- In each episode of DiResta (every other Wednesday), artist and master builder Jimmy DiResta (Dirty Money, Hammered, Against the Grain, Trash for Cash) lets us into his workshop, to look over his shoulder while he builds whatever strikes his fancy.
In this episode, DiResta creates a toolbox using the wood reclaimed from an old pallet.

Jimmy never ceases to impress.
I love it when seemingly nothing but scrap turns into something of value
I very much appreciate the speed at which you show these videos. I can't sit and watch a tool box be made for an hour, but I can in five minutes. Great work. Thanks for sharing.
never get tired of seeing old wood coming back to life in new shapes
This makes it hard to look at wasted pallets now. Thanks for making and sharing.
WOW just speachless that you turned UGLY pallet wood into that beautiful toolbox !!! AMAZING
Dude you are not just an artist,,,you are an ARTISAN,,,,Thank you Thank you Thank you,,,,,Im going to make one with my son,,,,
You're doin' the Lord's work, Jimmy. Keep on keepin' on.
I love pallets. Our local hardware shop has a big area out the back where they put their pallets, and people are allowed to take as many as they want for free. Most are pine, but sometimes you get some really interesting wood in them.
With hardly any effort - as you've shown - you can get some really nice looking timber that has a rustic feel to it. Some of the things I've made out of pallet timber is amazing. Shelves, tables, cupboards, side boards etc.
Great to see you encouraging this sort of recycling, Jimmy!
I'm glad you were able to put up the Entire video this time and not just 2 min of it!
Tossing the axe in at the end made me remember the opening of the Woodwright's shop. Thanks!
Pallets are a shame to waste! Good work Jimmy! Love your videos!
How to reclaim a pallet 101. Always a learning experience. Great Job Jimmy!
More gold!!!
Thank you always!
That's EXACTLY how I take pallets apart! The Nice-n-Easy way! Great project, thanks for sharing!
I love that you repaired the one split board. The glue will make it stronger than before.
Finish product looks wonderful. Now, I have another use for durable, hard pallet wood which so many folks trash. Thank you for this share.
We made the exact same tool box at school but we did it all be hand no power tools and the side joints were had three dove tails. Nice work my friend inspiring!
Great video Jimmy. I hope Make has you around for a long time!!!
Jimmy, you never failed us. You really started the year with a great one. Are you going to do some more recycling projects like what you just did? Keep up the great job..
I love these pallet wood projects. As a senior on a fixed income, I can't afford to buy too much lumber.
The shot of the cross cut sled had me going for a second, thought you came up with a sliding blade saw of some sort. Love the bandsaw dove tails
I've never seen someone saw that quickly and accurately before, amazing!
He didn't saw that quickly it's called a time lapse
+riley harris no, he's just really fast. He doesnt edit his videos.....
Absolutely fantastic, hands down one of the best videos I've ever seen.
Great work once again, Jimmy! I definitely want to try my own now, after watching this a few more dozen times.
Oh thank god! I was beginning to get the shakes from DiResta withdrawal.
I'll be nice to Mr. DiResta this year.
DiResta, doing great stuff, with a Rolex on the wrist. :)
I knew an old polish super in NYC who paneled his basement apartment with pallet wood, it was beautiful. I like the arched handle.
PELIGRO - CABEZAL DE CORTE... your work is freaking awesome Jimmy, I'm a big fan from Chile
at 1:30 the sound that the planer makes is definitely some sort of alien language.
Sounds like skrillex
Amazing, I really like Jimmy's style and look forward to every MAKE DiResta:
I made the same type of tool box when I was building and installing kitchen cabinets. I just added a slot on the outside of the tool box to hold hand saws.
Nice tool box. Just like the one my grand dad had.
These are always fun to watch.
Man I'm envious of that guys shop....
Yeah. I want to do videos showing what can be done with a circular saw and router and skill...just need to get some skills!
Even though i have 3 toolboxes already...i really want to make this
Thats amazing,no one would you made it out of pallets unless you told them or they saw the video.
I was like "But will my axe fit in it?" Then I was all "Hell yeah my axe will fit in it!"
