Make sure you read the blog BEFORE you make this for important info: bit.ly/KrockSoup
This is our second recipe video EVER and we definitely forgot to point out a couple of key things 😂 If you use DRY beans, they need to be cooked prior to putting in. Also I would recommend you make a single batch first to find the flavors YOU like best before doing the batch cook!

Ball has both pint (16 oz) and pint & 1/2 (24 oz) straight sided, wide mouth can or freeze jars that would be great to freeze the soup in. Guessing from the bowl size of your single servings they're somewhere between 16-24 oz anyway & the ball jars would take less space in the freezer than the big mixing bowl.

Also you can "Hot Pack" can the soup in pint (or quart) canning jars to take to work, and the lids seal so keeps in your fridge until you open it - then you want to use it within the week.

You can make the corn carrot sauce and add everything to the "I" Pot including the dry beans and cook it all for 1 hour. Vio la! Soup! That is what I do, very easy and saves a pot to wash.

I made this tonight. Omg. It was so good. I had to tweek it a little. Wal-Mart did not have carrot juice. I had a small package of baby carrots and 2 parsnips and 6 baby potatoes already steamed earlier today. I added that to the partially frozen sweet corn package in my Vitamix. Some nutritional yeast, dill, onion powder, garlic powder, dried habanero peppers, and minced garlic. A bit of water and .
.bam. You all are brilliant. It even tasted good cold. But then, I added a box of strained tomatoes. It turned into delicious creamy tomato soup! But, i added the frozen veggies packages you mentioned. And frozen cut okra.
It is DELICIOUS and filling. Thank you so much

You can also use cooked split peas as a base as well. It thickens the soup and makes it taste great. Use a dicer to dice carrots, onions, garlic, celery, tomatoes. Saute in water or veggie broth. Pulse in a food processor and add to the split pea base. Then add your veggies like cauliflower, broccoli, spinach or swiss chard. Simmer until all flavors and veggies are cooked. You can also add small macacroni or cubed potatoes.

    Great job, congrats!
I came back from my Primary Care physician earlier today, who is a proponent of eating a plant-based diet. I finally realized: it's important to keep a beginner's mindset when starting something new, else your brain will sabotage everything before you even begin. My doc called it "analysis paralysis" and I think she's right.
So I started Googling for recipes and found your inspiring story!
If I may suggest something new for you to try? You don't have to of course, but I've had amazing success with it and I'm doing a plant-based diet to push my health even further into the positive.
    Intermittent Fasting. :-)
From mid-January 2018 to April 2018 I went from 100 kg (220 lbs) to 72 kg (159 lbs) - a loss of 28 kg (61 lbs) without exercise and without changing what I ate. All I did was stop eating at 8pm and fasting until 12pm the next day.
Obviously this was not a 100% success. I looked and felt great, but my blood pressure and cholesterol were still awful - hence my starting a plant-based diet today! But this might work very well with your nutritarian diet. In either case, I'd be happy to let you know how nutritarian + fasting work together! (And a little light running thrown in - to boost my heart and lung health.)

Thanks for watching! So glad you found us! We have really enjoyed the switch to whole food plant-based. It can be overwhelming when you first start, but if you stick with it, it becomes easy and intuitive. Congrats on the weight loss! We have seen others finding success with intermittent fasting. Very interested to see how you progress combining that with the plant-based diet, so please keep us updated. I usually eat dinner around 7pm and have breakfast around 10am, but I have thought about trying to stretch that time out a bit longer between. We do avoid snacking in between meals, which I believe helps a lot. I actually get less hungry if I don't snack. The moment I grab a snack between lunch and dinner, I feel MORE hungry. Thanks for writing and can't wait to hear how it goes for you.

I love you guys! Your experience with eating potatoes and losing weight really inspired me. I have been unhappy with my diet for years, as it seems too complex, there are so many types of food available and I wanted to simplify. But I have been unable to get myself back onto a vegetarian diet for some time, got caught up in eating by impulse and just getting fatter and less mobile as a result. I gave up eating breakfast and dinner and started exercising one to two hours a day, but it was still not enough. When I knew that it was okay to eat only potatoes as a meal, I was able to switch quite easily to teaming up other vegetables with the potatoes and have stuck with salad and potatoes ever since. I am writing a recipe book as a result, feel very excited with this breakthrough.

I like filling soup and this is definitely a filling soup!
I assume u choose all the frozen veggies because u both work and it is easier to have them readily available rather than finding fresh veggies and then chopping....
I live in Israel. Not all these frozen veggies are as available in the supermarkets near me. However I can definitely fool around w the ingredients to make a soup that will be about 1/10th as yummy as yours, lol; I gotta work w what's available to me. I also am not working anymore.

frozen veg reheated on stove, then chilled in fridge, then reheated one more before serving might be too mushy compared to fresh, but i love your creamy carrot juice broth concept, i'd juice some ginger too to complex the flavor backnotes

I agree that freezing it in portion size containers is a great idea. But I’ve had mason jars break more than once in the freezer, and, no, I didn’t overfill them. So I recommend plastic or glass freezer-safe containers.

Cook once a week works for me and I have no one else living with me to please. (Breakfast and Lunch are also set items) One day I will get tired of them and shift to something else. Totally different flavor profile but this recipe reminds me of my favorite soup! I coop up lentils with broth, a small amount of tomato sauce, potatoes, and whatever veggies are going bad in the fridge. I also use a TON of seasonings just like Brian! that's the way to go :p I put kale in mine when it's almost done cooking, it's the only way I'll eat kale! Hate the stuff but it rocks in soup

This would heat up well in the Hot Logic Mini it’s like a lunchbox that plugs in!
    Thanks for the idea!

I'm new to the Penn Jillette/Fuhrburger lifestyle. I"m looking for vegetables meals I can freeze and bring to Burning Man with me. I look forward to trying this recipe.
By the way, you did great on the video.

Thank you very much! This is one of our favorite recipes to batch cook. We also make large batches of chili and freeze them. Still working on perfectly our chili recipe, but we will put a video out sometime in the future. Check out Brand New Vegan if you haven't already - Chuck has a ton of great recipes that helped us a lot when we first started!
