    You need to keep in mind that it's a black class knife design for first responders / military / tactical use. And for those folks who carry a ton of stuff all day long ounces count. And it's not just a polymer handle it's a carbon fiber polymer blend and the thing is absolutely bulletproof from the testing I have seen people do with it I mean real abusive stuff.
    I bought one because I wanted an OTF that was actually useful and not some sort of mall ninja looking high dollar unpractical blade shape and lightweight is definitely a selling point for me with my lifestyle.
    Allegedly they're doing the steel at 63 to 65 and I've been real impressed with it in my use even when I bounced it off of staple and had to sharpen out minor edge damage

      @calebray4168 Рік тому

      I’ve used my to open bottles. It takes a shitload of force and a real sharp edge to actually mark the handle material and for that matter the blade coating as well.

    $270 for a good OTF is downright *reasonable* for people who want a knife to be a knife and not "pocket jewelry".

    It is probably my favorite knife forever. It's a workhorse. By accident I stepped as hard as i could on mine & nothing happened, & I weigh 350lbs. Out the center with cru wear, super grippy & the lightest knife I own? SOLD!

    I love mine. I’ve used the hell out of it the past few weeks. Slices very well. Easy to sharpen. The best part for me is the handle. It feels oversized and well rounded so holding onto it for strong cutting is a pleasure.

    I remember my first time going to a knife store and seeing a hellcat thinking "I'll open this no problem", I did not even get close to opening it. Had to use two hands and tremble to push that new strong spring out (didn't buy it so not sure if that resistance goes away overtime) so the lighter spring on this knife is a massive plus for me personally.

    It is my favorite OTF that truly is an EDC. Lightweight and incredibly sharp out of the box. I like it much better than my Microtechs and Guardian Tactical for real practical use. "Workhorse" is right.

    I love how light it is. Absolutely invisible in pocket. That carbon fiber impregnated nylon is incredibly strong. Jerad, you should open it up or watch OCD-4-ECD's teardown video. The internal frame that holds the frame is steel and super solid!

    This knife is a tool, it works. I have this and the mini-bugout in that orange grivory. I have big heavy knives as well. I'd suggest going for perforamnce over weight. Bemchmade isn't making knives out of materials that are going to cause a bunch of returns because of breaking handles. They choose these materials because they are superior, best bang for the buck.

    I Have Had The Chance To Hold The Shoot Out and Yeah, Its Super Light To The Point You May Feel Like You Can Lose It. In Your Pocket You Don`t Know Its There. An Aluminum Body Would Make This One A No Brainer. Besides That, Benchmade Hit A Home Run.

    Really like the look of this one and like you I love Cruwear steel very tough and takes a great edge. Where it falls a little flat for me would be the weight (mind you I've never held it) and the movement of the blade (common in OTF's and one of the reasons I don't own any) and the glass breaker is something I don't need on a knife. But if your into super light knives this one is definatly worth a closer inspection. Thanks for the great vid and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

    Anyway you can check out the ridge summit knife. It’s $125 with d2 and aluminum and $175 with d2 and carbon fiber. I really want the carbon fiber to match my wallet but that seems like too much for what it is and only d2 steel. I’d love to know if you think it’s worth the price.

    I’ve had mine since November and throw it at a piece of plywood everyday and there is zero increase in blade wobble. Blade is super tough, takes a bit to sharpen but sharpens very nicely. It took me quite a bit of rough treatment to wear my working edge down. My dream is for an American made knife like this to be $200 or less. I’d buy my entire family a shootout if they were a little cheaper.
