I am an old 84 year old white woman that heard this when it was first made . I cried then and I cry now when I hear it. God bless you all.

I still cry every time I hear it’s!
What do you being white have to do with anything 🤨

No egos, selfishness, or hate. Just the biggest names in music, in one room, coming together for a worthy cause. It doesn't get any better than that.
I would agree with that for all of them other than Michael Jackson. I would not have had the balls to show up in diamond studded socks and gloves and a gold laced jacket to sing a song for people so poor that they don’t even have food. Everyone else is dressed normally, while he is in full makeup and that ridiculous getup, he did not leave his ego at the door.
@@williampaul7096falando merda
@@williampaul7096 Diamond studded? They're rhinestones and they're not worth anything. That was dressing normally for Michael. Do you have any idea how many hundreds of millions of dollars Michael gave to the people of Africa and everywhere else? No, you don't. You're just a hater. Who hurt you? You should talk to somebody.
@@williampaul7096 Mike just dressed how he usually does. cry about it.

Bruce Springsteen's voice in this song is as incredible as heartwarming!
OMG, yes, it is!!! Bruce and Ray Charles (with Stevie Wonder and James Ingram as close 2nds) really hit the song out of the park with their ad libs at the end of this song.
I can agree but what about Stevie’s vocals? He was amazing as a duo!
Diana and Michael singing together . The way it should always have been. ❤
If democrats and republicans could put aside their petty differences, we can have a better country. All that is happens are Americans are attacking one another. If we want a better country we need to as Americas first not parties.
@@Kfm7This will never happen because the beliefs of each are fundamentally different and aren't just petty.
Proud to be an 80s baby ❤️
Ditto!
This was the Royalty of the music world back then. It is my understanding that they not only donated their time and talent for this cause, but they worked through the entire night to get this done. After all, all of them were booked around the country and had busy schedules. I think it is fantastic that they made this happen!
Really iconic to see them sing together ❤️
This was done directly after an awards show because they knew everyone would be in town. They all skipped the after parties to get this done, and they all put their hearts into it.
@@rickf4545 Thanks for that. I knew it was something like that but wasn't why they were all there. appreciate the info.
@raymondcarver476 Amen!!! I think it's amazing what people can do when they work together in harmony, united by a common cause or purpose and that they did!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!
It was in 84 and the most notable absentee from the pop-world was Prince. It would've been fun to see David Lee Roth in there with a Eddie van Halen guitar solo mixed in later in the song though.
The artists/musicians of nowadays doesn't hold a candle to the legends of the 80s, 90s
NOT ONE NOT EVEN CLOSE I DEFINITELY AGREE
I wish the people of America coould return to this moment of global love and respect for all peoples.
I’m American and I completely agree with you!!
We do still feel like this in america. That is why we still fight in america. Even amongst ourselves.
Maybe the whole world should do the same

Super cool! Thanks for writing names!
This speaks to the soul.
Hatred can NEVER do what love can do ❤️
The 70's was all about love! There's more racism now then there was in the 70's. We had bigots not get me wrong, but nothing like today, we are much more divided now sadly.
dont*
@kathyvanhaitsma3232 you are so right because I was born in the 70's it was different I wise I could go back to that time.
Maybe one day, we'll all understand that we're FAR stronger together, than we are all alone. Thank you both for your reaction.
I think the world in general needs this song today.
AFRICA is where humans were born! The cradle of civilization, when they hurt we all hurt....LOVE from Pennsylvania, USA 💙💙💙
Much if Africa had been experiencing drought which led to failed crops which led go famine. In several nations there, people were literally starving to death.
In America, we awoke as a nation to the fact that we are blessed.
What was needed was a massive delivery of food to the areas were most affected.
But to buy that food and to ship it to the starving would cost money and a lot of it.
Musical artists set all differences aside, forgot about ego, and gathered as equals to do this as a fundraiser.
It raised millions and tons of food headed to the starving.
Soon after, the nation with the longest drought and most starving (Ethiopia) had its drought finally end. Across Africa, the response of people from the other continents not just America, provided hope in those dark days.
RIP Beautiful Tina Turner 💯✨🙏✨💞💖💞🌞🌻✨🙏✨✌️🇺🇲✌️
Hermoso himno a nuestros hermanos de África
as I get older it hits me that so many of them have passed away
An old song, but we need it right now. Much love from Sweden
I am a grown man, 50 years old and have watched may reactions to this masterpiece but I have never wept like I just did watching you both. I remember when it was released as a child and the struggle in Ethiopia then. It hit home then and still does now.
