  • IIn each episode of DiResta (every other Wednesday), artist and master builder Jimmy DiResta (Dirty Money, Hammered, Against the Grain, Trash for Cash) lets us into his workshop, to look over his shoulder while he builds whatever strikes his fancy.
    In this episode, Jimmy goes modular and builds a rolling tool cabinet for his shop from the ground up. Read more at MAKE: makezine.com/video/diresta-rol...

    Great ideal, great execution. When space is a premium, I know what it's like to have to juggle stuff around to have more. This solves storage and space problems! Top work!

    I just built 2 of these, and love being able to roll these out of the way,,, or, closer to the work.
    Mine have to roll out of a boxvan, on to jobsites,, so 5'10" was the max height, by 2' deep,, But I did make them 6' wide. Next 2 will get 4" casters thou,, 3" wheels struggle on uneven surfaces,, especially when the cabinet is loaded.
    Great vids Jimmy. Looking forward to seeing your other YT project vids.
    PS.. the "dirty" bent hinge trick was golden.

    Watching this video is so funny because one of my co workers just spray painted all of his tools, so every one can know they are his, and the only paint around was some white gutter touch up paint. Crazy!

    Has any one asked where you buy those white drills that work upside down, or the rubber tipped push stick that seems to be an extension to your arm? We can't buy them over here in the UK.

    Nice, but if the hinges are on the outside it is easy to get into it simply by unscrewing them, so the lock is not much use...

  • @Wordsnwood
    @Wordsnwood 10 років тому

    I'm curious about your outfeed table behind the Table Saw. It looks like a sacrificial top? At least, I've seen you cutting directly on it in other videos. Is is 1" foam, or is it a sheet of Plywood or ??
    I also have a small shop and learned long ago that four swivelling wheels are the only way to go. Often people put two fixed and two swivel on a cabinet, but that does not work in tight spaces.
    Thanks for the video, enjoyed it!
