I was a mechanic in the Marine corps and I worked on these trucks that looks fantastic and totally fits the bill. Not only did you hit it right with the build but you made it look like it should have been in the military running guys around. This is totally ready for any military show. I have wanted one from the day I got in. But this thing takes the cake and can go anywhere. I sure hope the owner gets to enjoy it and has had the opportunity to take it out in the countryside.. Great job!!!
God bless you John thank you for your service, Ian you are one amazing human being the things you do for other people is amazing you're another Picasso in disguise making John's dream come true 😊. You make it look so very easy the narrating that you do between building makes me feel like I'm watching you from within the shop. John is a lucky man and very deserving of what you have done for him.😊
I bought my 1st. military truck from John back in Dec. of 1995, it was a Chevy G-506 1 1/2 ton Cargo 4X4. Two years later, I found a correct bed for it and Ian did some sheet metal work on it. I haven't seen John since 2002 and Ian since 2014. I'm tripping out right now, but it's good to see that they're both alive and kicking!!
Dude just started watching, this is the second video ive seen. Your awesome, I watch a lot of car building shows and love how cool calm and collective your videos come out. When your cutting metal its not so loud you have to turn the volume down. Everything is perfectly done which makes watching totally enjoyable. So who ever is doing your camera work give em a slap on the sholder for a good job! And looking forward to seeing your next creation Ian, again your awesome!
Hav,n grown up during the Vietnam conflict and hav,n a family member serving as a combat Medic I lwas immersed in everything Military and I was hooked spent time on a base seeing those Big Rigs moving essential Military equipment about so This build brings back fond memories for me Awesome fabrication for this build Bill Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 Lest we forget those that gave their all for us
Great video. My heavy artillery unit 5/22 Arty 175 8" had the Duece and a Half M35A2 with Command Center. We used in at Ft Irwin on the Mojave Desert in California then took it to the Central Highlands of Vietnam. We ran our battalion Command and Fire Direction control center out of the box while stateside (Summer of 1967) then initially at AnKhe, Vietnam in early 1968. A dependable multi fuel vehicle. The unit moved regularly, with and without the vehicle depending on the location of our next position.
You sir are one clever man. You impress me everytime I watch and I watch them all. Even loved the tv show. So happy you r out of the cutches of the corporate dogs in tv land. Great work guys and more power to you. Regards, Sully.
That is an awesome truck! I owned a 2.5 ton version of that truck, and I had a Unimog radio truck which I made into an off-road camper, but your fabrication takes the cake.
I know these trucks are out there but why can't i find one. Also John i feel your pain i have 5 plates in my neck and 8 in my back. It hurts to drive and i love to drive. Love Ian's work simply love his work. Thank you.
In the Army from 67 to 91. Have driven about everything and drove the first 3 different prototypes of the Hummer and the 3 year test of the FMTV. Love these big old beasts, Great job once again. An update on John please.
Ty ian for helping nam vet out God bless you john welcome home nice ole international carryall crewcab enjoy yourselves with camper you've earned it brother
I have had several (7) military vehicles. The one thing I always have to explain is, "It's a guy thing". I miss everyone one of them. I was like a kid in a candy store in Vietnam with all the neat stuff I had access to as an engineer. As a civilian collector unfortunately life and lawyers get in the way sometimes. I am currently restoring a 1946 CJ2a that would probably fit in the glove box of this truck. AWESOME
Another amazing build. I have a project in mind (smaller than what would fill an episode) but I live in NC and bringing it out to you on the West Coast would be a wee bit problematic, as they say, for me. When you find a craftsman that can truly work with their clients AND has a cool Pittie as well, you can't go wrong.
Man that thing brings back memories. Back in the seventies I was one of a few who were licensed to drive one of those in my old Marine Corps unit. The only difference was it had dualies instead of the super singles.
love your work, just the way i like it, just wing it, thats my kind of mech , i drove a 5ton Truck in Germany so i know in this part how it is to drive one. Love what you do keep it up Mr. Roussel
Man what a beast love it to the point I want one always loved these army trucks,I’ve watched two of your videos in the last couple of days and I’m hooked you know what you are doing with projects.I would like to drive one about in the uk it would turn a few heads.
Iam blown away that you only have 26k subs.. ur work is AMAZING Ian!!! Guys if you enjoy his content subscribe so he can make the you tube money to fund more sweet projects
I was in Evac & Recovery in 70-73. The one I hauled a M-88 Tank Retriever into the Field had a crazy firing order. Sounded like one bank fired in a row then the other. Our Radio Van was split in the middle and the sides cranked out doubling the inside...o~`o
Wasn't in the military, but have to agree with @vicswanby454. I am a huge fan of the m35A1 deuce and a halfs, and this build is BEAUTIFUL!....Uncle Sam himself would be proud to ride in this one
MASH needed that thing on their set, just think how they could transported the wounded and administer life saving procedures on the move.David in Texas USA
Had an M-123 with full time 6X6 hi/lo 5spd with a a "Married" Transfer Case. Used to haul wild Cattle out of the forest with that old girl. I like Mack's 1st 123 A I believe. 5X4 Mack RQ 720 and the RQ 718. & the E-9 V8 aka the 440 because they came out with 440 hp. I grew up with Big Rigs because Daddy drove for Parker Ranch. Daddy was their Fleet Examiner. Nobody drives for the Ranch unless they go through Daddy and I'm Daddys Little Girl!!! I went everywhere with him and learned stuff they don't teach you in school. How to tie down a load of freight headed to the Parker Ranch warehouse. And steel for the welding shop... How to chain down a bulldozer to the Lo-Boy trailer. Hauling water and of course Cattle. I learned 1st hand from my Daddy. And Daddys Little Girl became a truck freak. Ian Roussel you got some serious skills!!!!
Hydraulic or air rams. On each side of door with fo!ding lift plate to get into front seat. Back stairs slide out through bumper with final type. If lift lock. Suggestion ,thanks.

