I feel like for Gundham's execution for when the animals lift him up to Heaven is also supposed to be apart of Gundham's despair, as he sees himself as his evil God and stuff and probably wanted to go to Hell, but instead because of his kind deeds, he's forced up into heaven. We don't exactly see Gundham smile when this happens, neither when he's being pulled up or when he's shown in the sky.

The only detail on Monomi’s execution that I always notice now, is that when Hajime gets grazed by a bullet from the Gatling Gun it cuts him in the same place that Izuzu was shot in Episode 7 of Despair Arc.

One thing I wanna point out is at the start of chiaki's execution, it is space invaders. In Danganronpa 3, she talks to Hajime about how it was a total classic and talked about how much she loved the game. I think those two things could be linked, like monokuma wanted to make her feel despair for a game she loved so deeply when she was alive.
I feel like Teru’s execution is really underrated, you have this character who wants to ignore his status as a country bumpkin in a small town, so much that he hates fast food altogether. He thinks it’s disgusting because fast food is something cheaply made for convenience, and people don’t really care about how it’s made. Not to mention that the beginning is practically a copy of Leon’s, to the point that he’s strapped to a pole after being yanked by a chain around his neck. Teruteru wants to be the opposite of plain, but his execution is an execution that’s already been done and made into something with virtually no effort.
Mikan’s execution be like: *What Shall We Do With A Drunken Sailor begins playing* “Ahoy, Hajime! I’ve overdosed on ketamine and now I’m going to die! Argharghargharghar!”

Speaking of Chiaki and Monomi's execution, there's a part of it where they run into a glass wall and slide off it. I always interpreted it as them running into the forth wall (the invisible wall between fiction and reality that the audience sees through). Them failing to break it could symbolise their (or more specifically Chiaki's) disconnect from the other students (since she's an AI and not a real person). She's trapped in a fictional environment both in the sense that she's stuck in her videogame inspired punishment and also that she only exists inside the Neo World Program. And unlike how the surviving students later have the option to realise an exit to the simulation and manage to escape to the real world, Chiaki is unable to escape to reality due to her being an AI. That's how I interpret it anyway.
I guess the invisible wall also kind of plays into the video game aspect too. There's always an invisible wall in games to stop you from accessing an area you need to unlock or to prevent you from falling off the map. My interpretation of it is the invisible wall stopping Chiaki escaping her execution, showing that escaping Monokuma's punishment is impossible even for an AI

I may be stretching too far, but another thing I've noticed in Teruteru's execution is that it could be possibly refering to the "throwing a virgin in a volcano", as a stereotypical sacrifice used in shows. Like, he's a pervert, often talking about sex, and it would be ironic to consider that Monokuma was also trying to call him a virgin, which would probably offend him considering his overall attitude.
also i feel like the diner style food could be a reference to his mom's diner! the images shown of his mother are always in a typical japanese diner style restaurant, so turning him into a dish typical from that sort of establishment makes sense!
I also thought: For Teruteru, the reason they chose that dish is in large part because he vehemently denied his more home-classic origins, both in his way of speaking and in trying to make fancier foods. Turning him into a simple, easy-to-find dish references his origins and that in death he won't have any dignity. For Mikan I feel like the more straightforward reason for her being so... happy is enjoying her despair as she has returned to the Ultimate Despair.
Something I feel like not many people mention is that Chiaki’s execution also heavily foreshadows the fact that she was just an A.I. who’s forever tied to the virtual world. Just when she thought she would be able to escape with Monomi, she was doomed to still be stuck within the game (as seen when she slams into the glass wall, which also happens to be presented in a way to look like our screen that we’re playing on).
Also not a lot of people mention that Tetris was the only game that Chiaki couldn’t beat, since she was able to beat every other game she played she was able to escape dying from them
The bandages could also imply that mikan used drugs, she was the ultimate nurse and we know from the anime that she carries syringes with her and her execution symbolises her last and greatest high, but I'm not too sure on this theory
she also has a weird obsession with shots. It would make since if she had overshot a dosage of something on herself when she was younger, being self taught and all that, causing an addiction. It also wouldn't seem weird if she carried specific drugs with her, cause she's just 'prepared for an emergency' long story short: I like this theory a lot
One detail about Chiaki's execution that I often don't see many touch upon is the little fact that when the last piece falls it doesn't form a tetris as the straight block is only three lines tall. This could be due to fear of some sort of copyright problem or just a little way for Monokuma to mock Chiaki one last time.
Peko's execution was the one with the most despair, when she finally found out that she wasn't actually a tool to her master, but instead was one of Fuyuhiko's greatest friends, she had to die, and during her execution before her last moments, she died thinking she hurt someone very dear to her both mentally and physically.
I Adore how in the first death when she is going to guard the door, someone asks "what will you do if monokuma comes and tries to attack? (or something)" and she says "ill just run as fast as i can." which is exactly what she does when the exit door is revealed. She ran as fast as she could
For Gundham’s execution, a hypothesis I had for his circle was that he was trying to communicate/apologize to Nekomaru in his last minute of life for killing him. And him being lifted to heaven was a result of that indicating that Gundham wanted to be a good person despite his evilish attitude. He doesn’t really look up with happiness or despair when he’s being carried up. He just has a blank look. That made me think that despite him wanting to be good, he genuinely thought that he was innately evil, so he didn’t know how to react when he saw he was allowed to go to heaven. It was just a thought I had when I first saw it.

