Hope you guys enjoy the video! I know I mention at the end to let me know any non-DR videos you guys may be interested in seeing me make, but also feel free to let me know if you guys have any requests regarding any other DR themed videos too. I have ideas for both but would love to hear what you guys are interested in seeing!
You've occasionally mentioned Kingdom Hearts in your playthroughs and have Sora on your banner, so I think a KH video would be pretty cool. As for the video topic it could be you discussing or analyzing whatever you find most interesting about kingdom hearts.
Thank you for the video! You always put so much good research and information into all your content! Would you be interested in analysing the love hotel scenes? I feel they convey a lot about the characters thoughts and feelings which they themselves would rather not consciously admit to (ie Tenko and how she would view her ideal male partner).
I'd love a QNA video, but if you're not comfortable doing that, maybe make a lets play, it's been awhile and I loved your lets plays of V3 and Doki Doki.
Id like to point out that Junko is waving with her left hand while Tsumugi is waving with her right. I believe that was done to show that even if she was the ultimate cosplayer, she couldn’t be exactly like Junko.
One thing about Gontas execution that makes things worse is that not only was he killed by “insects” which are the things that he loves most, but the insects are all robots and technology which is the one thing that he never really understood, just like the virtual reality world where he killed Miu. He probably didn’t completely understand why bugs, which he thought loved him, were killing him. (This is just a personal theory that I thought of and I don’t think this makes what happened to him any better then it already was)
Another thing about Kaede's: If I'm not wrong, she's plays to make people happy, That is why she does piano in general. So of course the monokumas were booing here and were upset.
From what I heard from other comments,(btw I know the creator said this)but the song was played in all black notes so to torture her even more,Monokuma only dragged her body on the white notes and played it wrong.
In korekiyo's execution you can see that his sister is actually wearing a glove, representing that she was also an evil spirit so she couldn't touch the salt.
Just something to add to Tsumugi’s execution- I think the switch from her Junko cosplay to her true self is meant to symbolize her own realization that she wasted her whole life trying to be other people and she really is just a wannabe that will never be as iconic or memorable in the Danganronpa fans’ eyes as Junko is. I think this is also why Tsumugi technically dies by the same method that Junko did, while completely lacking the theatrical and celebratory feel of The Ultimate Punishment. It seems this is supposed to symbolize how truly plain Tsumugi Shirogane is, a term she would consistently refer to herself as to avoid suspicion of being the mastermind.
i like to think tsumugi looked sad bc of two things : 1.) she regretted everything at the last minute 2.) she died knowing she destroyed the one thing she loved the most. (kind of ironic that danganronpa biggest fan ended danganronpa)
Something fun that kind of spoils the game for those with a really good memory: During the first class trial, Gonta says that he was looking at a bug movie to motivate himself. Tsumugi responds by saying something along the lines of, “Do you imagine yourself as a giant mantis, with knives for arms?” Tsumugi, the mastermind, planned Gonta’s execution, so she would know what happens in it. This could mean multiple things, but I think that it means that Gonta was able to get the most amount of despair possible by getting killed by one of his greatest sources of hope.
They do that a lot with Tsumugi, barely implying that she knows more than she should, like how she was the one who mentioned how Kaede's murder method was like a Rube-Goldberg machine, something Kaede mentioned before, "almost" like she heard it
@Bridger Mattson I think so too, just like she talks about her favourite episode of an anime which is episode 53 of doraemon I believe? That’s the first conversation you can have with her even.
I also always saw Kirumi’s clothes being cut away during her execution to be an extra slap in the face. It might be more meta than anything, but in a lot of media, maid characters tend to be hyper-sexualized, and it might’ve been expected for Kirumi to fall into that category. Instead she stays dignified and modestly dressed the whole game, up until the moment of her execution where more of her skin shows, but is juxtaposed with her being yknow.. dead. At the very least I think it’s a good subversion of the usual fan service-y nature of maid characters.
That may be true. She wore a long skirt with long sleeves and gloves. Basically, only her face was shown. And then her clothes are literally being cut away
The reason tsumigi looked so sad is because it's showing how her life is without cosplay and how she always wanted to be junko but now that she's actually facing despair herself she feels terrible.
Her death encapsulates that perfectly. Instead of going out in a blaze of glory like Junko did, all she got was to be smashed by random falling rubble.
I think when Korekiyo is being boiled, it’s a reference to celestias execution. There’s fire all around him, and he’s looking directly up. While Celestia dosent look as scared as Korekiyo is, I think this is meant to show he’s not scared of death, because he wants to see him sister. I don’t know I might be crazy.
I don't think it's that he's scared, he looks more in pain than anything else. Which I think makes it even more similar to Celeste's execution! I never would've made that connection though, that's awesome :0
Ehhh, I thought it was kinda implied that Celeste was pretending that she wasn’t scared? She hid her fear behind her persona as a way to keep herself from falling into despair by hanging onto the comfort of her act/persona to the end.
Another thing I really love to think about Kaede’s execution: It feels like it’s also an allegory to stage fright. The feeling that when you mess up during a big concert, you feel yourself begin to choke, like you can’t breathe. And then when people begin to boo (or you just simply imagine the crowd booing), you feel that choking feeling gets worse and worse. Eventually, at the end, you just feel *crushed* and wanna die.
I know this feeling, I never specifically played a piano concert (I am pretty good at piano though according to my Music teacher) but I messed up one quick note and my anixety made me feel like this for the rest of the concert
One thing I'd like to add about Gonta's execution that a lot of people don't realize I think is that Monokuma doesn't use actual bugs in his execution. Monokuma shoots robotic wasps at him and the monster bug at the end is either robotic too but at least no actual known insect. This is all to inflict more despair on Gonta since he would have probably even liked it if it were his actual bug friends who sent him off. But they probably wouldn't have done it anyways, so Monokuma had to resort to this either way.
that is actually a really cool detail. thank you for mentioning it. i also feel like that could be a reference to gonta seeing tiny bugs around the school. while in reality they were just tiny cameras
I agree ,but I think it would have to be robotic bugs. since the computer chained to his stomach was a picture of him ,and the bug was probably programmed to kill that picture? So the bug sticked it scythe like arm in the computer Set up on Gonta’s stomach impaling him.
