I have been following you along our IKEA kitchen build! We seriously couldn’t have done it without your tips and tricks. Thanks so much for sharing all your skills and talents with the public! Marriages have been saved in renovations because of it 😉
Brother, I can not stress how valuable you've been to me these past few days. I installed my first IKEA kitchen without a glitch. I viewed your entire series on the install and all other vids on tips and tricks and I have to say, if it wasn't for you, I would be stressing and delayed trying to figure this whole thing out. I'm just wrapping up the install and it has come out beautifully. I'm very impressed of the IKEA quality. I do appreciate you taking the time to carefully explain every detail and get this information out. I'm a lifelong fan of yours now!
Watched lots of videos for the best tip and came across yours. has to be the best out there. Ended up fitting like a pro. Thank you for making it so easy and straightforward. 👍
Nice and simple instruction, thank you very much! Will be checking out your other videos. I'm a simple DIYer who gets in over my head with great frequency so I appreciate an easy to follow video
That was excellent! My sis and I retired together... we're building from the ground up. Right now I'm working on kitchen cabinets. I really don't want to drive an hour each way to the nearest building supply store to buy a plastic jig for door and drawer hardware installation. This grandma DIY-er thanks you!
That works too! Good call. Hey question for you ? If you found this video valuable would you mind helping me by sharing a link with friends or on social media? Once you do follow the instructions below. Reply to this comment “DONE” then I’ll add you to a list to draw for some free Up To Kode swag. Thank you in advance!
I was curious about putting some handles on our bedroom drawers and this is the best DIY gig I’ve seen & it worked seamlessly! Great work Kody & thanks for sharing!
The doors only jig could be improved by putting another stop to catch against the bottom of the door instead of having to manually hold it flush. It would still be usable for left and right hand doors as well because you could just flip it over.
Awesome tip man, I have a bit of dexterity issues so I added a piece under it so I can apply upward pressure vs holding it flush. But definitely could not have done it with you. Ty
Kody: another good video, BUT we absolutely love the big stuff: ICF, framing, drywall, plumbing, etc.. There's good reason your drywall video got over 2 million views...we loved it and want more! That's how I found you. You see, everyone is trying to (or dreaming of) building their own castle. Your videos help us do that. Just trying to help. Thanks for all your videos. :-)
I appreciate the feedback. My next big series is going through every aspect of ICF. It will probably take me a year and over 40 videos in mind as of right now.
Great videos very helpful and open minded I wonder how to install kitchen sink faucet when the drilling holes end up hitting on partial top of the base sink cabinet metal bracket? Thank you 👍🏻
I will but it won’t be anytime soon unfortunately. I have some other video series coming up. But next time I do a kitchen I’ll do a lighting one. Thanks for the input!! I really appreciate the feedback
@@uptokode I’m sorry, I disagree. I would like you to show it. I say this because you often have to put pressure on to get through the door fabric. In addition, occasionally you are correct that the screw covers the scar. But out of 10 doors. I reckon at least 2 will have a bigger scar than the screw head, and anyway. You were showing us how to do it. But you only showed us half the job. Do another showing 6 or 7 cupboards or drawers please. I shall happily apologise if you prove me wrong………..that’s how confident I am that I am correct!
Thanks for your affirmation, which there was no need for. Oh you cheeky thing you were just leeching off his upload! Ugh! Gosh Im so slow. Who else got that. Golly gosh! Only in America eh! Jeez!
99% of the time it won't be a problem, but I installed a kitchen a few months ago where some of the door rails were different sizes. Some weird cabinets made in Turkey.
Instead of the risk of messing up the math, you could take the hardware and use cardboard or thick card stock and bunch holes through where the exact holes are and then transfer to the board. This is what I do. It makes life easier and you don't have to worry about keeping a steady hand when measuring or making a mistake with drilling the holes in your template.
As a contractor I don’t understand why you don’t go and spend $50.00 at most for a real door hardware jig! Every job will be set up different and you go and make jigs for every different setup. What a waste of time and money! Buy a real jig and it will pay for itself on the first job!
@TSchuler ("I watched untill you said not using metric was crazy") LOL, your Military sure as hell uses Metric! Hahah.. Auto industry, Semi-Conductors too! Less we mention how 'lost' scientists would be if they had only US customary system to use! There are ONLY 3 countries on the planet that don't use metric for literally everything,..The United States, Liberia and Myanmar :P What does that tell you? Seriously, why WOULDN'T anyone want to use a system that allows everything to be divisible by 10, 100 or 1000! LOL.
@@uptokode I'm 67 years old this year and we(USA folks) were "promised" the metric system when I was in the FIRST GRADE !!! Same with Middle East peace, women's shoes that fit, synchronized traffic lights, campaign finance reform, flying cars... Oh, well...

