple months. Got home and pulled reviews to make sure I made a good choice and gotta say you've put my mind at ease. Thank you for the reviews on these.
After 3 years how are you liking them?
Is your washer still working?
did you buy the extra protection plan?
You did a great job explaining everything in this video and I agree if you buy appliances stick to the brands u trust Whirlpool ,FRIGIDAIRE, Maytag, Electrolux, GE. Samsung makes good tvs & cell phones not appliances
I just purchased these. It's very reassuring to hear that you are so pleased.
How is it?
Do they still work?
did you buy the extra protection plan?
How well is it holding up now? 4 years later. We just grabbed one of these and are excited about using it
It seems since the Chinese company Haier purchased GE in 2016 the products are much better and the service is great.
Thank you for this review, especially since its a 6 month review. I really appreciate you going so indepth about the GE washer and dryer that you even covered GE's customer service. Lots of reviews tend to leave that part out, so thank you for that.
I'm looking to buy a new washing machine from Best Buy during Labor Day and this is the washer thats caught my eye because of the UltraFresh Vent System and the Microban Antimicrobial Technology. Plus I like the fact that the door can be installed on either side of the machine.
Great review 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks again 😊
Well for the rest of use you can run a 1/4 cup of Clorox thru the short wash cycle and that refreshes the entire washer. Leaving the door open after washing helps it dry out as well. 😉🙃
I think white vinegar maybe better 😁🤗
@@richardhowe4140 vinegar damages the seals. Just keep door open when not in use.
@@richiesd1 ok.. thanks 😊
Love our GE front load washer.
I just got my set and love them! I could not figure out how to use the auto soap dispenser and you answered my question! Great video!
My dryer was DOA on initial hookup. The dryer turned on did all bells and whistles, but did not get hot at all. Called the GE service line and is supposed to get a tech out to work on it. These items are too $$$ to be doa. I'll keep fingers crossed on speedy fix.
How is it now?
It’s like it’s meant to be! My washing machine went out and I was considering this washing machine. I appreciate your review and trust what you’re saying. Thanks for your content.
Hi I was wondering if you could do a video with the washer running I’m really wanting to get these but I was a video of the washer shaking really bad and I really appreciate all your reviews
Agree. I'm trying to find video reviews of GE, LG, Samsung while running for comparison. Many complaints online about shaking and noise from pump and during rinse cycle
Most excessive shaking is due to the machine itself being unlevel. They usually have adjustable feet to accommodate unlevel floors, which most people have to some extent.
First troubleshoot would be to check it's leveling.
I just moved into my apartment and I’m interested in getting a washer that will last even if I move. I was thinking about getting LG but I will now check out GE!! I’m a customer service specialist do it’s nice to hear they care about their customers
congratulations. I purchased my ge load top from pc Richard and son same price. same day delivery. iam so happy I got my merchandise big truck and big rv. i plan to retire in 9 years.
Thank you so much, for the review! We are looking purchase a stackable washer/dryer, we have to look at GE now!
Thanks for the review, I'm gonna purchase the washer and dryer
Thank you so much for taking the time that you have, to not only post the 1st review of these items, but equally as important, the 6mo. (updated/follow-up) review as well. As a household of three individual 1st responders, and the current pandemic related events, we were looking to replace a washer and dryer that was approximately 12yrs old and on their last legs. We placed an order for the two GE units you've reviewed, and based our purchase, in part, on your video reviews. So thank you once again.
Im in your exact situation. Our dryer is still going strong despite their age but our washer is now dead. Ive been looking all over and this review has been fabulous. I’m leaning more to GE now instead of LG
Does the dryer require a hot or cold water connection?
I have the same washer and dryer and love them the best I’ve ever owned

How long have you had it?
Just got my set today
I had to do the same thing with my cabinets and cut the trim out.
Literally yesterday I was wondering when the update on the washer and dryer will be coming. I was thinking of asking today, then I see the notification.
We have this pair and the washer would not connect to wifi from day one. One week after we got it, the washer started rocking, and has been getting progressively worse ever since. I made sure the feet were balanced, and it's still rocking.
I just ordered mine today! I got the blue as well. Thank you for your great review videos
Do you like or even use the wash and dry small load cycle?
After 3 years how are you liking them?
Great Video. I hope you do a 1 year follow-up!
Thank you for the update!
My friends and family have these units and really like them. I have used them and decided, after doing research, to buy a pair myself. I really like all of the features they have, when they work. Unfortunately, the day after I got them I discovered the wifi doesn't work on the washer. That night I found the "less time" and light button don't work on the dryer. Since I discovered these things within 48 hours of purchasing GE is going to replace both units. I still really like the units and am excited to get them, but disappointed that both have features that don't work and more than likely are electronics related. Particularly possibly button related which you mention you don't like. So, if anyone decides to get a pair be sure you go through and try everything you can within the first 48 hours so you can get the unit(s) replaced rather than repaired if something is wrong.
