My very first "grail knife" was the grey G-10 mini Griptillian with blue back spacers .... Bought it and HATED it on the first flip open ... so slippery it flew out of my hands ...... Strangely, I bought the full size half serrated Griptillian with plastic handles ... LOVE IT .. ! ! !
The best bench made knife I have is a custom G 10 handled barrage. I’ve got it in 20 CV and absolutely love it. Love it so much I bought a mini version as well. It’s a shame they don’t make that one anymore to me that’s the best knife I ever made.
Or how about this knife center you’re so worried about Benchmade sales why don’t you take a cut and bring the savings to your customers that sounds like a good idea to me and you know what maybe you could talk to Benchmade about cutting too so they could be more competitive with the big three
Griptilian (especially Ritter), Bugout, Ares, AFCK/TSEK and 940 are the 5 best knives Benchmade ever made. Honorable mentions to Ruckus, 710/707, Dejavoo, Presidio and Snody Gravitator as my personal favorite.
I finally have my first Griptillian on the way. I have wanted one for years but benchmade prices are ridiculous, but another dealer had grips that are discontinued and marked way down $99. So I jumped all over it. Really looking forward to experiencing and using the Griptillian. Love the videos. I never miss one.
Benchmade! Please bring back the 200 and 202 with maybe a micarta handle and a convex grind ! Those are not only two of the best fixed blades you guys have ever made but in my opinion they are some of the best value, best design, some of the best dimensioned fixed blade, though the 202 could have used a thicker stock, and now that you’ve discontinued them they over 50% more than they were before. Maybe even offer a kydex option for the 200 for edc.
Love your content and videos, keep up the great work! Was sad to see that you don't have a storefront, as I was in the area and was looking forward to stopping by.
I've never been a "collector" per se but when you live in the PNW, and especially in the Portland area, you tend to get gifted a nice selection of Benchmade knives when they know you're "that knife guy". I've liked every one and have bought four of my own; total count 14. The haters can hate but Benchmade is doing something right, whether marketing or not, they are still putting out quality stuff where other PNW/US brands have failed or sold their souls.
My favorite Benchmade is my full sized Benchmande Griptilian with a 3.45" CPM-20CV Drop Point Blade, and a Red GFN Handles, which was a KnifeCenter Exclusive. DCA used to rave about it ALL THE TIME. I bought it in February 2022 for $150. It a perfect knife and didn't set my hair on fire because if was not freaking expensive, like all Benchmades are priced now. I also own the mini Presido II (big disappointment because it doesn't smoothly open or close), the 940 Osborne (which I never use), and the Bencmade Mini Barrage, before BM hiked the price and changed the handle and blade material and nearly doubled the price of this knife. I do like my Mini Barrage. I also own a BM mini Adamas. Almost all my Benchmades were bought from 2020 to 2022, before BM knife prices when sky high. My five BM cost $845 in total.
Ha all the price comments is what I expected! That being said I love my Benchmades and my 5 I have would be: 1 - Taggedout in Magnacut with CF scales 2 - Bailout M4 with the green aluminum scales 3 - Mini Adamas - I like them ao much I have 3 variations. 4 - Superfreek - M4 with the nice G10 scales 5 - Bugout - I have 3 as well
They have to be paying them extra for this... they completely ignore the issue pointed out in the comments of every video! I only really buy from knife center and like them as a company I watch every new knives video and often end up placing an order but certainly not for a Benchmade... I wish they would actually address this issue head on
Gentleman's knife? Benchmade? Nothing would be more proper as a gentlemen's knife from benchmade than the Proper. Imo, one of the nicest knives for for the distinguished gentleman!
DCA, at some point, even as a knife distributor, you’re going to have to address these criminally insane prices that bench made is charging. Many people were respect you even more than they do now.
At my local gun shop down the road they have most benchmade knives and the newest models and they have the nebula limited edition Osborne that’s blue and black and badass for like 249$ which is expensive but not 400$ like most websites. I also got the new psk the black red and grey one for 259$ compared to almost 500$ on most websites. My everyday shop when I’m trying to grab knives and also has great deals on guns!
