Im in San Antonio, Texas. Applied online for my notary & had it back in 5 days, had it notarized 2 days later. So, 7 days to be commissioned. Then another 4 days to have my stamp.
Tip: if your able to email someone on the “inside” you might be able to get your commission sooner... I was so lucky sent my application in on 11/6 and was commissioned on 11/11!
In California it's different. We have to pass our exam (which takes at least 15 business days to bet results back), get fingerprinted, get a background check and then we receive our commission. That's why she said around 3 months for California.
Yayyyy I was waiting for a new video from you! Lol just passed my exam to be commissioned & now gonna start the loan signing system course while I wait :)))
Only the fee’s for notarial acts are exempt from Self Employment taxes. Not the whole $150 unless the acts exceed. Check with a tax professional that IS Familiar with Notaries.
I was going back and forth with NNA and Biberk bc I saw in the Facebook group the same info you said but NNA said otherwise each time I talked with them so I just repurchased my NNA e and o
Yes, I have NNA E&O too. I just can't wrap my head around being sued for not dropping doc on time...I thought they just wouldn't use us again....but sue??
Hello, regarding the taxes...any notarial act such as acknowledgement and jurats, etc. are exempt from the 15.3% self employment tax. So, knowing how many notarial acts you actually do during a loan signing, depending on what your state allows for fees, are going to be tax exempt.
Dumb question. If you print two copies, one for the signer one for lender. Do you notarize both copies...? And then you would have more in your journal? Or you only actually notarize for the lenders copy?
No dumb questions here. You only notarize the copy for the lender. The copy for the signer is for their personal records, or if there's a mistake during the signing you can replace the page.
@@amandapluma lot of good information in here thanks again. Also do you have a recommendation on how much e and o someone should get for signing services.

Hi there! Thank you for being so informative! I’m in California as well and going through the Notary process. Did you ever get E&O insurance through biBERK? If so, how much coverage did you get? I’m trying to figure out how much coverage to get.
Q: What do you do if there’s a mistake made on a document (ie: puts the wrong date , the signature is illegible or something) Do you make extra copies of the documents (pages) so they can sign a fresh one (page) or is there something else that could be done? I hope that makes sense.
You usually will have 2 sets of documents, one for you to send back and a copy for the borrower to keep. if a mistake is made you just take the borrower copy and replace it :)
Kourtni Peake hi Kourtni, did you learn how to sign documents by taking a course, if not, could you detail how you learned? I work for a title company now but don’t no what I would need to know to guide the signer and properly notarize docs

Hello, I just found your channel and currently binge watching all videos. I recently received my commission in California and wanted to confirm that you don’t actually need to take a Loan Signing course, correct? It is recommended but not required? Thanks to clarify! ♥️
Yes! As long as you feel ready and you’ve learned how to sign loans. You don’t want to jump into it without learning the loan documents. You could get sued if you make a huge mistake.

Luckily I haven't had a situation where I need to scan back while I had back to back signings. I might've had that happen once but I was headed home to print again anyway.
I'm so glad you mentioned the oversaturation question. In the beginning I was worried about that too but like you said, not everyone follows through with this business.