@@lunarjellie That would be a super cool idea because other then Kirumi and Chiaki nobody seems to try to resist their executions. It would be also cool because with Kirumi and Chiaki even though they try to escape it’s clearly all planned. But if someone just leaves their planned execution it would have been really unexpected (and probably annoy the heck out of Monokuma)
@@ramowotbh I have to agree. His ritual circle did light up, which means one of two things. I'm assuming that anyone who's reading this has already played SDR2, so just in case you haven't spoiler warning. Either whatever ritual he did was successful, which would likely be one to save his hamsters. The other major possibility is that it was all planned out. Since the second game takes place in a virtual world, Monokuma can basically make anything happen. It's possible that Monokuma made it light up to give him a ray of hope before crushing it all down into crippling despair. I don't know, this is just speculation.
@@wozaow I believe it's for himself because giving up would be INSANELY out of character, as he just said he'd never give up on life, just like suitsnspade said.
Imagine... just as the world is about to fall in to despair because of all these unfortunate events, a trailer for another Danganronpa game gets announced. It becomes humanity’s last hope.
SPOILERS we are literally living the plot of how the drv3 killing game started. Now we just need 16 ultimates to be immune to Covid 19 and then start the killing game
this might just be me over analyzing but Korekiyo’s execution kinda pays homage to the two previous thrird class trials. he was boiled alive with resembles Celestia’s execution and he had hope of seeing his sister in the afterlife just like how Mikan was hopeful to see her beloved after death
Mylan Linton all 3 of them look up at the camera, watch Mikan’s painfully bad execution you’ll see her looking up when she’s umm..... “starting to react”
here my interpretation of the final execution so i think that when tsumugi stopped cosplaying as junko she was sad because danganronpa was over and as she said at the end 'a world without danganronpa is a world not living in' (or something along those lines) showing how much she loved the series and how she used junko to make herself feel better. Basically uwu owo fangirl is depressed her favourite tv show is over, doesn't mind dying cuz its over and uses a fictional character for making herself feel better. Or something like that i've never been good at this analysis thing
Part of me thinks she act had the most amount of “scripting”. In other words, she had the least free will, and she was forced to say what they wanted her to say. Everything she did was fake and had no meaning. Her expression during her “execution” showed how she truly felt, and we get to see her real personality, then, before we can understand how she feels, she gets crushed. Her cosplay was the only thing she really liked, and she’s forced to put it on one last time. I don’t think anything was her fault. I believe the producers of the show got tired of it and of her. Why not kill the most obsessed person to show that it’s ending? She may not have really had a choice with her words or with her death.
Can we just talk about how selfless Keebo was? He was supposed to kill everyone, but he saved Maki, Shuichi, and Himiko. I wish Miu had survived so she could rebuild him. (Edit: ayowherealltheselikescomefrom-) (Edit 2: Thank y'all for these likes holy shit-)
What if Kaede's Execution also foreshadows executions that COULD have happened? I noticed a lot of other props on the piano as well, such as cards that could relate to a possible execution for Himiko, and a warped clock which could relate to either a possible execution for someone else (maybe Angie? if you're unsure about how that could relate to the ultimate artist, search up the painting "The Persistence of Memory").
I'd agree and I think that painting is what got Angie into art. If she had been killed with something relating to her hope (art), monokuma would definitely take the chance
I have an idea of what some people’s executions could be Himiko- The Missing Card (she is standing across from a deck of cards, she touches one of them, it goes missing and comes out from behind her, decapitating her) Angie- Atua’s Will (she is surrounded by clones of Atua, one comes forwards, holding a tube of paint, they(I don’t know much about Atua) pour it down her throat) Kokichi- Liar’s Fire (he is standing above a flame and a screen is in front of him, it asks a question, if he lies the fire grows, if the fire doesn’t reach him he is dropped into it) Shuichi- Cold Case (he is trying to solve a murder case that took place in a meat freezer, he is slowly getting colder and colder, he gets hypothermia, dying slowly and painfully)
@@paisleighyt6153 sorry if this comes off as rude)actually kokichi and shuichi had official unused execution Shuichi being he tries to solve a mystery and is killed by mannequins Kokichi being strapped to an electric chair and a lie detector
@@Scorpeon_27 Kokichis unused execution actually has official art by the illustrators of Daganronpa! We see Kokichi in a small locked room, strapped to an electric chair, with 2 monocubs behind him :) I actually don't know where it was exactly posted though (this is the only social media I have so that's why) so I'm sorry!
The Kaede death warning was really nice, because I've got a friend with a trigger for Kaede's execution, and I just thought that was really cool of Weeby
Fun fact: Jorekiyo died twice because, if you look at the third trial's votes, everyone voted but him. So yeah, since he didnt vite and got voted off, he got excecuted twice
I also think its worth noting that he was really young when he got involved with his sister. She groomed him then entered a sexual relationship with him. I think that can add some further levels of despair here - When someone is still so attached and in love with their abuser, nothing hurts more at the time than when they turn their back on you. It could have a lot to do with the identity things too. I find him a pretty fascinating character study from this viewpoint.
A small thing that was missed in the video regarding Korekiyo’s execution. At the end when Monokuma and Kiyo’s sister’s ghost are overlooking the skyline and sunset, Monokuma is smoking a cigarette. Often in media, this is used to denote two people having just had sex in this sort of context, which is a further betrayal of Kiyo considering their incestuous past and how he loved his sister romantically as well. I agree that Kiyo’s execution is probably the most emotionally brutal in the series. Considering he had already accepted and actually looked forward to death, having to wear him down in so many ways was the only way to make him feel despair.
@@theYammy Huh, it could be a gohei. For my entire life I’ve seen it as two streams of smoke coming from a cigarette considering he waves it in front of his mouth and he’s close to Kiyo’s sister.
I've always thought that Gonta's execution was supposed to make him out as a stereotypical villain from a western film. The types of movies where cowboy gentlemen have gun duels with nefarious criminals. This would mean that he dies believing that, not only is he not a gentlemen, but he is the furthest thing from it: a villain. Which is honestly so sad.
