I definitely prefer a review after you have used the products for a little while and put them through the test. So many products out there "look" good but how will you know how they hold up until you've tested them for a while. My big gripe is that things just don't last. For example, I loved my Away luggage sets for a couple of years, but after that the wheels became really hard to deal with, especially when I had a backpack or tote on top and I had to wheel them through streets and carpeting.
Definitely want you to travel with it first because it's so helpful in making a purchase decision! I bought a July set from your videos (Light Expandable) and LOVE them!
Hi Lauren, Angela from TOM BIHN here! I'm really happy you enjoyed your Synik and that you were able to pack so much in the bag ☺ I loved the format of this video and I thought this review was super thorough. From the unboxing, the showcase of the features, the packing demo, the fit test, to the waterproof test, I was amazed! We appreciate all the love for TOM BIHN and we'll definitely take notes on making the waist strap longer. I hope you can stop by the factory soon!
I’ve had this bag for a couple of years now. This bag combined with my Away roller is all I need for a 2 week international trip for work. I can cram in my work laptop, 13” iPad Pro, and all of the other essentials that one needs ready access to whether on a plane, train, or automobile. The design of this bag is so good that I’m considering selling off several of my Filson bags. I say this as someone who has exclusively used Filson products for over 25 years - yet they have lost their way outsourcing most of their catalog. In contrast, Tom Bihn has doubled-down on US made quality products that look good and FUNCTION better. And their factory is only a ferry ride away from my house!! My only niggle is the water bottle slot can be difficult when the bag is full depending on the type of bottle used. But this is minor. Great bag!

I was absolutely gobsmacked by the thumbnail. Lauren is actually acknowledging Tom Binn (!?) and unfortunately this was not a morning to leisurely watch a 21' video.. but.. . Tom Bihn makes *travelers bags!!!!!* I have never had as much as a stitch come loose, I have never wanted for more pockets or wish for less. @@ItsTheKellys I am laughing so hard now!! .. Returning this evening I had a time to go back and watch the video a second time. Great review! For years we have laughed at Tom Bihn as their designs where nicknamed "dad's bags" but I have owned these bags for a few years now and if I had to choose just one bag to get me through the zombie apocalypse this would be the brand! Perhaps next time you're in Portland at an influencers conference you can swing by Seattle's Tom Bihn. Visiting the factory floor is really not the thing...... but you do get to feel, hands-on, all the different materials that go into the various components and configurations of their bags. I was so excited to see the title of this video, because I've been eyeing TB bags for years. Just haven't taken the plunge, but it's even more tempting now. Great job of unboxing and going through all of the pockets and accessories. Love that the back is a long trolley sleeve - perfect for keeping it secure and balanced on your spinner bag! Appreciate you mentioning the softness of the 311 bag, as I've read about that on the TB site too. Seems like a nice option to the stiff vinyl that most companies use. They make several options of straps, so you may be able to purchase a waist strap that would work for Brian. Thanks for the great review! The Synik seems like the ultimate personal item bag! And yes, would love to see more reviews of TB bags/accessories!
If you're a sturdy traveler once you take the plunge you won't regret it. It is difficult to imagine all the different materials but do your research on the site... If you live near, or ever travel through Seattle, drop by. The factory itself is not really a tour per se but the showroom has every single material and option, even when they are not in production.
18:50 laptop pocket is deliberately designed in this way to avoid the accidental slipping out of the laptop if zipper is left open. This is an excellent review as it shows the packed size of the bag. Synik 22 is a good option to be taken as a ‘personal item’ on European budget airlines (most have size limit of approx. 40x30x20 cm).
This was such a good video. I've always looked at Tom Bihn bags, but haven't seriously considered buying one until now. I was hesitant because I didn't know if the look and functionality was top notch. You showed how many features this bag has, and I'm now looking at the brand much more seriously.
I live in the Seattle area, so I was excited to see you feature some Tom Bihn products! I have some of their products and they're great. ETA: If you don't want to put the water bottle in the front pocket, you could use a caribiner through the bag's handle on top. Get a bottle with a loop on the top and put it through the caribiner to hang it off the front of the bag.
I thought of that immediately when Lauren said so! Anytime someone mentions water bottle pouches I want to proclaim from the rooftops that I have always preferred hooking a carabiner on the outside of my bag. Why would I choose to give up packing space when the water bottle is going to be in my hands most of my time anyway?!?
@@IntriguedLioness Yup! It also makes it harder to accidentally lose it if you lean over or your bag is jostled, since it's literally attached to your bag. Great minds. 😉
Funny. I just mentioned Tom Bihn in one of your other videos. I have several of their bags and the quality is without question the best. I have this bag in a limited edition model last year. I have some camera inserts and also use this bag for a camera bag. Very nice. Also always like unboxing.

Tom Bihn exclusively uses YKK zippers. The exterior zippers are usually #10 and sometimes a #8. A cable lock or small luggage lock will easily fit, and while the material is not kevlar, (I actually own a few travel on and a REI bag that is!), the material is sturdy and would definitely resist even a box cutter!
I prefer reviews after using them because that’s when you really understand the pros and cons of any given bag. However, I think all your reviews are great. Question: What do you think of the BÉIS toiletry bags with regard to the 311 rule? I like that the Dopp kit opens like the weekender but you’d have to pack your liquids in a separate see through bag. The Dopp kit might also be too big. I like the in flight essentials which looks smaller but I don’t know if it is TSA compliant with the two separate sides.
I personally have yet to find a BEIS toiletry bag that would really work with the 311 rule, or that I would want to use. The Dopp Kit is MASSIVE and I'm about to sell mine possibly. It's never been used. The in flight essentials looks okay, but its honestly just so hard and bulky. The other big cosmetics case is half the size of a carry on. I think BEIS caters a lot of overpackers, and checked bag travelers, and their toiletry items take up half of the carry ons. I personally love a toiletry bag for non liquids that is small with pockets, and a clear quart baggie sized one for liquids that isn't "hard"

That’s why I always try to do a real packing example at least. I review so many bags, and as much as I travel, I don’t always get to use them all on a trip before my weekly reviews! I do loan them out to family and friends though, if I want them tested!
Ha! Pogs and gel pens!
Were pogs ever banned in Canada from schools, or was that just a US thing? haha

I love you so much
