      It’s a way for companies to cheap out, black or grey interiors. Tan, red, beige, even a cool blue as options would be nice. At least this interior does look good.

    The traction system on the Kia looked pretty good for an SUV. Yes its not got Toyota or Land Rover level traction aids, but it would certainly be sufficient for 95% of drivers. Considering that tests have shown the Continental TerrainContact to be towards the top of the pile for road-biased mild AT tyres, it did okay. I believe this tyre also isn't snow rated with the 3PMSF sidewall marker, so again it did quite well given the conditions.

    This is very impressive 3wheel slip test. Calibration of the system was completed for 95% of drivers, so reaction of the awd system to kick in and get the car out of stuck is set with split of second of delays. Other manufacturer may set that delays a bit quicker, but outcome result is achieved, the awd system works.

    Don’t put the rollers in the concrete. We put some in at a Landrover Experience Center. They constantly filled with mud, leaves, rain, snow etc. they would fail every few months and need the bearings replacing. Your movable set look a bit more hassle to set up, but they seem to work every time.
    Another great video by the way.

    • @matthewprather7386
      @matthewprather7386 Рік тому +5

      Another reason to not mount the rollers - TFL tests a bunch of different vehicles, each with different track width and wheelbase length. Any mounting scheme would have to accommodate different spacings to line up with where a given vehicle's wheels are.

      And for the wheels without rollers, consider using thick board same height as the rollers so all 4 wheels are on even level.

    • @matthewprather7386
      @matthewprather7386 Рік тому

      @@ThisGuyRides I don't think it's that important for all four wheels to be on an even level... The test only requires the wheel on the ground to generate enough thrust to move the wheels that are in the rollers up and over the height of the roller. Yes, the roller places those wheels at a higher level than the wheel(s) on the ground, but I don't really think it matters since the vehicle's suspension makes it so that each wheel has a significant amount of weight. Yes, the weight is unequal, but I don't think it matters since: The wheels on the ground have enough weight for traction such that if torque is being applied thrust can be generated. And the wheels in the rollers have enough weight that they act as a significant impediment to forward motion - such that the other wheel(s) have to generate a good amount of thrust. Raising the wheels that are not in the rollers would just make the test slightly harder by putting more weight on the wheels that are in the rollers.

    The 2023 Telluride has a Sportmatic shifter. This may have helped when getting out of the pit at the end. Just tip the shifter to the left and you can gain some control over the gearing. You could have stayed in a lower gear. Were you aware of this but did not use it on purpose? Am I misunderstanding the functionality or does it become unavailable in certain modes or conditions? I'm not sure if the new Kias have the dynamax AWD from Magna powertrain, but if you are looking for a used Kia Sportage or Sorento watch out for the hydraulic oil pump/AWD actuator it failed on me last week while driving in the snow to a skiing resort, other than that the Magna sistem works perfect that is the first(and hopefully the last) problem with it. It sends power to wheels whit most grip, and since is not working now i can tel there is a huge difference the car slips more and it doesn't have that "punch from behind", also the cornering is different because it used to send power to the back and to te outer wheels. Huge thumb up to the Dinamax AWD but be careful with used ones because it appears that this pump is a weak point of this sistem.

      Yes, Toyota has remarkable reliability, but most people don’t keep their cars ten years or 100k. The one or two extra repairs for an unreliable brand just don’t make that much difference. Pretty good for a front wheel drive based system. Not as good as the ridgeline though.

    at 10:12 situations like these, you can't blame awd system or car, because tires are critical and major player in this condition. When your tires got muddy, then tires traction act as a slip-tires. Mud fills in any tire pores, massively reduced traction.

    Pretty d*mn good!!
    In the future, go to the logs or the rocks. The tires will clean quickly and then climb right up. Staying in the mud is a natural tendency, but it’s gonna stay mud. Just something I learned over the years. It goes against your first instincts, but usually,,,,, usually,,,,, works.
    One other thing…. Only for the vehicles TFL owns,,,,, put mud guards/flaps on your vehicles. You take them into terrain where the paint will thank you. Especially now that your office is going to be down a gravel road!! 😮 I see the Bronco and cringe a little,,,,, hahaha. It’s not mine, but that poor truck has feeling tooooo,,,,,,,,, 😂😂😂. Ok I get carried away. The mud guards will help with resale as it shows you cared for your vehicle.

      23 EX-XLine here. Just passed 3500 though so still breaking it in. Friend has a ‘21 SX with over 30k and she hasn’t had any issues so far. Believe they are all mostly the same as far as the drivetrain is concerned .

      The engine in the Telluride does not have hydraulic lifters like most modern engines, which means you’ll have to pay someone to manually adjust the valve train or risk engine failure.
