This was an incredibly important, impactful conversation. "everyone's fighting a battle you know nothing about." those words really hit me hard. I won't make this about me, but thank you so much for having this conversation and putting it out there

on the other hand, if you approach people with that quote in your mind, the world will crush you sooner or later. the one thing that I have learned way too late is that people like to bite hand that feeds and then piss on leftovers.

I needed this for multiple reasons. I love your channel and I’m a big fan of Adam and LS. I ended a long term relationship in Feb, I’m a father working 10-10pm to make ends meet. Today is one of the good days but I’ve really been struggling lately. Not be cliche; but this interview made me feel like I’m not alone. Pain Remains I reminded me of my mothers death and my failed relationship at the same time, so the album really hit home for me. Thank you for this Finn and if you see this Adam, Thank you as well. We talk on IG time to time and Adam def is as real, cool and genuine as he comes off.

    Fuuuuck this hurts to watch.
Depression sucks so much and it's so weird to see someone else explain exactly how it feels how regardless what positive things are happening around your head is just dragging you down. I'm medicated now and it's helped a lot, I'm so fucking grateful Adam is pushing through, was incredible to see them live with parkway in London. All the best to him

Before this interview, I was absolutely embarrassed for being so depressed over an ended relationship in my life. Not even just the relationship ending, but losing my brother at the age of 21. Just that feeling of never being happy despite how good things would go for me in life. Hearing Adam talk about this makes me feel less embarrassed for being so upset 24/7 and gives me hope that things will get better. I feel like I’m just rambling on, but I hope he knows how helpful and inspiring this interview was to me. I needed the Pain Remains so Thank you.

I love that man. On top of his ability to write unbelievable music, play insane riffs and solos, and bring us content that makes us tear up...he knows that he's still a human and allows himself to be vulnerable to help others. The world needs more like him. Adam is BY FAR my favorite guitarist on Earth and anyone that knows him on a personal level...well, they just don't realize how lucky they are.

The album dropped literally the day after my gf at the time left me, and obviously with that dropped part 3 of the trilogy. I remember laying there on my sofa alone listening to the album, fighting the temptation to do something bad to myself…
But I feel like I was subconsciously helped so much by the trilogy
I don’t cry easily and it brought tears out that really needed to escape. I’ll forever be grateful to Lorna for these songs and the help they gave me, and they’ll forever be the most special songs to me

This is the best and most honest interview about the topic of depression I have ever watched. Thanks to both of you for that, it opened my eyes about a lot of issues I am going through myself. And on another note - I was at Summer Breeze (German Festival) in August - it was the biggest crowd Lorna Shore was playing so far (and the whole stream is watchable on youtube!). It was amazing. And the Pain Remains Trilogy is one of the most beautiful and powerful experiences I ever had with music. And this album is an absolute masterpiece. They just single-handedly invented the Symphonic/Melodic/Cinematic Deathcore genre!

I watched this as I was getting ready for work this morning. It’s what I needed to hear. I struggle with depression too. It’s like my life isn’t bad, but sometimes my brain will just say some wild shit out of no where and It doesn’t make sense. Dancing through the flames came out the week my Pa was in the hospital, he was diagnosed with acute leukemia. He passed the day before my birthday. That song got me through understanding his suffering.
It is now helping me with the grief. This band doesn’t realize how impactful and helpful their music has been in my life. I’m so thankful for them. I can’t wait to see them next week in Nashville. I also love how excited Adam was when Fin said he was coming out to their show. ❤

Depression is so difficult but so important to talk about. The more we talk about it, the more we learn. There doesn't always have to be a reason. It isn't rational-sometimes it just happens. I've had similar in the past and I'm glad you dudes are doing better as well.

For me, it becomes this weird social thing where I don't want my burdens to become someone else's burden, so I try and laugh it off or something to help diminish what it is I'm feeling. Then at the same time I get angry for feeling the way I do and it becomes this vicious cycle of self depricating thoughts and feeling worthless. Espcially when I know other people I talk to might be going through worse or having their own struggles so I feel like who am I to complain, or feel like I don't want to shift the focus to me when I know they are the ones that need me to be strong for them in the moment. Then a lot of times I feel like I don't have time to get help because then it takes the place of other responsibilities I have and then I get more upset because I feel like I am just failing everyone and everything because I can't seem to get my own shit together. Then I get overwhelmed and shut down and waste time on UA-cam shorts, Facebook, T.V., etc and feel even shitier about myself for wasting that time I could have used to do something I actually needed to do or actually scheduled something to help myself... Depression sucks

This interview made me respect him and the music he gives us so much more. Fuck anyone who guilts or shames people for being depressed while also their life is considered "successful". You cant control it ,and it doesn't have anything to do with how successful you are. Mental illness kills and metal has been a very negative and unwelcoming place for this discussion. These guys are making history and such an impact with their music in so many ways. I love their art and wish the absolute most success and happiness to all of them!!

