8:05 the long fake buttons are (in Australia) for the ventilated and heated seats. On the US market you will get (for the GT version): manual transmission and sunroof. Those are really good extras. On the Ozzy market you will get: double clutch transmission only (DCT), ventilated and heated front seats, more drive modes (sport, normal, eco, smart), Dual auto A/C, fully electric driver seat, bigger LCD screen between the main gauges, JBL sound system with 8 speakers. Oh and it is called Cerato GT not Forte GT. I am planning to buy the hatch version for myself. Sad thing that no manual option.
Raiti's Rides nah. You gotta live with it every day changing gears is a pain in the arse. I had a skoda fabia RS, muttered about it not being manual for about 5 minutes. Then realised the dsg was far superior. I cant change gears that fast. I can almost change gears that smooth, but i spend a lot of time in traffic and manual is a pain in the arse. The dsg had 4 modes. Leave it in D. Use the tiptronic. Use the paddles. Stick it in sport. Manual has 1. And if youre tired, irritable, not interested, a manual is a pain in the arse. Basically not everyone wants a manual. Most dont. Kia built the pro-cee'd GT manual only. Noone bought it. Apparently a great car, but nope. They sold lots of Kia cerato koups in auto with the 1.6 turbo. No proceeds.
@@sugarnads Weirdly recently I have seen quite a few Pro-Cee'd GT's (the 2014ish ones not the new shooting brake ones). Amazing looking car at the front for it's time. Interior was super nice too. Sad it didn't sell too well.