Good work as usual.. This may sound silly, but sometimes I miss plane, saw, and chisel joinery. Just something about knowing the tools on a deeper level. We've all seen knock out work from both camps of course. Maybe I'll go tune mine old stuff up and remember why I put it away.
Never fail to impress. Looks awesome. Happy New Year Jimmy!
Thank you Happy new year
One man's garbage is another man's gold.
This would be a mighty pain in the butt without all the nice tools you've got.
very great jimmy diresta
Another great video. Just love it.
Gracias... Gracias... Gracias Maestro...!!!
No "Diresta" stencil on the end of it?
Love the fast forward!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This man is truly amazing!!
Using hide glue in a rub joint when edge laminating the boards will save the time of clamping and waiting for the glue to dry.
Sweet Tool box. Thanks for sharing.
THAnk you !!
Great video! To the point great editing. awesome upcycle project. One I will definitely do. Thanks!
Awesome as always... Diresta the band saw wizard! Happy New Year!
Fantastic work JImmy! Happy New Year! Thank you for the weekly inspiration!
Oh my God! Its awesome, from a pieces of wood you build that box! I shocked.
Awesome as usual Jim. Thanks for the New Year message.
Thank you!!!
Wonderful, great idea.
The wood in making the pallets is usually oak (white or red), something we value for it toughness and versatility. :)
You'd be able to fit a lot more stuff on the pallet! 😂
Great job Jimmy I love your work
that pallet wood can really clean up!
You such a master carpenter....... i always enjoy your vids.
Superb editing!
The hardest part of re-using pallet wood is removing the nails, ring shanks are almost impossible to remove, I never thought of just cutting through them like that !
Such talent!
Awesome work!
I really like your videos and stuff you make. I make a lot of things using wood from pallet but I always save old nails and I bring them to the metal recycle centre. When you have a good amount of waste metal it's a pity to throw it away in the general waste
So awesome, wish I had a work shop.... One day!
beautiful.
simple curve on the handle... huge difference in overall result! good one
felicitaciones carpintero por tan practico y util trabajo jorge de argentina
I liked your work.
Love it.
Classic Diresta!
thank you
Thanks for making and have a good vape bro! ;)
Beautiful. Awesome.
Very nice, I wish I could work that fast!
Well done, sir!
esse cara tem estilo!
I'll be making smaller versions of this design for my kids - once it gets a bit warmer;)
Sick. Absolutely sick.
Hahaha i love how you throw the nails
That's awesome.
Jimmy I like watching your videos in your creativity it's nice thanks for making the videos if I could have a lot of fun I like you can spot I like you house in the woods I miss the country
Cool project and a nice size.
Cheers
Tim from wood 4 nothing
Top job again.
its like the guy woke up, saw a pallet and thought 'I need a toolbox.'
Frigging brilliant , reincarnated ship builder/cabinet maker ?
Mr D, you should build the ultimate pallet breaker/buster!!!! That's hard on your blade!!
It's a metal cutting blade being used for exactly what it's designed for.
I would like to see more video's on cutting large dove tails with the band saw and table saw. Like a joinery how too video.
Good work. When I see this, I would rather buy ready cut boards. He used a long time preparing the planks from the pallet, but I guess that is part of the transformation. Anyhow, very good job :-)
jimmydiresta do you speak spanish? I have noticed that the warning sign in one of your machines is written in spanish ahaha! You are kind of an inspiration to me, for show to all the people getting things done! And beautifully done! Many thanks and keep up the fantastic work!
Man you work fast!
Damn that looks nice.
WOW that's Amazing.
really nice!! great idea!!
Wow. Impressive.
Now i need that giant thing that he use to cut the wood..
Hey Jimmy... this may be a stupid question to an old video, but... What is holding the two end cap boards, on each side, together besides wood glue? I saw you used brad nails for the bottom and side pieces, but should the wood glue fail under the weight of tools, the end caps will split and ruin the whole box. That aside it is a beautiful piece that would be great for decoration. You do good work!
That was cool.
Еще одна идея, применению поддону!
Спасибо!
i dont understand a single word
Valera was speaking Russian.....
"Another idea, use pallet! Thank you!"
i knew it was russian but i dont understand russian in general but thank you :P
Joris B Hello!
