- www.easysewingforbeginners.com shows you how print on fabric with your inkjet printer and freezer paper at home. In this video you will see step by step instructions for printing on fabric along with a tip about what I do to make the fabric retain more of the ink when it has been washed as well.
You can find the blog post for this tutorial here - www.easysewingforbeginners.com...
In this video I am using an Epson XP-410 and I highly recommend this printer. You can find it on *Amazon here: amzn.to/1zNmxEW
You can also use any of the other Epson printers that have the Durabrite ink.
I also recommend using the Durabrite ink with this printer as it is made to be colourfast and smudge resistant. You can find that on *Amazon here: amzn.to/1CqyO2A
You can also find Retayne on Amazon here* : amzn.to/20hLD9u or eBay here* :rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-532...

I did this 16yrs ago, I made a cushion for my daughter from her wedding photos and it still looks as good today.

Oh beautiful! I’m sure it’s a much loved and treasured cushion ❤️
Hi could you please tell me whether I need to buy a specific fabric printer or can you do it from a normal printer?
@@universecsky2 what's so funny??
Where do you buy the wax freezer paper at? I can't find it anywhere 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you so much for this video. After watching other videos, some of them ramble on and on. You get to the point right away. Looking forward to trying this out!
Thank you for this informative tutorial! Was just about to head out to the fabric store to buy printable fabric and saw this! Going to give it a try!
Fascinating! I don't understand why I am just learning about this technique but I do plan to try it - your video was excellent and I particularly liked where you showed the differences between types of ink and in the treated fabric vs. non-treated. I'm sure you have saved a lot of us from costly and time-consuming errors!
Thank you so much!!! I can't believe this finally worked. I have tried four or five other people's posts and yours worked the best.! Amazing. I am now able to create so many more personal items for friends and family!!!
Thanks for the tips. I'm just waiting overnight for the ink to dry and then will do the extra "Retayne" step you recommended. My most challenging step was getting my printer to pick up the thicker & smaller paper with the fabric attached. In the end I removed all the paper from my paper tray and left only the 1 piece of freezer paper with the fabric. And that worked. This will make printing quilt labels a much easier process.
This is so fun. She explained things very well. I will be doing this more often!!
Thank You! I've tried many years ago to hold the ink on printed projects! I'm go glad you showed the comparison!!
I tried this yesterday to make a tshirt "transfer" for a doll I made. I printed it onto cotton with my Canon inkjet printer and Mod Podged it onto the doll shirt. It worked great! I can't wait to try more projects! I've also shared your video with my doll making group.
That's great! I'd love to see a photo of what you've been making. Sounds very cute 😊
This tutorial is so well done and systematic! I especially loved the test results of the four methods at the end of the video. Thank you so much!
I made 6 labels for Quilts of Valor and they turned out just amazing! Thanks.
Excellent, clear instructions! You don't over-explain but you give great detail where warranted. Very useful. Thanks.
Great help to know that I needed to use a hot iron to iron the freezer paper to the fabric! I was having a great deal of difficulty trying to fed the freezer paper and fabric through prior to this, now hopefully, my project will be trouble-free! Thanks.
Such a great tutorial! My printer is HP Office Jet Pro 8720. Of course my printer wasn't on the link you provided and after looking it up for specifics, I learned it uses both pigment and dye based cartridges, so I have to do a bit more research. I commend you for doing such a straight forward tutorial, where I learned a lot. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.
Trying printing on fabric for the first time today! Loved the tutorial. Thank you!
This is by far the clearer, easier, and complete explanation! Thank you❤
Thanks for making this short, sweet, and to the point. I'm going to use this method to create personalized labels on special quilts that I make for family members.
Thank you for a very informative, easy to follow, video. Love the way you are careful to show all the steps and have gone the extra distance to give examples.( Makes me want to drop everything and try it out straight away :D ) Please keep the lessons coming, excellent work!
Thank you..I want to use some artwork that my dear friend did for me, before she passed away, to make a memory gift for her newborn grand daughter and couldn't figure out how to transfer the design. This video is a great help.
Great video. I just paid a lot for the brand names of printable fabric. a great save of money doing it your way. Thank you so much.
About 12 years ago I made a king sized quilt using this method. It was made up of photographs of a group of people who knew the recipient, as well as quotations that reflected the recipient. It was a beauty I must admit, tho lots of work because of the size. I found the most difficult part was removing the fabric from the freezer paper once it was printed. I've since made two other smaller memory quilts using the same method.
Super great instruction and demonstration. Thank you for the additional fabric treatment!
Brilliant, thank you - was so scared it wouldn't work but it came out looking fantastic.
Just ran across your video, I loved it and it is just what I was looking for, Your daughter is adorable. thank you
Perfect and concise video. Thank you so much for sharing. One of my gsons will b 12 tomrw. I plan on making a few diff things w a picture of him and his puppy. Thanks again for a 'make it easy' project. Im so excited to get started.
Thank you for this video, you have answered all my questions about printing on fabric, thanks again, Julie
Thanks for the video it was quite helpful. Planning on making a quilt with pictures of my daughter and I as she grew up,for her high school graduation present.
Thanks! Appreciate explaining about Retayne and letting the print dry overnight.
Thank you so much! This is something I was wondering about for a while. I was worried about washing printer-made fabric, and you satisfied my worry. Thank you! Blessings!!! :)
This is great! I've been wondering how to do it the simplified and cost effective way. Thank you so much!
Excellent tutorial. I found that my machine didn't like it when the fabric was used with just one sheet of the freezer paper but was ok with 2 sheets. Felt more like paper with more freezer paper attached. x
Thank you so much for this great information. My friend had paid someone to do just this and the quality was not as she would have liked. I'm going to try this and hope it comes out better.

