"Today let's have fun with the knife" is something you don't hear often.
Mixonne just think of the power in using knives. Knives are no BS and not for children. If you want to kill someone, guns are easy to get and "impersonal."
Not so with knives...
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Top 10 threats the world ignored
🤣🤣
Well, I hope not.😳 😎
What amazes me is the fact that he didn't teach people to paint in order to make great masterpieces and be famous, he just wanted people to be happy. I wonder how many lives he touched in a positive way, making sad, distressed, depressed or just frustrated people feel good about themselves and achieve some success in something they actually could control, having fun in the process. He was a truly good man. Also, even those who never painted with him could simply enjoy a good time listening to his soothing voice and his happy little stories.
Badá Rock That and he needed to pay the bills, but sure.
Badá Rock You couldn't have said it better. Totally agree!
Charles E. No, he never took any money from this public broadcasting station. His income came from the art supply line and so on.
He even donated many of the paintings to the TV station. Of which there were 3 per show.
15Million from Art Supplies and How to Products (Dvds), PBS was just advertising, but was the main reason people bought his products, so directly related to his income.
Bada You got the jist of it
Back when i lived in NY, Bob kept me company many unemployed days. I would sit on the sofa and watch him until I fell asleep, which happened every time! I eventually got to meet him and I shook his hand when he came to Central Park one summer in the '90s and there is an episode where he shows that video. I didn't get in any of the shots but whenever I watch that episode, I get a warm feeling inside and I smile..every time. He was an incredible human being! We need a world of Bob Rosses!
Now he's on Netflix!
He was an outstanding person. Wish we could all be like him.
If we had a world of Bob Ross', there'd be a hell of a lot more squirrels running around.

@@AliciaandScott lol true!
Anybody else here because the sound of the knife is really pleasing?
God bless, Bob.
Yaaaasss!!!
🖐
Oh yes....
I remember him saying during some panting that he had done just knife only paintings. Only in the age of YT was I able to find them.
the knife is money my ears. an eargasm
A Bob Ross a Day beats the devil away
Well said.
I am your 99th like
Amen!
Spoken like a true Ross
R.I.P
the sound of that blade scraping... just so damn soothing
I know right! I could go to sleep to that thing I swear! Makes me feel tingly too. 😊😌😴
kinda ironic, hah
@@hannahanchors3560 ASMR
@Papa Wuise Exactly. I just can't get enough of that sound.
Bob could do with a palette knife what I can't with a million brushes! I'm sure if you gave him a toothpick he could still easily paint a museum quality piece!
Deizulh Budfy Rich once played a drum solo using match sticks, I've heard.
Probably cause you're meant to use the pallet knife for those bits.
"Today, let's have fun with the knife" D:
:0
He'd been living in Alaska for a while, bro.
awesome now i can see Bob Ross as a horror movie surgeon.
Better than it sounds.
I'm scared...
No magic hwite, knife only, final destination.
That's so sad, I love magic hwite.
Epic? That would kick major ass!
Super Painter Bros.

Lmao
+AHHHHH+
Time to relax and go to sleep. The sound of that knife touching and scraping the canvas along with Bob's voice puts me in a coma in minutes.
yea
lol
EXACTLY!!!
MEET ME OUT BACK RIGHT NOW!! NOW!! I’m glad I’m not the only one.
Four years later. How is everyone?
I use this for asmr every night. The sound of the pallet knife scraping against the canvas and against his pallet is so soothing.
Any time something bad happens in my life, I go and watch The Joy of Painting because Bob convinces me that life ain't all that bad.. "You gotta have the dark to see the light."
Finally an all knife painting! It's beautiful
And it's probably one of his most beautiful paintings. I love this
painting!
It is actually my absolute favorite!
I bet he did some BOSS Art at home.
finally? it's been like 30 years
I wonder if he signs with the brush, or scrapes his signature with the knife....?
keep painting, no matter where you are. RIP Mr.Ross.
I coudn't paint for monkeynuts until I picked up Bob Ross, now I can..sad he's not around, but we can follow him online forever. David Milton UK.
"K let's go up here, now then." Love Bob Ross, it's always the best when he uses the knife.
BOB WAS AWESOME !!!
Give him a plank of wood ...
AND HE'LL PAINT YOU A MASTERPIECE !!!
+Lydian77 ? Please explain.
Not certain, but I think it was an illusion to Bob praising one of his students "Boy I tell ya, Give him a plank of wood and he'll paint you a masterpiece"
SUPREME EMPEROR MITTENS More like give him a plank of wood and it's already a masterpiece......
Once Bob took a blank hwhite canvas and painted it to look like a piece of wood. It was amazing!! 🤯👏
It’s the Fisherman’s Trail episode.
Back when I was younger, I used to watch Bob Ross painting shows. Not because I had any interest in painting, but because I absolutely loved his voice which would put me into a coma in front of the TV. ASMR was unknown back then. Could never figure out at that time why his voice and the painting sounds affected me the way they did. Now I know! This is my very favorite video. The sounds of the knife scraping on the dry canvas and his soft voice kill me. Listen every single night.
I've watched Bob Ross for many years, even growing up in the 80's and thru the 90's and R.I.P sir and knowing he's painting 🖼 in heaven with almighty god, thank you Mr Bob Ross.
"Today, let's have fun with the knife"
psycho shower scene :)
ill request that to a ****poster and see if hell do it
LOL
The sound of the knife on the palette is so satisfying.
'Today, let's have some fun with the knife!' ... sounds like what Ramsay Bolton said to Theon Grayjoy before Theon became a eunuch...
Love Bob. What a talented man he was. Incredible artist.
Bob: "Let's do something a bit different"
Bob: *actually does something a bit different*

