Tip that you mentioned... gtis powerband is from ~4k-5.5k so it is best if you short shift them and best if you keep the rpm in that range. love those wheels btw
when stock, the powerband is strong until 6-6.5
Have Stage 2 GTI, 340hp. Peak power is 5700 RPM. So if you shift gear at 6500 RPM, your RPM drops to 4000 (300-310 hp) and then again it revs until 6500. Average power on 4000-6500 range is maximum possible power (about 320 hp). When you shortshift it, (for example on 5000) RPM drops to 2500 and then you got about 180 hp. Average power on 2500-5000 range is about 250 hp that is much lower than 320 hp.

You're conflating rev range with powerband.
That’s not really how it works. After shifting up the amount of torque you lose due to the lower gear ratio ends up being worse than just keeping the lower gear

Do it bro I’ve smoked STI’s in my manual MK5 GTI! STI’s have so much drivetrain loss and shitty gearing. go get a DSG mk7 GTI or mk6 golf R for around the same price. Do it before you blow a head gasket 😂 jk wish I got a DSG tho I had the choice but the other car was already modded. Didnt wanna take the chance
Get a Veloster N lol, firm like an STi with insane grip, and a superior Automatic if opted for, unless you want a commuter car that is insanely numbed out for comfortable ride then get a GTi/GLi.

Apparently VW/Audi engineered it that way so they can control the amount of carbon on the intakes and reduce them. Carbon burns with higher engine temps so its normal.

241 oil temp is HOT
External oil coolers come in handy
the stock cooling systems on these cars are pretty weak unfortunately. water cooled exhaust manifold, oil-to-coolant heat exchanger and a dsg fluid cooler make the little radiator in the back of the sandwich struggle
@@user-li3xt5qm4i Pretty normal for these cars. Maybe slightly hotter but the oil temp runs around 225-235
Just get a better IC and run an oil cooler. You'll be good to go after that.
I think the POV was not bad I would just try to get it a little higher up next time. Buying an S550 in Scottsdale today because of your build. Never really cared for Mustangs but I'm hooked on this gen.

I feel like this is 188 or 88 kind of near the Salt River. I’ve approached the Salt River from the north before and this looks kind of like that drive. Plus speed limits kind of jive with what I remember. There are definitely a couple spots I saw a cop or two hanging out, but that was a couple years ago now. Tons of speeders on those roads.
Kudos for driving in a safe and semi-civilized manner with other traffic out there.. unlike that E46 M3 dude on the same road a few years ago who dumped it over the edge while driving like a total penis wrinkle.

I can’t recommend the racing line oil cooler kit enough, gone are the days of 250° temps while spirited driving.
250°?? I get nervous when my gti gets to 230° guess I do t push it hard enough

getting my 2014 TDI tomorrow, and i have to say im stoked, it might not be as powerfull as this, but man, looking at the handling of this i hope mine will be a little close. almost looks impossible for a vehicle to sit that well on the road, truly and amazing car!!

I run a MK7 DSG and love it. I have a 6MT MK5 as well and I miss driving it less & less over time.
The DSG can be just as fun. TCU tune with auto shift lockout in manual mode and you're set.
The DSG is the best of both worlds. You can have loads of fun when you want or drop it into auto mode and be a lazy bum. Especially if its your daily. Normal Auto for gridlock commute traffic, drop it into Sport Manual an hour later on some backroads. I've driven nothing but manual transmissions for 16+ years until I picked up my 15 SE back in 2019. Not a single regret.

hey cam idk if you will see this but i have a suggestion, i think the wing would look really good on the gti, but i agree it needs some sort of break in it and how it just looks a little off with the black paint in comparison to what you were hoping for with the red painted gti. why dont you do a red roof to a red wing? i think it would look really nice and match the calipers.
doesnt even have to be black, you could do a grey roof to a grey wing even, i just think that the gti is missing a wing