This is probably an unpopular opinion of mine, but I really love Gonta’s execution theme _Too bad I still gotta see my poor boy get executed in such a gruesome way_
When someone talks about Kaito, Korekiyo, Kaede or Kiibo’s deaths I cry Kaito and Kaede’s passions and dreams were used to torture them Korekiyo found out his life had been a lie, from his talent to his clothes, everything was dictated by his sister but she had turned on him And Kiibo sacrificed himself to save everyone else
If Kaede's execution was 10 hours, that means the other students were standing and watching her get hung for 10 hours- now we know Shuichi's true pain (:
@@user-xw1tb7hw4o The clock behind the piano moving, along with everything else speeding up The clock moved about 8-10 hours, and since the Monokubs let Kaede land on the keys while hanging her, her torture was longer
the first execution is definitely referencing alice in wonderland too. how she fell onto the piano, off with her head, roses, thorns, the caterpillar, the cards, the white keys (white rabbit), the clocks the white rabbit uses. i can see how kaede is paralleled to alice from the story “chasing the white rabbit” aka the mastermind and her falling into wonderland but it’s the school.
Fun fact: Korekiyo's deed ended up getting noticed because he killed Tenko. He killed Tenko because he was greedy enough to kill two people. Angie always said that you shouldn't be too greedy. So after killing Angie, he became greedy and still killed Tenko, which resulted in his death.
This series is litty, im so excited. Thanks for making these!!! Also first lmao Edit: after watching all the way through, I have some things to say! So, with Kaede's execution, I do agree that she was pissed off with the poor playing of such a basic song, but I like to imagine her being tortured with memories of learning the song when she was younger (her old memories of the song are "killing" her literally and figuratively) and was torturing her. Nothing much to say about Kirumi, its pretty cut and dry. At first I thought all the executions were based on a story/tale/work of fiction, but the references kinda stop after Korekiyo. Same with Korekiyo, I like to imagine his sister actually hated what he was doing for her, and never wanted him to murder girls to give her friends. If that was me I'd be pissed too. I love that he was killed twice, even after promising to watch over the rest of the students. Another small note, a lot of fans noticed the zooming in of Korekiyo's face is very reminiscent of Celeste's execution, especially with parallels of fire, killing for selfish reasons, and double murder. This also singles out Mikan as the only double-murderer that would not have killed had she not caught the despair disease and remembered her despair remnant self. Gonta's is pretty solid too, I like your explanation of the wild west thing, I would have never put those pieces together. One thing to say about the robotic insects is that he was killed by a computer "bug" hahhahah get it??? Lol seriously, good job. Kaito's execution really reminds me of someone going through hell to get what they want. Kaito wants to go to space, but instead of going straight there, he went through the ground, core of the earth, through the ocean, etc., never taking the easy road to his goals. He did eventually get there , and died happily and against monokumas will. I imagine monokuma wanted to torture him so badly for making an (almost) unsolvable murder that he didn't account for Kaito's disease killing him first. It was a very time-sensitive thing and, instead of just straight up killing Kaito, he waited too long and Kaito died the way he wanted. Nothing to say about the final execution, I appreciated that Tsumugi was mostly bored. I thought she'd be happy to die in a world without danganronpa/since its ending, she would rather die. Rip Kiibo. AGAIN awesome video. Time to binge all of these.
i feel you, i wish they gave her more overall like idk junko got a backstory why not her "copycat" ? it doesnt make sense . i wish we actually got a explanation or reasoning not only omg its fiction. the end.
@Whyte Chocolate omg kiibos literally my fav that wouldve been amazing and the symbolism... im not even kidding tsumugis the main thing i had issues with. why no complexity? no shade to tsumugi or anything like even her free time events dont really give much since its "fiction" am i right. of course, its been years since i finished the game so i could be forgetting stuff sorry for rambling lol
11:45 I feel really bad for Korekiyo because he thought his sister loved him even though all his sister did was hurt him and he even killed just so he could see her again.
I just noticed that in Kirumi’s execution you can see her glove ripped at the very end when she’s about to fall. I may be overthinking it but it could be a hint to the fact that one of the only things that gave her away was her ripped glove while holding onto the rope to prevent rope burn. And now her glove is ripped while she’s using a rope again. Kind of a slap in the face when you think about it.
Honestly, one thing I will say about Kaito's execution that I really liked was that because Kaito died on his own was basically his way of giving Monokuma that final "Fuck you"
Kiibo's death right at the end made me cry. He felt that last hope and then he finished the job, knowing that Shuichi, Himiko, and Maki are safe. IT IS SO SAD
I also think Kaito's execution is interesting in that not only is it a DR1 reference but it is also happens during the part of the game where you're supposed to think that this game is connected to DR1 and 2, and that these characters are students of the new Hope's Peak that Makoto established at the end of DR3.
another thing about kaede’s execution - when she was being dropped on the piano keys, you can see that she’s being dropped on the white keys, even though the original song is supposed to be played on the black keys, hinting at the fact that she wasn’t the true culprit.
@Jade Herman how dare you call me out like that. I will use this opportunity to punish you with my opinion. Ahem, Kaede was the best girl in v3 and debatably the best protagonist.
Ok, for Kirumi’s execution, I actually think that the saw blades were put there by Monokuma to give her even more false hope before ripping it all away.
There's something else about Kirumi's. She was one of the most dignified characters of the franchise, because of her personality and her way to help others. But as she runned away, tried to escape the execution and climbed the thorny vine until she lost her clothes, it's like she's becoming less and less dignified until the very end, where the scream she shouts is barely even human and more like an animal scream. The Danganronpa Team even confirmed that they thought Kirumi's Dead was "absolutely undignified".
Why is it when people see Korekiyo’s execution they think it’s weird yet when you look into the lore of the execution it’s actually pretty cool Still kinda weird, but less
I never noticed how all of the first students that were executed got dragged to their execution by their necks. Also it's fun to see how the first execution in the franchise is similar to the last with Kaito's being more hopeful as a way to say that the franchise ends with hope. Great video Weeby!
Honestly, Kaito's execution is my favorite in the series. Mainly because I love the guy, and he actually pretty much defeated monokuma and despair itself.
Could gonta's wild west theme supposed to give the feeling of toughness? Since whenever the character is in this setting the normal reaction is that this is the badass standing on his own against the world. I'd say that's similar to how gonta wanted to protect his friends all by himself but couldn't think of anything. That type of strength is further shown by him tanking "bullets" like it's no big deal. I think it's also supposed to show how the bugs he cared about so much were the ones that got him killed, through probably one of the most cruel ways possible that being the fire. So not only is he killed by his most loved hobby, it's killed with him like every other bug. I may be reaching a little but that's how I saw it.
