One thing for sure... Kevin is one hell of a good guy. Serves his country, makes killer revival videos, has the one and only Mook- and he helps the up and coming young UA-camrs get into the game. What a guy!!! Thank you for your service Kev.
Was literally just looking at how I am caught up on my motor trend shows and was about to rewatch some engine masters and then the notification popped up for junkyard digs and I was like hell yeah!
Thanks for coming to Whatcha Smokin!! It was nice to see you guys and the really cool truck! Looks like Angus might have violated the visual management sign that says 45mph!!
Angus presents very well, I like his semi-seriousness and how he focuses on the tasks. Just the right amount of personality for someone the audience is getting to know. I could watch more of him work on trucks.
I think it was for a tool box. Lotsa places sold cross bed boxes, but few people realized how handy a side box was. A big ammo box was a great asset to bolt to your truck.
Awesome truck and, by the way, awesome music. I didn't know people still listened to rock'n'roll. I'd say the metal frame on captain's side, is to support a chopping board for gutting fish.
Great work, loving Angus he needs his own channel, a real entertainer. Your shop must be warm one minute out in the snow next minute it's t-shirt time. Ford looking great a real good score and worth saving. Hopefully we'll see it when the exhaust is fixed
It's an 'impact driver' we used these before they made electric ones! they were fairly cheap and effective. I've had one in my tool box since about the year this truck was made!!!
Good job once again Junkyard Iowa dudes! She's back terrorizing your ears and the streets once again!Maybe some exhaust and windshield next time perflaps...
That is a great revival series. Vehicle with a history, helpful repair and maintenance tips, good sense of humor and grand finale. Enjoyed watching it as much as Cutlass S revival.
That is a clean truck. The one thing I'm surprised that wasnt in the tool box was bottles of lead substitute. Without lead substitute the non hardened valve seats wont last.
What a fun adventure, thank you guys so much, really made my week, though it made me miss hanging out with my own mates, but what-ever, so good in my rusty heart to see people finding and resurrecting such classics, it is seriously 'waste not, want not'. For all the energy to produce one truck today, you could maintain a dozen such beauties. My opinion an' sticking to it :)
Tool box carrier, for one of those big red metal toolboxes. ETA and it looks like a fuel can bracket in the bed welded to the bed tool box. Good on ya'll for returning those tags.
Great to see it done.. defo need to sort the exhaust, that could become headache material after a few trips. Be good to do an update video in a couple.of months. Great job guys, keep them coming!
Just goes to show you how well cars and trucks were built back in the day, Seems like this one was taken care of very well. Just one great truck. I remember them being very mechanical, like trying to get into 3rd gear, not too much room between 2nd and 3rd, LOL, Great job guys, nice to see these vehicles not go to the crushing yards and get saved, no need for that, when you can use a little elbow grease and keep them going. Loved this video, keep em coming!!!
It tickles me how well the coveralls fit Angus 😂 Thanks for the awesome video and as always, the inspiration! 🤘🏻 This series gives me high hopes for my next revival! A 68 GMC pickup with a 4 speed! Comin in the next couple weeks...
Fix the exhaust and the windscreen and that truck would even be street legal here in the UK. Surprised how nicely she cleaned up and also how much of a difference 2 working headlamps makes.
@12:50 Has anybody told Angus that that tool is an impact driver? That head should also be removable for use with a 3/8" drive socket. Beautiful truck and great series by the way. Thanks for sharing.
I'm not sure if anyone has said it below, but I wonder if the brake lights in the back have single filament bulbs and require dual filament, that may be why they wouldn't light when you had the headlights on. Great video once again, keep the revivals coming!
You can't kill those trucks easily. Proof is in the video that she wasn't done yet, she wanted to continue living. Thanks guys for the best revival videos!!
The rack was for a hose reel. The old girl was a fire truck of sorts at a small airport (radio, holes in the grille for flashers, red/white two tone paint and the VFR/IFR stuff on the visor)
Yeah, as soon as you put a screwdriver or a file into the truck box, it goes to far far away places. Having the small box right there would keep things in reach.
I think the frame was for #1-toolbox #2-ice-chest. Love that old truck! I own four slicks. I have a red 64 F350 flatbed with the 292 Y-block. A 65 f100 and 2-66 F100's. Some stacks in the bed of your truck would be cool. Would have to slide the toolbox back a little
So glad I've discovered your channel. My 1997 F150 was stolen over a year ago and I haven't replaced it yet. Now I'll be looking for a simple old 2 wheel drive truck with an 8' bed. Your videos really help me get in the mood. Those older truck are so easy to fix, compared to the new ones. Finding one is getting hard though, especially in Alberta, Canada.
Rack looks like it could have been for a small toolbox... something that could be carried inside a building or to whatever they were working on away from the truck. Looking GOOD guys!
I love the colour of that truck. And it's nice to see one of these revival vehicles actually used. Most just seem to get running and then are sold or abandoned again.
I live in Tennessee, specifically Sumner County. So that plate at 10:56 really hits home. I'm in the process of starting a collection of license plates.
I know the feeling of dairying an old Ute only difference is that it never sat for more than 6 months. Pretty cool that it has been maintained for 40 years straight (it’s an 81 f100) out of pure necessity. It was our only Ute capable of doing heavy hauling until 2015 when it was finally replaced by a v8 land cruiser. It’s still used as a heavy hauler and general tractor around the farm.
@@thekingsilverado9004 yep. I love that dually Suburban and the red Dodge. Pretty sure that house still stands today near Ames. Be cool if Kevin does a side by side comparison of the movie vs what everything is now 25 yrs later.
@@blazertracer1 It's definitely beautiful country to see. Used to be nice around here too but the city folks came and shitted everything up with giant warehouses and pure crap even crappy McMansions too.
Hi Kevin and Angus great video as always thanks Kevin for sharing your videos and really appreciate everything you do keep up the great work God bless you both and your family's as well as stay safe always ok always here watching from Corey Ross from Calgary Alberta Canada long time subscriber say hi to mook and Luke and his wife and say hi to John as well few others have a great night can't wait for more videos Kevin

