      @Mayara & Omar & Friends Have you used a Pentium 4 in the modern day? A low power i3 is several times stronger than a P4 with just one of their cores.

    • @dankrakes4648
      @dankrakes4648 3 роки тому

      @Mayara & Omar & Friends Are you using a hard drive instead of an SSD by any chance? That may be why your device is so slow. If you switch to an SSD it should be much faster.
      From what I can tell you have a 4th gen i3, so if you have at least 4gb of ram it should work fine if you've got an SSD. The integrated GPU is indeed crap and you can't do anything about it though.

    • @yukinagato1573

    Great review! It's always good to see these older Windows XP and earlier based laptops get a second life with more retro based tasks, as some pieces of software simply will not run on anything newer.
    Also, which SSD bracket do you recommend for older IDE hard drives? I have a few IDE hard drives that I might want to convert to SSD so it might come in useful to buy some laptop IDE to SSD converters (better than picking up used IDE hard drives, and IDE to SATA will not fit).

    Back in the days, I once repaired a laptop from a customer which had a 3.5 inch hard drive internally from the factory. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the laptop and can't find anything about it on the internet, but this thing was massive and heavy and got almost 100 ° C under load. maybe someone of you knows it and and and hopefully one day we can see it here 😃 it was around 2010 but the laptop was a few years older maybe ~2005-2008

    My dad had one of these. I have a memory of me using it when i wasn't supposed to, accidently moving somethings position in the Windows XP Quick access, not knowing how i did it and absolutely panicking that he was going to find out.

    I have a slightly older HP Compaq nx9000 with a Celeron 2.4 in it. Just for something different I put OS/2 (eComStation) on it and somehow managed to get all the drivers working.

    Looks nice for 2004 standards. Probably a good number of ports for expansion.

    That CPU is the best Socket 478 Pentium 4 there is, very nice for a pre-2004 gaming build.

    I got a 2004 Acer Travelmate ..its a Pentium 4 ..has TFT monitor ..its thick and weighs a lot too ..but frankly
    i love it ..think i paid £17 off E Bay ..compared to todays lap tops ..these are solid beasts . Somehow you
    get attracted to older machines nobody wants ..i then bought an Asus 8100 for just £1 in good nick !