@@wbwayne8887: Damn it dude, why do automakers look down on enthusiasts or manual drivers and think that all we care is just a manual transmission gearbox.
Just picked up my GT in Snow White Pearl yesterday and I absolutely love it! Plenty of room for the family and the turbo 1.6 is very strong. Also, it drives and rides really well for just commuting. Stereo sounds great, and it's just the six speaker set up. Definitely worth a look if you want a fun, nicely styled sedan that won't break the bank. Your review got me into the dealership to check it out, thank you!
I own a Kia forte EX and those blank buttons are for the Heated/cooled seats and for the heated steering wheel. Here in Canada, we get heated steering wheel and heated seats standard.
Glad to see you get to this! Re the fake buttons -- Kia offers a GT2 package that includes heated and cooled seats (as well as leatherette seats and adaptive cruise). But the GT2 package is only available if you get the DCT. Because people who drive manuals don't like nice things. But it's a near thing between the Forte and the Civic Si.
Actually, it's not a question of those who prefer a manual transmission not liking "nice things." It's the fact that manufacturers (and especially dealers) don't want unsold MT vehicles sitting for extended periods on their lots. And if dealers are going to put up with additional flooring charges for unsold vehicles, they don't want those vehicles to be fully loaded top trim units that are eventually sold at higher discounts.
@@stephenhendricks103 Sorry, I forgot to include the sarcasm font. I was using a common expression in pro-manual articles. I do understand the logic you present, and I'm actually pleasantly surprised that a manual was created at all -- unlike Hyundai, which has stopped making a manual available on the Elantra Sport. But this IS the sport model of the Forte, mainly oriented towards enthusiasts. You can be an enthusiast who likes driving stick and still want a well-equipped car. Mazda recognized that in the new Mazda3 hatchback offered in the top trim with stick, Honda has with the 2020 Sport Touring hatchback, and VW has in the GTI/GLI. Since Kia is only offering a single trim with MT, there's no reason why that single trim could not have been equipped as well as the DCT trim is. Which was my main point, lost in the brevity. Like I said, it's a near thing with the Si, but the 2020 Si (including adaptive cruise, heated seats, and dual-zone climate all standard) is better equipped.
Kia now has some really attractive vehicles with amazing value... Stinger, Telluride, K900 and now this. Kia should really think about bringing Seltos to the US market, as it’d solidify its lineup even further. The only design that needs a total overhaul in their lineup is the Sportage... hate the puffer-fish front end.
WB Wayne Yes, Mazda certainly makes great cars and some of them have a premium feeling interior with great driving dynamics... but they don’t offer value for money and they also need to improve their infotainment system.
Great review as always Joe. I am a local boy and your videos are really helping me to narrow down on the type of new car I am going to get. I am super impressed by the KIA and Hyundai line of cars that have been on your channel. It shows that you can have a well equipped turbo charged small car that does not let go of the creature comforts that you desire. Once I decide on my new car rest assured I will be looking to purchase from a dealer that supports your channel and I will be sure to let them know I am there because of you exposing me to the dealership and brand. One thing you may want to consider is doing a tech video for the infotainment the car brands. Infotainment/stereo is a big part of the driving experience and having a reference video to go to for the overall options in a brands infotainment could be a huge asset and would give you a chance at more views. Thanks Joe!
I keep hearing reviewers calling this a subcompact. I own a new Forte and I was under the impression that the Rio was the Subcompact and the Forte was compact. Who’s who .
The Forte is in the compact category class. Not sure why he kept saying that. The Forte has a car length of 183 inches which is at the bigger end of the compact class.
I bought a 2020 KIA Forte GT in Horizon Blue. I love the car fun to drive. Great price and build quality. And the options at that price wow. If your in the market for a new car seriously check it out. Great video I really enjoy watching you do videos on lower price cars.
@@royjerm33 Why does KIA have such a low resale value compared to Toyota? 9 Answers John Filmore John Filmore Answered Aug 3 I owned 2 Kias, a 2013 Soul and a 2016 Forte, both bought near new. My next vehicle was a 2010 Toyota Prius with 100,000 miles. I think I can answer this. Kia checks all the “value-for-money" boxes for features: lowest price to get adaptive cruise control, radar, GoogleCarPlay , etc, if a supplier makes it they drop it in. Brand new, Kia interiors look as good as Toyota, Honda or Ford, you couldnt tell them apart. Modern drivetrains across models are about as reliable, and Kias will run to 100,000 miles with few troubles. But Kia goes for absolute lowest cost suppliers, I have never seen an interior with plastic parts that gouged and scratched as readily as my 2 kias. That's why virtually every Kia interior older than 7 years looks like absolute garbage with door panels coming off, broken interior door handles, etc. And the PAINT I dont think you can call it paint. That Kia Soul would seemingly chip down to bare metal just by looking at it. Yes bare metal, and that spot would rust within days. Most cars have a properly primed paint job and when the paint chips you see primer underneath, I doubt Kia has ever heard of paint primer. So the drivetrain was reliable, but Kia/Hyundai mpg…how does a 2 liter 4-cylinder Kia Soul get 19mpg driven slowly, and 13mpg driven aggressively? Yes 13mpg. The Kia Forte got 23mpg drovencarefully, 19 mpg driven aggressively. Then I traded the last one in for the Toyota Prius, the interior looked like new, few scratches and no gouges like the Kia, Prius paint isnt BMW good but remarkably resilient. And mileage is incomparable. I now have a Honda CRV, fit and finish are incomparable to the cheap garbage Kia and Hyundai use, they are great when new, but you will never see a 10 year old Kia with an interior that doesnt look like garbage. You will see plenty of 20 year old Toyotas, Hondas and Fords with good interiors. 223k views · View Upvoters · View Sharers
Honda needs to think about putting a dct in the si because not everyone knows how to drive manuals and they lose alot of profit not catering to multiple types of drivers .

