@@fahriddrums4959 Same here, i don't get it
don't look too deep into it guys it's a joke
@@EBjeebies1081 Yes, just like Fahrid's comment was a joke.
@@lperseusl ? tf are you on about
Ah my favourite time signature: 124/13
Perfect lmao
When Matt came to our planet, he was like: "yo what are the physical laws here? ... laaaame!"
..so this video is a form of physical education?
@@TunnelJumper Haha.
@@TunnelJumper I guess it's a way of entertaining the new wave of babies that come after Matt.
Arithmophobia - the fear of music in 4/4
What if I told you... this is actually 4/4 (at least the beginning)
Yes you are right > it's greek and it means excactly what you said :-)
+Parth G they are coming to my city in just a few months. I'm so pumped. I really hope I get the chance to talk to Matt and just ask him "how".
There are many 4/4 measures lol
This song is almost all 4/4 dude.
does arithmophobia mean fear of having the same time signature for longer than 30 seconds
misterdumadre its 99% 4/4 with one bar of 9/8 actually
misterdumadre I think it's actually the fear of NOT having any rhythm, thus "un"-"rhythm"-phobia
Sorry for excess seriousness, loved your comment haha
Henry Lehtovirta haha, you're fine, just wish the other two people got the sarcasm
It's greek and it meand the fear of numbers
We know, it's sarcasm.
So many ghost notes. That snare is h a u n t e d
He's pretty much the Tosin Abasi of drums.
Axl N wrong, tosin is the matt garstka of guitar ;)
obviously michael jordan is the matt gratska of basketball
He's the Javier Reyes of drums
Arda Gürcü Tosin Abasi is Jimmy Hendrix from math/prog metal.Matt is like Portnoy from DT
I wonder what it would be like if they were in a band together.
Not even ghostbusters could stop these ghosts...
Massively underrated comment there dude! Merry Xmas 🍻 🤘
Terrible. I love it
They're afraid of these ghosts...
Why do I keep doing this to myself? Every time I'm like "Hey, Matt Garstka in a new video", and a few minutes afterwards I'm drowning in a sea of my own tears thinking how meaningless I am
No, it's okay, I was half joking. Just pointed out how much I appreciate Matt and his playing. :-)
A+ I'm shocked at your accuracy on articulating life.
Based on a comment reply I've seen elsewhere, Matt would be the first person to tell you: "We've ALL gotta keep pushing on, brother!"
When Matt hits a cymbal he does that chewing thing old people without teeth do
That's how he keeps time, with his teeth.
Matt "dentures" Garstka
Shout out to the crew who shot and edited this. I love how there isn't any shaky cam or unnecessary effects. It was all about the playing and that is good! This is how you shoot a drum play-through.
TX - 130 admittedly the Xpro2 makes me a little uncomfortable but other than that heck yeah
wish there was more of the footwork though
My left hand can't handle this video
LOL
Me neither. Point is I'm a lefty
what the fuck
ay
Look how tight the wear circle on his snare is... robotic dude.
dawsonw128 noticed the same shit...unbelievable
dawsonw128 holy shit
dawsonw128 i wouldnt say robotic... maybe precise
I was gonna post a question like...: How many times a week does this mans "heads" need changing?
@@musicfan8867 well if hes gonna hit the exact same place everytime..
I thought I was good at ghost notes... shit.
Actually Dave Weckl and Matt Garstka play each others' ghost notes... as ghosts.
you make me chuckle :D
Abnel Gray every drummer thinks they are good or at least decent, that is until we see Matt Garstka
Can you explain a ghost to.me?
@@RaynP or Luke Holland.
I gotta get some of that gum he chews while he plays.
lul
you win
he chews 5 gum to stimulate his senses
h o w d o e s i t f e e l t o c h e w 5 g u m
That's his signature thing. Just like Matt Halpern cannot play drums without a V
This has to be flagged as sexual content
18+ Only
I have watched the Ectogenesis playthrough at least 50 times and I know I'm gonna spam the shit out of this one. It's extremely generous of you to release two playthroughs already.