The 80s was the best time!!! USA for Africa, Band-Aid, Live Aid. Bob Geldhof was the genius behind it all. He made people care. Makes me hurt inside that we have gone backwards in America.
there’s simply just too much hate
80s was the best time? This song was wonderful it should also remind us that we were fortunate and to only be dealing with AIDS pandemic. Africans were literally starving to death. I envy people who were oblivious in those.
Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, who never seems to be given credit for his part in it all.
And Michael Buerk and his BBC camera crew.
@@MvtobeboExactly! And let’s throw in Chernobyl, the Iran-Contra affair, JAL flight 123, the crack epidemic, and a recession in there too.
The 80’s were not a good time.
It's a love song to the world. If we each send a word or gesture of kindness to everyone we meet we are saved from hate.
All of the proceeds' sales went to the wonderful people of Africa. Yes, they all made sacrifices in their busy schedules with concerts and shows because they all were singing artists, to make the songs and to raise money for the African nation.
This man changed the world. This was the most successful song of all time. He did it out of the goodness of his own heart. He donated all his earnings on every tour to charity. Apart from this and being the most beloved and famous person on earth...the man was exceptional, truly exceptional in everything he did. No wonder people fainted in his presence
Your beautiful and emotional reaction to this song brought me to tears. We can do so much better as humans by being kind to one another. God bless you lovely ladies today and always.
You are beautiful and not all of us have given up on those less fortunate. We love you.
THAT is true diversity. This was a huge thing back in the day, most people LOVED this. But it wasn't ABOUT that at all, it was about people coming together to help others.. and diverse people naturally came together, it was that simple, and it wasn't even long ago..... What happened to us? :/
Miss the way the world was when this song was made…we r so different now it makes me so sad to see the difference now
A special moment in time that can never be replicated. (Timeless. ) This was the beginning of the end of a golden era. Beautiful reaction ladies. “ We are the world. “ ,..and we must all work together. Thank you both!!!!
I doubt you'll ever see this, Starr. I'm sorry didn't see your reaction when you made it. All I need say is there is hope for the world with young people like you around... good luck in your life, and God Bless!
One of the greatest songs ever recorded.
They are two beautiful women and like what they are doing ❤❤😅
Thank you 😊
First, Quincy is genius.
Second, back then we were doing pretty good with coming together more. There were problems for sure, but things were improving until millennials and zoomers arrived and trashed all of the progress. Fire was stoked up and each group was told that the other hated them. It’s going to take generations to get back to the good progress that we were making in the 80’s and 90’s. Sorry to be a little negative, but I grew up in that era and loved the progress. At my school, we elected the very first black girl to be our prom queen. We were so proud of that. I know that doesn’t mean all problems were solved, but we were all getting closer and it breaks my heart to see all of that improvement is gone.
One world, one people, we need to live in love and peace
This is true we are the world we all need to get along with each other and have no hate in the world some day we should not have the hate we have now ❤😅😊
When this happened, I was a 10, maybe 11 or 12, year old dorky white kid in California. And I cried. And I still do. Part of it was I knew every single one of these performers, but more than that, it felt like changing the world for the better was possible. I haven't felt that way in a long time, but I still try to in my own small ways. I'm glad you two reacted to this. I sincerely hope that this wasn't the peak of the human species, of our potential, and ability to come together as one. But it's hard sometimes to believe that we will ever get back to this place. These reaction videos, from lots of different people from lots of different backgrounds, brings me hope.
I am of that generation - what we call GENX (born 1965-1980) - my proudest moment as an American - I remember working overtime at a store so I could send $50 (USD) to USA for Africa. I hope we get back to the mentality WE ARE THE WORLD.
Love your dresses Ladies ! You both as well.
I remember watching this and sending a donation. This was the top stars of every musical genre in the US. Ray Charles was as big as you can get. Tina Turner... I haven't heard this since back in the day. Thank you ladies, and the algorithm. I lived in South Africa for a short time in 2000. Love the continent!
We are the world
We need each other
We need to love, & respect each other. We are humanity
Promote love, abolish hate.
Absolutely drop-dead GORGEOUS sisters. All those talented singers are mostly gone- very sad. Most reactors have no idea who they all were. I got all of them right- except for one. Only 1 I didn't recognize right off the bat.