Aaaaaaaaand, “Why so serious?”
Use to come home for lunch hour, ate my lunch for a few minutes and fell to sleep on the carpet floor in front of a very small TV watching bob. Woke up refreshed and ready to go back to work. Miss you Bob, but we'll always have your videos.
Who’s here in 2024? Love to you all ❤ and happy painting.
I've been watching Joy of Painting since the late 80s. It's still as enjoyable now as it was when I was a kid.
I love it when he does full paintings using only the almighty knife...just making friends with it...everyone seems to like the knife scraping the canvas, & that does sound good, but my favorite is hearing it clicking on the palate while he's mixing the paint...
Same. I like the mixing.
I've been watching Bob since I was a kid. He put me to sleep then and now I watch his videos to help relax. I'm always amazed 😊
First time watching this particular episode! I must say, WOW wasn't expecting it to turn out so well with just the knife! And no liquid white for that matter!
I actually like this a lot better than his regular style
He has another episode where he uses his hands for the majority of the painting
do you happen to know the season/episode of that one?
*****
I don't know off the top of my head but I do have every episode on a hard drive. I'll sift through them and let you know which one it was
the effort would be greatly appreciated
did you ever found out which one it was?
Bob Ross = ASMRtist of the century.
Was just about to comment "does anyone else use Bob for asmr?" Haha
+Yvonne M Yes me :)
+UnboxTheWorld ASMR Of the world!!
+UnboxTheWorld ASMR those brush stroke sounds are sooooooooo satisfying. And the way he talks! So chill.
+UnboxTheWorld ASMR He was doing it before it was a thing lol
I recall watching some of the shows in later seasons where he mentioned that you could do an entire painting with just a knife. He also mentioned in while referring to letters from viewers as well. This is the first time I have seen him paint an entire picture with just the knife and I was quite impressed.
Who else was waiting for him to put a big ol' tree right in the foreground?
Jajaja
dear Santa could u bring bob back for just a year
Rigoberto Hernandez but you already have him. You: but where? Me: just look inside your heart.
The Duck King i could die tho
Omg yes
The Duck King alright rafiki haha
Yes
I put Bob Ross on and my cat's stopped fighting and started watching him before they fell asleep.
Must be his voice.
:-)
20:15 - YOU'RE IN A BAD MOOD,

I was going to post the same thing lol
That made smile
"You gotta turn it loose and let it go" damn what a quote

