“If you ever in your whole painting career, do a painting that your totally satisfied with. You might as well stop. Your career is over, you have no where else to go. The fact that your dissatisfied with your painting when it’s done and you can see room for improvement is a blessing.” That’s amazing
Absolutely empowering advice, I felt as if he was talking directly to me at that moment. He freed a lot of my painting related anxiety with those words. Incredible wisdom.
15:28 "I hope you're always plagued with dissatisfaction." -- Never has an otherwise negative statement been said in such a positive context. Bob Ross was a boss...Boss Ross! LOL
I may never buy canvasses, a pallet, brushes and paints but I WILL CONTINUE TO WATCH BOB ROSS PAINT. What a pleasure to see beautiful scenery come about in around 30 minutes. To hear his gentle teaching instructions and listen to him speak in so positive a way is just a blessing. He not only makes creating art look easy, he makes living life seem easy too. So sad that he has left the Earth but glad all of his lessons remain for us to cherish. He's happy painting in Eternity.
There's so much going on that most viewers don't even realize and Bob doesn't mention. He knows exactly how mountains need to be formed to look organic, he knows where and how the light hits and what color it should be. He probably did all of this so automatically through years of painting and just looking at mountains and trees, he didn't realize it himself.
Every night i watch bob ross in bed , and i haven't seen one of the ending yet. Cos its so relaxing n stress free ,idk when did i even fell asleep. Thnk you bob ross may u rest in peace 🕊️ and i will thank you in heaven personally.❤
Creating a painting like this in 27 minutes! This man was a god. If the broadcast time was 1 hour, I can't imagine what kind of paintings he would make for us! As we can see, there wasn't even enough time left for him to sign this painting.
His mountains are really his best works... I'm always left a little underwhelmed by his waves/ seascapes in comparison. Bob truly is a mountain man at heart.
"That mist is your friend. Take good care of it. It's what separates things. Don't kill it. Don't kill it." I have heard him say that many times. Bob Ross was very wise.
Those are what I see in my mind when someone mentions 'Bob Ross mountains'. Epic, snow-frosted, Paramount Pictures worthy, blue-white and beautiful mountains. This is actually one of my favourite Bob Ross paintings and episodes. Bob's advice to painters, is fit also for artists in general, whether they're musicians, actors, poets, or writers. Though the emotion of dissatisfaction with one's creations can often be traumatising, it's an absolutely essential part of the 'suffering for your art' belief. You will always hit plateaus of creation, where your art doesn't seem to progress, and this feeling of dissatisfaction can be scary, but it does pass and it can be used to force you to assert yourself into your creative process and not just let that process meander. Anyway, great episode with great advice from B.R.
He had Lymphoma when he first taped his series, he had surgery and everything was fine. He had another hit of Lymphoma, went through radiation and chemotherapy, and unfortunately it did not work. He lost his battle 7/4/1995
Because some people forget that Bob Ross videos and comment sections should be full of happy trees, pretty mountains, cute little animals and clouds with friends. Then they forget to act like adults, so they get rude for no reason.
Dissatisfaction is a blessing. Wow, did that ever speak to me on a personal level. Wise words Bob. Thank you for freeing a ton of my painting related anxiety.
He makes a molehill out of a mountain. Literally. "That looks a bit small, so let's fix that. Schhhhhhhhh. You gotta make those noises otherwise it doesn't work.".
Bob always dropped subtle hints about his marriage. One episode he said while beating the devil out of his Brush, "be sure and beat the devil out of it. It will help you get rid of your anger and frustration and will help save your marriage..." Oh Bob. Why must a gentle soul like you be stricken with a bad marriage? But thank god your son Steve learned your painting skills.
I love that Bob always keeps a bit of marbling when he mixes the colors on the palette. If you watch other oil painters who use a similar technique, they tend to mix the paint a lot more thoroughly, and while that's a great technique for creating solid colors, you sort of lose those little effects of one color peeking through another.
May the world be plagued with dissatisfaction. I love that! Next time I give a toast Bob I'm going to borrow that . I hope you'll be watching, walk over to the cabin you painted for God and ask him to be with me and whomever I'll be toasting at that time.
He once said something along the lines of if you are ever completely satisfied with a painting you should just stop because your have nowhere to go. I think he was never satisfied because he always wanted better, he strived for more. I think it shows how much he cares and if he was never truly satisfied, he at least died striving for better which I think he wishes for everyone to experience :) knowing you can do better.
Marissa Wingerden yeah cause artists are never really satisfied like if you see someone who is "good at drawing" you might tell them and they might look at what they drew and be like "nah I'm not really good at all" and you might be thinking they are somehow trying to brag or something but it's just because artists are constantly judging what they made and are some times disappointed in a piece that you might think looks awesome.
I have been wanting to start painting and specifically start with this style of painting. I realize Bob is a master and he makes it look so easy. Can anyone who has tried this paint technique tell me if he really just makes it look that easy or if it's actually as approachable for a beginner as he makes it sound?
He never use to paint but look at him now. It's not hard but you'll have to keep practicing. Don't be to hard on yourself and the creativity will let itself flow.
This is an incredibly beginner-friendly technique. There's a lot of room for error, decisions can be made on the fly, you can do whole paintings in a short timespan, so yeah.
Im so glad they are running his series on utube. I have a lot of his books. I gave up oil painting over 2 years ago but hopefully this will put a bee in my bonnet. Why give up oils for the acrylics. Thank you Utube.
Mr Ross always makes wet on wet look like its dryer when he breaks that snow down a mountain. I have better luck if I let my mountain dry over night. I often wonder of it was the canvas' he used. One man who made it look so natural,
"I love people who are plagued with dissatisfaction"
Thanks, Bob.
He gets philosophical sometimes.
+Bob Ross
He'd adore me!😉
Wise beyond words
Does he mean that those people continue to push and climb in their lives?

