    MY MAN! I have been watching HOURS of youtube videos in search of something like this. Your series on this project is extremely well done. You are VERY informative and you don't skip over any small details nor do you overexplain very simple concepts. I was on the fence about hiring a contractor but after watching your videos I now have the confidence to do this myself. You are doing God's work. haha. Thank you so much!

    Very cool i need to build one for my parents.When they were told to evacuate there was no place to go.She drove to a metal building car wash and parked in there .
    Never again .I learning how to build and thats the first thing I will.build.
    I think your way is better.Im looking into the earthbag however bricks are ready made so that will.be the way on the storm shelter.
    A big hug to you and yor hard working wife for showing me something today that makes better sense.

I watch tons of those because I plan on building one myself and YOUR attention to detail in explanation would mean a World to all who are planning the same. The videos I watch, the guys are professional and, I guess, try to explain it, but they completely miss ALL of the small details that are the most important parts to know. Not sure whether or not they do this on purpose. THANK YOU SO MUCH for these series of videos!

    The only thing I'd add as a tip would be, dampen the blocks with a sponge or brush before you add the mortar to the block.
    Reason being, when the block is damp, the moisture pulls in the chemicals that are in the mortar, into the pours of the block, making for a stronger bond between mortar and block.
    If you just slap wet mortar into a dusty block, it doesn't really bond, and results in premature block shifting while the structure settles, or durri g seismic activity

    It’s me again with a question, the yellow string tells you where to set the block so that the wall is plum all the way down, correct? Does it ever go out of plum? Is it necessary to use a four foot level to check to see if it’s plum or does the yellow string keep it all lined up? This is me worrying 😒 If I build a basement do I need drainage tile around the outside or inside of it? I’ll be using a septic tank. Sorry for driving everyone crazy 🤪

    What kind of blocks are these? Standard weight concrete? Cinder? Basalite? I'm getting quotes on having a block basement built and the builder says he only uses the light weight blocks. I'm not sure of the difference between cinder and basalite blocks but they're both lightweight. Google says cinder blocks are much weaker than concrete blocks and I'm nervous about paying a fortune for a future headache of potentially bowing walls. Would you consider concrete filled cinder blocks strong enough to last? Thanks for any assistance.

    • @D.I.Y._All-in-One
      @D.I.Y._All-in-One  2 роки тому

      Concrete blocks are kind of the standard now, You will want to confirm what the building codes are in your area, for if cinder blocks are even allowed. That being said, after the cinder blocks are filled with concrete they are fairly strong, but if you don't fill all the cells, the structure will not be near as strong as a Concrete block wall.