I just got one yesterday its amazing looks so much better in person and is so damn fun to drive but that car don't have heated seats that's what the extra buttons our for next to the stick shift
Hey Joe, I watched all your videos, they're awesome One thing, everytime you talk about the dash and interior, can you mount the camera inside pointing directly at it rather than have your camerman stands outside and record from an angle. It's kinda tough to see the whole picture when everything is slanted. Thank you sir
HATCHBACKS RULE; the DECK LID on cars today is so small, it's more like a mail slot. Additionally, on almost all cars today, the rear end has been shortened so much, you might as well make most of them a hatchback. Certainly a vehicle leaning toward performance and younger buyers. PLUS you will gain a wiper as well. If you have ever owned a HATCHBACK, then you know what I am referring to. One more comment, KIA should have put a 2.0 liter Turbo in this car with 250 HP.
No lie this was a thought in my mind. I currently own a 2017 forte and it has more than surprised me with the things I've done in it, including sand drifting, offroading, high mph endurance runs, some odd races, cross country travel etc, very comfortable car in canyon runs etc.
I just got one of these. Chassis and Suspension is SOLID. Was driving a 15 Audi S3 before but got rear ended and lost it. Due to timing decided to get me this one. It’s not an S3 but this car is pretty fun. The only thing I miss the most is the AWD but for the price it was a no brainer.
Joe, love your reviews, great job as always. So if you're making a decision today, you buying the 2020 Kia Forte GT 6 speed manual or 2020 Honda Civic SI?
Just picked one up...it's surprisingly grounded and the gates are great, the throws are medium like you said, but I'd say the clutch connects later than mid...very user friendly. The interior is killer, for the price, I really can't believe it. Harman Kardon system is wicked
Crazy thing is I know the Si is crazy good, Accord Sport while we're at it, but I wouldn't want to settle for anything not the Type R from Honda, but it's out of my range of obtainable but for some reason, this Kia Forte GT has me scared to Test drive as I'll probably sign loan or lease papers if it's as fun a drive as it seems
In Australia we get a slightly different mix: the blank buttons you refer to on the center console contain cooling and heating via perforated FULL leather-like seats (no cloth insert). Also, we have dual climate control. BUT, we don't have a sunroof or manual transmission. Also in Oz we have the hatch version (I have one). The DCT is a wonderful transmission. Smooth as silk. Granted, for those who want the manual, here in Oz, the only option for this drivetrain is the Elantra GT. Still, the styling and practicality of the hatch is.a winner for me.
Love your videos bro keep it up. One thing about the missing buttons next to he shifter ..they are where the heated and cooled seat buttons would go. For the driver and passenger. I also believe only the forte gt2 package not the gt1 package get them.
In canada the seats look better all leatherette with red stitching, we got dual climate controls, the buttons on the side of the shifter in canada is used for the heated seats and steering wheel for our winters ;) We don't have manual transmission (only auto with paddleshift) and no fogs here :( I sell Kias and we have a nice Forte GT in the showroom that gets a lot of attention!
No doubt, the Honda Civic Si is the sharper, more fun, and faster car. 🤙 The Kia Forte GT and Hyundai Elantra Sport differentiate themselves by offering optional leather seats and automatic transmission options to folks who can’t drive manual competently.
Price is right. The warranty is top notch. And it's a great alternative. Definitely deserves to be on the Shopping list if you are looking at a Corolla XSE
I recently purchased a brand new KIA FORTE GT2. Let me start by saying this is the 6th KIA product that I have owned. I think KIA has made a great product, but has really missed the mark with customer service and the Apple/Android car play. My Forte GT with the 2 package was a brand new car. After 3 days, I had a major electrical issues with my Forte. With only 300 miles on the car, every warning light and safety systems check came on . The lane departure system also started to attempt to steer the car on its own.The dealer had the car flat bedded back to the dealership and provided a loaner. This was greatly appreciated. My calls to Kia customer service were useless. All you get is a KIA representative taking my info and telling me they would get back to me in a few days. The KIA reps only are able to read off a canned script. I would think if you purchased a brand new car and the car was faulty, KIA would go out of their way to make it right. It took KIA factory reps a week to diagnose and replace an electronic control unit. Let's talk about Apple/Android car play. KIA at one time had one of the best interface media and navigation systems on the market. It was extremely fast and easy to use. In order to use Apple/Android Car play you need to have it plugged into a cable in order to project your phone onto the screen and also to make calls. Let me repeat that, Apple car play needs a cable to plug into a usb port in order for it to work. That is absurd. Any car that I have owned you never needed a cable to plug the phone into in order to use bluetooth for voice recognition. Apple car play is an incredible cumbersome system. I find myself having to pull over to use Google maps and to list the destination. Once the mapping is on the screen, any calls you may receive will remove the navigation. If your phone screen saver activates, you lose everything that is on the screen. If texts come in, it is virtually impossible to have them read to you. It is a huge disappointment. How KIA chose this over their old system is beyond me. Obviously a cost cutting measure. Imagine for over 10 years bluetooth never required you to plug a phone into a cable. Every other car I have owned since 2010 I was able to access my phone wirelessly and easily. There is actually an accessory for $159 dollars making the system wireless. How did Apple get their hands into KIA and basically ruined one of the best media systems on the market is beyond me. The things I like about the Forte GT: The interior is well planned. The leather seats are very comfortable. I do love the styling of the car along with the 18 inch wheels. The Forte handles great with the multi link suspension. It has a huge trunk for a compact car. Gas mileage is excellent for mixed driving 34mpg. However, If I knew of how poorly Apple car play works and poor KIA Factory customer service I probably would have passed on the Forte.