I love how all of Bob's paintings are essentially the same thing yet they're all different.
woah...
People are essentially the same thing, yet they're all different.

Aw happy birthday Bob 🎂
Another bed time story with Bob Ross,,,, its always so relaxing to watch him paint right before bed......good night,,,,,, Sass
You gotta love Bob Ross. He made us believe in magic. The world's a little darker without him.
I hope he was able to finally create that one painting that he was completely satisfied with before he passed..your truly one of a kind bob, rest easy
He beat his brush without mentioning the devil. I don't know what to believe anymore.
this guy^^... that was classic, I have you in the lead as far as comments go
BugPope... Believe in Bob... that's all you need 😂
Im so glad they are runn ing
Lol. He does always say" and just beat the devil out of it ."
Amanda Gregg and he always chuckles when he says it. Just the happiest little sound oh it gives me such joy ☺️
I LOVE when he paints mountains. He makes them look so so real. This was a very talented man. Rest in piece Mr Bob Ross.
Sometimes I despair, the world will never see another man like him .
People just like him go unnoticed because society pays more attention to people that make them angry than people that make them happy
@@kevinolmstead9875 This can only lead to the destruction of humanity.
The soothing voice. The kind attitude.
And the click clack of the knife. . .
90% of the time he does mountains.
And I don't hate that.
Sameji but he makes it look so easy how tf
Haha happy little mountains.😁
rc04 you need the right materials to paint like that
@@jasonz.669 Well still you gotta have SOME form of talent, I mean, anyone could with practice, but it takes some time
that's the only thing you'll learn, to me this is not painting.
I love he grins every time he beats the devil out of the brush 💜
Absolutely beautiful. You're gone, but you're my mentor for life.
This man was the truth! I used to love watching him paint. And the way he talks us through his process is therapeutic.
Bob: has painted 1 mountain
Me: looks away for 10 seconds
Bob: paints three other flawless mountains
Me: WTF HOW
"A little Crimson. What the heck" he's gone mad you can't just add Crimson. 😄😄😄😄😄😂😂😂
even his speech is beautiful art...
Oooh! tingly. He has such a great voice!

My cat loves watching with me😄. Bob's voice is so soothing & my kitty loves watching the big brushes...back & forth x x x
"I hope youre always plagued with dissatisfaction." Some of the greatest words of wisdom!

He probably did all of this so automatically through years of painting and just looking at mountains and trees, he didn't realize it himself.
You're right. He spent time being taught by Bill Alexander. He developed the style, but Bob perfected it.
Well said. It always looks great already and then he adds that slightly darker blue shadow to create depth on the mountain.
Atmos I’ve never seen a bob Ross painting I didn’t like. What we have in each episode is an example of a great artist in top form.
I think he probably realized himself, but he kept it extremely simple for the viewers so they wouldn't get discouraged :)
Matthew Seader ummm...no

Yeah, I wish someone would make a compilation video of all the mountains he painted.
I hope he got to paint something satisfying to him before he died. RIP Bob
Bob Ross is the god of asmr
I think he was satisfied with his painting career in total RIP Bob.
It makes me wonder what his last painting was and if he was satisfied with it...

You are right. He died July 4th 1995 at the young of 52 years.. He lost his battle with Lymphoma.
He had Lymphoma when he first taped his series, he had surgery and everything was fine. He had another hit of Lymphoma, went through radiation and chemotherapy, and unfortunately it did not work. He lost his battle 7/4/1995
Bob = G. O. A. T.!
I think these might be my favourite mountains that Bob has done. The fact that he did the painting in landscape format makes them better somehow. 👌🏻
Those mountains look more real than real mountains lol
Because that was how it's supposed to look like.
Really nigga that's the point dumbass
I don't get why people are being dicks about this, it was just a compliment.

Used to watching him on TV as a kid.... and now I could do some pretty amazing acrylic paintings