I've noticed something in Kirumi's execution Since Kirumi was falling from the top that would probably mean that Kirumi had to go through the saws and she saw all her hard work for escaping was just fading away from her and correct me if I'm wrong but that would probably represent that she killed Ryoma for nothing and that her aid for her country had all been a waste and that she's realised that she's too late representing that when she at the top that it was too late to realise that when climbing to the top that it would be too late to back down *and too late to realise that her final web has been weaved*
When you were talking about how Korekiyo Loves ropes, it reminded me of that one scene from Chapter 2, while investigating behind the stage of the Water tank himiko used for her "Magic" trick, we find a rope, and Korekiyo immediately points out that the rope is 50somethingsomething meters long.
I’ve noticed something while watching Gonta’s execution. He was put into a Wild West theme with Monokuma as a sherif. I think Monokuma did this to make it seem like Gonta was a bad person during the execution. I could be over thinking that.
Had me laughing since Minute 1! lol Seeing the DR1/3 Final Executions back to back, I just noticed that the "waving arms" are switched! (Left for DR1, Right for DR3) I think it's another hint at Tsumugi's "failures?" I may be projecting, but I think that, during the final trial, once Shuichi brings up the old DR summaries he found, he pointed out a lot of mistakes Tsumugi did trying to retrace DR1&2 -- repeating the chapter structures and most executions being remixes of old ones (detailed below), Kokichi outsmarting her, Kaito's execution backfire, having to fix Kaede's attempted murder, the gang absolutely not buying the far-fetched Gofer Project backstory (The Tragedy was unlikely but still realistic, Gofer Project was straight up Apocalyptic Science Fiction), turning the executions up to near-fantastical... I always thought that was the Theme of NDRV3 lol -- Kodaka saying "this is hard work, and it JUST *WON'T* DIE..!" * Chapter 1 Love Interest Attempts Murder (Sayaka/???/Kaede) * Execution 1 Neck-Cuff-Pull (Leon/Teruteru/Kaede) * Chapter 2 I Was Just Trying To Protect You (Mondo to Chihiro/Peko to Fuyuhiko/Kirumi to Japan) * Execution 2 Retelling of Japan Classics (Little Black Sambo/Abareno Shogun/Spider's Thread) * Chapter 3 double victims (Kiyotaka+Hifumi/Ibuki+Saionji/Angie+Tenko) * Execution 3 Joy from being burned alive (Versailles Witch/Mikan's... "Burning passion" while being launched into the atmosphere/The melting pot to reunite with his sister - using the Versailles Witch angle!) * Chapter 4 Noble Strong-Person Self-Sacrifice (Sakura/Gundam/Gonta) * Execution 4 Alter Ego + Gundham's Desert Western execution music = Gonta * Chapter 5 Taking the Blame (Naegi for Kyoko/Chiaki for Nagito/Kaito for Kokichi) * Execution 5 randomness (Naegi's failed sacrifice/Chiaki randomly dooming herself/Kaito's impeccably-timed illness) And of course * Chapter 5 plot twist regarding the purpose of the killing game (Protection from The Tragedy/Protection from Despair/Protection from Mundanity kindasorta) * Trial 6 - Junko + School-Wide Destruction (DR2)
I've never clicked a notif so fast before. I really like your analytical content, not just for Danganronpa But this game easily has some of my favorite executions followed by the first game. Just how dark they are and how well thought out each one is
My theory on Kaede's execution is that while things were ramping up, Kaede was being swung back and forth across the keys so violently that she ended up breaking her neck, which may have been what ultimately resulted in her death. EDIT: I even saw this in the wikia. There was a chart of victims and blackeneds, and it listed her cause of death being a broken neck.
That wouldn't surprise me, given that death by hanging tends to result in broken necks when the executed party is dropped from the gallows particularly violently.
I feel like v3 had some of the saddest/most intense executions of all the games. These are harder to watch and were a lot more impactful (to me) compared to the other games. Not saying the others weren't good, just these were ramped up to 50 lol
about that comment about "whether junko was real or fiction is up to viewer" or smth.. i feel like so many people have forgotten such an important detail about v3 that was shared when it was being teased for? i dont know where the info came from but before it came out the entire thing buzzing around it was that it takes place in a different universe to the other games. meaning the other games/junko are only fiction in v3 ????
i feel like this has already been talked about, but i just found out that the shot put balls used to kill rantaro (still miss him) could be a reference to the first danganronpa game when yasuhiro's crystal ball was used for the first ever class trial.
The fact its coming up on 4 years since my danganronpa phase is crazy. I remember going through the games as these videos were coming out, one by one, as the deaths occur which got me spoiled so many times.
If you would be intrested, there's a demo of a game called Chromatose, a strategic card game styled visual novel. It's not finished yet but it's pretty intresting, I think you might enjoy it. Below I'll say it's concept, so if you're interested and wanna go in completely blind I suggest not reading that part. Basicaly the main character Leroy is trapped inside (similiar to persona) a kind of collective unconsiouc, a cognitive world where people who fell into coma through some flaw reside. The only way out is by completing your trial and reversing the mistake that brought you there. Leroy is special in the way that he can choose to leave at any time without having to do a trial, but that would mean abondoning all the other people trapped. As such he (you) is given a choice, to leave and forget about this place or to help out other people with their trial and allow them to escape. But Leroy only has 12 hours, meaning if he wastes all his time he will also become forever trapped in there.
I think it would've been interesting if Gonta's execution took place near a mansion, referencing his desire to be a gentleman, the place where his Alter Ego killed Miu, and how far he is from becoming a gentleman.
Also, about Kaito's execution, unlike blast off nr 1 where the goal was to first bring the rocket high into the sky to signify hope and then have it smash into the ground to signify loosing that hope, here the rocket first plunges down to bring dispair, but actually ends up taking away despair while Kaito "falls" back up, after avoiding Monokuma's execution
I believe that the theory that kaede was having her execution last 8 hours is incorrect for two reasons. Reason 1: It would probably get boring and the students would have probably left by then. Reason 2: The audience tends to get bored easily wouldn’t 8 hours of the same thing be boring. When the clock speeds up I just I think that’s to show that she is going faster or something like that. This is just my opinion.
@@nekiahflowers5862 also I believe they wouldn’t have enough rocks to throw for 8-10 hours ;-; Also when I said audience I was referring to the people watching the killing game.