I think he made it for himself and because Sd2 is in a computer, monokuma made it seam like it worked, just for it to backfire
Ayyy execution fun fact. When you hear "reach for the stars" In an execution, it means the murder was set up by someone else, or that they weren't the killer. A example of this is TeruTerus, you can hear it in the beginning.
Well the reason why, is that if you count the votes in Chapter 3 its implied Korekiyo didn't vote. So he not only got punished for being the murderer, and for not voting. So he got executed twice, physically and spiritually.
Execution of Monomi in my opinion: One of the things that makes students afraid of Monokuma is its power and control over where they are, making students kill each other, and THIS form of intimidation is very different from that of Trigger Happy Havoc, in the first game Monokuma gives very vague information about what the Class Trial would be like so Sayaka just thought it was killing someone to be able to leave, that also together with Monokuma exploding after Mondo punched him. In the second game, however, he goes directly to use firearms to let the students know that Monokuma is powerful, using Monomi for that was, apart from the relationship between the two of Monokuma always attacking Monomi, a way for the students to realize that the only person willing to help the students was brutally killed, it was done with many effects and cuts to make the scene more frantic.

This in opinion is a fitting execution for Mikan considering her backstory cause i feel like every single one has a meaning behind them while relating to what that blackened hates.

What I always liked to think was that during Gundams execution he was trying to use his magic to see his hamsters one last time. I don't think he was trying to just save himself since he did except his fate, but maybe he just wanted one last glimpse at the animals he held so dear to his heart.
Nekomaru saving Akane could be a reference to Piccalo saving young Gohan in Dragon Ball Z since they both jump in the way of giant blasts to save someone they care about
I interpreted Mikan's as She's a remnant of despair now anyways, might as well make her feel the despair of having a "disappointing and short" execution, rather than the ones that, "sent the others off with a bang".
There's even some interesting irony in Monomi and Akane's "executions". Monomi hates violence, so her execution is from an actual weapon that could be used in warfare. Note Monokuma wildly moving his arm like a general ordering to fire. As for Akane, the entire scene is a reference to Piccolo saving Gohan from an energy blast in Dragon Ball Z. Monokuma suddenly taking out a bazooka to kill her seems like a wink to how characters in shonen battles suddenly unveil new powers that might feel overpowered or cheating.
The monomi prologue execution (I call it "Machine Gun With Bunny Ears") refferences the anime cuz once hajime's shot in the cheek his eyes change to izuru's, because izuru was also shot in the cheek
It can't really be a reference to the anime, since the game came out before the series. The scene in the anime is probably a reference to the cutscene.

a few things :3 - in mikan's execution, she derived pleasure from the arm pulsing (which as aforementioned, signifies the trauma/abuse she endured). i think this incapsulates her relationship with junko, as well as her behavior as a despair. - when chiaki races towards the exit, this is meant to give the player false hope, as makoto (who was an innocent party, like chiaki) had been miraculously saved from his execution in the first game, which also happened to take place in the 5th chapter.
Here are some additions (that could be wrong): -during machine gun with bunny ears, a slowed down version of dangan island plays (2x the sad piano) -The fact that Hajime was slightly off being shot tells him that this is real life. (Well at least at the time)
An ironic aspect of Peko's execution is out of all of the executions in the series its the one where the victim would want it the least, Mahiru literally died standing up against revenge and killing people for their crimes and Monokuma essentially disregarded her final wish (jeeeeez)

After the class reps murder eachother, one lifts his gun and shoots, grazing Kamakura in a similair fashion. I think this is a subtle hint to Hajimes' "real" personality, especially since that moment from the anime is the first time Kamakura understands why despair is more interesting than hope.
I really like Mikans execution because it shows her personality so well. Hanging out with mikan is uncomfortable, with her intensely skittish, overly lewd, and just general moods wings of hers. The way she gets so haply at the slight est praise, just to have a meltdown at a small criticism. Her execution is uncomfortable, just like she is.
Is it possible that the arm we see in Mikan's execution is actually... Junko's? Since we later see a giant Junko as the final boss. It could represent how Mikan is being led astray by the very person she adores so much.

