Thanks for the thorough review. It’s so nice inside. Definitely a big change from the Hyundais I looked at years ago. I guess things must be different in the UK because I have NEVER seen the latch adapters for child seats in the front seat of any car in the US. Child seats aren’t even supposed to be in the front seat unless there is no where else they can go in the vehicle. We even have warnings printed on the visors about not putting kids in the front seat because of the risk of severe injury from the airbag. I was shocked to hear you were expecting there to be a latch point for them in the front seat.
Carwow, I'm from Portugal and the most expensive Hyundai Santa Fé for sale in Portugal is the Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid 1.6 T-GDI PHEV Calligraphy Pack which costs 72 950€
@@sivx17 I know that paying 72 thousand euros for a hybrid SUV from Hyundai, even though it is the brand's best car, is a lot and the hybrid SUV options for 72 thousand euros are much better in terms of engine and construction material, but it is to compete with Volkswagen , BMW, Mercedes and Audi
Gotta love the Koreans upping their game to the extent that we have viable GOOD alternates to the usual European suspects in the semi-luxury segment. And the long warranty periods say something about their reliability, as opposed to the expensive maintenance and repairs BMW, Audi, and Mercedes require. And lets not even talk about Range Rover and their reliability!
Nah their engine reliablity issues are becoming a huge problem for potential hyundai buyers at least in NA market. The long warranty periods dont mean anything as i found out with my 2023 Palisade (engine just turn off while driving). They put you through tons of hoops to deny your claim. Dont believe their so called 'long warranties'.
I don’t see them as a viable alternative to semi luxury at all. Buy a Q7, buy an X5 they are light years ahead in every way. However, they are a cheap alternative to having one of those cars, and that’s a good thing. The longevity of a 1.6 in one of these though…. Time will tell. Whereas bmw Audi and even merc use engines that have more than proven themselves. Don’t let your emotions get in the way of objective analysis, there’s a reason German cars are bought and it’s because most of them are or have been at some point, very good cars.
@@sivx17 In North America you're not getting a South Korean built car. You're getting an American built one. The South Korean built cars are exceptionally reliable. In Ireland where I'm from they are statistically ranked in the top 3. Top sold car here in 2024 so far is the Tuscon
The hybrid uses the same powertrain as the Tucson, and unfortunately in the states the PHEV isn’t available yet for the Santa Fe. This car I feel would benefit from the PHEV’s extra power compared to the Tucson
It is less bizarre looking in certain trims and colors.. I bought one in black, i also saw it in white and thought.. no.. but in the darker colors it's less weird looking. That said, if you drive something else in this price range, then drive this, you'll buy this and won't care about the tail lights..
According to the designer, they started with the large boot opening and then went forward. Sorta design in reverse. Apparently, it was to allow for large items to be stored/hauled. They claim it has the largest opening in its class.
I mean except for the back there's little to dislike. It's a big spacious car with GENERALLY good looks and an improved BMW dash, may with lower quality but yeah, for the price amazing value one's getting out of this. I just wish they had some stronger engines, if you load up 5 people in this car and their baggage to go on a holiday, like I would imagine one might buy a car like this for, this thing will rly struggle to accelerate.
@@부먹찍먹-q3oThats not available to UK market. For some reason Hyundai thought a small 1.6 4 cylinder engine is enough for a vehicle this big. At least they should maintain the 2.2 crdi option for this.
I’ve had 2 Santa Fe. Great cars, never let me down. Brilliant family load luggers. Shame this one doesn’t have 40/20/20 split in the middle row. I’d have to go for the 6 seat version for driving to the alps with skis and kids (first world problem!). PHEV needs much more range to drop into lower BIK band to be a good company car choice.
You mentioned the exterior resemblance to the LR discovery a Cpl of times, however , surprisingly you missed pointing out the (elephant in the room) -the steering wheel -a complete swap job copy of the LR😜
As a 2024 owner, that back is the best! Incredible entry on the opening and can provide great cover in the rain. Like the look or not, the function has been incredible
It is quite cool looking car in a way, especially the rear , it's not bad I see it more like a retro design and the interior looks so good with he white panels and white steering wheel even though it look like a Defender steering wheel.
From the thumbnail I thought it was a knockoff defender 💀. Also yh this powertrain is somewhat quick but at full load on the highway it’s pretty gutless compared to the previously offered 2.2 crdi with 200 ish hp. I mean for the price it’s alright but long term reliability of that 1.6 petrol with such load is questionable to me. Also yh the rear end…what da heil is that?!
The only car that would benefit from some chavv blacking out the whole taillight cluster so it blends in a bit better and looks more intentional that whatever they have done to the back
Wait a second, did he just say it was legitimate to compare it to an Audi Q7? Lol. These things go for $50k in Canada and the Q7s get up over $100k. The Audis are built like a luxury tank and weigh up to 800lbs more than these.

Love these….they’re selling a bunch over here in the US
Carwow, I'm from Portugal and the most expensive Hyundai Santa Fé for sale in Portugal is the Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid 1.6 T-GDI PHEV Calligraphy Pack which costs 72 950€
R u richer than English or something?
Power?
Lmao i aint paying 70K for a hyundai. Thats just stupid especially witht he engine reliability issues theyre having.
