It all sounds good if your speakers are, some levels not so much but some sounds can't be made better. It's like hearing a harp or something, just a different instrument all together on 8-bit sound.
Golden Axe II soundtrack is awesome for its time. I especially love the one starting at 11:18...goes well with my Amazon as she unleashes her fire magic at the mobs!

The Golden Axe games have the best Soundtrack for any game that I have ever played. Yes better than Mega Man 2 and even Streets of Rage. My favorite Arcade games ever. Perfect music to suit the theme of the games.

People are sleeping on Dark Guld's theme (26:27). It's a little surreal, which kind of fits the bossfight. You just went to his throneroom, which has someone who isn't Dark Guld in it. And then you're in a shiny room with mirrory tiles, his axe flies in out of nowhere, and he suddenly appears. Even his skeletons are the shiniest and whitest in the entire game. I think that battle takes place kind of outside reality.
You just can't keep a straight face during the intro when those speedo-wearing minotaurs get on screen. Awesome soundtrack, by the way. When I played this, I ALWAYS made the chicken leg dance to the Ruins' (10:47) song.
Really under-rated soundtrack, and it's all great -- but I think the Ruins theme (10:47) is my favorite. It really has the essence of being on a trek through an unknown land.

Always loved the song that plays when you traipse through the ravaged village. Epic doesn't even begin to describe it. Literally the perfect song for the opening level. Then again, this game hosts one of the best soundtracks on the Genny. Loved the galloping drumbeat on the boss battle theme too. Just amazing all around.

These 16 bit tunes are just full of greatness. They had to make do with limited range of sounds and they pulled off what they could in such a big way.