Just bought the Kia Forte GT yesterday. Nice car and love the six speed. Kia has good reliability and a great price. I almost bought a Corolla, but the performance of the Kia is much more enjoyable. I have had multiple manuals and many had issues going from 2-3, thought it was just me.
Cleaner look, better HP to weight ratio, better torque plus torque to weight ratio, ventalated seat option (does the honda have that? not actually sure if thats a check to Kia or a draw), and most importantly...... no CVT. Kia has a winner here. If I was 25 years younger looking for a sub 25k this may be my choice. I think it would be higher than the civic si.
I’d take any Kia Forte, Hyundai Elantra, and Honda Civic over the boring unreliable Nissan Sentra, Chevy Cruz, Mazda mazda3, and Volkswagon Jetta. Clean value, good warranty, and exciting engine horsepower with optional Automatic and Manual transmissions make this car a great choice. Great review Joe Raiti, I was glad to see the Kia Forte GT picking up where the old SX left off at when it comes to competing with the Hyundai Elantra Sport and Honda Civic Si in the 200+ hp fast compact sedan segment.
The Mazda 3 and Mazda in general is definitely not unreliable. See the latest 2019 consumer reports ratings. They are ranked number 4 in reliability out of all manufacturers. With the exception of the CX3, every model in their lineup is also a CR reccomended model.
WB Wayne www.reddit.com/r/mazda3/comments/bu5bze/glass_rear_mirror_insert_fell_completely_out_in/ www.consumerreports.org/car-recalls-defects/mazda3-recalled-because-rearview-mirrors-could-fall-off/ I’d rather not have a car with falling apart rear view mirrors from a car brand that cheats out on adhesives and is still going through some rust issues. Ask me how I know, my friend owns a new Mazda mazda 3 hatchback.
Another great video. Wonderful to see reviews of everyday cars for everyday people. Too many sites doing exotic cars that no one will ever drive. Keep up the good work.
@@wbwayne8887 Yeah, I was surprised to see a sunroof in this 6sp cause base GT with DCT doesn't have it, you have to go to GT2 package (test drove GT DCT the other day).
I like the looks of this sedan vs the Civic Si. That said, does the Kia have limited slip? Are the headlights LED? The Kia is cheaper by about a grand, but the Civic has adaptive damping suspension, weighs less (I think), a bit more power and better advertised fuel mileage. And has a better manual, shorter throws. If I was in the market for a sedan, I'd go with the Kia. The Civic sedan is hideous looking. If I wanted a coupe, Civic Si for the win. Both cars are excellent. Great review!!!
The civic coupe is the only decent looking civic. But the Civic is known for its rev hang and with the DCT is probably is faster than the Civic from 0-60.
I was building one on their website yesterday and found out you can’t get a manual with a GT2 package🤦🏻♂️. I seriously hate that automakers stiff manual drivers. I absolutely HATE automatics. Still, Kia did a damn nice job on this car and it looks WAY better than a Civic Si. I don’t know wtf Honda was thinking with that design! Mazda also just announced a few weeks ago that they’re putting their 2.5T motor in the 2021 Mazda3! I hope it’s available in the hatch model and they BETTER make some with the manual!! I believe it’s 250hp and 320lb-ft of torque! A serious Golf R contender! I have my eyes on that car!
