When I was in eighth grade we would watch this show during 'homeroom' (we called it advisory and we had it after lunch), and we called it Bob Ross Fridays. We were so amazed by how real he made this stuff look. Sometimes he would start a new part of the painting and we would be like, "YOU RUINED IT!" but then he made it look amazing all over again. Good times.
In a matter of seconds, Bob make his paintings come alive. Dont know how he does it but Lord, he's got the magic touch! Its relaxing and genial. It's the wonderful Bob Ross!
I just love watching Bob create a masterpiece. I remember the first time I watched the joy of painting, and I was immediately drawn into it. After the episode was over, I got on my iPad and looked for more episodes. I’ve been wanting to paint just like him for a long time now. Last Christmas I got a puzzle book with paintings he did. It’s a lot of fun. It’s like you’re painting, except your putting a puzzle together
He declined the role of jedi master. He devoted his life to training young padawans to become jedis'. Palpatine/sidious was too afraid to get rid of him.
So Beautiful. Miss you Bob for years now. So happy too see your Videos and want too Thank Your Family so much for allowing this. God Bless Them. I will watch these Paintings till my time comes. I will be 76 may 17, 2019.
That quote really made Bob Ross' reality. It's devastating after research that he secretly suffered from Lymphoma, never to say anything to anyone and only embrace the situation and keep living his life harmoniously without causing stress to his family and friends; it's probably not what he wanted. He was a brave man to do that and left the world way too soon at 52 years old. Way too much to live for with his good heart and talents- it's quite heartbreaking ;(
What I so love about his programs is that he only says what he needs to and doesnt kill you with, BLAH BLAH BLAH!!, I LOVE watching him paint so humble and talented! 💞👍😉
@@melissamonroe3091 Tell him it means you're barely touching the canvas with the brush, using such a light touch that the only things contacting the canvas are a couple "hairs" (bristles) from the brush and air from your brush strokes. It's just a Bobism but it absolutely makes sense!!
16:58 "Step back and look at your painting every so often. Gives you a whole different view of it. Sometimes when you're painting you stay too close to it and you really can't see it. Step back." - Bob Ross "Western Expanse" 1985 (Season 6 | Episode 11)
Can you imagine how annoyed you'd be if you were waiting for the show to come on, all set up with your canvas, already covered with Magic White and he's like "we're painting on a bare canvas today!"
He uses black canvasses quite a bit. A few yellow, green, and gray ones too, or two-tone (half black, half white, especially in seascapes), or a "clear" canvas (Magic Clear) and he might cut an oval out of some contact paper or use masking tape to subdivide the canvas into two or three panels lol... an 18x24 with Liquid Hwite is his most common setup but Bob has a lot of variations!!
The best episodes are the ones he goes to town on the palette and the dry canvas using a knife. The sounds it makes knocks me out cold almost instantly

This is a totally different type of painting: mostly all created with a palette knife and the limited use of a brush for the desired effects! It proves that Mr. Ross could, indeed, create his compositional magic with only paints and the masterful use of only two application tools! Not the usual style that he employs with the 'wet-on-wet' technique, but very creative and impressive, none the less!
My only two Bob Ross pet peeves: 1. When he says "Today I thoyght we'd do something a little different," it's never true. It's exactly like every other Bob Ross painting. 2. When he says to "cut across" with the knife, he never cuts across, he PULLS DOWN. Otherwise I love ya, Bob.
I discovered Bob Ross recently and Im totally transfixed by his way with the brush and the knife. What a wonderful genial man! It's soothing and educational. It's Bob Ross!

Initially when he was putting in the clouds at the beginning, I thought, "that looks like shit, Bob." But in no time at all, they looked great and I then though, "I'm sorry for ever doubting you, Bob." He could do with a paint knife what I can't with a hundred brushes!
I've been wanting to see him do a painting with the knife ever since the first time I heard him talk about it. I was wondering how it could be done? I'd have to say I'm definitely not disappointed this is amazing thumbs way up and it's going into my watch later list so I can relive it again and again.

Lol that why I look specifically for his mountain paintings

true
That's the whole point
Love when he paints with the knife and this mostly knife only episode is one of my favorites.
This is a rarity for a Bob Ross episode: painting on a dry canvas with just a pallette knife. And it still looks good in less than a half hour.
His voice is so soothing. I've loved watching him paint since the 80's.
I watch him over and over again to help sleep Western expanse is pride my favorite and his 1 hour special