I've been looking at the GE pair for almost a year waiting for the price to go down. They won't budge. The price is locked by GE and it's the same everywhere. You videos are fantastic and I feel more confident about buying the GE washer and dryer now. Thanks for the straightforward information.
Lowes has them on sale this week!
@@chagen82 Lowes has them for $999, but Home Depot's price is $899. That's what they've been all year.
I did it. I got the GE pair washer model 650 with matching dryer, about 2 months ago. I love these machines. Very quiet and no shaking. Handles large loads well and everything smells fresh.
This video was the decision maker… thank you.
both your videos helped us determine which units to purchase for our home. We just got them installed today, a great Christmas present for everyone in the family. I've always just used simple units with no modern features so this was a big step forward. I feel a lot more secure about the giant purchase decision thanks to your uploads. It is much appreciated. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and hope you have a Happy New Year!
Do you still like them?
@@CR-mx6tj hey there! After two years of ownership and usage, we are still satisfied with our purchase. The only gripe i have would be the app you can download and link the appliances to. It definitely isn't the best user interface, nor is it simple to completely unserstand. It lacks features that I'd wish something this expensive would have such as allowing me to set any setting i want virtually, such as extended spin or extra rinse or whatever. We either can't figure that out, or its simply not there. The performance of both appliances is fantastic though. Just make sure to keep up with thoroughly cleaning it ( checking filters, and scrubbing the antimicrobial rubber around the front door) as that definitely will impact the quality and smell of your clothes and such. My other issue is the air vent system to dry the inside of the washer isn't exactly that effective. I feel like it wastes way too much power spinning for hours. I usually leave the door ajar with the light turned off just to make drying more efficient. If you have any other concerns or questions, let me know! Hope this helps!
just got mine delivered from Lowe's yesterday and yeah, they are SUPER tall with the pedestals. I plan to wash everything in the house today! 🤣 Also, great video!
Best review I found for the GE washer and dryer. You are very detailed in all you covered. I know it’s been over a year since you did this review but I’m in the market looking for a new washer and dryer and I just saw this GE today at Costco and I wanted to ask you if you and your wife are still happy with the washer and dryer and if any issue with mold or mildew build-up. I would appreciate it if you let me know because this is the only brand of front loader washer that has a reversible door and that’s a must for me for my set up in my laundry room. TFS!
My husband and I just purchased these sets and I came across your video when looking for more info about them. These were very informative videos and I can not wait to receive ours! They will be coming next week! Also, maybe GE should want to work with you! well done on your video. I actually was looking on the GE site and someone asked if there was a way to turn off the rinse cycle and just do an extra spin. The answer they provided was unfortunately no. Haha, Immediately you demonstrated it is possible. thank you! Have a wonderful day!!

@@danielshallberg9266 wonderful, I have zero complaints!!
This was so helpful! I got these as a gift and I had no idea it did all this stuff.
Nice review. Thanks! Not sure what the big deal about moldy seals is. I've had several front loaders and keeping the door ajar and making sure the drain holes in the gasket are clean is all it took to keep they gasket mold-free and the clothing never smelled moldy. Sometimes cloths can get that smell if they are left in the machine to long and it doesn't have that 'stay fresh' cycle that spins them around after the cycle is over.
If u don't have a solid floor ur washer will shake and vibratie but if u have a solid floor and it shake vibratie than u have to adjust the feets properly
Great review. I currently have an older GE Profile that was a complete set until the dryer died. It also had the sync feature from washer to dryer. LOVED IT. It worked via a serial cable. My home warranty company replaced the dryer and the feature was no where to be found at the time. I hate (really don't care for it) the dryer. The washer is being replaced and this is the model they are replacing it with. Your videos provided me with some good research. I have the same issue with the cabinets and pedestal but mine is more like 3 inches. My wife was not happy with that news. So now I have to do a custom pedestal /cabinet. After watching the reviews I probably will buy the matching dryer if I can find a good price.
Thank you for taking the time on both reviews.
It's been 3 years since you posted your video review. Do you have an update on your washer dryer? would love to know if the Microban and dryer vent work as expected and if you have had any reliability issues. Thanks for posting your initial video.
I have had mine for 3 years. Microban and dryer vent are fine, but my self-clean cycle has never worked, and my washer won't fill with water and keeps throwing an H20 code. I just got a new water inlet valve in the mail today. Hopefully that solves the issue otherwise my $2000 set is shot after 3 years. Knowing what I know now, I would not buy them again.
I bought mine this past weekend
I just ordered these today and then found your review. This was very helpful and thourough and has given me a lot of confidence in my decision. Thanks for the measurement tip, it's just going to fit in my laundry room. Excellent work putting this out.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but GE appliances are owned now by a Chinese company (Haier) now, GE sold it off a couple of years ago. The new company have the rights to put GE on the appliances for like 50 yrs. Not to say it isn't a quality product.
