I'm probably one of the few that really likes the design of the car, especially the rear. Its just long enough to not look like a hatchback. Reminds me of my CTS wagon.
I love this mix of design. A bit of hatch, wagon and coupe is a good kind of crossover. Check the new Hyundai i30n fastback for a great example of this trend.
Literally 8 hours ago I was disappointed to see that the only videos on this car were Kia dealership walk around videos....and then I wake up to this, killing it guys!
The is my favorite non-premium car review from you guys in a long time! Love the collab with Sketch Monkey, love the double box test, and the little things like showing it driving in reverse, the piped in sound, and even dropping the coffee cup on the cup holder test. Shows that you guys care about staying creative and not afraid to try new stuff and that's super cool, keep it up!
Elgoog Ssie obviously they don’t edit anything, I mean duuuh, they just throw all the footage on the computer and it magically comes together like this... They literally said they had already done the box test but Jakub said to just put it in again, it was more for fun.
@Mark Nichollsthe rear end of the cerato/forte 5 hatch just looks awful, compared to the whole Kia ceed family. Just google it and it's not necessary to get foul-mouthed and to insult other people just because of their opinion.
Its depressing that this model didn't make it to the US. It's almost exactly what I've been looking for. It also sucks that North America in general doesn't get wagons these days. The ProCeed in Europe is essentially a Forte wagon and I think it looks awesome.
These real people car reviews are the best ones! I think you guys should do a large-scale comparison between all cars like this at the same time. Make the video 30+ minutes long and I'd be happy to watch a current 2019/20 comparison between all of them. A lot of your viewers are in the market, like myself.
Man, I love this video. The small little moments like the double box test, dropping the coffee cup into the cup holders, the hot diggity dog made this review much more entertaining compared to some of the more recent ones. Thanks guys!
Go KIA!! I’m glad their making fastbacks! So tired of every vehicle manufacturer ditching cars for bloody SUVs!! Love the looks, both inside and out! 2:49 - also awesome job with the photoshopping skills!
I got one recently also and it's great! I opted for the 7 speed dual clutch since my wife drives it on occasion but it's still very sporty when you want it to be.
I just picked up a used 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Sport w/ 15k miles and really love it. I cross shopped w/ Mazda6, Mazda3, GTI and Forte GT. Overall I liked everything I drove but I couldn't justify the $ of buying something new and the value of the Elantra GT was great compared to the Mazda's and GTI. Add in the remaining warranty and I feel it was a win!
The european vesion (called Ceed Proceed GT) looks a lot better. In europe we call them "Shooting Brakes" and should present a sporty wagon with less space - comparible to the SUV Coupes.
I got a 2020 Forte GT sedan. I’m got a 6 speed manual (USA). Like the looks of the sedan over the 5 door looks. Fun car to drive. Great value for the money.
I like that they now sell a version with a 6 speed single clutch - and instead of a computer handling the shift, there is an extra pedal and the driver controls it!
Holy.. I currently drive a Civic (and will always love Honda) but Kia has been stepping it UP lately. I wouldn't mind having one of these or the upcoming Optima.
I own a Forte 5 GT Limited, I tested the Civic Sport Touring and the Entrant GT N-Line and chose this due to the more space in the hatch for my dog. The Forte 5 GT handed better than the civic and was more fun to drive in an Auto. The GT N-Line was fun, but has a much smaller trunk space. All in all I am loving this car, it is great in the snow and on dry days it fun to drive on some twisty roads. I am looking forward to the summer when I can get the 18"s on it.
I bought this car (2021 version with manual transmission) about 10 months ago. Love it! Its our family of four car. With our two teenage boys we have no trouble packing up everything we need and hitting the road for vacation in it with all our stuff. over 6ft never an issue with head and leg room front or back. Personal I don't get SUVs but that's just my opinion, to each is own. For me ... no SUVs and no Auto trans ever so long as there are practical manual options out there. Love all the practical storage space in its fastback trunk. The controversial rear end design as commented on in this video actually lends the car to have a huge load floor in back way better than any traditional hatchback out there with more storage under the floor! Also love that I get 201hp running 87 octane as opposed to other cars in this class requiring premium fuel in their similar power rated motors. The manual trans final drive is too short though in this car pulling too many revs when cruising at high speed however this short final drive make for the car being quick getting to that speed. Despite the gearing car actually gets good fuel economy. Also love that I never see another car like mine on the road .. ever ... and the exclusivity also drew me to this car like with my Nissan NX2000 I had when I was a kid, never saw another one.
Ive owned one in Australia for 6 months - cost $32k AUD which is about 15k cheaper then a GTI or the next best thing. Value wise it was no question. the suspension 'softens up' after about 2000km but still handles like its on rails. Surprised you didnt mention the heated and cooled seats.... dunno what id do without them....
Interesting, I was expecting this to be a twin of the Elantra GT N Line, or at least have the same dimensions, but it's clearly not the case. The interior is similar, but the Forte5 is 7 inches longer and has less ground clearance. And it's not available in manual.
I got the sedan version just last week and am loving it! I had originally planned on getting the Elantra GT Nline based on your review but didn't really want to drive out of town for one, plus the Forte was a bit cheaper anyway. And we don't have the hatch here yet =(
Great shoutout to sketchmonkey! Subscriber to both! We have the Kia here in Australia badged as Cerato. Sedan model looks nicer at the rear. Has an Audi S3 look (if you squint). We don't get a sunroof though like you guys do but we have fog lights. Wish Kia just did same for all.
I picked up a used 2018 Forte Sedan for my wife as a grocery getter. It has been way better than I suspected. Really zero maintenance except oil changes. No surprises. Wouldn't the Civic hatch sport be the closest competition to this Forte 5 GT?

YAY!!!! They finally reviewed it. I bought a Cerato (Forte) GT hatch back in February but here in Australia it has been insanely discounted at $31, 990 Driveaway (But that's in AUD!!!). It's awesome! Though, I kind of like how it's not a hatchback or a wagon. It's unique, it has more space then a hatch but isn't a wagon. GTI Costs a lot more than this. Golf GTI in Australia costs $51, 000 +.... EDIT: Also the Australian spec of this doesn't pass the visor test 😠
Recently picked up a '21 Forte GT (no hatch). Car is the perfect mix. I agree with the paddles being great. Overall It's like a Supra had a baby with a 4 banger Camry. It's a dad GT... Perfect for a dad like me.