Wow! One could make their own charm packs out of their imagination!!!! I love this! Thank you.
Could use coloring book pages too. Really cute idea
Can NOT WAIT to try this! Thanks for a great video!
AWESOME PROJECT, This was so amazing to watch. Thank YOU so much! Can't wait to see more.
Easy to follow and so helpful. My project piece came out of the printer beautifully. Thanks!
Thank you for showing how to treat the printed material. I have wanted to learn how to do that for a long time.
Great video. Thank you. I'm so pleased you didn't 'waffle' on like so many youtubers do. You were clear and concise. I will certainly be doing this.
Thanks, +michelle kaplan! Appreciate the kind comment 😃
I subscribed to her channel because she gets to the point quickly
Very clear instructions, thank you. Now I can try this having bought some a while ago and unsure how to use it. Just need to get some retayne now.
Thank you so much 😊 that was very helpful indeed, and I going to transfer simple images that I can appliqué onto. But should I want to be more adventurous then you've given me everything that I need brilliant 😀👌
Really enjoyed your Video, really easy to understand going to give your Technique ago just as soon as I buy some freezer paper as I have wanted to print my own fabric. Great video
Thank you for simplifying something that can seem complicated! I will share what I'm working on...after I give it a try!
thank you for this interesting post, your clear voice and directions were so easy to listen to.
Great tutorial, this is so much cheaper than buying the pre made sheets. Thank you
It sure is! Glad I could help out!
Thank you, I am making dolls of my grandkids. I have tried transfer paper, commercial printing, and had bad results. Look forward to trying your video method. You are wonderful.
Thank you I have looked all over town for someone to do this for me and now I can do it myself.
Awesome!!
This was awesome worth a try living in South Africa where we don't have freezer paper but did get hold of a rol and going to be making my labels tnx
I never thought of using Retayne. Next time I'll add that step to my printing process.
This is the best and clearest instruction I've seen. Gave great details. I'm so impressed with your video.
Hello. Madame.
Good to see you. How are you today?
Craig the guy wondering a curious appreciative guy here;)
Thanks for the demonstration.
Pigment inks a must. Freezer paper. Retane a must too. Great stuff.
Lovely tutorial. Thank you for showing the different results at the end. I thought of using this method for a memory quilt which would be washed. You gave me some food for thought. :)
Great video! Thanks so much for sharing. Looking forward to trying this.
Clear instructions and liked the comparison at the end :)
Thanks, *****!
Thank you for this demonstration you just gave me the answers I was thinking about the other day. Shirley Campion
I like your tutorials, clear and easy to catch up! Thanks a lot 😊
Thank you for very good video..you are a good teacher..short and to the point..comparisons nice too..God bless you and your family👸❤️🙏🌈
helpful tutorial and great comparison of results at the end.
Thanks I like the Crafty Gemini and it ran me to your example. Thanks so much for being quite easy and a easy follow.
This is awesome. I can see this working well for quilt labels.
Wonderful tutorial; very thorough. I will be trying this method.
Great simple tutorial. Trying it today! Thank you!
Thankyou, very encouraging, you made it seem so easy, Jackie.
I have tried this with success so thank you so much for developing this technique. I did use the painters tape which helped immensely with feeding into the printer. I was unable to find any retayne and used a different fabric fixative but found the colour changed. I think I will need to investigate the pigment based ink cartridges instead of the dye based cartridges.
merryl wells pigment based inks will definitely help with holding the colour of the ink. I'm glad this video has helped 😊
Excellent video and instruction!! Demonstration at the end very helpful!!!
To prevent the frayed threads thru the printer put a painter's tape on the edge that goes first into the printer.
+Naticris Tellavi That would definitely be worth a try!

