Many companies are very charitable and philanthropic especially when they're very profitable. Walmart and pfizer (big bad pharma) are the top two most charitable organizations. Walmart charitable giving is $1.1 billion and Pfizer gives $3.2 billion.

    • @cannedbreaddd
      @cannedbreaddd 4 роки тому +6

      @@jennistone8740 It has more to do with getting your face (or any skin, for that matter) wet, in general. If you get your skin wet and allow it to dry completely without applying a moisturizer, the water evaporates from your face and what that does is drag pre-existing water from your pores as it dries, so you end up with less water afterwards, which is why moisturizers exist in the first place. It's not usually a worry when it comes to your face, as pretty much every person with a basic skincare routine uses a moisturizer, but it's more of a concern when it comes to the skin on your body, say, after a shower.

    • @muirgirl
      @muirgirl 4 роки тому +13

      @@StephanieLeighG Okay. THIS IS A LOT. All I have said here repeatedly is to not fall for marketing. I have said that I AM GLAD that all y'all enjoy these products. Bottom line is that Cerave and Neutrogena BELONG TO THE SAME COMPANY (L'OREAL) so to pretend they are different is HILARIOUS. The use of parabens is quite problematic and why these products are banned in Europe- specifically Germany. A "lack of evidence" of risk DOES NOT MEAN A PRODUCT IS SAFE. Cerave uses questionable marketing as well "CERAMIDES ARE MAGIC" - um, NO, HAH, its chemistry- and the same chemistry that suggests THC for instance can also produce said biochemical ceramidic activity. OOF. I'll include a great secondary source article for you that has a nice rundown of the studies that have accidentally stumbled upon the dangers of parabens. Pharma companies (like the former parent companies and new owners) have actively prevented long term follow up studies on these CHEAP additives like parabens and fragrance in their products. THAT ABSENCE DOES NOT MEAN THEIR PRODUCTS ARE SAFE LONG TERM. I honestly hope you open your eyes to the facts- the most basic one being there is no real difference between Cerave and Neutrogena. We only get one life, one body, and our health should always come before a corporate bottom line. Bless your heart.

    My father works in a pharma company and they had this thing to of giving doctors gifts, like expensive pens, wallets, watches but since few years, they've completely stopped doing that because they realised that it was technically bribing the doctors to prescribe their medicines. Now their representatives just go, talk to the doctors, tells them about their medicines and what are the effects and side effects and that's it but I know a lot of pharma company do this, paid trips and gifts.

      You really painted pharmaceutical representatives in a terrible light without talking about the other side -
      There are a lot of patients who can't afford 24 different doctors. Who can't afford to pay out of pocket for treatments that may not work. Samples are a way for those patients to try a product without going out of pocket on something that may not work for them.
      I have never found the pharmaceutical representatives who visited our practice to be bothersome and generally they had a wealth of information that was appreciated and their samples were a God send for patients who couldn't afford the trial and error that often happens in medicine.
      You also spent some time talking about pharmaceutical representatives being able to see what providers are prescribing - First, that isn't specific to pharmaceutical representatives. It is public information. Second, you may have wanted to mention that the data for what providers receive from pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers is also out there. For the last ten years, a physician has not been able to accept so much as a lunch at Applebee's without it, rightfully, being disclosed.
      Obviously there are always a few "bad apples" but the days of loose prescription pads and steak dinners are generally a thing of the past.

    This is so interesting. I’m german and in my masters for health care management and recently wrote a thesis on Corruption and Cooperation. Interesting to see the difference in the law. In Germany pharmaceutical companies can literally only pay doctors or hospitals for organising or going to medical workshops/ conferences (not even the buffet or lunch at said workshop)... it’s very strict compared to the us 😳

      That is the same in the US. This video seemed to combine meds and OTC products, toothpaste, etc all in one. physicians are getting free lunches to prescribe medications and that is illegal. A free course, books donated to the library, very specific monetary guidelines, is acceptable. Out of those guidelines, it is illegal

      I worked as a Registered nurse for over 20 years in the NHS (now disabled with spine/hip issues) and we never had samples. Drug reps did visit with info re new medications/treatments. Sometimes they provided lunch or pens (advertising products) or suchlike, but they are not allowed to pressure sell. The NHS buys the cheapest form of the actual drug (rather than brand names) unless it's a patented new med/treatment and only available from one company. In the UK most prescriptions are written with the drug/treatment name rather than brand, unless there is a speciffic reason eg texture, format or allergy to a specific filler ingredient. This is more prevalent in dermatology where texture can matter more. Sometimes the most cost effective product can have compliance issues and sometimes isn't prescribed for that reason. I appreciate it is much different in other countries, where financial incentives are allowed/tolerated. Condoms are given out in a family planning setting (in a restricted monthly amount) to encourage safer sex and prevent the financial and human cost of many sexually transmitted diseases, including a projected burden on the NHS - preventative medicine. In Scotland all NHS prescriptions are "free" (paid for by taxes) for everyone who resides here, although it's slightly different in other parts of the UK.

      Mary Dayer yes but use the peeling solution only once a week for 10 minutes. I have sensitive acne prone skin and use both these products and my acne scars have significantly faded. The peeling solution can tend to irritate my skin in dry winter months so I recommend a heavy moisturizer afterwards. They provided food, showed a presentation on unrealistic beauty standards (plastic surgery, photoshop, etc), then fostered a discussion on insecurity. Super useful to an audience of impressionable students. Also a great way to build brand loyalty while launching their diversity/body positivity campaign. I personally don't fault the strategy as they provided so much value.

    Omg! Wow thank you for this! Somewhere in the middle of your amazing explanation I realized I experienced this exact situation. I dealt with horrible acne as a kid for years but was never able to really fix it despite having a dermatologist. The main thing she would recommended to me was the Extremely expensive ($99) luxury moisturizer called Journee cream. I feel like she must have been a rep for that brand as she never educated me on healthy skincare!

    I can't find any articles about the neutrogena light mask being made to break. How was this proven? Where did you get that information from? I'm wanting to look into it further.

    I use their 2% salicylic acid spot corrector. It gets rid of a lot of acne, but not all of it, so I paired it with retinol & niacinamide. I also use their alcohol free toner because it's like $3 & I'm not gonna spend a lot of money on something as simple as a toner.

      Are you using the salicylic acid and retinol both at night? Be careful not to fry your skin! Acids and retinols aren’t typically mixed because it can lead to hypersensitivity❤