It wouldn’t get boring in my opinion cause it’s speeding up, I get it’s live but in a more modern era than what we have now I don’t think it’s crazy to speculate they could speed it up as well . Just my thoughts though your opinion is valid
@@something_els3 no one said they had to watch it all the way there was never a rule if there was then it would have been 8 hours and they’d have to wait or they’d possibly die
Am I the only one that felt the worse for Korekiyo’s death? He did all this to get with his sister, only to be killed by her afterwards. It made his life completely meaningless, since he did everything for her, and it was all useless
People be like: *the worst part is that she's playing the piano horribly* Me: *i disagree,oh boy can you imagine being hanged with to play the piano and the rythm is fast.also for like 10 hours-*
Great video Weeby!! In Kaede's Akamatsu's execution - the caterpillar, cat, clock and the red/white roses are not just based on the other students' executions they are also based on the Children's novel; Alice Adventures in Wonderland
Kiibos death was always one of the saddest ones for me not only because he is one of my favourite characters but also because of the fact that he died happily knowing that his friends were alive and could escape like they always wanted to
Another thing linking Kirumi's execution to The Spider's Thread is if you look under Kirumi's corpse after she falls to the ground, you'll notice that the cracks left from her impact with the ground resembles the image of a spider web.
one thing i dont think you mentioned for Kaede is the fact one part about playing concerts that made it better for her is seeing everyone smiles, so her "playing" badly and everyone booing her could coexist similar emotions that lead to the despair, very similar to Kirumi's exuction with everyone yelling at her to quit her job as shes prouded herself on her abilities as a maid (as started in a free time event when Saihara wants to hire her) but Kirumi's selfless devotion she also prides herself on makes her press herself thru the booing crowd and reach the thorn rope she climbs. Where at the end of it and she dies we see roses which i think is also refrenced in Kaede's execution as you stated the thorns there as well i think the roses that went with them are also part of the same refrence
With Gonta's execution, this is actually foreshadowed in the first trial. One of Tsumugi's geeky references is him becoming a big mantis character with sword hands.
@@mycommentisgonnaruinyourday122 I wouldn't say so myself. The Mantis in Gonta's execution has huge sword hands. Korekiyo's did feature samurai so there is a potential link, but Gonta's makes much greater sense.
I forget where I had originally seen this (because I certainly didn't notice it myself) but another cool detail is that during Kaito's execution, more specifically, when it failed and the rocket starts to crash back down to the earth, the remaining characters are lined up together. The spotless survivors are all using their neutral/idle sprites, but Tsumugi is the only one using her concerned sprite, not because she fears for Kaito, but because she's just as upset as monokuma that her execution actually failed.
I couldn’t help but cry and begged for it to stop at Kaito’s execution. The smile on his face I just couldn’t take it. Just seeing my comfort character die was so sad
I just noticed this, but the way Tsumugi turns back into her normal look resembles how Junko's face appears bored right before the crusher hits her. Their facial expressions even match up pretty well
Insert obligatory first comment. Anyways thank you for posting! I love that you've been posting more. I always missed your videos and hope you have more videos to come, no matter the subject matter.
Kaedes is DEFINITELY the most brutal, to me at least, I think her just being hung and thrown around is so painful???? And then realizing that she died, when she wasn't even the true culprit
Also, I'd like to point out that in the scene of Korekiyo's execution where he was being dropped from being spun in the torture method and the remaining monokubs were looking down upon him, it's similar to the first "execution" scene of Komaru Naegi from UDG (where she was dropped after being put into the hunting game). The monokubs slightly resembled the warriors of hope, Monodam being Monaca, Monophanie being Kotoko, and Monotaro being Masaru. (Jataro and Nagisa were resembling Monosuke and Monokid, however they were previously executed with the earlier two executions).
Kaede Akamatsu shares the distinction with Makoto Naegi and Kyoko Kirigiri for being declared the Blackened despite being innocent and further more with kyoko for going through with the Execution Makoto survived his.
@@Clubfilipino2008 from my understanding, there are no V3 executions that were unused (or at least none that have been confirmed) .There are fanmade executions for a few of V3 kids made by an artist called riyuta however, to which I believe are the drawings your talking about.
cw: detailed depictions of torture im pretty sure korekiyos is not only the most emotionally painful exucution, but also tge most physically painful one. being boiled alive is a *horrific* way to go. it is long and drawn out, and can last from minutes to hours. the steam you inhale causes every breath to put you in even more pain, burning your throat and lungs. your skin will peel away from your body and even fuse with your clothes. not only will your skin be burned, but the heat will cause the liquid inside your body to heat up and cook your organs, fat, everything inside you aswell. korekiyo was likely bleeding from the eyes because they were also being cooked alive from the steam (and i heard that similar things happen in electric chaur exucutions, because your body is essentially burning aswell. electric chair is also a horrific way to go). he mightve even smelt himself cooking, imagine smelling yourself cooking likea turkey in the oven while your in excruciating pain? heres my source, if you wanna read even more about what its like to burn alive m.ranker.com/list/what-being-boiled-is-like/laura-allan oh, also, gontas was pretty bad too. i forgot all the details but being stabbed through the chest like that causes much more pain then you might think, and it also wouldnt kill you immediately, so he also felt the burning aswell. i acknowledge gonta did something wrong, he took a life (not really but yknow), but did he really deserve all that??? poor gonta, his trail and exucution is so fucking sad

You should play Your Turn To Die! It’s a death game like Danganronpa but it has different themes and is a lot more serious. And no murder mysteries.

(This is just a personal theory that I thought of and I don’t think this makes what happened to him any better then it already was)
I don't know if this is true but I think the execution is mocking his lack of knowledge just like they were mocking Kaede.
oh and i think the bullets for that revolver or the revolver are called wasps or stingers I can't seem to remember
It's probably the case since this game in particular seems to revel in causing the most despair riddled executions.
That’s what I think cuz your using bugs against him and technology is something he never really understood and that’s why I cried during his execution
OH NO
Another thing about Kaede's: If I'm not wrong, she's plays to make people happy, That is why she does piano in general. So of course the monokumas were booing here and were upset.
And her classmates had to watch her being hanged. So they probably didn't enjoy her last performance that much. 😬
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
I KNEW SHE PLAYED THE PIANO TO MAKE PEOPLE HAPPY
BUT I DIDNT THINK OF THE EXECUTION THAT WAY
Yeah... I probably did the most research on her execution lol.