Thanks for your reaction to this song. Just to clarify, the USA was not the first to react and help the famine in Africa with their song here. They were 2nd!!! The United Kingdom needs to get credit, as singer Bob Geldoff got as many famous British artists together that he could, and they created the song DON THEY KNOW IT'S CHRISTMAS to help the people of Africa as there was a large famine in Ethiopia. The song was a HUGE hit in the UK, USA, and CANADA, and Michael Jackson and producer Quincey Jones, with the help of Lionel Richie, decided they wanted to do a song also to help. After the Grammy awards show on TV, they asked many of the artists at the award show if they would record this song together and this is the video you see after the award show was over. 👏 👏
CANADA soon followed with their own video also, featuring Canadian artists, called TEARS ARE NOT ENOUGH. Just a great effort that was then followed by all of the artists agreeing to participate in the world famous LIVE AID Concert for charity....showing how generous all these people were to helping the fight against famine in Africa.
I hope you watch the other song videos too, as they deserve the spotlight too for what they helped inspire ❤❤.
Thanks for your reaction. Keep smiling 🙂👍🇨🇦
And wasn't he accused of misappropriation of those funds?Geldof was not a good human being.
Why does it have to be a competition
@@mcdonoghrahloh459 and answer to that is no there is absolutely no proof in this … the BBC who alluded to this did come out and apologised … but of course once you start misinformation then it takes on a life if it’s own…
@@annemitchell6144 it’s not a competition but there is absolutely nothing wrong in stating the truth of how it started ….as from seeing many of these reactions they have no idea it was Bob Geldolf and Midge Ure Taft started the whole thing and especially Midge, who gets totally forgotten about
@@Dcs.234 Sure thing🥱 Just like Jimmy Savile hunh!
This song raise over $50 million dollars in 1985 for our African brothers and sisters!
Yes.listening to this song with you both makes it feel new again. A great effort by these artists to help the starving people of Ethiopia.
God Bless You Women you have a heart of love and compassion. Sometimes I wish I could give you a hug of kindness. You are beautiful inside and out you make me feel good.
Singers back then was a different breed of people who had love and compassion for everyone and other countries. I miss the unity they inspired us to not care about only ourselves. But to care about others who need love and compassion. I really miss Kenny Rogers he had a strong manly voice but yet a beautiful voice.
Great reaction! I couldn't have said it better. We are all blessed to be here as God's children and should be treating each other with the love and support this song gives us.
It's so sweet because the first time you reacted to this you cried the same way
Done for famine in Africa.
I was 15 years old when this song came out and I’ve been trying to live by that motto ever since it’s just amazing
!!! There´s a 2010 version of this, also very impressive and versatile. WE ARE THE WORLD 25 for HAITI !!! Watch! 🙂
When America thrives the world is a better place, love this song, it touches my soul
On the morning of April 5, 1985 (Good Friday of that year) at 3:50 pm GMT, over 8,000 radio stations simultaneously broadcast the song around the world. As the song was broadcast, hundreds of people sang along on the steps of St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York. We Are the World" raise more than $80 million ($222 million today) for humanitarian aid in Africa and the United States.
Africa famine: first we had Band Aid from UK then USA for Africa which raised over $120 million. Why don’t musicians do this anymore 😔
They actually had a group of musicians who did this. The We Are the World 25 for Haiti sucked and we all know it. The 80s version is better.
Michael Jackson is an eternal angel. Never will we see someone like him again. He did so much for the world and most of all he did it for all children. God bless his soul.
Wonderful reaction and reflections, ladies. Thank you.
I'm right with you. I have seen this video a hundred times and I still cry like 95% of the time.
Thank you for your reaction was so beautiful love QLD Australia thank you so very much.
This song envokes emotions because the lyrics are so vivid that it puts us in the famine to which its trying to help. This made lots of kids cry in the 80's and all we wanted to do was help Africa.
This is the America I grew up in. But then in 2008 we were told by our then leader, how systemically racist we were since our founding. And the people, most of them who weren’t old enough to remember the days like this, believed the lie. And so far we’ve never been able to recover from that. Because hate, sometimes is the default emotion because it requires so little effort yet comes at such a great cost. But there was a time in America were we tried to do the right things, and this song proves it.
To live in era's when all these and other singer's were part of our life's journey...(Class of 71).May,.all you ♥️ children in 2023 have a safe journey in all your life endeavors.
Man you gotta love Cindy Lauper here.
