The 512GB cartridge thing is inacurate. They are talking about on board storage not storage for the cartridge. We don't even know the type of card these things will use only that it could be 3D NAND but 512 would be wayyy too much. I'd imagine 64GB-128GB would be the max and even then it's too expensive to produce.
People have literally claimed Nintendo was going to die and move to being a software publisher...since the NES. They've merged handhelds and home consoles, even their "failure" generations when you combine handheld and console they have sold around 100 million pieces of hardware or more and a large amount of software. With the exception of the Wii U gen, which still came close between the 3DS and Wii U. This gen isn't even their biggest success, 7th gen saw them sell over 200 million units of hardware between the Wii and DS and over twice the software of the Switch. Even their "failure" generations, they have still done very well. So even if next gen they disastrously underperform the Switch, odds are they're going to put out more games than anyone and sell around 100 million units of hardware.
I think we've had this discussion so often now that it probably won't make sense anymore. It's like saying that Sony will be a software dev in the future. (What is imo more likely even, considering they are basically dedicated PCs right now. But I don't think that this will happen either). Nintendo is in a position right now where they have the popularity not even back, they got it WITH the switch. Look at the awful sold consoles besides the Wii. Only handhelds were kinda great in terms of sales, but this was mainly because of kids and teenagers I assume. The switch is basically Nintendos PS2 console wise. Even if Nintendo do a complete whacky weird next console that flops, they probably won't give up on hardware. Because that's how Nintendo works. They build software and then they build the hardware around that software. That is what people don't consider.
Impossible Nintendo will never failed Like sega. Saturn and dreamcast... 2 failure in a row and they never managed to get as successful as Nintendo. The switch will probably be the best selling console ever (more than. Ps2) event if the next one is a failure... they will still be here. If they do 2 failure in a row maybe they can fail... but just " maybe" because n64 and GameCube was not a massive success either. You don't understand nintendo spirit, they are very pride and they only think of entertainment. So I can put anything on the table, they will never be a software only developer.
I appreciate your comment and I agree with your sentiments! I personally don't want them to end up going software-only and I think it's going to take a few heavy blows for that to occur, however the Wii U was a very massive hit for Nintendo and the switch was a massive gamble and if it wasn't successful we might have seen a very different future for Nintendo. Another thing to keep in mind is the actual shift in management and Leadership at Nintendo, the company's priorities are very different versus what they were several years ago during the Wii U's era. I mean just look at NSO versus virtual console. The spirit and pride of Nintendo is not the same as it used to be and with the fact that they seem to be going from Innovation to iteration is very telling, now of course there is the DS and the handheld Market which is mainly based on iteration and it was extremely successful and it's very likely this will still hold true for the future consoles that Nintendo will release in that style. Finally I'd like to point out that this was just one outcome that I stated I also mentioned that they could very well make another console to bounce back if the switches successor is not successful and the overall point of this video was to explore multiple possibilities that I've seen people discuss with one of the most prominent being the possibility of Nintendo going software-only sense logically it would make them a lot more money with a lot less effort. And at the end of the day Nintendo is a business and their main goal is to make profit so if Nintendo had to go software only to survive they most likely would do so just as their rival did years ago. Either way I'm very excited for the future Nintendo and I'm excited to see what the next console bring! Anywho I appreciate your comment and I enjoyed having this discussion with you!
Good video. I've been thinking about this a bunch. With companies like Ayn,Ayaneo and even the ROG Ally. Nintendo will have to put out something amazing. But if they just develop software for these systems, they would make a killing. Which they won't because it's nintendo and they are greedy.

Nice coverage! I'm surprised it took 3 whole days for the almighty algorithm to recommend this to me!
Thank you! and I'm not surprised the algorithm hates me i swear lol 🤣
@@Jetter06 I do hope the your videos are put more into the spotlight from now on! And thank you for providing the sources so succinctly!

Even the Wii U outsold the Dreamcast. If Nintendo was going to die any time it would have been then.
This should have way more views
very cool

This was a well made video.
Hey! I sent you an email the other day with a Steam key of my roguelike game. It might have ended up in your junk mail :)