Hell yeah i have to agree
That my friend, is the cooler rack! Gotta keep the beer nearby and stop it from sliding around in the back
Business in the front, party in the back!
damn, I was gonna say the same thing
My first guess too.
A feller’s gots to keep his cold snacks chillin’ in the back.
Fancy seeing you here Mr Roanoke
considering the service truck my dad used to use had a bracket on it almost identical to that it would be a welder generator or a air compresser
@The Metalshop Might be able to throw a cooler on that too! Good for a road trip or three while sitting in the box
That looks close to the size that Derek built for beets before he sold it
The driver’s side rectangle mount looks like it was for an actual tool box to use on the farm to repair fencing etc...
Ditto
Agreed
Was literally just looking at how I am caught up on my motor trend shows and was about to rewatch some engine masters and then the notification popped up for junkyard digs and I was like hell yeah!
I'm over the discovery style scripted stuff. These guys are the new roadkill for me.
Thanks for coming to Whatcha Smokin!! It was nice to see you guys and the really cool truck! Looks like Angus might have violated the visual management sign that says 45mph!!
Props to Angus for throwing on the coveralls he must be the reincarnated former owner
Just watch out for when the truck starts driving itself...
That would imply that the former owner is dead 🤔
@@muffinman1309 he is.
I heard he's related to Jessie Duke.
As long as its sober its cool
Angus presents very well, I like his semi-seriousness and how he focuses on the tasks. Just the right amount of personality for someone the audience is getting to know. I could watch more of him work on trucks.
That support held a beer cooler, alcoholic beverages and their easy access is important.
that was the first thing that popped into my head.
lol
A red metal Coleman cooler. I have one from the 70s and It's a Champ.
Yeah, I was definitely thinking cooler
Angus has a good truck there, some exhaust and vacuum leaks work and fix the carburetor so you can drive it in reasonable manor and nice job guys
Thank you for returning that man's Dog Tags.
Amen
Good deed done!
hear hear!
Glad to see another 4th Gen F-Series doing it again! Hopefully the exhaust has been fixed, to eliminate carbon monoxide dangers.
That support looks like it would hold a welder.
100%
Either that or a fish tank.
That or a spare gas tank with a pump ⛽
I was thinking the same thing and about to comment it
@@chicagovasko I was gonna say fish tank too 😆
You two boys are a class act! Thank you for returning those tags to that fellow, and thank you Kevin for your service!
Love when Angus took it for his first drive he put the old Canadian tuxedo on.

Never really been a car guy but for some reason I keep coming back to your channel and vice grips channel
13:00 that's... an impact driver buddy. That's the version that was common before they came in "powered drill" style.
Awesome truck and, by the way, awesome music. I didn't know people still listened to rock'n'roll.
I'd say the metal frame on captain's side, is to support a chopping board for gutting fish.
The rack is a keg mount. Iowa tailgating Delux!
Best answer so far!
Fer some cold snacks
"I bet we can make it in 3"
"Minutes?"
"No, hours"
Damn Jessie is the best lol
Nice job Angus....good luck with the new ride.
It's just good to see Mook in the video. Her silliness is missed in alot of your latest.
yeah she's hot
that truck was somebody's baby in the day. It is a keeper. Loved the road trip, it was like being back in my dad's '63 again.
My God when he turned the headlights on and it was running it remind me of a truck version of Christine.. 😂😂
Love that old F100. I have a 71 short bed F100 4x4. Love the old Ford pickups
I love mook she is the funniest girl I've ever seen Kevin your lucky to have her man. WE LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!
lol I hope he’s not a math teacher in the off time. 79 wasnt 23 years ago😂😂
The plate didn't look THAT old, maybe it was '97, and he's just dyslexic? Could be his math is sound and his reading's off.
he' gona be an engeeeneeeerr!
yeahh I was thinking maybe I'm dumb but I think it was a lot more than 23 years
I thinks it’s do to all the toilet bowel wax he eats
A guy like that could be president!
That metal stand at 4:35 was most likely used for a metal top that housed a bench vice. I have seen these frames used for added workspace as well.
The archeology aspect of exploring this truck makes it so interesting! Like opening a time capsule.
Great work, loving Angus he needs his own channel, a real entertainer. Your shop must be warm one minute out in the snow next minute it's t-shirt time. Ford looking great a real good score and worth saving. Hopefully we'll see it when the exhaust is fixed
The rack is for a fish aquarium.
To hold your bait when you go fishing 😜
Much respect for returning the dog tags, awesome video as always. Keep em coming.
the coveralls are quite a score.
It's an 'impact driver' we used these before they made electric ones! they were fairly cheap and effective. I've had one in my tool box since about the year this truck was made!!!

Yep, get the exhaust fixed and the windshield wipers doing wiper stuff again and it can be driven even in the rain again
Thank you for returning the Dog Tags
The support was probably used as a mini toolbox, Not sure. pretty weird.
That’s what I was thinking also
Pony keg mount. It's not an open container if it's in the bed. Just pump 'er up and grab the hose...
@@TheBrokenLife you mean a cold snack dispensorator 12oz hunnert
It's hard to tell the dimensions, but I was thinking a 3 drawer rally box
I'm thinking maybe a portable generator