The arm might have been an early reference to Nagito and how he replaced his arm with Junko's. Since Mikan replaced her womb with Junko's womb, the two have that same "I took this part from Junko" thing going on. It's foreshadowing Nagito.
As someone who just recently finished DR 2, Mikan's execution could've been so much better. I was imagining some kind of surgery being botched with big needles and sharp objects and such stabbing into her. The issue wasn't necessarily the content of her actual execution, the run time suffered as well. It felt like her execution left a lot to be desired. Let's say the execution is mostly the same (big arm shooting into space with her riding it) and the camera flashes back to Mikan in bed drooling in ecstasy, and the camera pans toward the vital signs monitor as her heart beats fast until she flatlines and dies. Although it wouldn't fix her execution, it would certainly add to the idea she died because of the lethal injection.

The reason why i think the circle is for Gundham’s hamsters is because of something he said to Sonia. “Sonia.. An act as unrefined as stopping a man from going to his death.. does not befit a noble such as yourself.” We also see him accepting and even telling Monokuma to begin his punishment. If he was truly ready to accept his death, why would he cast a spell to protect himself? We also know that the four dark devas of destruction are very important to him, as seen throughout the game. It would make sense that he would protect them in his final moments. I agree with you that it makes sense that he would cast the spell to save himself in order to further push his message, and it would be just like Monokuma to trick him into thinking that it would work, just to have him die anyway. I think it may be possible that he was casting the spell to protect himself and those he cared about, but it didn't work (on him, at least), though this is purely a guess, and I have no evidence to prove it. I'm probably going to return to this and make sure I have my points right when I have more brain cells lmao

I feel like the reason for the alchemist circle in Gundham's execution was to send him back to "Pandaemonium". His persona as a evil overlord who will return back into the darkness was the actual opposite of who he really was. So monokuma basically treated him opposite to how he wanted to die. He wanted to die and return to "Pandaemonium" via the alchemist circle when in reality he died and wemt the heaven the complete opposite of his persona.

I feel like Teru’s execution is really underrated, you have this character who wants to ignore his status as a country bumpkin in a small town, so much that he hates fast food altogether. He thinks it’s disgusting because fast food is something cheaply made for convenience, and people don’t really care about how it’s made. Not to mention that the beginning is practically a copy of Leon’s, to the point that he’s strapped to a pole after being yanked by a chain around his neck. Teruteru wants to be the opposite of plain, but his execution is an execution that’s already been done and made into something with virtually no effort.

Speaking of Chiaki and Monomi's execution, there's a part of it where they run into a glass wall and slide off it. I always interpreted it as them running into the forth wall (the invisible wall between fiction and reality that the audience sees through). Them failing to break it could symbolise their (or more specifically Chiaki's) disconnect from the other students (since she's an AI and not a real person). She's trapped in a fictional environment both in the sense that she's stuck in her videogame inspired punishment and also that she only exists inside the Neo World Program. And unlike how the surviving students later have the option to realise an exit to the simulation and manage to escape to the real world, Chiaki is unable to escape to reality due to her being an AI. That's how I interpret it anyway.

There's always an invisible wall in games to stop you from accessing an area you need to unlock or to prevent you from falling off the map. My interpretation of it is the invisible wall stopping Chiaki escaping her execution, showing that escaping Monokuma's punishment is impossible even for an AI

I may be stretching too far, but another thing I've noticed in Teruteru's execution is that it could be possibly refering to the "throwing a virgin in a volcano", as a stereotypical sacrifice used in shows. Like, he's a pervert, often talking about sex, and it would be ironic to consider that Monokuma was also trying to call him a virgin, which would probably offend him considering his overall attitude.

For Teruteru, the reason they chose that dish is in large part because he vehemently denied his more home-classic origins, both in his way of speaking and in trying to make fancier foods. Turning him into a simple, easy-to-find dish references his origins and that in death he won't have any dignity.
For Mikan I feel like the more straightforward reason for her being so... happy is enjoying her despair as she has returned to the Ultimate Despair.

