  • In this video I will show you the steps I take to fix up all of the damaged sheet metal on a rolled over Nissan Frontier. If you have the right tools and the know-how than just about anyone can get the metal work done just about perfect. I will show you step-by-step instructions on how I go about performing this repair with my spotter tool. It is very important to do the metal work this way to save yourself a lot of time and frustration down the road when the time comes to do the body filler (Bondo) work.

    Nice work on the repairs as usual. Seeing that you only had a week to get the repairs done before the inspection, hopefully that means more videos coming soon. One thing I noticed with your spotter, is that it seems to do less panel damage than commercial units, as yours doesn't seem to leave holes in the panel like I've seen on other channels when they use a spotter. Have you ever watched Arthur Tussik do "lead wiping" which is almost a forgotten art? That sure takes some skill. I bet if you had more time, you could have straightened out that back door! As always, I'm looking forward to your next video and I hope you have more time to get back to the 1948 Chevy, as that's a really interesting project. All the best from Queensland Australia, where we've finally had some good rain to break the long drought we just went through.

    • @fix206
      @fix206  3 роки тому

      Cheers Bruce, we have made it to the inspection and passed it, so the truck is licensed and street legal. However the weather did not cooperate enough to where we could get everything painted before the inspection. Hoping to spray it in the next few days, but I have enough material for another one or two videos before the paint video is posted. As far as the holes left behind on panels after spotter use, I do get those every now and then. Usually those will happen in areas that are a bit more rigid such as cab corners, because it takes more force to lift the metal then it would on a flat panel that has more give... Hope my explanation made sense.. I may end up doing some leading on the 1948 truck, never done it before but it is something that I'm interested in trying out. As far as the old school truck goes, I had to put that project on a short hold while while the Nissan is getting fixed up. I'll have more videos on that out shortly

    Can you do body filler and wait a couple of days for the primer or do you need to do the primer as soon as possible before the body filler absorbs atmospheric moisture? What about after the primer, can you wait before the base coat or do you need to go as fast as possible?

    • @fix206
      @fix206  Рік тому +1

      If the car is in the garage or something then there is no need, if it is sitting outside, in theory you should prime the body filler to encapsulate it. Once the car is in primer you don't really have to worry. You can even let the car sit for a year and then get it painted

    Т.е. это был salvage title, и инспекцию надо проходить в полиции в штате WA по пред. записи ? Спрашиваю, потому что я купил с WA недавно salvage title (но, тайтла не было, только bill of sale), и в Техасе я мог пройти обычную инспекцию (не у копов) в любой момент и получить тайтл после этого. Просто интересно как в WA это происходит

      Да, машина получается Salvage тайтл, инспекция только по записи, сейчас в связи с вирусом на запись попасть вообще почти нереально, раньше можно было оформлять через Oregon, там инспекции нету. Просто оформляешь машину и всё, но за последний год кой какие правила поменялись и эту лазейку для резидентов штата Вашингтон прикрыли. Думаю, скоро сделаю видео с небольшим обзором процесса инспекции в нашем штате. Думаю многим может будет интересно узнать как и почему это все работает.
