I wouldn't call an 8.5 out of 10 figure a 'semi-fail' though but that's just me. I love this figure (got it 2 days ago) and agree with the clearance issues.
that's cool man... didn't want to bash the figure or put down the figure too much as I might hurt the feelings of other collectors...
With all due respect, I think you are being nitpicky with the tolerance issues... Some of those bends and scrapes are normal when a piece have different clicking positions... My humble opinion!
@@duvan.rodriguez And PvP always calls everything awesome regardless of color mis matches, tolerance problems, G1 accuracy or not. And has little knowledge besides from reading up on G1 continuity. Also he's rather young. I get tired from hearing everything being awesome when often it is subpar.
Guys, first of all, I'm not making a comparisson between reviewers; I haven't even mention or praise PvP or his reviews at all, that's not the point, nor the intention of my comments.... Second, I like Chefatron's reviewing style; otherwise, I wouldn't be following his channel for so long... Third, I'm not expecting for a Hasbro figure to be perfect by any means, in most cases, it's probably the other way around...
I was just pointing out that when a figure's engineering includes pivotal elements such as Legacy Brawn's shoulder assemblys or his alt mode's front grille, it's normal and expected for these pieces to rub each other or to be bent when shifting positions, since we're talking about they're a transforming element that needs to be untabed and moved around in order to hold two (or more) structural positions by clicking or tabing in a different place of the figure. Many Transformers suffer from these type of engineering elements either for being too tight (which I prefer since they'll loosen up over time) like this Brawn, or for being too lose, such is the case of Kingdom Tracks; and we all know how badly lose that figure can be... In rare cases such as in Speedia 500's Cosmos, these transforming elements are well balanced out in pressure.

I just like the 86 figures it’s a good take on the G1 style and make it more modernish
yeah, i feel the same man... it's just sad that some of the older figures that were really great back then are somewhat becoming obsolete because of these newer ones... ah but such is life... constant change is the only thing constant....
Once I take all my old Transformers figures out of the storage room I'll start selling them in order to 1 purge all the figures that has a new/better version and 2 recoup some of the money I've spent over the years!
that's a great idea bro! I've been doing that for the last few years actually and purging the collection regularly has a great emotional release actually....
I don't care what people say, I love the engineering of this figure's transformation. It looks super unique. May be different if I have it in hand, but Hasbro/Takara are really on a tear when it comes to the base of the engineering in these figures.

@@chefatron Yeah, I understand. Tolerance issues can really make or break an experience with a figure. Kingdom Tracks is probably a really well-known example...
Anyways, I enjoyed the review, and I respect your opinion. I'm cautiously optimistic to get my hands on this figure.
I don't know bro, I got mine, and he has 0 issues. Maybe it's just a case by case basis. He is perfect

I’d say that half a millimeter tolerance on the forearms was fudged up by someone forgetting it was receiving paint

Agreed on those transformation pet peeves. The engineers should now better. I would shave just a little bit of the plastic on those areas and touch up the silver.

yeah, thanks for the tip bro... normally I would do that, but nowadays I refrain from re-touching and modifying my figures since I purge them regularly and would like to keep the in their original state as much as possible...

Its a cool cute figure. The best G1 accurate brawn to date. Yes you are correct. Its not perfect, with compromises here and there. this is wat happens when Hasbro is churning out so many figures at lightning speed these months.
I agree bro... I just wish they wouldn't charge so much if they can't deliver on expectations... had this figure been priced at the authentics bravo scale, I would praise it to the high heavens LOL

Does Hasbro secretly own at least some of the upgrade parts manufacturers on the back end? Clearance issues can be fixed if you dare taking a knife or file to it and willing to not resell the figure. But the lack of side panels is like a middle finger from Hasbro corporate.

I believe Hasbro is well aware of the tolerances of the figure and things like unpainted back Window and gaps on the side of the vehicle. If they did not plan and design these missing elements, what would they be able to sell you in the future if the figure you already have, has everything just right?

86 Brawn is Amazing & Great Figure there Nothing Wrong With this Figure The Transformation is Fine I don’t have lot Problem Transform his Back To Back is Very Fun & Smoove Transformation I don’t think you should called Semi- Fail because just Nitpicking for Transformation 86 Brawn deserve 10/10 or 9/10 for me

I'm with you on tolerances. From Legacy Skyquake's landing gear hitting an armature to grill tabs breaking on 44bb. I picked up Bumblebee Thundercracker a week ago and I spent 30 minutes with a knife and a heat gun just to get everything to sit proper.
It's embarrassing.
I know right? considering how much they're charging for these figures saying that most of the budget goes to engineering and they keep saying there's not enough budget for this and that... I mean, we have a right to expect proper quality and engineering solely based on the prices they're charging retail for these figures right?
I don't think you were nitpicking, I think you were talking from experience, in some years that plastic will get weaker and during a transformation a part will break, having said that I think the figure is great.

How dose the fact that it’s studio series figure matter
it matters a lot, because as a studio series figure, hasbro brags that it's not for the casual collector or younger audience... SS is for the hard core collectors who value engineering, design, and accuracy... and that's where they put most of the budget, that's why they're charging so much for SS figures... (just basing it off of hasbro's statements when they first launched the SS line)
I wouldn't be complaining so much if they didn't charge an arm and a leg and a kidney for these figures.... especially in Asia where prices of hasbro products have recently skyrocketed on retail....
so I hope you understand where my sentiments and expectations are coming from...

Asfter i saw this brawn.....revealed...it actually made go buy at my local retailer studio series bumblebee brawn.
He has an interesting gymnastic on the legs, but not worth the money. Missing painting on rear window? Huge gaps....
WE costumers, don't have to paint anything nor buy upgrades to make him better. Either he is perfect and worth the money;
or not perfect, missing paints and all, therefore, not worth the money. Specially STudio series... which means nothing nowadays .

Very strange that you would pick on this figure so much. Overall a good figure. Sounds like a clickbait title to get people angry so you can attract more hateclickers. lol I want to see a studio 86 Springer. (do not use the siege/earthrise/kingdom version but new mold) He was my fave triple changer. He got a lot of screentime in the movie so it is odd that we don't have one yet. I thought after having studio 86 wreck-gar they would have had that guy immediately afterwards since he fought them in the movie.

same! the siege mold has been quite frustrating as of late... hasbro is not in a hurry do another one since they just released the Wreck N Rule version
but we're getting Ultra Magnus for SS86 so i reckon and 86 Springer can't be far behind...
@@chefatron I see Springer and Ultra Magnus as the most important ones to do right after they did Wreck-gar. I want the SS86 version not TF Legacy. (nothing wrong with LEgacy line just want movie line up more.) How it should go is based on how important the character was in the movie and the screen time they got. They are doing Dinobots FFS before the main characters. Dinos with the exception of Grimlock were just background people. There have to be many colectors wanting to put SS86 Hotrod, SS86 Ultra Magnus, SS86 Arcee, and SS86 Springer in a set posed together like in poster art for the movi? You know what I mean. Start with main characters then villains and the background grunts.
Ultra Magnus, HotRod, Arcee, Springer, Grimlock = central focus of the movie and the older G1 guys (except dinos) were simply put there to die. lol
A listing for SS86 leader class Springer was leaked last month, so we should be seeing it sometime in the next year.
@@stevenhirtle7000 Thanks for that. I am happy now. I preordered SS86 Ultra Magnus. I think all the major character in the movie should be covered. Now that they are doing Springer, it shows they are committed to doing that. After that I hope they revisit Optimus Prime. (I could skip Megatron because I don't like his pistol alt mode and have always liked him as a tank much more. That core class megatron was good)
