Loretta had 4 babies pretty much back to back b4 she got really popular and then the twins while she was HUGELY popular.. I think she had her first baby at 15 or 16 because she married Doolittle at 14. Yeah things were different back in the Holler in the 1940's. She will always be the Queen to me.. she did it all..she wrote her music from her life experiences and never made herself into anything but a Country Girl
The Pill was first available in 1960 was only available to married women. Some doctors didn't want to prescribe it for moral reasons and some doctors were willing to change their records for singe women to show that they are married so they could prescribe it. Just like now, 65 years later, women's choices were dictated by others. The Supreme Court ruled in 1972 that single women had as much of a right to the Pill as married women did. I was in High School at the time and this decision, plus Roe v Wade the following year, made me really glad I was becoming a woman at that time. 1974 was when it became legal for women to have credit cards in their own names instead of their husbands. Freedom to make all my own choices about my person and my finances!
And the relationship between men and women has gotten better or worse?
This was a ground breaking song. It was banned in some states..
Loretta tackled a lot of taboo topics for us women, May the Gods rest her soul
Recommended: The Pill (full edition), Fist City, Coal Miners Daughter, You Ain't Woman Enough to take my man, and Louisiana Woman/Mississippi Man (w/ Conway Twitty)
The Queen of 'real' country music, Loretta Lynn! She wrote controversial songs that were unheard of in those days. A few were banned on the radio! Imagine that! I had the pleasure of seeing her a few times!
You didn't hear the whole song. You should ck out both songs. Loretta has had 14 of her songs ban from Country radio. She didn't write "One's on the way." But she did write "The pill." When a song by Loretta was banned by Country radio, it became a hit for her.
It is surprising that Shel Silverstein, known for his children's books, wrote "One's on the Way," a song that has such an authentic voice of a mother with six children like Loretta Lynn
The UNDISPUTED QUEEN of Country Music!!!?
One of the true Queens of country music 🎶...Coal miners daughter is a great song she wrote too...
Whenever I used to hear this song, it always made me think of one of my uncles and aunt. They had 10 kids and seemed like she was always pregnant. Ha Ha!
she sure knew how to stir the pot ROFL LOVE HER
WHAT'S SO GREAT IS...SHE WASN'T EVEN TRYING TO STIR THE POT...JUST SINGING ABOUT EVERY DAY THINGS IN HER LIFE!!😂😂😂😂😂
You should watch the movie about her life called *Coal Miner's Daughter* and listen to the song she wrote with the same name.
Those were short versions of the songs . By the time Loretta was 20yrs old she had 4 kids. A few years later she had twin girls. The Pill was not played on mainstream radio. It was very controversial. But Loretta didn't care. She wrote about her life.

I'm bummed, she didn't say, "Oh lord I hope it ain't twins again" at the end of "One's on the Way"
This is a medley of ones on the way and the Pill. She has so many great songs. Rated x, you wanna give me a lift, fist city, squaws on the warpath, etc .
It's like Loretta said she was the first to tell it like it was and way women living it
She did an album produced by Jack White. They did a duet on it called Portland, Oregon. You should check it out.
LOL I can relate to her she was my hero
True fact, Loretta Lynn the matriarch of country western music. She was the longest living Opry female member over a six decade career. Before her death definitely the queen of country music.
❤
The song was so controversial that radio stations didn't want to play, well .... as humans, if we're told no, that's when we want it more, so at the time, women were for it but men were not. It was a huge debate, but the women won out in the end. They were tired of being baby machines. It was #1 for a long time. Loretta wrote and sang songs that resonated with her family (husband mainly) and the people. What a treasure we lost.
Why is this reactor always displaying 1 eye symbol 🤔
It's #1 on iTunes atm. I heard it the weekend it dropped. It's pretty catchy.
VAN Lear Rose by Loretta Lynn

She's so good!
I found out about her watching the 1980s movie Nashville Lady. 😊
Love it😂