Ive got a question for the next Q&A video.....I have finally got all of the stones i need to sharpen recurves and hawk bills. im looking for a recurve knife thats in the $100-$300 range so i can get used to sharpening them because im starting a sharpening business and ive got every attachment from Hapstone for my Hapstone Rs. I can sharpen scissors, chisels, round blades for leather work, regular knives and now ive got the stones for recurves and hawk bills. Im not wanting D2 or 14c28n it has to be s30v 154cm or better. Thanks for everything you do for the knife community!!!
I wish they brought back the Valet and that was my dress knife for many years. It a pretty damn amazing knife, and maybe make the axis lock the newer type and 10% larger. I would purchase that on sale. From that selection I have the Presidio 2, and the older Bushcrafter, though the newer sheath design on that over the older leather one looks much more secure. For the EDC I am still going with my 940 if I use my Benchmade knives. Oh and I wish they brought back the Hidden Canyon 2 with the finger choil. That was such an awesome small fixed blade.
I only have 1 BM, the green aluminum bailout with m4 and glass breaker, not a big fan of BM but I will eventually pick up a 940 and a mini crooked river as well, those and my bailout are the only BM knives I find attractive, love the video though.
I'm trying to find a description for the Kershaw style serrations on the Ken Onion knives like the leek and the scalion & the chive so I'd like to know how to do them myself but I can't figure out how to even look them up
For fixed blades, you really need one category for skinners and one for bushcraft/camping for Benchmade, with how many hunting knives they have in their catalog. I'd love them to make new Leuku knives again, but with different handle material than the rubbery Santoprene. I can't believe you didn't include the Griptilian. I've got a dozen Benchmade and it's my most used knife of the brand and the one that really got me into them. It's not pretty, but it's a great working design. For gentleman's blades, the Proper is the only real choice, other than the limited edition Mini Crooked River they put out with the hunting scene etchings. Unless you do something very special with carbon fiber, probably not black, it's more tech bro than gentlemanly, other than needing to be landed gentry to afford some of them.
The freek is almost perfect.... It deserves to come with a deep pocket carry clip. Anyways, for half the cost and BETTER scales / same design the Doug Ritter Hogues are the way to go.... In either 20cv or magnacut both the full size and mini are the best of the best in that price range.
These are absurd! Benchmade has successfully alienated their entire knife guy customer base in the last three years and that’s saying something since most were always willing to pay the butterfly 🦋 tax….
@@Mike-id8gu the water is much nicer over there eh? It’s funny back in the day I hated the look of spydercos now I love the look. And benchmades look pretty blah.

Has anyone had to warranty a benchmade auto? It says on their site they will not ship it back to you, has to be shipped to a dealer. Only thing keeping me from buying one at that point warranty is kind of useless.
I love the two BM I own and both are autos, but they need to step up their QC and materials overall. I think a good base steel should be at least S45vn to match current pricing.
I'm new to this hobby and I've been looking at the cool stuff, I know now that I'll never buy from Benchmade out of principle and I'll spend my money on another company
I have a Griptilian, a Mini Griptilian and a Mini Osbourne. The Mini Griptilian came first, I've had that since 1998 and it is still the knife I carry most often. I bought a full size Griptilian around 2005 but haven't carried it much, it's just bigger than what I usually need on a daily basis. The Mini Osbourne I like but it isn't as easy for me to flip open with my thumb, plus it's S30V steel which is a bit brittle, and the very tip, maybe .25mm, broke off not long after I got it and I wasn't doing anything with it that should've broken the tip. With such a small piece broken off the tip it's really not noticeable but it does make me question the durability of the blade. The 440C steel of my Mini Griptilian nor the CPM 154 of the full size Griptilian have ever given me cause to worry about chipping or breaking the blade. I may get a full sized Osbourne if they ever move on from the S30V on the base model.
are benchmade prices high? yeah of course, but also who else is making the Bailout? nobody else does it, and Benchmade does it well. The Bailout is a thin, slicey, beast with an extraordinarily useful tanto. Untill something actually better comes along (not just cheaper) ill give credit where its due.
