I find the resources to be sort of scarce on this topic which is why im watching ur channel currently to gain a bit of insight on transferring successfully. I applied for a selective school last year but I didn't make it but I did get some experience on the test (most of it was a pain for me as i didnt get any tutoring or knowledge on what the exam was gonna cover but i got a decent ranking) so I hope it doesn't change too much this year. I'm in yr9 atm and last year semester 2 I got A's in everything but science, pdh and art which were B's. Last year Semester 1 i didnt perform well with only one A in math. Im hoping to do well in the first semester this year and I hope my reports are good enough :) My main concern now is how I hold up as a student in a partially selective school ranked in the 200s and if i can compete with other students for the spot. However I do have some knowledge on what these 2 schools are expecting (Hast exam, reports and naplan but no co curricular). Anyways my comment was a little bit messy (sorry) but my main questions to ask you are: How to prepare and practice for the exam despite the limited resources and questions What the interview stage will be like assuming I make it there And if theres a way to check how many people make it to the shortlist or whatever it is called Thanks!
hello! Goodluck on your exams! Unfortunately the HAST test pack - sample paper is much easier than the actual exam as you might have noticed when you did the exam last year. Your report last year is quite concerning, remember to check out my other video to know what a strong report that maximises your chances should look like. This is particularly important as you are in a partially selective school. You want to get those A's! For your questions, I would say: 1. Honestly it is tough to prepare adequately for the exam without tutoring or access to the right resources. It is a reason why I struggled when I tried out during highschool as nothing existed then. We do tutoring but obviously not everyone can afford or is in a position to do it either. I also think you don't have enough time for a tutor to really prepare for the exam which is in August either. 2. This one I might make a seperate video on the interview process as it is different compared to the school. 3. That is the reserve list. If you are invited to an interview, depending on your performance you have the chance to be on the reserve list, be given a spot or get nothing. It varies in number every year and depending on the school.
Hi I did the hast exam a year ago and got as a reserve list for Caringbah high and Sydney tech. Is it possible now to still ask if there are any vacancies? I also do accelerated maths in my current school so I’m just wondering if they will take that into consideration as well?

Hey Bing, do you have an estimate of the minimum scores you need to get into Giraween for each component of the HAST test (Abstract Reasoning, Mathematical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and Writing)? I am taking HAST next year for year 8 entry so it would be really helpful to know what scores I should aim for. Also, if I'm already in a selective school, does that increase my chances of getting in? Thanks!
Well girraween is not just the HAST but also the report.