Where do you buy your freezer wax paper at? I can't find any
@@ginabrooker6595 grocery store or amazon
@@ginabrooker6595 Hunting store. It's used to wrap meat for the freezer.
excellent, i love your simple steps, this is what I learn, thanks!
That was awesome, thank you! Nice comparison, I like the faded look actually for vintage, shabby chic wall hangings, which is what I'm going for. Thanks again :)
worked perfectly! great instructions and advice.
Thank you for your video... loved the ... I 'm really going now... I am going to use labels a sheet full of them for smaller labels. to put inside loom knit hats and on quilts, thank you so much.
Really a great solution and presentation. Thank you
Very clear instructions.. thank you for sharing.
You’re an excellent teacher. Thank you
Thanks so much!! You saved me tons of experimental time - wonderful!
Marc Timpson Glad I could help. If I can save at least one person the hassle (and time) of all the testing I did, then it's all worth it!
Very good instructions. Thanks for sharing!
Nicely presented and easy to follow. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this tutorial I enjoyed it and feel ready to try this method thanks for sharing 👍😊😊
Got to get iron and ironing board. So excited to try. Would love to show results
enjoyed this tutorial. I'm looking forward for more. God Bless.
Thank-you for a very easy to follow tutorial!
Thank you for all of the great info! You did forget to mention to iron the freezer paper to the BACK of your fabric though ❤
Awesome video. This should help me a lot with a project I'm working on.
Excellent info and excellent pacing on the tutorial!
very good demonstration clear and easily understood highly recommend
Thankyou so much for sharing this. Fantastic tutorial !
Excellent tutorial! Blessed and safe days!
The comparison at the end was wonderful.

The best tutorial! great for my covid 19 mask projects. Thank you!!!!
This is a great tutorial! I can now do exactly what I wanted to do! Thanks so much for making it!
Extremely helpful! Thank you!
Wonderful. So easy thank you so much. You have opened a new world for this little crafter and cheaper than I thought. Where do we buy the ink ??
This is wonderful! I am going to try this right away!
Great video! I've watched other videos of how to print on fabric and none were as thorough as this one. Thank you! A thought--I'm making some brand labels for my products using this method and plan to use fusible vinyl on the fabric to further protect the design since my products are for bath and body. I'm hoping it works. I will also use the Rotayne. :)
Excellent tutorial. I'm looking forward to trying this soon. 'Here's hoping that Retain/Retayne is readily availbable.
Great video. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
Clear concise and helpful. Thank you.
Fabulously easy to follow - I am now about to try it!
Tried to give you a big thumbs up but it wasn't working. Well presented, clear instructions. Your technique was a lot easier than others I've seen. Thank You
Awesome video. I didn't know about retainer. Where would you find that. This is all new to me I'm glad I got to see it. No wonder my pictures always faded. Thank you so much for the lesson. I've been using the sheets already prepare but picture always faded after the first wash.
Along with the retayne, you may be able to iron it one last time before washing to help seal/set in the ink.