Honda definitely makes the better car with the Honda Civic Si as a sporty manual transmission car; however, if you need leather seats from the factory or an automatic transmission, the Kia Forte GT and Hyundai Elantra Sport are worth a look. You could probably get a good dealer discount off too with some good haggling. 😂
I test drove the 6spd MT. The only surprise was that at 70-75 in 6th gear it was high on the Rpms. It had a bit of torque steer when you let the hammer fall.
Global Appeal no he’s not... Luc Donckerwolke, former designer for both Bentley, Audi and Lamborghini, has succeeded Peter Schreyer as the lead designer for both Hyundai and Kia.
The blank buttons on the console are replaced by heated/cooled seat buttons on the GT2 option package only available on the DCT Forte GT. It adds such niceties as dual climate control also. Nothing says low rent more than those blank buttons, and is a constant reminder that you didn't purchase the top trim model. The base DCT model is actually cheaper than the manual version, but the manual has a little more in the way of standard equipment. I wish an lsd was included, like is standard on the Civic Si. I do like the subtle black rear lip spoiler in comparison to the rear wing on the Civic Si sedan. Overall I like the Forte GT more than it's platform mate, the Elantra Sport. The MMC for 2019 has ruined the Elantra imo. Oh yeah, props to Tom, he does a masterful job, and great review Joe. Thank you.
Thanks for this!! I started researching this one after this video.... and I think I am going to get my daughter the EX Launch Edition! It has EVERYTHING... and will be so much fun for a GREAT price. Tons of safety features and Tech to boot!! Terrific MPG also for a younger person. IF I buy the car, she has to pay for the gas and insurance (that's the deal)
kia forte gt and hyundai elantra sport are the best values that u can buy in the market right now. I have the elantra spot same design as this and its amazing.
I have the GT with GT2 package, those buttons at 8:09 are for heated/cooled driver and passenger seats and drive mode. Oddly enough though I still have one blank button space.
Actually getting better gas mileage then quoted at 5:32. I've noticed for some strange reason Sport mode is giving me the best mpg (33.8mpg) out of all three modes somehow (Normal, Sport, Smart).
If you are looking to buy this car and the auto dual climate at 7:45 is a deal breaker, shop around because some are coming with it, seems to be a mistake from factory, I put in a case to KIA about mine.
At 11:47 also comes with an auto open feature. If you car has been locked for ~30 seconds, you can stand behind the trunk it will start to beep and then automatically open for you while keeping the car doors still locked.
What's weird is that dual zone is a $200 option based on some of the window stickers I've been seeing. However if you go on Kia's online configurator, there's no mention of that.
Great review Joe! If I was in the market for a car similar to this then I would probably just splurge with the Veloster N for a few grand more. And a few grand less, the Veloster R-Spec Turbo seems to be a more entertaining choice. Who needs a fourth door! ;)
The flat bottom steering wheel with the contrast stitching with partial perforated leather is spot on. Adding red stitching across the top of the dash trim and gauge cluster cowl would have been a plus. The lack of any USB ports in the rear seat area is just cheap and stupid. I certainly prefer this car over the Civic.

