I've just really gotten into nice knives this past year. I spent a lot of money very fast to build up a collection from scratch. The last one I bought was pretty pricey, and today I decided it's finally time I give my wallet a rest for a while. I have to accept that I can't own every single knife I love. Some of them I will just have to look at and appreciate on the internet

I have the spartan harsey 4 inch with the blue/bronze oculus design. The detail in the engraving and how the bronze compliments the blue is gorgeous. Even the screws are blue on the inside with the heads in bronze. Love the way all my Reate's look and they're also built so well. Some other favorite lookers are the Kizer SLT, Artisan centauri, Todd Begg field marshal, CRK large sebenza 21 with unique graphics and tiger's eye inlay, large 31 with macassar wood inlays, large inkosi with natural micarta inlays and tanto blade. Hinderer's have their own look, especially their clip sides, I like to call them industrial looking.
The malice in the strider style striping is so good looking

Awesome vid jared!! I’m really contemplating on buying a rockstead and maybe sell a could of my higher end knives. I just would love to own a rockstead but would have to sacrifice maybe a couple other knives to do it.

Oh man you just cost me another few thousand dollars! 😉. Starting with the full polish Rockstead and that incredible Reate K2. Love the sheepsfoot Griptilian in 20CV, but still have the old 154CM as well. Have a bunch of CRK Sebby drop points and one Tanto, but finding the Insingo blade in stock is a challenge. All great looking knives, and taste is definatly personal when it comes to looks. I love the look of big beefy overbuilt knives although they aren't always the best tools for the job, stuff from Andrew Demko, Cold Steel for example. Mind you I also appreciate the look of knives that alot of work was put into such as the mirror blade on the Rockstea Or fine detail work like what is on the Spartan knives. Definatly something for everyone out there, such a great time to be into knives. Thanks for the great vid Jerad and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

Well fair play my man i can and will agree with you on every single piece you displayed they’re all stunners funnily enough I was going too get a Bradley only a few months back but grabbed a super freak instead only because it’s the first time I had seen it back in stock for nearly two years. If I am honest though if i could pick one out of the lot it would be the purple Inca handled number it’s just ohh mamma notice i don’t even pay attention to who makes it or nothing it just grabs my eye balls and pulls them out on stalks lol😂 have a beautiful day J&K stay safe and healthy 😘👍🏼

I retired ahead of schedule and frequently find myself in more gentle company- where fidgety flipping and clickity clack do not meet with admiration or reflect an air of being at ease.
My Microtech DD and 🦋BM🦋 417 (among a precious few others) are "sleeping beauties" these days.
My old Case collection is too delicate to carry, let alone use for anything. But Lionsteel's traditional slip joints have really captured my eye in a big way! The Bestmans in ebony really send me! Waiting on a Warhorse Barlow to complete the desired set with BM1, 2, and 13... (which 🦋BM🦋 just made a fugly copy of.) My eye makes me impulsive! The M390 spearpoint and titanium bolsters on a curved ebony handle doesn't hinder that at all.

In knife collecting, there is an amazing thing. There are so many knives for everyone's taste. For example i love your videos. Very informational and entertaining. I love your excitement and the high quality of the knives in this video but i really wouldn't buy pretty much most of these knives. A knife that someone loves, the next one might not like to keep it even if you give it to him for free. It never stops to amaze me. Keep it up brother. I love your videos.
Yeah I think my eyes get attracted mostly to usefulness, because of my construction background, and I could have put 50 knives on a list. I'm surprised you didn't like the way one of these knives looked

Some knives i own that I think are beautiful are combat troodon, stitch, Spartan harsey, textured to ad 20.5, Spyderco Canis, Sodom elite, spydiechef, protech Strider and my g10 topped bronze utx 85
Nice - reminded me I have the same K2, never been used, I buy knives to use, never used this for some reason, I should sell it, but that would probably be more hassle than its worth...
I fully recommend buying what I did off ti connected. With threaded rod and two studs that you like for the sebenza.