From what I heard from other comments,(btw I know the creator said this)but the song was played in all black notes so to torture her even more,Monokuma only dragged her body on the white notes and played it wrong.
@@iloveidiashroud I also heard that making her only play the white tiles hinted at how she wasn’t the blackened
In korekiyo's execution you can see that his sister is actually wearing a glove, representing that she was also an evil spirit so she couldn't touch the salt.
ohh i never noticed that!
They are slug humans
Salt kills them.

Oh... i didn't know, but thanks for telling
thank you for fixing my broken brain. I was so confused how his sister wasn't melting
Damn, nice catch.
I agree - Junko and Tsumugi both died the same way; GETTING CRUSHED (Along with Monokuma
thats cool :0
i like to think tsumugi looked sad bc of two things :
1.) she regretted everything at the last minute
2.) she died knowing she destroyed the one thing she loved the most.
(kind of ironic that danganronpa biggest fan ended danganronpa)
I think Tsumugi is iconic too ;-;
But i would prefer If she was a "normal" character and not the mastermind
Something fun that kind of spoils the game for those with a really good memory: During the first class trial, Gonta says that he was looking at a bug movie to motivate himself. Tsumugi responds by saying something along the lines of, “Do you imagine yourself as a giant mantis, with knives for arms?” Tsumugi, the mastermind, planned Gonta’s execution, so she would know what happens in it. This could mean multiple things, but I think that it means that Gonta was able to get the most amount of despair possible by getting killed by one of his greatest sources of hope.
That makes it so much worse 😫
They do that a lot with Tsumugi, barely implying that she knows more than she should, like how she was the one who mentioned how Kaede's murder method was like a Rube-Goldberg machine, something Kaede mentioned before, "almost" like she heard it
I thought I was a Pokémon/digemon or something similar reference because she has many references in her lines.
@@cloudedmind7690 My theory is that she hides her knowledge of what's going on in references.
That could be it, but it could also show the chance of her survival being cut down ever so quickly

@@pinj this is a video analyzing the daganronpa 3 execute so commenters will analyze as well
The reason tsumigi looked so sad is because it's showing how her life is without cosplay and how she always wanted to be junko but now that she's actually facing despair herself she feels terrible.
THIS COMMENT
thanks, my girl tsumugi oogi needs more love
Thank you for recognising my girl tsumugi
Ooooo yes. Adding that to my Tsumugi headcanons.
Her death encapsulates that perfectly. Instead of going out in a blaze of glory like Junko did, all she got was to be smashed by random falling rubble.
Pretty sure she's sad because Danganronpa itself has been defeated, so now she's going to die with her pride and joy killed off and to never return.
@@theYammy ohhhh that's another way to think of it, this didn't cross my mind
Love the connection! You’re not crazy, lol
@@theYammy oh right I thought she was enjoying it because she was going out in a very unique way before the truck
I know this feeling, I never specifically played a piano concert (I am pretty good at piano though according to my Music teacher) but I messed up one quick note and my anixety made me feel like this for the rest of the concert
i know the feeling.
Oh.. I always thought it was a reference to the sonic series because their robot bugs and lot's of bees if I remember correctly
I always see Kaito’s death to his illness instead of the execution him just giving Monokuma the biggest middle finger ever.
He did. He gave the biggest middle finger there ever was.
I realized that Kaito like Celeste, Kyoko, and Makoto, isn’t tied to his chair, he just sits there.
imagine someone just jumping out of the chair and running off
that would be a cool exucution
@@lunarjellie That would be a super cool idea because other then Kirumi and Chiaki nobody seems to try to resist their executions. It would be also cool because with Kirumi and Chiaki even though they try to escape it’s clearly all planned. But if someone just leaves their planned execution it would have been really unexpected (and probably annoy the heck out of Monokuma)
@@divya5831 WHY DOES NOBODY UNDERSTAND? THE SPELL WASNT FOR HIM IT WAS FOR HIS HAMSTERS
@@wozaow I believe it's for himself because giving up would be INSANELY out of character, as he just said he'd never give up on life, just like suitsnspade said.

here my interpretation of the final execution so i think that when tsumugi stopped cosplaying as junko she was sad because danganronpa was over and as she said at the end 'a world without danganronpa is a world not living in' (or something along those lines) showing how much she loved the series and how she used junko to make herself feel better.

I have an idea of what some people’s executions could be
Himiko- The Missing Card (she is standing across from a deck of cards, she touches one of them, it goes missing and comes out from behind her, decapitating her)
Angie- Atua’s Will (she is surrounded by clones of Atua, one comes forwards, holding a tube of paint, they(I don’t know much about Atua) pour it down her throat)
Kokichi- Liar’s Fire (he is standing above a flame and a screen is in front of him, it asks a question, if he lies the fire grows, if the fire doesn’t reach him he is dropped into it)
Shuichi- Cold Case (he is trying to solve a murder case that took place in a meat freezer, he is slowly getting colder and colder, he gets hypothermia, dying slowly and painfully)

JOREKIYO
Cigarette? Are you talking about the gohei that Monokuma is waving around?

the first execution is definitely referencing alice in wonderland too. how she fell onto the piano, off with her head, roses, thorns, the caterpillar, the cards, the white keys (white rabbit), the clocks the white rabbit uses.
i can see how kaede is paralleled to alice from the story “chasing the white rabbit” aka the mastermind and her falling into wonderland but it’s the school.
Also first lmao
Edit: after watching all the way through, I have some things to say!

+ she was wearing glove meaning she is evil ghost or something like that I find a comment about that all the credit go to the other comment
Honestly, one thing I will say about Kaito's execution that I really liked was that because Kaito died on his own was basically his way of giving Monokuma that final "Fuck you"
Kaito: dies from sickness
Monokuma: *task failed successfully.*
😂 same sorta goes for Kaito
Kiibo's death right at the end made me cry. He felt that last hope and then he finished the job, knowing that Shuichi, Himiko, and Maki are safe. IT IS SO SAD
I also think Kaito's execution is interesting in that not only is it a DR1 reference but it is also happens during the part of the game where you're supposed to think that this game is connected to DR1 and 2, and that these characters are students of the new Hope's Peak that Makoto established at the end of DR3.

