Thanks for a great video - it even showed printer settings and need to have it perfectly trimmed so it does not get caught up in the printer. You rock! 💞
Thank you .. I will give this a try for my next quilt top. But I think I will use my ruler and rotary cutter for the cutting out for printer. Thank you again
Freezer paper is expensive where I live. Instead, I use plain sticky-tape to tape my piece of fabric along the leading edge of a piece of printer paper. Load as usual, with the fabric on the printing side and then iron the printed fabric with a hot iron (I use baking paper just to be careful) to set the print. I've used this technique to make doll-sized prints including tartans to fit Barbie. It works pretty well for photos too, so long as the original has good resolution.
@@heyuitsme I'm not entirely sure, tbh. I've washed a black and white print successfully, but not colour. I know it's important to iron the fabric on the highest possible heat (without damaging, of course) in order to 'set' the ink. I'll have to do some tests to find out! :)
I have used this method for some my problem is also that we don't have Freezer paper here New Zealand so have get it from USA or Canada luckily have a Sister living in Canada.i have printed on a lot of different fabrics with success Childrens bookbags with favourite book covers and their name on made with Calico were a favourite with Grandies😊
The ink can be set with a mordant called Retayne. Follow the instructions for setting the ink by soaking the printed fabric in this solution. I use this method with my laser jet for my quilt labels.
Unfortunately, ink jet ink is not permanent in fabric. Color ink will wash out, but black ink will only fade. This is not a technique you want to use on something frequently washed.
It does not have to be sublimation ink.. I did this 15 years ago without a sublimation printer, All I had was a cheap cannon.. I made bears when my mom died and put a saying on a pillow and the foot of the bear with this technique.
I have this same EXACT printer. BUT….. I just don’t know what type of ink I use because when I bought the printer the man selling them inside Best Buy convinced me to purchase a monthly subscription for the ink & pages I’m allowed to print each month. I figure it out, though! Glad I at least know I can use my printer for this! Thanks!
Comments - - great idea - Use a light yellow for the fabric so the distinction is clear when printing, what side is what - no need to show the full actual ironing and cutting times (boring for viewers). Could start with a larger sheet of FP and use a rotary cutter, might better maintain adherence with the FP. - a color clip-art image would better demonstrate what’s possible.
A great fast video which would have been even faster if you edit out the paper cutting and the printer set up which are things we don't need to see. But a good video nonetheless. I just used this video to do paper into fabric....voila...it is a fantastic way to do the job. I am using this fabric i made to cover my spines of my fairy journal. So so easy and quick. I love it. Thank thank thank you so very much. It will be just gorgeous
Always something to use it for. Maybe not another square but as scrap paper. Drafting paper for something your planning like a quilt. I would never just throw it out. I'm a reuser. ❤
@@dcwatashi Tysm! I just did a quick google search and it looks like retayne may be worth experimenting with for my project. I really appreciate the help 🫶🏽
Seriously, you just wanted all that time and material to print out the word Thomas? WOW, it would have been nice to see what a nice color image would have looked like.
I’m using butcher paper, shiny side down and it’s not adhering to the quilters fabric (cotton) at the cotton setting ( and hotter) on the iron? What am I doing wrong?
Best straight forward demo on the subject. No long winded diatribes trying to explain every nuance for the inevitable questions in one video.
Thanks for a great video - it even showed printer settings and need to have it perfectly trimmed so it does not get caught up in the printer. You rock! 💞
A great video with clear instructions. The parts I didn’t need I just fast forwarded through them.
Good job. Make more videos.
Thank you. So nice to see in detail without the dreadful voices some people have.
I was skeptical when I watched this. It works so well!! Amazing!
Well done you! I did like the cutting and printer set up unlike a few others who are more adept than I am. Thanks!😊
Thanks so much for this, I've just bought some A4 sheets of freezer paper and your tutorial is so straightforward.
this looks like a great way to transfer patterns for embroidery! That's what I am going to use it for
I love how you use a towel for your ironing board …I do the same thing. Lol. Thank you for a great video 👍👍

There used to be a product called synthropol that set color in fabric. Don’t know if it’s still available. Great video!Thank you!
It’s her video she can do whatever she wants
Thanks so much for this. I have been wanting to know how for years!😊
Can you use freezer paper more than once?
Thank you so much for sharing this technique. I will probably use this idea for a journal page...
What a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing. 😊
You can reuse the freezer paper. I have reused some over 15 times.

