Wow! Great video Sean. Nice shot of the entire lamb chop window. Amazing how long trains have become. I'm grateful for every video you upload; the caboose build and your backyard layout. Great workmanship. Kudos!
Thanks James. I sure wish I had taken video of more then my last year. They're getting longer and longer. Almost everything is distributed power now, and lengths have increased to 16,500'.
Hi James. Here's something you'll like. This was some of the track I ran on west of Edmonton but never got video for. Shane ua-cam.com/video/WMt6at6Z3d0/v-deo.html
Glad you liked it Rafterman. That's the forward facing camera which is part of the event recording system. After I retired, they started putting in cameras facing the crew to record what they were doing.
Thanks GearheadExplorer85. No, the conductors simply let me know I was hauling Special Dangerous. They never told me how many, or what they were. The restrictions included 35MPH around major cities, so they were a bit of a pain when they were part of the train.
Hi Jeff. No, these ones had control stands. ( I wasn't a fan of desktop controls ) On average, I was probably 4 feet back from the glass. Keep the scale in mind. The cabs are about 10' wide, so the engineer's windshield alone is about 4 1/2 feet wide by 2 feet tall.
So cool! What a ride, all the way from the teardrop windows to that wicked horn! Some cool meets along the way as well! Do you know what number that leader was, and any other locomotives in the consist?
Amazing video man, its very helpful with making me relax during stressful times in college, you earned yourself a new subscriber and will def check out your other videos
Awesome videos!! do you have any exterior footage looking back (similar to you sd75s and 70M-2s) from a dash8 standard cab or any additional internal footage you plan on releasing?? i know the sounds can be overwhelming/distorted with vibrations but just curious
Thanks Seediddy. If you go to the Blowing Crossings 2 video ( ua-cam.com/video/5_CJaNesxCs/v-deo.html ) the Dash 8 footage there is taken from a one hour clip. It's not a very pleasant day, but I could post it if you are interested.
@@CanadianrailroadsCa I am definitely interested in that one hour of dash-8 and thanks for letting me know. I wish there was more footage like this. If I may ask what did you use for a camera and how did you mount it? With the heavy vibrations it usually causes things to be distorted.
@@seediddy Give me a few weeks, and I'll try to get it uploaded. I used a GoPro Hero4 Black. I have a magnetic mount made for attaching the camera to aircraft.
I'm waiting on that haha, until then I'm just skimming through seeing what there is to see 😁 Just made it to the first meet there with the dash 8 leader!
Hi Benjamin. They were always my favourite. The cabs were the quietest in the fleet. You could actually talk without raising your voice. They were quick to load, and didn't drop their load at the first sign of wheel slip.
@@CanadianrailroadsCa Thanks for responding to my comment. I asked another engineer about these engines, and he said basically the same as you. The one thing he said he didn't like was that the dynamic brakes don't really do anything until about notch 5.
@@BenjaminStewart-u9j That's an area where the AC units really excel. I only had them about a dozen times, but they had powerful DB that didn't seem to fade. I wish I could have run one of the SD70ACE units ( 8100's ) to see what they were like. I saw them a few times, but never got one as a lead unit.
Maan i'm super blazed rn and this was...just the perfect thing to relax to. thanks man
Thanks Kellanium. Glad you enjoyed the ride.
I think it’s really cool to see the view from in side the locomotive when we normally see them going by
Glad you enjoyed the different view Vortex_Sniper.
Always happy when there's a new Canadian Railroads video in my suggestions!
Thanks Thehercccc.

Thanks very much for this video. Is that a backward facing camera by the wipers on the engineer's side ?
Glad you liked it Rafterman. That's the forward facing camera which is part of the event recording system. After I retired, they started putting in cameras facing the crew to record what they were doing.
That was amazing.
Thanks Frog and Flange Video.
Great video so eye opening to what the crew sees.
Thanks James. Glad you enjoyed it.
I love Canadian trains
Excellent. Thanks for the visit Zach.
Cool video! Love the EMD rumble with my speakers cranked up. Do you remember the hazmat load you were hauling to get a speed restriction?
Thanks GearheadExplorer85. No, the conductors simply let me know I was hauling Special Dangerous. They never told me how many, or what they were. The restrictions included 35MPH around major cities, so they were a bit of a pain when they were part of the train.
It seems that the controls are far back from the window..doesn't that make it harder to see? Is it desktop controls? i always enjoy your videos

Infra sound in headphones gives an idea of the immense power of the propulsion system.
Yes, needs lots of base. :)

Woah... sounds like a really cool consist! Thanks!
Great video CR man. While I don’t miss being an engineer, it’s nice to see this view again. Keep up the great work and continued success 👍
Thanks Chevy. Overall, I miss it, but there are some aspects I'm glad I will never have to deal with again. :P
@@CanadianrailroadsCa you got that right. Getting called for 21:00 used to drive me nuts after being first up all afternoon lol.
@@chevy3022 How about ticket slashers, or maybe a union that paid their own conductor only violations while the rest of us are still waiting.
@@CanadianrailroadsCa ouch lol. Definitely don’t miss not being paid as per agreement. There were rumours about the conductors issues!!
@@chevy3022 Well, I can tell you I had over 100 submitted, and to date, I've been paid for one.
Highballin to Vancouver? That's what I love about Canada, you can still go hundreds of miles without seeing another soul.....
Being able to see signals for miles on the open prairie is nice too.
37:10 is a double head search light but the rest of this video is all D signals. How come only that section is a search light signal and rest modern ?
I wish I knew. Maybe there is a future project for the area that includes upgrades.
I found my new channel just subscribed keep up the awesome work I plan to be an engineer at Norfolk Southern.
I hope it works out for you TheSouthern RailLines. It's a great job.

Does that SD75i Have a K5HL or something?

Oh
@@iatif1995 most SD75i horns are fouled, so you're probably right, this is either a K5HL or K5H that's fouled
