Mixonne just think of the power in using knives. Knives are no BS and not for children. If you want to kill someone, guns are easy to get and "impersonal."
      Not so with knives...

What amazes me is the fact that he didn't teach people to paint in order to make great masterpieces and be famous, he just wanted people to be happy. I wonder how many lives he touched in a positive way, making sad, distressed, depressed or just frustrated people feel good about themselves and achieve some success in something they actually could control, having fun in the process. He was a truly good man. Also, even those who never painted with him could simply enjoy a good time listening to his soothing voice and his happy little stories.

Charles E. No, he never took any money from this public broadcasting station. His income came from the art supply line and so on.
He even donated many of the paintings to the TV station. Of which there were 3 per show.

Back when i lived in NY, Bob kept me company many unemployed days. I would sit on the sofa and watch him until I fell asleep, which happened every time! I eventually got to meet him and I shook his hand when he came to Central Park one summer in the '90s and there is an episode where he shows that video. I didn't get in any of the shots but whenever I watch that episode, I get a warm feeling inside and I smile..every time. He was an incredible human being! We need a world of Bob Rosses!
    Now he's on Netflix!

Not because I had any interest in painting, but because I absolutely loved his voice which would put me into a coma in front of the TV. ASMR was unknown back then. Could never figure out at that time why his voice and the painting sounds affected me the way they did. Now I know! This is my very favorite video. The sounds of the knife scraping on the dry canvas and his soft voice kill me. Listen every single night.

@Michelle Riggan Yes it was. He was very talented and didn't realize that his voice was the start of ASMR. But just to let you know that was how Bob was able to do a painting in the half hour time allotted. Sometimes he will spend hours on a scene picking out the right clouds and streams, and sky color then combining them into his imagination.

Bob freakin' Ross, taking a canvas that first starts out like my oil rag at work and turns into a beautiful landscape. Thanks for the happy times Bob!

Hard to believe he was a drill sergeant. “Alright, maggots! Drop and give me 100 happy push-ups!”

I didn’t saw recent comments here… sadly, people now don’t get interested in this kind of content, which is disappointed. I love sleeping hearing his magical and relaxing voice. People still missing you Bob.

I agree with you Andrew. A Very Talented man for sure. Catch every video i can.The sound has too be and is set by the TV stations. Bob doesn't realize with the sound exceeding his ears how it sounds too the public. But his talent makes up for it and his teachings.

That was back when he was using bill alexanders "magic white" bill taught him the technique. Then bob came out with his own line of products and named his "liquid white"
Honestly all it is, is titanium white mixed with a extra medium and paint thinner.

Best white noises to help you fall asleep. (1) Bob's voice and storytelling, (2) Painter's knife scratching against canvas, (3) Prepping paint on the palette and (4) The elevator music intro.