Thanks for that great info Steve! That is sad about no manual option.

Anthony_evo08 thanks for sharing that great info.
@Barnabas Kim The seats are an option but the heated steering wheel isn't in the US.
Thanks for the extra info!
at least it isn’t a cvt
@@Boomtendo4tw
My sentiments exactly.
You are so very right! They are really upping their game!
I actually love the look of the Sportage... Very Porsche like in the front now... 😁
Mazda does too, they seldom get the public recognition they deserve though.

Thanks Joe!

I owned 2 Kias, a 2013 Soul and a 2016 Forte, both bought near new.

STFU
No lie this was a thought in my mind. I currently own a 2017 forte and it has more than surprised me with the things I've done in it, including sand drifting, offroading, high mph endurance runs, some odd races, cross country travel etc, very comfortable car in canyon runs etc.
Joe. You need to allow some fake vent styling. As long as those vents are small.
I am willing to compromise.

Just picked one up...it's surprisingly grounded and the gates are great, the throws are medium like you said, but I'd say the clutch connects later than mid...very user friendly. The interior is killer, for the price, I really can't believe it. Harman Kardon system is wicked
I’m an Honda fanboy and, I’m considering this over the SI. I think it looks better inside and out and, could get a better offer in a dealer.

I am so sorry to hear about those issues.

Spenser Hawk no LSD which it should have. You hit all the main points perfectly! It’s a tough category.
The civic coupe is the only decent looking civic. But the Civic is known for its rev hang and with the DCT is probably is faster than the Civic from 0-60.

I had a 01 Kia Sephia, such a huge improvement from Kia you would never guess this car would be from the same company as that car.
I totally agree with you!
My 2019 Forte has dual zone and it’s just the LXS
James Smith thanks for sharing that info!😊👍🏻
even the FE has auto A/C on the 2019. Strange why they went this route.
You can get the GT2 package which comes with more. The trim lines go like this: GT line, GT, and GT2
@James Smith how's your 2019 Forte, any issues?
that's a nice car and its good to see how nice and how good the kia gt proforms.Great style. I love it.
Thank you.
WB Wayne I think you hit the nail on the head! Thanks for sharing your great thoughts!
You are so very welcome!
kia forte gt and hyundai elantra sport are the best values that u can buy in the market right now.
Thanks for that extra info!
Great review Joe! If I was in the market for a car similar to this then I would probably just splurge with the Veloster N for a few grand more. And a few grand less, the Veloster R-Spec Turbo seems to be a more entertaining choice. Who needs a fourth door! ;)
Yeah I agree with you I would either buy a veloster n if I wanted a hatch or buy a Jetta gli if I wanted a sedan
That is a very good point Jason!
I would go Veloster N!
Veloster N here too. #Dieselgate would ensure I would never but a Jetta GLI or any VW for that matter.
@@wbwayne8887 Yeah, I know what you mean. After exploding Pintos and "unsafe at any speed" Corvairs, I'd never buy a Ford or Chevy.
I totally agree with you Michael!
Kia always bringing unique designs.
So very true!
Nice, no bump in the middle well done Joe👍💪😎
I would rather get the civic si but it’s always nice to have choices
Gabriel Altland you are so very right!
I think the Kia Forte GT is classified as a Compact. They have the Soul GT-Line with the same 1.6 turbo, and that consider their subcompact.
Terrance Moore you are 💯 right. I tripped over my thoughts!
That's a lot of equipment for $24,000.
marlon alston you are so very right!
Excellent video! Hey Joe (no, not the Hendrix song, lol!) I really like your style, bro....calm and concise but with good energy and very detailed. Keep 'em
coming...I just subbed.
Hy Blaine! Thank you for joining the Raiti's Rides family! I know exactly what Hendrix song you are talking about. Thanks for the compliments and your support!
Here, just take my money :-)
I am so glad that you like thsi one.
I will take one in grey with of course a manual! No other way to drive! Happy New Year Raiti's Riders!
“Drivers side of the business end”.... I thought the drivers side was the “business end”. 🤔 #HardArmrestZonk
I never know where I am going with it! LOL
I'm currently in the market for 2 cars. A sport car and a 4 door compact. At the top of my list is a GT350 (Vet is a close 2nd) and a Forte GT (Sonata Sport is in distance 2nd). What a perfect combo. Love the review. Thanks. Triple.
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
Just bought one just like that.
Congrats Brent!