This MV/song was a response to what was first done in the UK - a group of celebrities came together to do a song for charity to famine in africa. They called the group Band aid and the song is "do they know its christmas?". Then American responded to that by doing this song / mv which then inspired a concert to raise money for africa.
People crying for listen amazing voices?? Its easy to understand, we're talking about the BEST voices of all time...
lovely to see you listen with your heart sweet reaction, and you look good LOVE FROM DENMARK

Amazing song, Amazing voices
Try do they know it’s Christmas the record for Africa by British pop singers
if only we could be like this today - it was a moment in time, and then the moment passed
Yes, indeed this world has changed. Unfortunately not for the better. But keep the love in your hearts and hopefully we make someone’s day better.
That came out when I was in the 5th grade and it was our class song when I graduated the 6th grade. That's just how long that song was on top.
DAMN I miss the 80s. No social media, no cell phones... no egos based on likes and followers. Just good hearts and those hearts working together. And omg, I miss Michael!
If that doesn't brighten up your day then I don't know what will
Aww, I sorry it brought you to tears, but it is a beautiful song and makes you think what you can do to help the world 🌍❤️
You were not aware of the immense size and triumph of the song "We Are the World." Renowned American singers participated, and the global audience became aware of the necessity to assist the people in Africa, particularly Ethiopia, which was the focal point for aid. La Toya Jackson, The Pointer Sisters, and Harry Belafonte were among the attendees. I was a young teenager when this song was unveiled, and it gained universal acclaim as the anthem for worldwide hunger and famine. To be honest, I am consistently moved whenever I listen to this song.
The World ❤ you, Africa. You are NOT alone. We love you, think and pray for you.
True America. Teamwork, talent, passion. love and soul.
Best musicians all together just majestic!
It was the greatest and still is the greatest still give me chills almost 40 years later .
I am 54years old now. I was 14years old when this was made. There are Legends in that group. Some have passed and are close to it.
This is one of the most beautiful and authentic reaction videos to the human spirit. Thank you!
I love the way you get so emotional. You have a tender soul.
😢😢😢😢😮😮😢 everytime I heard this song it brings tears to eyes my heart crys too knowing what the poor and needy one's are going through from the hands of the wicked heartless unGodly unholy evil minded one's who cares about nooooooo one but themselves 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
I was 21 when this came out in 1985. It was huge and I remember it well. Thanks.
You had me crying and reaching for tissues, and I already get emotional anyway when watching this. Lol
Say what you will about the 80's, you're so right about how things have changed. I sure miss those days.
Why do we get emotional when we see something like this? Our soul speaks. He talks about the good things that are increasingly rare or that he misses the good things that we would like to see more often in today's world. Nice reaction!
We are one. Best wishes from Germany💞
All the ones singing in this are ledgends in America. Love yall GOD BLESS EVERYONE🙏🙏🙏😇😇😇❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Even after listing to this a million times stevies part always get my eyes wet.this feeling this pain in his voice is just incredible 😢
Bruce and Stevie; the duet we didn’t even know we needed
You know what's great about all these artist?... no runs. Every single voice sounds different. Today... they'd all sound the same. Miss those old day singers.
Do they know its Christmas by Band Aid was the original charity song .. and this was the American reply ..
I felt what the young lady on the left was saying. Things are different today, and not for the better. So glad I was able to experience this America as a kid before it disappeared.
Both of you should watch band aid that recorded Do they know it’s Christmas. Bob Geldof and Midge Ure wrote the song and got all the artist together to help the people of Ethiopia as there was a famine, this was in December 1984 and millions of people were dying. He also got singers together to for the live Aid concert which took place in the UK and America. It’s time to start living in that world as the world we live in now is a disaster waiting to happen!!
I remember watching this live and was awestruck 😮❤ way back then. We can Google almost everything nowadays but we can never Google your beautiful appreciative tears. Thanks
Beautiful reaction ❤
The 80's was a special time to live
Thank you for this 😊
Yeah I love the song too and it was good that everybody all those artists came together and raised all that money to help everyone over in Africa what a wonderful thing and God bless everybody that was involved
I was 15 that year and you know that hunger exist I had just not ever seen it. We saw pictures daily and it was heart breaking. I know one day it played for 24 hours on every station across the US. It was amazing. It brought humanity to the forefront. Amazing song. Amazing cause and so glad that we were able to make a difference difference.
All this singers are legends 🙏😁
