Cathay Pacific pilots/crews: where are they from?

- Hello everyone and how do you do? Ever wondered where all the crews/pilots come from in airlines? In this clip I give you some insight into the diversity that we have in Cathay Pacific. We come from all parts of the world, different nationalities, all coming together to do a professional job of aviation safely for passenger and cargo operations. On this turnaround flight to Chongqing, we were in a Boeing 747-400ERF in which I was conducting an annual standardisation check flight on the Captain who in turn was also conducting an annual line check on the First Officer. Captain Steefan VW is also an instructor/training Captain and as such has to be checked every alternate annual line check, by a standards officer like myself.
Hope you like the banter after we shutdown on our return to Hong Kong this morning. Chi Di Gin! Later!✈️✈️✈️✈️
Bro looks like he flies the 747 without hydraulic actuators
Hold the yoke like a sedan steering wheel.
And with that gorgeous English accent, Tom sounds so classy - as an Irish gay man myself I’d date him 🇮🇪☘️🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Not allowed to fly an Airbus. The sidestick isn't strong enough.
No need for a pushback tug when he’s around
@@CineZoneYT and no need for central heating if I was cuddled up in bed with this gorgeous real life big teddy bear as my boyfriend/husband - I’d happily date him in a heartbeat ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This guy powers the 747
Tom's handy to have around whenever they have to kick-start the 747 or perform a manual pushback.
He could crank the APU by hand.
Tom's the kind of guy you send to the back when there's a rowdy passenger to deal with
@@BigTyltOr to balance the centre of gravity
Aaahahhahab love your humour and 😂❤
Or if a deranged passenger is abusing the cabin crew.
Tom is the only pilot that can tell chuck norris to put his seatbelt on.
That’s funny!
This comment wins!!
Wouldn’t be worried about a hydraulic failure with Tom on the controls!!
He does not need no hydraulic )
This guy's gonna rip the yoke right out if he sneezes! 😂
thats the biggest pilot ive ever seen
Yeah, me too. Not, even in person or a movie .
@@robynlea6950 there was one at virgin a few years ago even bigger still
Shawn Brian should become a pilot so we can get a new record@@boeingbwoy
Dude's really the bouncer of the plane, kicks out the rowdy passengers off the plane! How does he even fit in the cockpit seats, those things are tight!
Same here! Would totally feel at ease with him at the controls.
He throws the plane to its destination. Helps save fuel
You just can tell that South African captain is a character to fly with.
So Tom should fly the MAX. He could overpower the runaway trim
wild 💀
Wdym
Nice professional pilots giving an example of what harmonious working atmosphere should be!!
Pilots come in all shapes and form but I never expected to see Kratos flying planes 🤣
Cathay pilots rock! My uncle Gary was a 747 captain with Cathay for 30+ years after leaving the Australian Air Force, loved hearing all his stories flying into the old Kai tak Hong Kong!
Showed up my feed and really enjoyed hearing how folks began their careers. Best to all of you! Safe travels!
Ha! Now that’s a classic crew compliment right there. Tom is one big dude and Steefan has some wild hair going on 😂😂😂 They seem like a couple of great guys to fly with. Good for you Capt Obet! Thank you for sharing.
Tom was my first officer for flight CX163 from Hong Kong to Melbourne and I thought I’d recognised him 😂
That FO is The FLY By Wire 🤣🤣🤣💪🏾💪🏾
747´s need a lot of muscles 😅
He’s probably on steroids
its an obvious use of steroids haha@@evanthedrummer7800
@@evanthedrummer7800 how does that come here?
I think his name is James Hollingshead, he's a UK bodybuilder.
These guys are great. 👍
Cooool crew, great interview!! 😎 Big plane, big pilot!! 💪👍
My goodness! it's Popeye the Flyer man! Good luck to you all and thanks for such a professional cockpit interview to the whole crew!
Tom benches the 747.
Great video Captain. Always top notch
Captain was leaving Sydney yesterday for Melbourne and saw a CX cargo 747. Do you get down to Aus once in a while? Later
Great video Commander. Nice!
Love this!!
What absolute professionals.
Damn Tom was jacked! 😂 wow! Also I loved the humbleness from this guy. Also he has great taste in planes! The 747 and 777 are just gorgeous beauties. The captain was almost reminding me of doc brown but I bet he’s soooo cool. He seemed nice. The master himself Obet behind the lens just makes it even more cool 🤘🏾👍🏾👊🏾
absolute unit
Love your video’s, I’ve watched them all and enjoy learning from you. Can’t wait to fly some day with you Captain! Happy flying ✈️
Some of my favourite Obet videos are of the people who fly the 747. The aircraft is amazing and meeting the different professionals who operate it are just as wonderful. Good luck to you all.
Great airline, when I lived in Hong King flew them regularly!
Great chat,Commander Obet thank you
Nice to know he trained at Southend airport my local :)
A pro body builder and a pilot... That's quite the combo
great crew !
