  • This snake rack is truly bioactive. Is it the ultimate, happy medium snake enclosure? maybe. could this have been done better? definitely.. but it works and I'm real excited to share it with you.
The goal of 'bioactive' is to create enclosures that looks and act like nature. Isopods, springtails and live plants work hand in hand to create a decomposition cycle. They're nearly maintenance free, and create an enriching environment for your reptiles or amphibian friends.

Very cool build id like to see the industrial breeders try something similar but this was neat to prove there are so many better ways to use racks rather than your basic papertowels and small water bowl

Don't feel bad about the Fittonia dying...those are fussy plants that I couldn't keep alive even under ideal circumstances. Also, Pothos are perfect for a rack system since they don't really get tall!

I can promise it will happen but not in the short term. Ive had some species of pygmy chameleons on my wish list for a long time so it'll happen

I wonder if the light would work without cutting the tub and adding mesh to the side. I’m considering doing this in my sub adult racks as an experiment before doing this with all 30+ of our snakes

That’s a great question. Since UV light penetrates glass I wonder if it can get through plastic. I’m thinking the tubs would have to be clear and not frost white. I bet that drilling holes close together would work though, at least on one side

I would be afraid that the tape wouldn't hold to keep a snake from pushing through the screen.