Love this series. It's a little lame they don't have a chopper. I've collected knives for several years and still haven't pulled the trigger on a BM. I gotta say that Presidio II is good looking and might need to be my first.
Benchmade is the innovator in the market place. The 940, Griptilian, were monsters but the Bugout and Axis lock were replicated by almost every knife maker in the world. The Bugout is still probably the best edc on the market and carry one regularly.
I love my 940 but I refuse to buy benchmades brand new. The price is astronomical compared to Spyderco. I’ll gladly buy a Spyderco brand new. Just bought the M4 Yojumbo and love it so far
While it's becoming hard to justify some of their prices, I do still really like Benchmade knives in general. I have a few of their folders for EDC, and a Tactical Triage that I use all the time at work and really love. The Tengu Flipper is also my favourite smaller, 'dressier' knife.

I just got me a mini bugout, but it has been used, but it's has been used, but it's awesome. Got it for 60 bucks. It's the white s30v version
My very first "grail knife" was the grey G-10 mini Griptillian with blue back spacers ....
Bought it and HATED it on the first flip open ... so slippery it flew out of my hands ......
Strangely, I bought the full size half serrated Griptillian with plastic handles ... LOVE IT .. ! ! !
That shootout sounds crunchy.
The best bench made knife I have is a custom G 10 handled barrage. I’ve got it in 20 CV and absolutely love it. Love it so much I bought a mini version as well. It’s a shame they don’t make that one anymore to me that’s the best knife I ever made.
Benchmade and knife center should be forced to do a walk of shame like in Game of Thrones
Knifecenter gives you double points.
Benchmade- disappoints
Or how about this knife center you’re so worried about Benchmade sales why don’t you take a cut and bring the savings to your customers that sounds like a good idea to me and you know what maybe you could talk to Benchmade about cutting too so they could be more competitive with the big three
Griptilian (especially Ritter), Bugout, Ares, AFCK/TSEK and 940 are the 5 best knives Benchmade ever made. Honorable mentions to Ruckus, 710/707, Dejavoo, Presidio and Snody Gravitator as my personal favorite.
Gotta love the complete omission of the Griptiillian, one of BM's most affordable and historic offerings. What in the world?
Double points you say?
Benchmade not selling well these days?
Can’t think why!!
Excellent video! I have a several of the Benchmade models in the vid. The mini-Bugout sees regular carry as it's so easy to carry EDC.🤣
Mini adamas is so good. Fantastic edc.
Just get a Griptilian and a mini Griptilian basic models and save some money.
Or spend 50 bucks more and get a PM2… then not wish you had a year later.
That being said I love my Benchmades and my 5 I have would be:
1 - Taggedout in Magnacut with CF scales
2 - Bailout M4 with the green
aluminum scales
3 - Mini Adamas - I like them ao much I have 3 variations.
4 - Superfreek - M4 with the nice G10 scales
5 - Bugout - I have 3 as well
I like the idea of this list. I follow a lot of whiskey channels on youtube and they like to do a "If you could only keep 5 whiskies" videos.
DCA doing damage control for Benchmade lol. How much they paying you DCA?
Right? Lol
Yeah collecting knives is definitely not for the broke.
They have to be paying them extra for this... they completely ignore the issue pointed out in the comments of every video! I only really buy from knife center and like them as a company I watch every new knives video and often end up placing an order but certainly not for a Benchmade... I wish they would actually address this issue head on
@@Cardsone1um they do this with a lot of brands… benchmades are awesome knives. Fantastic company man.
@@cameronduncan7921I collect them in my head lol
Gentleman's knife? Benchmade? Nothing would be more proper as a gentlemen's knife from benchmade than the Proper. Imo, one of the nicest knives for for the distinguished gentleman!
That there s30v must be the superiest super steal available for those prices...
