  • In today's video, we delve into five essential steps designed to enhance your comprehension of poetry, particularly when tackling multiple-choice questions. These steps cover various aspects, from identifying literary devices to understanding the central message and themes of a poem. We also discuss the reasoning behind each step and its applicability for students.
    The video further recommends considering the context in which the poem was written to deepen your understanding of its message. Additionally, we share exam techniques that can help you effectively compare different answer options, aiming to improve your success rate in answering poetry-related questions.
    To provide a concrete example, John discusses W.B. Yeats' poem, "When You Are Old," illustrating some of the steps in action. Acquiring this skill set can be particularly beneficial for high school students, especially when faced with poetry questions in their senior years. Consider applying these strategies to see how they might enhance your academic performance.

    Hi, Bing
    Your videos have really helped my friend's family friend and I recommend your videos constantly for him to be prepared for the selective test. Also, I have been informed by Girraween High School that I am in the first position on the reserve list. The reserve list ends on the 30th of April, do you think I have a chance?

      that is great to hear! it depends on the year. there might be more movement in year 10 and year 11 if people start at the school but want to move back to their old school if it is not a fit. If not, your chances will be slim despite being the 1st reserve. Although good achievement nonetheless!

      @@BingsAcademy I am currently in year 10 and I really want to get in because my friend is there. Although If I do get in, I'm not sure if my parents will allow me because of the location. They don't know about Girraween that much except I found it had more places in year 10 and conveniently enough, one of my friends was applying too.

    Hi i just have a small question is the writing in selective marked out of 20 or 30

    • @BingsAcademy
      @BingsAcademy  Рік тому

      we are not sure to be honest! it doesn't make much of a difference though. Different tutoring centres may mark it out of 20/25/30. I personally mark it out of 20.
