Matt, how utterly empowering is to nail a tremendous solo and see/hear the crowd react with minds blown? While I like #2 better from a 'holy shit' standpoint, #1 fits the song better.
2nd solo has a few of the new licks & patterns you’ve been culminating while the first sounds more like what we saw on the madness of many tour (still incredible). Those one hand-per Tom rolls from the 2nd solo are seriously insane 🔥
I am a tama guy myself.. I tried to order a star bubinga kit with a Viking burst finish and asked if they could leave off the burst which would have been very nice but they said they wouldn’t do it for me so I stuck to my star classic bbs in white oyster. Sonor was my second choice but they didn’t do bubinga at the time.. I will look at this kit you are talking about.. I bet it’s awesome..
Such a privilege to witness this man play drums. I’m a huge Rush fan, Neil Peart was my favorite drummer. But Matt is taking the cake in real time, for me.
I had so much fun at the chicago concert...great energy and ridiculous drumming from you. Wish you guys would swing through more often (or do 2 shows)!

For me te second solo ,but, the part after the solo,I prefer the one you play after the first solo...that use of the splash and stax...is more “melodic”....no word....IMMO. Hope to see you in Italy 🇮🇹

Love the locked in feel of the first one but I really appreciate the Virgil Donati-ish movement across the toms in the 2nd one.
