You’re going to want a different car once the warranty is up because you have been driving a slow car the entire time while watching all these new cars that are faster, come out. Just tune it and send it now!
8:52 soo i had this question and debate in my head for months now ... i had a LOT of spin in 1st 2nd gear .. had to change my back suspension and now the spinning is at a minimum , in FWD cars the weight goes to the back like any other car launching but the difference is that the front tyres don t have that much weight on them at the time hence the lean back before spinning . better back suspension ( i d say stiffer ) would help launch on any car.
i think you need to put it in sports mode then switch to manual, havent fucked around with it too much but the couple of times ive used it, it doesnt seem to activate if youre not in sports mode first
Seems like as soon as you launch, the weight transfer unloads the front suspension and it that moment in between resting and full extension that you get the tyres hooking. Now all’s you need to do is slap a 65mm turbski, 15 inch rimdingdangalinglongs; some hosiers and brother you’ll have yourself a stage 69 drag golf GTI
I do like launching at highway on ramp lights, and intersection, with a long empty road ahead of me, but i have yet to use full launch control (ESC off) on public roads. Just feels weird. I'm good with just putting it into sport mode and quickly switching to the gas on a green light.
I have a brand new 2020 GTI with 35 miles. I was messing around with the traction control, and if you hold it for 3 or so seconds, it turns the traction control all the way fully off. Idk if its different with older models, but just FYI!
The main reason AWD cars have launch control is they tend to bog down at launch. Even then they still bog down. AWD cars are not the best on a drag strip, though people tend to think they are.
@@MarkyTheSharky310 my 8 i never drag raced, traded it for a 9 then traded that for a 9 MR, then traded that for a X. Mistake selling the 9 MR best car I've ever owned. I had a 2 step launch control with that and with the 6 spd manual gearing in the MR it took off like a freaking rocket. Was tuned with bolt ons and made 340 awhp on 91 pump and 400 awhp on E85. Hey buddy. Nice videos and information. I own a Passat 2.0 tsi 2018. I want to do tuning and want my ride to be nice and attractive. What do you suggest?
So you coded the traction control to full off but it seems like the TC is very invasive (7:55). Did you just do ESC off, or did you also code out the 'starting vibrations'?
Does that OBD11 have to do with the tune. Is the OBD from unitronic?. Or does the OBD interphere with the unitronic tune?. I mean my exes stage 1 gti never had a problem with traction control. It fully turned off

Now try it with the 6spd manual. Without the cars launch control electronics, it’s pretty junk. FWD is just not the platform you want to do 0-60mph runs...
Just bought a new GTI. I love your videos. Once my warranty is up, I’ll be going back and doing all the same mods.
Screw the warranty just send it🤪

Aye! Thanks for the launch feature! #GolfGang
Of course, you da man 🏁
love ur r man
A vid comparing pros, cons, and similarities between speed3, st, and gti would be nice 👀
I didn't realize you could use launch control in manual mode vs sport. I'm going to try doing it in manual mode :)
i think you need to put it in sports mode then switch to manual, havent fucked around with it too much but the couple of times ive used it, it doesnt seem to activate if youre not in sports mode first
Still waiting for Focus ST and GTI comparison video
yeah fr
FYI- The gen3 mk6 2013.5 to 2018 GLI has LC built in to the TCU as well. Obviously all MK7’s have it too
I was literally thinking about when you were gonna upload another video.
Some more gripping tires would do wonders
bro, radials would be dope
i admire the way you care about your GTI.. i'm the same. Daily Stage 2 350bhp and I only launch the car every few weeks.
That outro was SICK!!
Aye when is the trans fluid service video coming 👀
There is Videos Out there For DQ250 Transmission :)
Also in the Phoenix area and picking up a GTI soon… looking forward to digesting all your great content my man!

The rotors look so good on this car.

Hold the traction control button all the way down it reduces esc sport so the car dosnt feel like it fights with you when your foot is down

Awesome video man! Just did a unitronic stage 2 ecu and tcu tune to my MK6 and cool to see the launch control. I might give er a try now!
I love your channel dude, reason i bought my 2017 gti
The gti content is sooo good

Damn being a car guy in Arizona has got to be kinda hard. The poor heat soak :( i would feel bad every time I had to drive my STI in that heat.
Dude it’s rough tbh
How some classic DSM all wheel drive, come on man…..where’s the love my guy!!!!!!!
Priceless reaction 🔥
Love the wheels
cobb traction control makes a big difference
Mild-light wheelslip yes, but spinning is always slower than the limit of traction