Something I feel like not many people mention is that Chiaki’s execution also heavily foreshadows the fact that she was just an A.I. who’s forever tied to the virtual world. Just when she thought she would be able to escape with Monomi, she was doomed to still be stuck within the game (as seen when she slams into the glass wall, which also happens to be presented in a way to look like our screen that we’re playing on).
Also not a lot of people mention that Tetris was the only game that Chiaki couldn’t beat, since she was able to beat every other game she played she was able to escape dying from them

It also wouldn't seem weird if she carried specific drugs with her, cause she's just 'prepared for an emergency'

One detail about Chiaki's execution that I often don't see many touch upon is the little fact that when the last piece falls it doesn't form a tetris as the straight block is only three lines tall. This could be due to fear of some sort of copyright problem or just a little way for Monokuma to mock Chiaki one last time.

Peko's execution was the one with the most despair, when she finally found out that she wasn't actually a tool to her master, but instead was one of Fuyuhiko's greatest friends, she had to die, and during her execution before her last moments, she died thinking she hurt someone very dear to her both mentally and physically.

I Adore how in the first death when she is going to guard the door, someone asks "what will you do if monokuma comes and tries to attack? (or something)" and she says "ill just run as fast as i can." which is exactly what she does when the exit door is revealed. She ran as fast as she could

For Gundham’s execution, a hypothesis I had for his circle was that he was trying to communicate/apologize to Nekomaru in his last minute of life for killing him. And him being lifted to heaven was a result of that indicating that Gundham wanted to be a good person despite his evilish attitude. He doesn’t really look up with happiness or despair when he’s being carried up. He just has a blank look. That made me think that despite him wanting to be good, he genuinely thought that he was innately evil, so he didn’t know how to react when he saw he was allowed to go to heaven. It was just a thought I had when I first saw it.

Well the reason why, is that if you count the votes in Chapter 3 its implied Korekiyo didn't vote. So he not only got punished for being the murderer, and for not voting. So he got executed twice, physically and spiritually.

Execution of Monomi in my opinion:
One of the things that makes students afraid of Monokuma is its power and control over where they are, making students kill each other, and THIS form of intimidation is very different from that of Trigger Happy Havoc, in the first game Monokuma gives very vague information about what the Class Trial would be like so Sayaka just thought it was killing someone to be able to leave, that also together with Monokuma exploding after Mondo punched him. In the second game, however, he goes directly to use firearms to let the students know that Monokuma is powerful, using Monomi for that was, apart from the relationship between the two of Monokuma always attacking Monomi, a way for the students to realize that the only person willing to help the students was brutally killed, it was done with many effects and cuts to make the scene more frantic.

Another feature of Peko's execution is that it injures Fuyuhiko in a way that reflects his real-world body -- the way he replaced his own eye with Junko's.
Monomi's first execution also shares this feature, but I don't know if that injury of Hajime's was depicted in DR2, or if that was wholly invented by the DR3 anime.

What I always liked to think was that during Gundams execution he was trying to use his magic to see his hamsters one last time. I don't think he was trying to just save himself since he did except his fate, but maybe he just wanted one last glimpse at the animals he held so dear to his heart.
Nekomaru saving Akane could be a reference to Piccalo saving young Gohan in Dragon Ball Z since they both jump in the way of giant blasts to save someone they care about

There's even some interesting irony in Monomi and Akane's "executions".
Monomi hates violence, so her execution is from an actual weapon that could be used in warfare. Note Monokuma wildly moving his arm like a general ordering to fire.
As for Akane, the entire scene is a reference to Piccolo saving Gohan from an energy blast in Dragon Ball Z. Monokuma suddenly taking out a bazooka to kill her seems like a wink to how characters in shonen battles suddenly unveil new powers that might feel overpowered or cheating.

a few things :3
- in mikan's execution, she derived pleasure from the arm pulsing (which as aforementioned, signifies the trauma/abuse she endured). i think this incapsulates her relationship with junko, as well as her behavior as a despair.
- when chiaki races towards the exit, this is meant to give the player false hope, as makoto (who was an innocent party, like chiaki) had been miraculously saved from his execution in the first game, which also happened to take place in the 5th chapter.
Here are some additions (that could be wrong):
-during machine gun with bunny ears, a slowed down version of dangan island plays (2x the sad piano)
-The fact that Hajime was slightly off being shot tells him that this is real life. (Well at least at the time)
An ironic aspect of Peko's execution is out of all of the executions in the series its the one where the victim would want it the least, Mahiru literally died standing up against revenge and killing people for their crimes and Monokuma essentially disregarded her final wish (jeeeeez)