The executions: Extremely Brutal, painful, heartwrenching
Me and my dumbass: hehe Kaede got stoned hehe blazeit
Thanks for making me laugh a tiny bit, was welcome with the subject of the video
Just kidding its from my macaroni and cheeHeese
piano go brrrrr
Why is it when people see Korekiyo’s execution they think it’s weird yet when you look into the lore of the execution it’s actually pretty cool
Still kinda weird, but less
I never noticed how all of the first students that were executed got dragged to their execution by their necks. Also it's fun to see how the first execution in the franchise is similar to the last with Kaito's being more hopeful as a way to say that the franchise ends with hope. Great video Weeby!
Honestly, Kaito's execution is my favorite in the series. Mainly because I love the guy, and he actually pretty much defeated monokuma and despair itself.
Come to think about it, his execution reminds me of makoto's. The fact that both of them failed and that monokuma didn't see it coming.
Friend: Dabbing Monotaro isn't real, he can't hurt you
Dabbing Monotaro: 11:47
How did i not realize this until now.
I've noticed something in Kirumi's execution
Since Kirumi was falling from the top that would probably mean that Kirumi had to go through the saws and she saw all her hard work for escaping was just fading away from her and correct me if I'm wrong but that would probably represent that she killed Ryoma for nothing and that her aid for her country had all been a waste and that she's realised that she's too late representing that when she at the top that it was too late to realise that when climbing to the top that it would be too late to back down *and too late to realise that her final web has been weaved*
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS YAYA

When you were talking about how Korekiyo Loves ropes, it reminded me of that one scene from Chapter 2, while investigating behind the stage of the Water tank himiko used for her "Magic" trick, we find a rope, and Korekiyo immediately points out that the rope is 50somethingsomething meters long.
I’ve noticed something while watching Gonta’s execution. He was put into a Wild West theme with Monokuma as a sherif. I think Monokuma did this to make it seem like Gonta was a bad person during the execution. I could be over thinking that.
To this day I'm still so hurt over the way they did Kaede. She was my favorite character...
Had me laughing since Minute 1! lol
Seeing the DR1/3 Final Executions back to back, I just noticed that the "waving arms" are switched! (Left for DR1, Right for DR3)
I think it's another hint at Tsumugi's "failures?"
I may be projecting, but I think that, during the final trial, once Shuichi brings up the old DR summaries he found, he pointed out a lot of mistakes Tsumugi did trying to retrace DR1&2 -- repeating the chapter structures and most executions being remixes of old ones (detailed below), Kokichi outsmarting her, Kaito's execution backfire, having to fix Kaede's attempted murder, the gang absolutely not buying the far-fetched Gofer Project backstory (The Tragedy was unlikely but still realistic, Gofer Project was straight up Apocalyptic Science Fiction), turning the executions up to near-fantastical...
I always thought that was the Theme of NDRV3 lol -- Kodaka saying "this is hard work, and it JUST *WON'T* DIE..!"
* Chapter 1 Love Interest Attempts Murder (Sayaka/???/Kaede)
* Execution 1 Neck-Cuff-Pull (Leon/Teruteru/Kaede)
* Chapter 2 I Was Just Trying To Protect You (Mondo to Chihiro/Peko to Fuyuhiko/Kirumi to Japan)
* Execution 2 Retelling of Japan Classics (Little Black Sambo/Abareno Shogun/Spider's Thread)
* Chapter 3 double victims (Kiyotaka+Hifumi/Ibuki+Saionji/Angie+Tenko)
* Execution 3 Joy from being burned alive (Versailles Witch/Mikan's... "Burning passion" while being launched into the atmosphere/The melting pot to reunite with his sister - using the Versailles Witch angle!)
* Chapter 4 Noble Strong-Person Self-Sacrifice (Sakura/Gundam/Gonta)
* Execution 4 Alter Ego + Gundham's Desert Western execution music = Gonta
* Chapter 5 Taking the Blame (Naegi for Kyoko/Chiaki for Nagito/Kaito for Kokichi)
* Execution 5 randomness (Naegi's failed sacrifice/Chiaki randomly dooming herself/Kaito's impeccably-timed illness)
And of course
* Chapter 5 plot twist regarding the purpose of the killing game (Protection from The Tragedy/Protection from Despair/Protection from Mundanity kindasorta)
* Trial 6 - Junko + School-Wide Destruction (DR2)
I've never clicked a notif so fast before. I really like your analytical content, not just for Danganronpa
But this game easily has some of my favorite executions followed by the first game. Just how dark they are and how well thought out each one is
omg i did not notice those creepy black dolls in keade's execution
My theory on Kaede's execution is that while things were ramping up, Kaede was being swung back and forth across the keys so violently that she ended up breaking her neck, which may have been what ultimately resulted in her death.
EDIT: I even saw this in the wikia. There was a chart of victims and blackeneds, and it listed her cause of death being a broken neck.
That just adds salt to the wound
✨ c r i n g e ✨
That wouldn't surprise me, given that death by hanging tends to result in broken necks when the executed party is dropped from the gallows particularly violently.
I feel like v3 had some of the saddest/most intense executions of all the games. These are harder to watch and were a lot more impactful (to me) compared to the other games. Not saying the others weren't good, just these were ramped up to 50 lol
about that comment about "whether junko was real or fiction is up to viewer" or smth.. i feel like so many people have forgotten such an important detail about v3 that was shared when it was being teased for?
i dont know where the info came from but before it came out the entire thing buzzing around it was that it takes place in a different universe to the other games. meaning the other games/junko are only fiction in v3
????
No it takes place in a different universe then ours. The entirety of danganronpa is fiction
When Kirumi falls the ground breaks and forms a spider web pattern which is also a cool touch :3
i feel like this has already been talked about, but i just found out that the shot put balls used to kill rantaro (still miss him) could be a reference to the first danganronpa game when yasuhiro's crystal ball was used for the first ever class trial.
The fact its coming up on 4 years since my danganronpa phase is crazy. I remember going through the games as these videos were coming out, one by one, as the deaths occur which got me spoiled so many times.
The clock speeding up could also represent how long and excruciating it felt for Kaede to be in this situation.
I’m really glad I found this channel it helped me get into the danganronpa community and understand the story and character’s.
Ok but the clock in Kaedes execution- Was it actually 8 hours or was it just speeding up?
I really really hope it wasn’t for 8 hours 😭
Pretty sure it was sped up
I highly doubt that the students were watching Kaede’s death for eight hours straight. Definitely just sped up.
I hope it wasn’t 10 hours like Weeby said... even 8 is horrible but better than 10.