Thank you both. This was the first time I felt, that there are people out there, who can understand the dillema about depression. You have a good life, a great husband who cares deeply for you and tries to help, but it doesn't work. It makes you feel guity and you fall deeper. The more he tries the more you spiral down. Thank god, finaly he always found something that helped. This year he got me into reaction videos and made me watch "Operation Throat Camera". So I found something new. Lorna Shore was a total new experience. It gave me the energie to make an appointment with my psychiatrist and now I'm in a much better headspace. And by the way, I love Tool 🥰

I'm most excited to hear Adam comment on the validity of authenticity and not trying to second guess what's gnna earn more fans. Lorna Shore has been on the periphery of my 'radar' for years and only with the vocalist reshuffling, and the Immortal album did they really command my full attention. After recognising their talent, and confirming that they can offer at least one album to match my tastes I decided to head back and go through their back catalogue. I now have tracks off of most of their albums/ep's in my regular playlist and am grateful for them evolving consistently because it makes their entire discography valid. When fan's finally find a song they fuck with you want there to be depth for them to go back and appreciate, if they only got into one song that you artificially engineered to garner attention then you're not gonna grow a loyal fanbase that will come see you live.
Bring Me are such a great example of sticking to your creative 'guns' in spite of the backlash from fans (initially) and continuing to make music you believe in. As Adam also noticed and commented on, we can tell when stuff's fake and we don't tend to respond well to it - make music you believe in and the fans that dig it will evangelise for you because they connect to it. I'm so glad LS have gathered the strength of following they finally have, and can see Wills charisma building this further as long as they're all committed to continuing to make great songs. Touring internationally with bands like PWD and BMTH are enormous landmarks in LS's story so far, so I hope the boys revelled in those experiences and felt the love, if they have enough sense to try to use those tours a learning experiences to keep pushing themselves further then I'm EVEN more excited for what else they have for us.
There's already a lot of thanks in this comment thread, I want to add mine too. I'm not a die hard Finn stan, and this is the first interview I've seen with Adam so I think it's important I express my gratitude when such a great interview leaves me so satisfied.
Good luck LS, and thank you Adam for sticking through the turmoil - your hard work and fortitude are certainly appreciated =]

I subscribed after this. Both of you said the exact words that have been circling my mind for a long time. I laughed, I cried. And, I felt validated. Thank u both so much. Adam is, in my opinion, the best guitarist alive today. He's amazing. Thanks again!! ❤❤❤❤

I actually found a lot of what Adam mentioned here in the album! For instance, when he spoke about how people have different highs and lows, and thus it's impossible for someone to judge or compare someone elses grief or life experience.
That's how I interpret the "black and white" references in the lyrics to Soulless Existence after hearing this interview, anyway.
Killer, killer work. I'm super excited for the album! 👏

The comparative suffering & guilt. Oh man, I feel this so much. Story of my life... Thank you for your brutal honesty. We are all allowed our own feelings & experiences, regardless of what anyone else has experienced. It's a daily process of learning to validate my own feelings, just like I do for others.
I definitely agree that criticism means you're doing something right. The only way to avoid criticism is do absolutely nothing & die. Even then, you'd probably be criticized! It's just human nature, for better or worse. But I do wish people would just learn to agree to disagree.
Adam is clearly extremely introspective & intelligent. Excellent interview!

I just went through a mental breakdown 6 months ago and im still recovering from it. Over the last ten years everything just snowballed together and hit me like a ton of bricks. I know how you feel and felt at that time. I forced myself to make try and make a complete 180 and i feel a lot better now. Not that ive gotten over it, but that im learning to accept it and grow from it. Even though its a lifelong and sometimes daily struggle, I hope everyone going through this a healthy recovery! Much love
