@@shamsrehman4537 but everybody remember their stats but nobody remembers the actual impact he had on that team who only depended on 4 players at that time.. Lara, Walsh, Ambrose and Hooper (Richie Richardson till 1996-97)

If I had to pick one between Ambrose and Walsh for Tests, I would readily pick Walsh because he has taken a lot more top-order wickets than Ambrose. Also, Walsh was a work-horse that would toil very hard and bowl long spells to provide break-throughs even in unhelpful conditions. An under-appreciated genius! P.S.: For ODI's, I would pick Ambrose ahead of Walsh as he was much harder to score off of...
When most fast bowlers (especially those from the West Indies) were concentrating on speed, Walsh was more about accuracy and a the best way to outsmart the batsmen. He was one of the first to use the "three card tricks ," two leaving the batsmen and the third cutting back in to the batsmen. He would also do it in reverse. Two cutting back just outside off and then the third would leave the batsmen just enough to get the edge. Marvelous craftsmanship. No wonder he is one of the best the world has ever seen.
it was unbelievable how he generated that pace and bounce with such a smooth action. As 90s kids, i tried copying his action, only to find that my bowling speed would turn into that of a leg spinner ...lol
His bowling action was pretty simple and hence more repeatable, he didn't even bend his back all the way through, mainly because he didn't have to due to his natural strength. Always a legend, Walsh! Would love to see a video on Arvinda De Silva as well.
He is a legend of the game - Absolutely amazing bowler. Much underrated because of the company he was in. Truth be told, he is amongst the best bowlers ever. Played the game with blemish too. 😊👏
2:32 i watched the match with graham Thorpe . He bowled two balls like this and got him in both innings. The exact same bawl lol. Thorpe was afraid of his bouncers.
A perfect gentleman in the game of cricket, a dream bowler, a bowler whom I envy. How could be a bowler be so cool never showing any anguish in the field. Love you Walsh.
I loved his bowling action (overall performance) of Walsh. A fantastic bowler made batsmen think twice before go for a shot. Also, a gentleman of the game. Much love from Sri Lanka
he was a fantastic bowler that could control the ball , I would say he was more skilled than Ambrose , Ambrose had height and aggression with pace , but Walsh was super clever , he had a ball that would swing in and seam away , he could seam the ball in and out , really terrific bouncer , was a master at coming round the wicket , he had two great performances as captain abroad , I still remember that 10 wickets at lords , he had a great slower bowl.He used to get Graham Thorpe out with that one , Walsh had a great career and at the same time a bit unfortunate one , he used to get dropped a lot early in his career , he had to bowl against the wind and be first change to Marshall and Ambrose . He had glorious years for Gloucestershire. A true giant of the game.
These big tall guys with big hands who generally move the ball into the bat also get leg cut on the ball as a natural variation. With Walsh's height and accuracy that's a nightmare ball to any right hander. That's why I think he did so well in India. Some would slide in and others would grip and move away off the pitch. Tremendous bowling. His short ball also followed the batter and lifted steeply off a length.

Very good bowler, his attributes were mainly seam and bounce. I watched him for years and that delivery in the beginning of the video is the first time I’ve ever seen him swing a ball😂 With his smooth open chested action and angle he was much more effective to right handers than left handers. A good left hander could get on top of him because the ball was pitching way outside leg stump. If he was playing today he’d be even better imo. He would master the wobble ball and bowling around the wicket to left handers and average closer to 20 than 26 or whatever his avg finished as.

How good ? Well, he was given the new ball for the first time a decade after making his debut and by then he was already 31 years old, an age at which most pace bowlers, even the greatest of them, start displaying signs of decline. But in Walsh's case, starting from becoming the new ball bowler and Ambrose's partner-in-crime to being the solitary leader of a pack of young and inexperienced pacers in his penultimate seasons, he took over 300 test wickets averaging 23 in 8 years, 180 of them coming in 39 appearances AFTER he turned 35. He didn't just soldier on, he kept getting better and better right upto the last delivery of his international career, in the process becoming the first to scale the Himalayan landmark of 500 test scalps. That's not at all the mark of a good bowler ? These are the traits of an OUTSTANDING bowler beyond doubt. Only thing going against him is he attained his peak in the aftermath of the downfall of the West Indies as world champions.