I think it was Monokuma speeding up
I believe that the theory that kaede was having her execution last 8 hours is incorrect for two reasons. Reason 1: It would probably get boring and the students would have probably left by then. Reason 2: The audience tends to get bored easily wouldn’t 8 hours of the same thing be boring. When the clock speeds up I just I think that’s to show that she is going faster or something like that. This is just my opinion.
Tell that to the people trying to get a PS5
i agree w the first thought but the audience was monokuma’s lmao
It made his life completely meaningless, since he did everything for her, and it was all useless
he was killed 2 times 1 for killing and 2 for not voting
Although the talk of what happened in Kaede’s doesn’t upset me (or trigger me) I appreciate how considerate you are of others and their feelings!
People be like: *the worst part is that she's playing the piano horribly*
Me: *i disagree,oh boy can you imagine being hanged with to play the piano and the rythm is fast.also for like 10 hours-*
Great video Weeby!!
In Kaede's Akamatsu's execution - the caterpillar, cat, clock and the red/white roses are not just based on the other students' executions they are also based on the Children's novel; Alice Adventures in Wonderland
Kiibos death was always one of the saddest ones for me not only because he is one of my favourite characters but also because of the fact that he died happily knowing that his friends were alive and could escape like they always wanted to
I *just* finished watching the V2 executions explained XD
this is gonna be amazing I'm sure!
Ah yes the 52'nd killing game
@@rat0142 25 was better
It's the second game, not 52nd.
Yeah I wonder how rantaro survived there
@@KittyCola99 Have you finished v3 bruh
Another thing linking Kirumi's execution to The Spider's Thread is if you look under Kirumi's corpse after she falls to the ground, you'll notice that the cracks left from her impact with the ground resembles the image of a spider web.
Maid mom didn’t deserve that execution
one thing i dont think you mentioned for Kaede is the fact one part about playing concerts that made it better for her is seeing everyone smiles, so her "playing" badly and everyone booing her could coexist similar emotions that lead to the despair, very similar to Kirumi's exuction with everyone yelling at her to quit her job as shes prouded herself on her abilities as a maid (as started in a free time event when Saihara wants to hire her) but Kirumi's selfless devotion she also prides herself on makes her press herself thru the booing crowd and reach the thorn rope she climbs.
Isn't that Korekiyos?
I always thought that Gonta's execution was set in the wild west because there are no bugs there, but now that I think about it there probably are
If you ever have time, look up giant desert centipedes. I think even Gonta would be scared of them. 😂😭
the last execution just brok my heart, poor k1-b0
It Was only an Execution for Tsumugi..Kibo technically did the Robot Equivalent of Suicide...
When the piano starts spinning monokuma stops bringing kaede down
I couldn’t help but cry and begged for it to stop at Kaito’s execution. The smile on his face I just couldn’t take it. Just seeing my comfort character die was so sad
But knowing he planned the timing well about his illness to stop Monokuma's execution was the toughest thing he ever done
Crying is for the weak
I just noticed this, but the way Tsumugi turns back into her normal look resembles how Junko's face appears bored right before the crusher hits her. Their facial expressions even match up pretty well
Insert obligatory first comment. Anyways thank you for posting! I love that you've been posting more. I always missed your videos and hope you have more videos to come, no matter the subject matter.
Finally the bell works! Love your content!
imagine being so messed up that monokuma's like "nah you're dying twice bitch lmao"
Then kaedes execution is the most brutal one
Kaedes is DEFINITELY the most brutal, to me at least, I think her just being hung and thrown around is so painful???? And then realizing that she died, when she wasn't even the true culprit
@@sandz2926 yes. If you listen closely you'll hear innocent in her execution. Which represents that she was framed.
@@kirago7580 u here it in leons execution too! and the end
Weeby being the eye at 0:17 "I pretend not to see"
No worries yo, I always love to see your analysis videos!
So, when will there be V3 unused execution.
There are V3 unused executions?
@@spotlightanimation6719 maybee, there are actual drawings from it, it might be custom execution but who knows.
@@spotlightanimation6719 yep
@@Clubfilipino2008 from my understanding, there are no V3 executions that were unused (or at least none that have been confirmed) .There are fanmade executions for a few of V3 kids made by an artist called riyuta however, to which I believe are the drawings your talking about.
@@rion_zen my other reply said it might be custom but i dont really have a clear mind of it.
cw: detailed depictions of torture
im pretty sure korekiyos is not only the most emotionally painful exucution, but also tge most physically painful one. being boiled alive is a *horrific* way to go. it is long and drawn out, and can last from minutes to hours. the steam you inhale causes every breath to put you in even more pain, burning your throat and lungs. your skin will peel away from your body and even fuse with your clothes. not only will your skin be burned, but the heat will cause the liquid inside your body to heat up and cook your organs, fat, everything inside you aswell. korekiyo was likely bleeding from the eyes because they were also being cooked alive from the steam (and i heard that similar things happen in electric chaur exucutions, because your body is essentially burning aswell. electric chair is also a horrific way to go). he mightve even smelt himself cooking, imagine smelling yourself cooking likea turkey in the oven while your in excruciating pain? heres my source, if you wanna read even more about what its like to burn alive m.ranker.com/list/what-being-boiled-is-like/laura-allan
oh, also, gontas was pretty bad too. i forgot all the details but being stabbed through the chest like that causes much more pain then you might think, and it also wouldnt kill you immediately, so he also felt the burning aswell. i acknowledge gonta did something wrong, he took a life (not really but yknow), but did he really deserve all that??? poor gonta, his trail and exucution is so fucking sad
I need help, I want to watch dangaronpa or however you spell it but idk where the hell to start- like it literally saids there's 50 something seasons LOL.
Kaede... Wherever you are, we just want to say... You did it! You did caught the Mastermind ❤️😢
I can’t get over the fact that I watched her videos for the other 2 games and right when I finished the second video, I got this notification
I did some research into korekiyo’s- and it would’ve possibly taken up to twenty hours to boil him? Idk
OH MY GOD THATS HORRIBLE, YES HE KILLED A LOT OF PEOPLE BUT OWUDNWJSGWKHD W H A T
I think maybe the pain would go numb after a couple half hours but that’s still cringeworthy (I cringe at the thought of extreme pain lol)

I wish when kaito’s execution said it failed, meant it wouldn’t kill him. I really liked kaito, he was a good guy