Izuru in the anime. After the class reps murder eachother, one lifts his gun and shoots, grazing Kamakura in a similair fashion. I think this is a subtle hint to Hajimes' "real" personality, especially since that moment from the anime is the first time Kamakura understands why despair is more interesting than hope.
I really like Mikans execution because it shows her personality so well. Hanging out with mikan is uncomfortable, with her intensely skittish, overly lewd, and just general moods wings of hers. The way she gets so haply at the slight est praise, just to have a meltdown at a small criticism. Her execution is uncomfortable, just like she is.
Is it possible that the arm we see in Mikan's execution is actually... Junko's? Since we later see a giant Junko as the final boss. It could represent how Mikan is being led astray by the very person she adores so much.

The arm might have been an early reference to Nagito and how he replaced his arm with Junko's. Since Mikan replaced her womb with Junko's womb, the two have that same "I took this part from Junko" thing going on. It's foreshadowing Nagito.
As someone who just recently finished DR 2, Mikan's execution could've been so much better. I was imagining some kind of surgery being botched with big needles and sharp objects and such stabbing into her. The issue wasn't necessarily the content of her actual execution, the run time suffered as well. It felt like her execution left a lot to be desired.
Let's say the execution is mostly the same (big arm shooting into space with her riding it) and the camera flashes back to Mikan in bed drooling in ecstasy, and the camera pans toward the vital signs monitor as her heart beats fast until she flatlines and dies. Although it wouldn't fix her execution, it would certainly add to the idea she died because of the lethal injection.

Maybe the dish Teruteru’s execution is based around was one of TeruTerus moms favorite dishes to cook/eat? It’d be a reminder of how he failed to see his mother again before dying, which would also fill him with despair
The reason why i think the circle is for Gundham’s hamsters is because of something he said to Sonia.
“Sonia.. An act as unrefined as stopping a man from going to his death.. does not befit a noble such as yourself.”
We also see him accepting and even telling Monokuma to begin his punishment. If he was truly ready to accept his death, why would he cast a spell to protect himself?
We also know that the four dark devas of destruction are very important to him, as seen throughout the game. It would make sense that he would protect them in his final moments.
I agree with you that it makes sense that he would cast the spell to save himself in order to further push his message, and it would be just like Monokuma to trick him into thinking that it would work, just to have him die anyway.
I think it may be possible that he was casting the spell to protect himself and those he cared about, but it didn't work (on him, at least), though this is purely a guess, and I have no evidence to prove it.

When I played 2, I thought that the executions were a step down from 1 but this video made me like and understand them a bit more
Fun fact! With Teruterus execution in the manga, earlier you can see that his mother giving him his scarf and in the execution (manga) you can see before he dies the scarf flies off so he loses all memory of her with getting to know what happened to her

For mikan's execution, i like to believe whatever was in that injection caused her "excited" state- so when she was blasted off, her whole body would be on fire after that "excitement"
I really liked all these executions (Mikan's is wishy washy) though Gundham's will always be the saddest to me.
Gundham did use the circle to protect his hamsters, because he didn’t want them to die. He wasn’t protecting his self because if he was it would of worked, he wasn’t trying to fight back because he knew he’ll have to face worst so he knew he had to die. So the whole point was, Gundham used the spell to protect his hamsters

Something I believe you missed about Teruteru's execution is the famous "island savage tribe" trope of throwing a virgin into a volcano to appease the gods, since teruteru has the whole obnoxious overly sexual conduct, I believe it was a way of also unmasking his whole, and I quote, "fuck boi facade"
I heard that in Chiaki’s execution where she’s crushed with a Tetris block its meant to reference that Tetris was the first and last game that she ever lost but I’m not sure if it’s true
Gundham’s execution came up and despite me knowing what happens, when the Devas come up to him, I just started fucking bawling. Shit like that gets me everytime😩

They should have called Teruteru's execution "Teruteru Tonkatsu".
I feel like the reason for the alchemist circle in Gundham's execution was to send him back to "Pandaemonium". His persona as a evil overlord who will return back into the darkness was the actual opposite of who he really was. So monokuma basically treated him opposite to how he wanted to die. He wanted to die and return to "Pandaemonium" via the alchemist circle when in reality he died and wemt the heaven the complete opposite of his persona.
