      I was in business with them and I know for sure the products are made in multiple factories across China. Maybe this is the reason for the hit or miss, among other factors.
      Medichem is the UK manufacturer for some of their liquid products.
      I don’t believe in what they advertise because 90% of their products are made in China.
      They don’t have 100% control over product manufacturing and testing.

      Fizzahxo x, they offer budget products, as a distributor I got them at 60-65% off retail. The production cost must be ridiculous cheap for them to make a profit. This makes me wonder about the quality and long term effects.
      It’s true Adam worked in the past for big cosmetics and has access to their OEM factories, but I don’t believe they have the same quality.

    On the other hand, Revolution Beauty plays a role to shake these high end brands in a sense that the exact products can be created and sold for much cheaper. People who prefer authenticity will pay the premium, and people who don't want to don't need to! Once big brands lose enough customers for this, they will need to do something to offer more competitive prices. At the end of the day, it's all benefitial for consumers.
    Personally I don't buy many products from Revolution Beauty, but I appreciate the competition they bring to the market.

    • @melonmelon7427
      @melonmelon7427 4 роки тому +16

      You don’t talk about R&D. This is much more easier to offer a cheaper product when you don’t have to pay for a whole research department. Finding great formulas as a cost. Copying is just a fraction of that cost. This is pretty unfair that this brand is allowed to copy so obviously all of its competitors.

      Kong Kwan I also appreciate the competition it brings, but in terms of the skincare line, I feel like they are either copying the Ordinary too much (AHA+BHA Peeling Mask, Niacinimide 10%+Zinc 1%), gimmicky products (Strawberry Donut Face Mask, Holographic/Pink Glitter/Gold Glitter Face Mask), or they are just basic products (Hyaluronic Acid Moisture Cream, Cucumber Eye Gel). Considering their brand and their labeling of “Revolution,” it honestly seems more like they are trying to fit in to the market rather than revolutionize the market. Theres already The Ordinary, The Inkey List, Cerave, CosRX, and other brands that have about the same stuff for the same price. Their name seems cool and all, but it just seems contradictory to what they sell (in terms of the skincare).

    • @gerritkoelsch4861
      @gerritkoelsch4861 4 роки тому +1

      @@jonathanm.9801 I think what the brand prides itself with that is revolutionary is the Prize, more on the Makeup Side than the Skincare Side though. their Products cost only a friction of the high end ones while having similar results in terms of Makeup, like the Conceal and Define Concealer having similar results as Tartes Shapetape while costing way less, even when comparing amounts: Shape Tape costs 27€ for 10ml, Conceal and Define Concealer costs 5€ at 4g, so even if you buy 3 Revolution ones,you still save 12 Bucks, if you go for a SuperSize one (also 5€, but 13g) you save way more. for Skincare, its just harder because the Ordinary allready makes so low prizes, its having a hard time going below that.

    I don’t understand how some people can try and drag this brand and say its shady. But yet they are way more inclusive and its not just for certain groups of people. It is also great quality for being so cheap. And as for being ‘dupes’ I would prefer to pay less for almost identical products, what people don’t realise is that price doesn’t mean better quality it just means prettier packaging and for me it’s going in a drawer and no ones really going to see it.

    Honestly, I don't mind the dupe-y stuff because they're ripping off already giant corporations and providing people with varied options on ingredients, price, and being cruelty-free like you said. Those things matter a lot in what I look for in makeup. Like Urban Decayis huge brand with a big following at the end of the day, it's on them if they don't cater to a lower price point & go cruelty-free. If it was an indie artist they were copying, I'd have a problem. But especially with the cruelty-free approach & attention to diversity, I honestly really love the brand. This brand (revolution skincare) came out when the ordinary wasn't the most accessible in the UK. It could be found in some department stores and they could be bought online but you couldn't go into a drugstore and buy them. Revolution skincare brought these products into the British drugstore when there wasn't much like it. Now Both the ordinary and the inkey list are sold at boots and Superdrug has its own line of serums. Also, it is the law for British companies to have a section on modern slavery on their website so that is pretty normal (and something all companies should do regardless).

    If I’m honest I adore Revolution as a brand. The provide ‘cheaper’ alternatives. Anti slavery cause, many vegan options, not tested on animals options. They also allow people wanting to try out the higher brands and hyped items that do not have such a large budget. I also think they need to mimic item packaging to ‘suggest’ this is a similar alternative to the high end products. I also think that they do have to rely on influencers to get the word out there as I think some people just don’t even consider them as a brand due to the low price points. They are also usually more inclusive shade wise. Of course we can’t expect all items to be as good as the higher priced item due to the huge difference in price.

