And they’re quite accurate! My brother changed bases and moved to the capital where i live. Obviously, since he didn’t think ahead and thought he’d get to stay wherever he was before, he didn’t have anywhere to stay (he didn’t want to pay for crew apartments). So he hogged my house. This man was awake at 3 am, left the house at 4am, got back at 9pm, ate then slept all to repeat it. My guy was running out of the house with his breakfast once!

So I made sure everything was ready to go... then our son decided not to go. Disappointing, but our son is a hard working young man trying to maintain his work-life balance. There's something incredibly satisfying about the entire process of turning aircraft, and knowing that your effort made a difference to a lot of people, even if they don't know it. The 90 min call would be what we call at my cargo airline a hot reserve. You are on that 90 minute leash for 8 hours at a time, then on a rest period. You're not on that leash 24/7.
My airline is a 60 minute leash for hot but that is for domestic, not international.
Some people bid hot reserve at a base where they live, so they can be at home instead of in a hotel. Kelsey is a fairly new captain so he's low on the captain seniority list, thus he will get stuck with the schedules that those with more seniority don't want. Hope this helps.