My list of beautiful knives is 90% Shiros. Nothing else comes close for me to a monochrome Quantum, F95, F3, etc.. just perfect simple timeless cool. I can appreciate all the drip ano colors and textures and all that, but it’s not what I find most visually attractive personally. Give me a flawless fancy folding steak knife any day. 👍✌️

For me the most beautiful are the F5.5 Titanium (not Seigaha), Quiet Carry Waypoint, Pena Apache Large Carbon Fiber, , Sebenza 21, Quiet Carry IQ, Kubey Akino (cheap too), James Carter (I returned it because it was bad steel and overpriced but it was pretty), CRKT Piet (shocking becuase this is $20 but it's a good looking knife), Civivi Altus (imo the best looking Civivi), Giant Mouse Tribeca (in black G10), Miguron Pelora (pretty knife but I returned it), Manly Patriot in black (pretty knife but I returned it)

The Sodom is a great knife I wouldn't say it's the most attractive to me, now the Anax is another story but I didn't have one

I can spend hours, looking at my Endura.
i can agree on a few but anything sheepsfoot or wharncliffe is something i dont like at all and I will probably never buy a knife that have one or the other.
That’s the beauty of freedom of choice but i will say one thing about both they add a hell of a lot extra cutting power you can deliver but it horses for courses and you go with what you find appealing to you. Have a beautiful day and happy safe collecting of the metal beauty’s👍🏼

My eyes are very attracted to function, so maybe it's that. But I suppose being the most attractive out of a few other knives I coulda pit in its place was a stretch
I love the look of the grip but to me the mini grip looks better to my eyes. I have a full size sheepsfoot and a mini with thumb studs in tan.

Questions: 1) Spartan Blades SHF. Does the action feel stiff like the Sebenza? 2) Sebenza alternative. Which would you recommend as a better Chris Reeve alternative, the Spartan Blades SHF or Rockstead?
I have all three, 7 Sebenzas, 2 Rocksteads, and 1 Spartan Harsey.
The Rocksteads are smooth out of the box. My Spartan was super tight to open and close at first but I kept opening and closing it and now it is liquidy smooth, sort of like a greased feel.
I think the Spartan is more of a direct replacement for the Sebenza. The Rocksteads are a whole different level.

The Rockstead knives are a different breed of knife. I have a Chi and a Shin. They are on washers like the Sebenza and Harsey but they are smooth and easy opening out of the box unlike the other two brands.
Also the blade on a Rockstead is a whole league of their own. They are so sharp it seems like the object you are cutting is coming apart before the blade even touches it!
@@RSRS-ws3px I haven't experienced either Harsey or Rockstead, and I have them on my list of knives to try out for purchase, but I don't want to buy them online and then return them to a seller if I don't like them. So until I can catch them at a dealer location for hands-on inspection, any and all info you can share I really appreciate it!
@@YTLuc My Spartan Harsey I have only carried once. I thought I would carry it more often but I have the purple plague doctor version and it is too pretty too scratch up, that and it’s long blade are my only issues with it for a daily carry. I like to carry 3.5” and shorter for a daily.
The Rockstead Chi is a perfect size for me but it has two issues that sometimes bug me also. One, the scales are very smooth and sometimes slippery which doesn’t feel safe at times with sharpness of the blade. Rocksteads have the sharpest edge of any production knife I have yet to feel. Two, the mirror polished blades scratch and smudge easily which can be hard to let happen on a knife this expensive.
The Shin being bigger than the Chi is also fairly heavy and even more slippery because of its size. The Tei might have good grip since it has more ray skin cutouts but it also cost way more.
I am sitting here with the Chi and one of my large Sebenzas. The Chi feels like it is slightly heavier than the large Sebenza even though it is a little smaller.
Supposedly the edge on a Rockstead will last longer than any other knife’s edge but I haven’t had them long enough to see if that is true.
I would say that if you too don’t like carrying a 4 inch or bigger blade as an edc then go with a Spartan Harsey 3.25 folder with the plain scales so you aren’t worried about messing up the art work.
If you want the sharpest knife with great edge retention then get a Rockstead.
What did you use to replace the sebenza thumbstud? Would it be the same for a small sebenza?
You have to buy aftermarket ones, there's plenty of companies making them, if you have a single sided one you have to get it pressed out

Reate are putting out the best production knives in China at the moment, though Bestech is right on their heels!

Harsey folders ergos are the opposite of neutral
In use it's very neutral, I've cut with this one in every direction, the finger placements hardly make a difference. Opposite would be like a Karambit