Her it cost 76 k
Korean car repairs might be cheap but the number of repairs will be same as BMW, Audi, Merc etc.
You call that terrible looking car a viable good alternative???...don't make me laugh.
I have had a Disco 3 and a Disco 4 - and this has the be the closest alternative - until you see that rear end!!
Guaranteed, the rear design is holding back 99% of prospective buyers, myself included.
It is less bizarre looking in certain trims and colors.. I bought one in black, i also saw it in white and thought.. no.. but in the darker colors it's less weird looking. That said, if you drive something else in this price range, then drive this, you'll buy this and won't care about the tail lights..
I love it already ❤❤
bring lamborghini sian in drag race and ferrari 296 battle please and laferrari too
Gotta wait for N version! 😂
According to the designer, they started with the large boot opening and then went forward. Sorta design in reverse. Apparently, it was to allow for large items to be stored/hauled. They claim it has the largest opening in its class.
Sorry Mat I really love the back of this car, for me this is like an old design up to new standards and I absolutely love it !❤
I mean except for the back there's little to dislike.
2.5L tgdi 290hp
@@부먹찍먹-q3oThats not available to UK market. For some reason Hyundai thought a small 1.6 4 cylinder engine is enough for a vehicle this big. At least they should maintain the 2.2 crdi option for this.
12:38 you can see rear air vents on the B pillars 😊
Amazing video, will watch it later
😂😂
I’ve had 2 Santa Fe. Great cars, never let me down. Brilliant family load luggers. Shame this one doesn’t have 40/20/20 split in the middle row. I’d have to go for the 6 seat version for driving to the alps with skis and kids (first world problem!). PHEV needs much more range to drop into lower BIK band to be a good company car choice.
You mentioned the exterior resemblance to the LR discovery a Cpl of times, however , surprisingly you missed pointing out the (elephant in the room) -the steering wheel -a complete swap job copy of the LR😜
All Hyundai designer move to Genesis and Ioniq. So they didnt finished hyundai design
As a 2024 owner, that back is the best! Incredible entry on the opening and can provide great cover in the rain. Like the look or not, the function has been incredible
I think it is just the low positioning of the rear lights that put most people off.
It is quite cool looking car in a way, especially the rear , it's not bad I see it more like a retro design and the interior looks so good with he white panels and white steering wheel even though it look like a Defender steering wheel.
U love it currently I have a 2021 SANTA FE
From the thumbnail I thought it was a knockoff defender 💀.
Also yh this powertrain is somewhat quick but at full load on the highway it’s pretty gutless compared to the previously offered 2.2 crdi with 200 ish hp.
I mean for the price it’s alright but long term reliability of that 1.6 petrol with such load is questionable to me.
Also yh the rear end…what da heil is that?!
VW Vanagon ahh rear
You are just negative to the max
The engine will be ok, have bateries and million gadgets, whatever will broke bfore the engine. Is a luxury car
@@kfx3907 ?
They gave EU the weak engine choice here in Dubai I got a 2.5T with 290hp and 430nm
What the hell is that
They say it’s a car. I say it’s a coffin
I want one for the school run, if only it were bigger!
The only car that would benefit from some chavv blacking out the whole taillight cluster so it blends in a bit better and looks more intentional that whatever they have done to the back
Ive imported the Calligraphy version from the US to Bulgaria and it has the 2.5 Turbo with 281hp :) no hybrid BS for me
Wait a second, did he just say it was legitimate to compare it to an Audi Q7? Lol. These things go for $50k in Canada and the Q7s get up over $100k. The Audis are built like a luxury tank and weigh up to 800lbs more than these.
4:10
Did he just said the location of the gear selector is handy while reaching his hand to the place were it should be?😂
Except the engines are blowing up as the new owners leave the dealership lol
#disinformation
@@yitzele at least get the word right. What you are trying to say is “misinformation.” I might be exaggerating a bit, but these engines are blowing up at an alarming rate and Hyundai is denying a lot of warranty claims. Unless thousands of people sharing their stories are lying of course.
@@drivescene6747 look up a dictionary bro
@KCEL-i1i go buy one and add yourself to the statistic.
I kind of love it, its like your own spaceship
6:35 it’s going back to Santafe old air vents style which is on the B-pillars
That rear end is unforgivable 😂💔
the rear is HURRENDOUS in my opinion
Yeah it's a bit rotten
So im considering buying one but i genuinely hate how the rear looks
I feel like I Wana buy one
Same
Should do a drag race between Kia Sorrento and Hyundai Santa Fe or a full review between the 2
wow 6:15 even the back seats look like the 2008 FORD FLEX LTD... I always liked the FLEX but I never had the courage to buy one, just because it looked to close to a minivan in 2009 (eyes) now all the SUV's look very similar to minivans or raised station wagons like this Santa Fe..... the Flex was 15 years ahead of it's time....
i really like the rear of this car. it's a timeless look!
Idk man I'd probably take the Sorento or the Kodiaq over this car, mainly because they're offered with diesels
Big car + small engine = troubles
Wheres the Renualt 5 review? Have i missed it. Im seeing all the other channels reviewing it in the flesh.
I booked mine today. Hopefully it won’t disappoint me and my family.