Old military trucks are tough.
I love 'em.
This turned out great Ian. It looks like it came from the factory this way. All the best for a great recovery from your surgery John.
What a fantastic job Ian. It looks like it came out of the factory. I hope your friend John makes a full recovery.
GI joe has a new truck! Great job looks like factory job.
awesome as always.thanks for sharing and taking us along.

Raised roof 6”…!!!! Will it fit going out of the garage now ?

I've always wanted one of those but the only thing is now that I'm getting old climbing in and out of it would be the biggest challenge
Man that thing brings back memories. Back in the seventies I was one of a few who were licensed to drive one of those in my old Marine Corps unit. The only difference was it had dualies instead of the super singles.
Fantastic build. Well done. Did you think to build steps to the rear cab and, indeed, access to the camper bed?
Wow!! I wish he'd shown how the shed was attached to the truck and how one enters it!
Bad Chad has nothing on Ian. Truck looks fabulous 👍
Thats why i love Ian, all his project are finished and completed 😁

Where did Ian reroute the exhaust?
John can hardly get up out of a chair, how will he ever climb up and down into that cab?? 😮
Ian you got to start telling us how much it cost...
What happened to John after his operation??
Alan Rubin
More i look at it the more i think those mufflers you took off should have gone back on at the end of the rear door
John's neighbors must be amused
where is part 2?
Looks good just dont think it should be chevy powerd
Should of put the smoke stacks back on it
So,what happened to the owner?Did he come out from the surgery strong enough to drive it?Anyone knows?
I want one
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
😎😎😍😍😘😘👍👍👍👍👍
O Please tell me how John is doing...
🎉
American truck cabins until the late '60s were small because most drivers were black, and no one cared about their comfort ☹
I'm coming and going to sit there and watch with you, oh don't forget the bottle of tequila.
3:30 he’s 6 foot two inches tall ? I believe he has no idea how to measure anything.
Dudes just get a small steering wheel duh.
Still stealing content I see.. Grubbs
The best to john get well soon . Awesome job on the truck 😅🎉
VERY nice job and very Nice TRUCK .🇨🇦✊
I like how the clients leave him to it and let's him go
I was watching you build the roof and then I thought, how would you get the truck out of the workshop 😂
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