Man this guy really was a gift. I wish I had gotten to experience him when he was alive. I wish he had made more of these Joys of Painting episodes. Least I have a playlist of his works on pbs
I love watching this man paint or make mountains. They are so realistic! Like you can just jump right into his painting and be there!
I love the sound of the knife scraping against the palette and rubbing on the canvas. It's very soothing. R.I.P. Bob Ross.
I watch Bob Ross when I was a little girl. I watch him on TV all the time, he's the greatest.
Does Bob Ross use oil paints in all his paintings or does he also use acrylic?? Pls reply...I am new to his channel :)
@@vaishnavishetty3404 I'm not sure, he uses regular paints
@@brittanybrown484 ohh okay thanks!
A man with a awesome perspective of what a sky shld look like because he knows he created this world and who died for him. One day, I will meet this man in person. God is good, we're not.
Amazing a man who I know is with god is still touching the lives of hundreds of thousands god bless my friend 😀🙏🏻
I’ve been watching these for a while and didn’t think I was paying much attention to his technique but I had an art test in school today and used a very similar method to bob and it was the best painting I’ve ever done. I think I was subconsciously learning how he does it and used it which just helps prove what bob has been trying to prove: “you too can paint” -bob ross.
wow, I remember when I saw this on TV the first time as a kid, when he started and said no magic white and touches the canvas I clearly remember thinking in an amused way, "You're scaring me Bob", all these years later, I had the same exact thought and it brought a smile to my face.
not only do I love his voice I'm learning how to paint. good shit.
This has to be one of the coolest I have seen him do and that is a hard level to determine.
I need you this morning Bob! Thanks for your kindness and spirituality! Michael McClary ❤🎉😂
i love how by just using the knife in this episode in particular (without applying the magic hwhite to the canvas first) he basically proves that ANYONE can paint
Bob could have made a masterpiece with a butterknife or spatula. Miss him dearly and thankful he chose to share his world with us.
Those happy little ads in the middle of the video beats the sleep out of me.
I have seen how amazing are Bob Ross paintings, but this one made only with his knife is OMG WOW. He never stop amazing me. He was unbelievable talented and every one of his paintings is a proof of such astonished magical art.
Just mind boggling talent. To paint that with nothing but a knife. Wow.
The texture that the knife creates is just, desirable by many. It's what separates oils from every other medium. Awesome episode!
“If you’re in an angry mood..if someone just kicked you” 😂🤣
Knife painting, knife painting, knife painting, I love bobs' knife paintings!!!!!!! ☺😄😀😱
Wish there where shows like this. So educational and uplifting :)
When he slipped in the green foothill I thought now Bob, you've gone and ruined it. It got to feelin good and you couldn't stop. But he fooled us again and it looks fantastic as usual.
Chris Ruck He pulled a little sneaky on ya :P
7 years of age coming up love u and miss u forever Bobby 🖤🫂
Thank You Mr.Bob Ross..your teachings or painting had been helping a lot, the appreciation just felt more strongger how life and a touch or belief of magic can be useful, as when youre about to give up...or been too stressed to whats been happenning..
The palette knife and his voice combined= 30 minutes of ASMR!! **Fun fact** When Bob looks to the right, he's looking at a painting he's already done out of camera view for a reference to the current painting he's doing. 24:42 is an example of him looking.
@Michelle Riggan Because the info I received was from a interview with his son. He said by already having a painting done, his dad could either keep it the way it was or make on the spot changes which he often did. Time permitting of course.
@Michelle Riggan Yes it was. He was very talented and didn't realize that his voice was the start of ASMR. But just to let you know that was how Bob was able to do a painting in the half hour time allotted. Sometimes he will spend hours on a scene picking out the right clouds and streams, and sky color then combining them into his imagination.
Bob freakin' Ross, taking a canvas that first starts out like my oil rag at work and turns into a beautiful landscape. Thanks for the happy times Bob!
Even without the magic white, he still can pull off the master piece
Even without a paintbrush
Hwite
Hard to believe he was a drill sergeant. “Alright, maggots! Drop and give me 100 happy push-ups!”
lol
I didn’t saw recent comments here… sadly, people now don’t get interested in this kind of content, which is disappointed. I love sleeping hearing his magical and relaxing voice. People still missing you Bob.
I like that UA-cam is recommending me Bob Ross content.
Love the visual and sounds of Bob mixing paint with the knife.
Always something new...always something different! A master teacher for sure!
Bob ross is the new type of asmr. He makes me fall asleep halfway into his videos.
Bob Ross brings me to a state of peace in 20 minutes✨🙏✨
been watching these every night to fall asleep to, so calming
Some of the best water he's ever done, imo. Nice job, Bobbo!
nice, i was looking on UA-cam for a show to help me sleep, loved watching this show as a kid
He did the whole thing with a knife! That's so impressive. Awesome.
First couple of min I was like " oh man bob you done it this time" and I thought he really did, but then bob happened
He makes me feel so special
The search results had “Bob Ross knife only” lmao seems like the name of a speedrun or something
I much prefer this style, much more impressionistic outcome than his usual paintings
The world is a sadder place without Bob Ross. 😢
Joy of Sleeping.
I spent saturday afternoons as a child watching Bob. His voice is so soothing to me then and especially now. Bob has helped me fall asleep many times 😊
This a lovely painting, it’s great to see a piece made in a different way to usual
This painting is one of the greatest I have seen him paint here...
I agree with you Andrew. A Very Talented man for sure. Catch every video i can.The sound has too be and is set by the TV stations. Bob doesn't realize with the sound exceeding his ears how it sounds too the public. But his talent makes up for it and his teachings.
Ross every golden is beautiful
Back when he called it "magic white" instead of "liquid white".
Hwite.
+TheInsanityUnleashed mejic hwite
+GeneralLegath Your comment made me laugh so hard!
That was back when he was using bill alexanders "magic white" bill taught him the technique. Then bob came out with his own line of products and named his "liquid white"
Honestly all it is, is titanium white mixed with a extra medium and paint thinner.
Hwight.
Best white noises to help you fall asleep. (1) Bob's voice and storytelling, (2) Painter's knife scratching against canvas, (3) Prepping paint on the palette and (4) The elevator music intro.
I'm really diggin the vague abstractness of this one.
Mountain challenge? Let's go!
In my mind Bob Ross is a giant in the artistic world. His face should be on Mount Rushmore and if I had the money would pay to have it created with only pallet knives.....
I started watching him when I had Covid last December. Also watching him now as I am passing a kidney stone .
I bet this specific one is worth a lot of money now. Very, very special.
One of the few famous people who could never had a bad word said about him.
Just discovered Bob Ross. Never have falling asleep been so easy!
"Let's have some fun with the knife today!" Bob would have been amazing in The Purge.
Yep I agree.the knife& voice relaxing
This painting is stunning! The way you can see the light strike the land is amazing 😍
Interesting that he did that whole thing with a knife.
didnt realise Bob coukld/did non wet on wets; this guy is Awesome! Doing a typical Bob tree with the palette knife and not his usual stiff fan brush -unreal!
Bob Ross's voice is so soothing and it helps me sleep tbh
Wow, even without Magic White on the canvass, his painting still looks amazing
Who in the world dislikes it