Very good! This is fantastic. Please email me finished photos and I’ll add you to my list of people to include in our fan feature film coming up soon.
You are a god of Ikea kitchen cabinets. Hands down. Greetings from Ontario

Glad to be of assistance!
Made mine from cardboard, worked great! I stapled bits of scrap wood for the stops

Great work Kody & thanks for sharing!
Pro tip: put a piece of masking tape at center of drawer then use a fine sharpy to mark the center. I install builders hardware almost every day
👍
Thanks for the tip
Also it makes sense to get a ready to go jig from amazon or ebay. Costs pennies and you can always reuse it
Very good video. Thanks for the clear explanation
You’re welcome!
Nice. Super practical! I can use this.
That’s what I like to hear
Did this today, worked perfectly and saved a lot of time. Thanks for sharing.

did you drill the holes on your drill press to make sure they are perpendicular?
Free hand when drilling for cabinet pulls
Great tips. I'll put them to use soon on installing my bathroom pulls. Thanks/
Excellent
Great idea
It’s really effective and easy to do.
Any advice on how to properly size pull lengths with different height or width cabinets ?
Thanks, Gerry from San Diego, CA

Could you guys PLEASE do a video on the IKEA cabinet lighting installation?

Kody Horvey Sounds great! We are very appreciative of all your videos. 😁
Can I just say how much I love the idiot proofing because you really never know when you are going to be an idiot next.
Awesome
Works great and it’s fast and easy to set up the jig
THANK YOUI
You're welcome!
Great tip! Thanks
Thank you for watching
You did not show the inside of the drawer where facia can peel off as the drill bit comes through. How do you prevent that happening?
I didn’t show that. You can try taping the inside. The screws will cover the blemish. Also use low pressure when drilling. Cheers

Solution for you… clamp a piece of plywood to the backside of the door or drawer front. Zero blow outs, I promise.
I like your confidence by the way!!
Great video! Thats exactly how i would do it. KEEP IT UP
Thank you!

The new trend is to install hardware much higher like you first had it. Not a fan but it is the new updated trend.
Nice

Do what works for you. If you have a way that is effective then that’s all you need.
Cardboard makes an awful template
Steve C she uses the cardboard to make a wood template.
lol, dude, have you heard of a Hettich or any other template?
Or just buy an adjustable jig from Amazon for $12. Good for doors and drawers
I'll never understand why you don't use metric. So much easier.
Thanks a wack load.
😂
Do a couple joints and watch this. Your brain will be doing backflips.
The main thing is if you don't use a gig , you will mess up a door front

Measure in metric and you will almost certainly find the growers / doors are exact measurements ( 500mm / 600mm etc ), sorry, America!
Cabinet drawer hardware is too high! 👎🏻
Your life is so hard. Need to go metric on the measurements.
You’re right metric is far easier.
Why not make it simpler and buy a jig?
I watched untill you said not using metric was crazy
I can’t remember what I said but metric is actually way easier ! Just so used to the hard way that switching would be crazy.
He is actually right about his comment on the metric system. It is so much easier to use and there's less chance to mess up the measurements.