    I just bought the hydrating cleanser to try to find a cruelty free option to CeraVe. I'm from Chile and even though it's easy to find Korean brands here, they're not on my budget right now. I browsed through different beauty stores and I found out about Revolution skincare, whose ideas I support, but also I really like that they're fragrance free. The Ordinary is really expensive here, so it's not an option. Maybe three times more expensive than in the US. So, at the end, for me, I don't mind that they're making dupes because there are some of us who can't afford the originals.

  • @BlahBlah-sz4ne
    @BlahBlah-sz4ne 4 роки тому +8

    What they do is legal and I am more interested in whether the product is quality and can be used as a viable alternative especially when there are supply or other issues for the other skincare brand/s they are partially duping. In the makeup realm they are neither the only dupe company, the only company that does lots of collaborations nor the only company that has product issues and with the latter they may have handled it better than many others. If some of their skin products are in your view okay, why the value judgement? If you are going to throw shade there are a lot of other possible targets too. I haven't bought skincare from Revolution and I may or may not do so. I tried the inkey list and didn't like it. I like some products from the Ordinary and not others. I will check out your comparison video and see what Revolution options might be the best to try, if I do go choose to go down the road.

    I'm sorry, but I'm not rich enough to get a concealer for 50+ bucks and I think I'm not the only one here. Who seriously gives a shit if they dupe their products? The big brands who make millions upon millions can afford to lose a bit of money. I don't!

    I’ve been using the retinol serum and it’s been keeping my acne in check :)

    If her goal was discourage people from buying Revolution she failed miserably in my eyes. We have numerous Revolution make up and skin care products and the only products we have ever had any issue with in the blemish serum with salicylic acid because it did nothing for my daughters acne so really it was a waste of money but everything else we have bought so far has worked perfectly. And the price is also great. The pigments are great too. If high end brands didn't charge such outrageous prices then companies like Revolution wouldn't even be a problem.

    “Nothing so epitomizes the politically correct gullibility of our times as the magic word “diversity.” The wonders of diversity are proclaimed from the media, extolled in the academy and confirmed in the august chambers of the Supreme Court of the United States. But have you ever seen one speck of hard evidence to support the lofty claims?” ~Thomas Sowell

    Actually the Revolution concealer is £7 for 13 ml and has lost of shades whilst Tarte is £23 for 10ml. If the big brands would charge fairly there would be no need for these dupe brands but when you charge £2.3 per ml of product as if it was liquid gold then I'm sorry I will buy from Revolution with no shame. Yes, they can be hit and miss sometimes but the vast majority of their products are good quality. Customers should not be loyal to a particular brand, customers should pick and choose otherwise the big brands will continue to rip off all of us.

    I don't mind duping products as I live in Croatia and I can't get my hands on the drugstore goodies everyone else loves. In that sense, they're making it possible for people in developing countries to get products at an affordable price which can give you the look and feel the same as an expensive product that they're duping. My issue with them is how many products they put out and how many lines they have. I'm still salty about them releasing a line called Planet Revolution or smth like that which is supposed to be eco-friendly and all that jazz. Meanwhile, they push out 50 products a month and have so many lines I can't even remember them all. Not to mention that because they release so many things, they literally dupe themselves and release gimmicky products. I can't even begin to describe how many palettes they release that literally look the same as the other 200 neutral palettes they have. In a world where corporations and conglomerates are big contributers to global warming and pollution, that eco line of Planet Revolution, is not going to do shit for the environment. Especially not with their insistence to release as many products as humanly possible. They do more original products these days but that doesn't change the fact that they're the fast fashion of the makeup industry. They're not sustainable, they're not eco friendly not matter how many times they put a disclaimer that mica is harvested under good conditions without the use of slave labour.

    That moment when a cat her is positioned so perfectly on a phone that it gives Cass a mustache finger with the thumbnail 🤨 .... took me a minute to figure out what it was.
    I know, off topic. Thanks for the video!

    how is it duping if their quality is good? if their quality wasn't good people wouldn't be using them. if they can provide quality ingredients for cheaper price, then it means that those other companies are ripping off the customers

    I live in a small town in Canada, so having certain beauty products delivered from where ever becomes really expensive... for me revolution is just really accessible/affordable...

    I bought loads of their palates, I'll have to check them now to make sure there's no mould on them. I didn't know anything about it and I'm in the UK.

    Nothing wrong with copying. Who cares? Its whether it works or not. I used a great revolution foundation. Amazing coverage... so good that my skin couldnt breathe and I could physically feel it itching! The rash took weeks to get rid of. So I dont trust the range anymore. In terms of mould, ive not experienced that. But who knows what I was putting on my face!!
