Madonna y Stephen Bray compusieron «Causing a Commotion» para la banda sonora de la película''Who's That Girl?'' (1987). La cantante usó como inspiración su relación tumultuosa con su entonces marido, Sean Penn, ya que sintió que su matrimonio estaba al borde de la ruptura, debido al carácter abusivo y violento de Penn. El 10 de septiembre de 1987, Rolling Stone publicó un artículo donde Madonna habló sobre el impacto de Penn en su vida y en la canción. Al respecto, señaló:
''No me gusta la violencia. Nunca toleré que golpearan a alguien y nunca pensé que la violencia debería haber tenido lugar. I saw this movie as a child. I had no idea what the hell was going on in the plot, but I was so obsessed with her style, attitude and music it didn't matter 🖤💋
It is completely beyond me how one could possibly underrate or overlook this song. I was 8 years old when I first heard it and I immediately went crazy about it. It's one of my all time Madonna favourites.

Same here. I loved this whole soundtrack. I think it was my second favorite because I really loved Who’s That Girl. Both are Definitely in my top 5 Madonna songs of all time.
I miss the 80's so much, I wish I could go back, back when romance still existed and everything was possible, the last naive era.. 💔

I totally forgot about this song and how good it is. It's always under the radar and I'm pretty sure it's not on any of her greatest hits or compilation albums. A rare 80's gem!

to this day i tell my stories to the youngsters as im now 52 years old and was born in 1970, i can't tell you how lucky i feel for that, if i could come back id ask again to be born in May of 1970 AGAIN, the eighties???? mesmerizing, the nineties??? absolutely magical...Madonna??? just a unicorn we danced to her music nonstop it was the most magical time i cant explain in words its very hard to do so, even the air smelled different.

Who's That Girl is one of those "So bad, its good" type of films to watch. Sure it was a flop, but the music...who couldn't resist such awesome 80s style pop that takes you back to a time you were born in that decade and didn't even know too much about Madonna, other than her earlier albums released at that time.
Love this song and how Madonna references "Into the Groove".
This single went to number 2 in the US and top 10 in Europe...

I do admit I was never a huge Madonna fan but have always liked this song a lot, always felt this was one of Madonna's least appreciated songs of her career and the radio stations never seem to play this song or "Who's That Girl" often on the radio anymore.

Raymond Nolan Scott again, she had much more popular singles. This song should have stayed number one for a lot longer than six measly weeks. Also, this song was only #2 on the hot 100 for three weeks. And it was #37 on the adult contemporary charts. If you're gonna mention charts, list them all.

Desperately Seeking Susan ... I LOVED that movie.
I am sure people will meet this comment with some negative reaction, but if you lived through it, Madonna career is 1984 to 1989 (almost the exact years she was married to Sean Penn). Everything after that was different and it seems she wasn't being true to the person that EXPLODED on the scene in 1985.

Agree! I was crazy about this woman,loved her flirtiness, her looks and her great music ,but something happened after the 80’s came to an end and she became more of a shock queen. I never listened to her again.. there’s a big difference between being sexy and just being a skank!
1990 was her biggest year career wise (Vogue, Immaculate Collection, Blond Ambition Tour), she was on more magazine covers in 1990 than any living person in a single year in history, I would say she was unstoppable from late 1984-late 1992, with 1990 as her peak
@@bearcookie13 she definitely wasn't a shock queen from 1995-2008, she was extremely reserved and didn't use sex at all during that period, she did Evita, Ray of Light, Music etc, she started being sexy and shocking again in 2008 when she got divorced the second time but Madonna wasn't shocking or sexual at all from 95-08

As an 80s baby I wish I could explain to younger ppl how big Madonna was. She's not the most beautiful woman, but every man wanted her. I didn't have one friend that did not find her attractive she had a female swagger that is hard to explain.

I was 11 when this movie came out. I tried sneaking into this movie with my then best friends Dawn and Nicole at the Cinedome movie theater in Orange California in 1987. We didn't end up making it in to the movie.

One of Our Lady's most underrated songs, in my humble opinion. Of course, the movie 'Who's That Girl' totally bombed here in Australia, as I think it did everywhere, but the title track did pretty well in the charts. This song didn't do well and I only heard it once or twice on the radio. I liked it but must admit, didn't fully appreciate it. That is, until I saw her perform it live as part of the Blonde Ambition show, and it feckin' ROCKED!! I fully appreciated the song for what it is: a brilliant dance number that is pure Madonna genius!!

Wow. 1987....I was 14. This movie wasn't trying to be a masterpiece. It was just being crazy, silly, fun. Not taking itself seriously. How I miss Sam Goody. Damn where does the time go. I'd give anything to go back to this period. Ahh hell, just give me a time machine to take me back to the 80s, period.

i used to lovve this movie when i was a little kid... i used to love the tiger LOL . being a product of the 80s i was only 4 when this came out but i was old enough to already love madonna! my mother was a fitness instructor and used madonna mix tapes for her classes , by the time i was 3 i knew all of the songs up to the virgin tour . love M for ever . and the Whos that girl tour is still one of my all time favorites!! so good