Love my Crooked River. Classy classic
I got a vacation house instead.
In Compton
I do like the FTE (Front Towards Enemy) in raised Morse code lettering on the Claymore, but I don’t know if that’s enough for it to make the cut.
North Fork makes a great gentleman's knife. Wood handles make it great for the work place.
I've got a turret which is discontinued and it is a really sturdy. Maybe not as tough as the adamas but damned close. Don't know why it's discontinued
Another top 5 👍
DCA, at some point, even as a knife distributor, you’re going to have to address these criminally insane prices that bench made is charging. Many people were respect you even more than they do now.
At my local gun shop down the road they have most benchmade knives and the newest models and they have the nebula limited edition Osborne that’s blue and black and badass for like 249$ which is expensive but not 400$ like most websites. I also got the new psk the black red and grey one for 259$ compared to almost 500$ on most websites. My everyday shop when I’m trying to grab knives and also has great deals on guns!
I'll be back to read these comments! 😂🍿😋
I’ve loved every Benchmade I have bought. I didn’t realize how many folks out there were willing to express how poor they are though.
I’m surprised you didn’t have the Magnacut mini Adamas
I love your videos. I need some custom scales for my folding pocket knife. Any suggestions?
I would have gone Adamas, mini Freek, Bailout, Anonimus, and Shootout
Nice! I picked almost all the same options you did. But I would’ve picked the 945 over the mini freek.
How do you not include the 940 for an EDC option... ?
555 Mini Griptilian
570-1 Presidio II CF-Elite
430 Redoubt
15535OR-01 Taggedout MagnaCut
273GY-1 Mini Adamas
If you ever did Victorinox for this series, they have an extra category: kitchen knives.
Esee does too
Benchmade has kitchen knives as well...
Where's the full size crooked river DCA?
I'm looking to get a taggedout or mini adamas. Leaning more towards the adamas
I only have 1 BM, the green aluminum bailout with m4 and glass breaker, not a big fan of BM but I will eventually pick up a 940 and a mini crooked river as well, those and my bailout are the only BM knives I find attractive, love the video though.
I'm trying to find a description for the Kershaw style serrations on the Ken Onion knives like the leek and the scalion & the chive so I'd like to know how to do them myself but I can't figure out how to even look them up
Benchmade could supply all my needs, but their price could not. Thanks 🎸🔪
False
Huge Benchmade fan in the late 90’s to early 00’s…..not as much now. Spyderco takes my money now for the big name knives.
Yes, same here. I've switched over to Spyderco years ago.
@@Mike-id8gu the water is much nicer over there eh? It’s funny back in the day I hated the look of spydercos now I love the look. And benchmades look pretty blah.
Correct, cruwear is awesome.
Persidio ii that's why I chose it,and the lock doesn't fail like the adamas
I would have thrown the CF MagnaCut TaggedOut in the medium sized knife section with the BailOut
Just here for the comment section - BM and butterfly tax, 2A hating Benchmade... keep asking crazy prices for terrible grinds, and new colors of old ideas, no innovation... excited! ooh, I just heard "double points" on BM purchases... y'all trying really hard - but BM BenchMade and BM BowelMovement are much the same thing these days... and the coating on the pocket clips... c'mon it's 2024
"2A hating" oh please 😅😅😅😅
Has anyone had to warranty a benchmade auto? It says on their site they will not ship it back to you, has to be shipped to a dealer. Only thing keeping me from buying one at that point warranty is kind of useless.
Surprised the Presidio 2 Auto didn't make an appearance - Presidio Sweeeeep!
I love the two BM I own and both are autos, but they need to step up their QC and materials overall. I think a good base steel should be at least S45vn to match current pricing.
My favorite fixed is the nimravus tanto such a great knife my everyday is the assisted claymore
MY Favorite Is The Redout
I have been looking at Mini Freek to pair with my Super Freek but WOW at the price increase.
No Balisong's 😢
Yeah in my opinion instead of going with automatic knives, balisongs should’ve replaced the large fixed blade spot