Great video. Thanks!
Just did 36 photos! How do I keep them from fading? Cool water washes the print out!
IRON THE FABRIC AFTER IT IS TOTALLY COOL WITH A HOT IRON
I use my rotary cutter to cut the fabric with the freezer paper
Found this today. Thank you!
Can I print in color? Ty
Thank you, great tutorial 😊
Going to try this with my brand labels and then Scotchgard them!
Thank U for this Video, I was wonder How I can used my inkjet printer on fabric.
Loved the video!!!🎉
I have so many ideas that I could use this with.
a perfect tutorial! thank you!
❤❤❤
Can you use other fabric besides cotton
Once you have peeled of the back paper ~ 🤷🏿♀️~ do you lay it on the foundation fabric and just iron ~ or do you need a add some kind of special glue?
No printer...but I do have FP, thanks, I love it!
What happens when we wash the fabric?

Did you use all cotton fabric or was it a cotton/polyester blend?
I’m from the UK and puzzled what freezer paper is. Is it the same as the parchment for cooking. I’ve never heard of freezer paper.
Freezer paper is white paper with a special slick side that butchers use to wrap meat with.
You can buy it online.
I was going to ask that, thanks.
Fantastic video. Thank you!
Hi great video can I ask where the music is from I love it! Thank you.
as the kids say #Same 😋
What setting do you use on your iron? Steam or no steam?
NON STEAM
What is freezer paper please.? We are in UK. Is it like greaseproof paper?
It is like waxed paper that you wrap meat in to freeze.
Thank you so much 👍
What setting is the iron on please ty
High iron
can you use wax paper instead of printer paper?
You need to use freezer paper. Wax paper has a wax coating that will melt. Have a great day!
Wonderful!
Just use a4 sticker paper :) stick to the fabric and off you go.
thank you because of this tutorial i will print the yugoslavian and philippine flag and put in my room
please what is the name of the white fabric and where do you get it from?
Hi Tony! The fabric was just a simple cotton quilters fabric you can buy at any big box store.
@@supercraftygal8359 thank you !!!!
printer ink is often sublimation type ink. It works best on synthetic fabrics, and needs to be heat set.
It does not have to be sublimation ink.. I did this 15 years ago without a sublimation printer, All I had was a cheap cannon.. I made bears when my mom died and put a saying on a pillow and the foot of the bear with this technique.

Jessica. If you are on Insta ink program with HP, you have ink jet. I love the program and wondering if the nicer printers come with that same deal.
I did this successful 6years ago and now I can't get paper to stick ??????help

doesit have to be white fabric
Did you use pigmented ink?
Hi Kaye, it was regular ink jet printer ink.
Is this only for lazer printers or can it work with inkjet too?
Laser is better
Inkjet only
What iron setting, please?
What are "waterfall containers?"

If i want to print on shirt then i will cut the shirt then print so good idea
Does anyone know if there’s something you can spray onto the fabric to help preserve the print from the wash?
So far I haven't found anything. I tend to use this method on things like wall hangings or things that won't need to be washed.
Try Retayne

@Trudy Belle but how do I get any image to my printer? That's my delimma

I’d use a rotary cutter instead of scissors
well... this is handy IF you have a printer!!

Then what? Your name is on a cloth...
I know right. You can’t put it on a shirt with this method which is what we need for my Dance Group. ??
This is used mostly for crafting. not clothing.
Good instructions, but a long winded video.
So you put it on a piece of fabric, then what? How do you put it on a t-shirt?
Not a good technique to use on a tee shirt or other garment that has to washed.
@@hollyingraham3980 Then, why not show some examples of where you can use this technique?
I speeded it up to 1.75 to make it bearable.

It's not plastic, it's freezer paper. Plastic would melt.
