Big tip to seal all the cracks just use small clear tape (waterproof) it will make the cracks not leak water making it float.hope this helps❤😊

My grandfather is a former Navy plane captain, which is someone who checks all of the jet engines to make sure they are in tip top shape before they launch the plane off the aircraft carrier. My grandfather worked on the USS Kitty Hawk and the USS Enterprise (not the Star Trek ship). He was stationed out in California during that time back in the 80s.

When he worked at NASA, he was in charge of working on the main engines for all 7 of the space shuttles, from Endeavor to Discovery. I got to see Atlantis at the space center a few years ago. It is much larger and much more beautiful in person than on a photo.

This is super cool! I saw a video from ten years ago called “”Tutorial” Building Floating Lego Ship”” by FreeRunGT that was fully brick built, and I think it would be insane to see a massive version of it for a ship at a scale like this.

As an avgeek, this is the most beautiful lego build I have ever seen. It is also VERY accurate to real carriers, such as the catapult launch system and elevators, even down to the mechanisms.

My brain shut off when he put sponges in the carrier. That would make it heavier, sinking it.

Next time you try to make a boat like this, forget the saran wrap. A better bet is to maybe use a single layer on the bottom of the boat and then use a double hull on the perimeter. You can then fill that with expanding foam and it will help buoyancy and might be enough to waterproof the bricks as well.
Make a cruise ship with a funnel 14 story decks and a bulbous bow and propellers

One thing you could do is to put balloons or something in the bottom which would be airtight and would make sure a significant portion of air in the bottom would be irreplaceable. You could also do Tupperware or something if that would be geometrically easier

I built a Lego boat 25 years ago, around a block of carved polystyrene. (so it didn't need to be watertight)
The propeller axis passed through the hull with a seal to protect the engine.
(There was no remote control at the time, si I had to make a special long wire up to the battery)

Build another big boat but you have to put it in water as soon as it can float and build it already floating

If I only had the amount of pieces needed. Good build. Issues i have tho is the elevator. Real modern carriers have deck-edge elevators due to the disadvantages of having them in the middle of the flight deck. Some other details you could've added are some air defenses like Phalanx CIWS. Overall what an amazing build
Other than the regular big ship pieces, I wonder if there's a way to make a LEGO boat airtight using strictly LEGO elements.