CA: "I'm sorry, but you failed your linecheck"
FO: "Nope, I passed it 💪💪"
CA: "Congratulations, you passed your linecheck"
Hahaha!!! 🙌🏻
I saw you on just planes obet!
You seem wonderful and a very good pilot 🤙🤙
Years of flying heavy’s without hydraulics. Success Tom!
the minute i saw Stefan, i knew :D Lekker to see he flew in the Air Force too
I lived Sai Kung surrounded by Cathey pilots 1983, I remember enjoying cockpit landing at Bangkok in a Tristar the captain was Kias StGeorge wonderful memories
When he flies..every passenger behaves!!😎💝
Troublesome passenger, Steward gets on PA, " Paging Pilot Tom to Seat 52B to deal with a passenger" :)
Class video! Hes got to be the most jacked pilot out there
And the competition is tough ! Plenty of big units up there
He’s just a weakest 747 pilot. 😏
Definitely the biggest Pilot I've seen, Tom. Love you guys ❤ Looking forward to being like you guys up the ladder. Currently a few hours away from my CPL. Thanks for all you do Pilot Obet.
Tom is not like your average delivery guy, what a muscles bro has 😅
Best wishes to Tom from Southend.
That guys hand 🖐🏻😮
Well tom is the guy when a passenger get rowdy
If the plane runs out of fuel mid flight, Tom will keep it in the sky with the sheer power of his biceps
Hello from Bangkok 😊
Plane dooesn't lift him, he lifts the plane
That FO is super-yoked! 😂😂😂
Good to have him around if the Jack is broken and you need to change a tire.
This guy powers up the engine, not the APU, he's massive!
Tom just fits in the cockpit.
He gives " manual flight" another meaning.
The Captain looks like a university professor who teaches literature and who gets terribly happy when he finally finds a perfect poem. The First Officer looks like one of those giant Emirates planes on UA-cam that land like polar bears who are also professional ballerinas. I am sure this crew can also turn a giant aircraft into a delicate snowflake quietly descending from the sky. I am going to fly Cathay Pacific business class this year. Already excited about the food and the landing. I am sure both will be luxurious and divine. Check your passenger lists! When you see my name there, do your very best! And maybe invite me to the flight deck! Okay, I'll stop being obnoxious now. Just looking forward to my Cathay experience. You have a very good reputation.
He is an item on the loading sheet. Heavy guy
Tom, god damn those biceps!
I'm suprised Tom could even fit in a c152 hahaha
probably wasn't this big back then. 😂😂😂
haha you're probably right@@naumansajid8630
Miss you Obet 😊
"Turn on the afterburners..." - Captain Optimus Prime
Tom must have been much smaller when he did his PPL, no way this unit of a man can fit now in a c152 😂
Great video. From PPL to a 747-8 in less than 13 years, that's good.
That’s how you look, when you don’t trim 💪😎
Great video!
This guy can fly Cable any day!!
Bro is a whole unit
Tom....woof!! Gorgeous muscle Bear 🐻
This is your Captain Tom speaking…..”Yes Sir”
A buff pilot is a safe pilot.
I question your logic.
So skinnny people aren’t safe 😂?
until he finishes his steroids and become depressed
bro is gonna have heart problems wdym safe
steroided you mean
i began in the t6 at corpus christi NAAS in 1991
Q: "Hi, Tom, in your career til nowadays, have you participated on many CRM's courses?
Tom: "...I didn't a lot 'cause crew members usually get friend of myself with easy!". Good flights for all!🤭😀🇧🇷
Tom is the walking CG (Center of Gravity) for the airplane
❤
Tom looks like he’d be cracking jokes in the cockpit during flight 😂
When Tom tells me to turn off my electronics, I turn them off, remove the battery, and toss the entire device out the window.
Those Air hostess must have been having an overtime feeding the guy😂
I can ensure if any passenger trying to makes things, seen Tom to walked out from the cockpit, they will sit the hell back and being silent.😂😂😂
Small world … I was in the same class in high school than the captain in 1989 - DF Malan in Bellville.
I fly out of Shoreham and Perth and my X-Country will be to Southend. (I'm also a RAF Air Cadet)
Tom is so buff😲
Tom could have kept the door plug plugged in by hand
That incredible pilot can load ULD’s on top of his shoulder. Lovely to hear the first solo, I did mine on a C150, never forgets that day 35 years ago
6:17 ...✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️😁😁😁
what ever happened to "Wild Bill"? Test Pilot. you guys are a hoot!
Tom!! Tom!!
👨🏻✈️💪🏻😄
Tom is so big, he could replace the APU 🤣
His laugh 😂
I think that pilot is the airplane’s right engine
When he tells you to put your seatbelt, you gotta put it on!!
He doesn't fly the plane, he IS the plane!
He is the APU.
😂
The wings don't provide the lift, Tom does.
Didnt know kratos was a pilot😅
Now THAT is a wide body
1:43 ...🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺👍👍👍
I guess Tom uses a pen to program the FMS
LMAO right
my friend ig from ZA also flies cathy freighters