This dude's honestly insane
The fact that he makes *this* look so easy pretty much solidifies him as damn near t h e best modern metal drummer out there
Jmb15 I put Blake Richardson before him, but Matt is a close second.
Fuck yeah Blake, he also makes the crazy stuff he plays look so easy. Not to mention the fact he probably he has most of that stuff committed to memory. That's a feat of it's own.
@@mmatthews90 no way. Blake Richardson isn't anywhere near as good as Garstka. Garstka is God. To each their own though.
Matt would have difficulty playing Blake's chops. Of that I am sure. I mean they are my two favorite drummers so it's not like I'm saying Matt isn't great.
If you haven't watched this then you need to: ua-cam.com/video/JUI75SqcnSM/v-deo.html
Personally, I think Darren King is the best modern drummer, but Matt is a *very* close second. Dan Mayo is very close in third, too. But hey, that's just my opinion.
That ride looks like a piece of art -- I wouldn't even want to hit it!
true :DD
Relic [art] maybe, but made to be struck regardless.
Having 10 brains is cheating
If he plays something wrong he must be like: "Oh, holy crap, I played accidentally in 4/4"
Tosin says about this song its actually 4/4 with a lot subdivisions and displacments, sure as you hear and count intro.
I can't believe he released another video. He's pretty strict on his content normally!
Might as well call him a Ghostbuster, with those notes, damn!
The china deserves to have its own mic !
This China is cool, but have you seen his Equilibrium Signature China? THAT is perfection!
sin-gu-lar-i-ty (noun):
A point at which a function takes an infinite value, especially in space-time when matter is infinitely dense, as at the center of a black hole or in the studio with Matt Garstka.
I see ghost notes !!! ALL THE TIME
I feel like this album ages the best out of all their records so far. Something so unique about the album's aesthetic, allowing space for incredible musicianship while maintaining some really inspired and artistic songwriting. Something is more emotional about the record as a whole to me.
I agree, even after Parrhesia got released and I’ve heard it a dozen times already, but still, The Madness of Many has a special musical vibe that is incomparable.
My goodness the talent God has blessed you with is out of this world.
i always get way excited when you upload new videos. I love watching you play.
Maybe it's because I'm really high but watching how matt plays the drums helped me to see that their music is much more simple but more complex at the same time.
Thanks for uploading! Now i can finally play this 100% perfect!
YES!
More of these!
So inspiring!
Dear Matt, thank you so much for give us another play-through!!!. THIS IS SICK!. You are a SICK musician!!!
Loved to see you guys here in Brazil! Great show! Come back soon.
It is quite justice that AAL's virtuoso guitarist and bassist are equally teamed with a genius of a drummer. AAL for life!
Incredible ! So glad I bought this lesson ! Thank you it's amazing.
Dude is a machine! Truly gifted!
This is amazing Matt! The lessons and playthroughs are so freakin' amazing at all!
This guy is not real...
this is one of the most beautiful thing I've seen in my life. thank You.
No ghost notes were missed during the making of this video
Total different language perspective with music. Brilliant!!! Truly gifted talent.
This is beautiful.
listened to this.. silence for 5 minutes..standing ovation.. masterpiece drumming here, wow.
the cymbals has Garstkaphobia
this video is another reason why he's simply the best :D
omfg yes I've been waiting this song is crazy
This blows my mind - I wish I was a drummer so I could FULLY appreciate just how insane this is!
He's too damn good for this universe.
One AAL song = the notes of two complete AC/DC shows
Matt killed it again as always but also THAT DRUM SET THO UMF
Worth every damn penny
All the wasted hours trying to figure out this song. I cried when I saw this video.
Superlative stuff man.
100 bucks to the first person to count all the ghost notes on the snare. *
*offer not valid for Matthew Garstka
* buys the official transcription for 25 bucks , wins 100 bucks .
kukumundi its total of 10457 ghost notes start till end...now where is my 100 bucks dude 😃
sou rce no way you counted that 😂
@@jacobpotts7954 😂
Matt will you adopt me? Then I will be the son of a god. Thanks.
I could watch this for hours
To me, The craziest part is remembering all these changes. Almost every bar is different!
Wow =) Awesome, best thing I bought in 2017
Let's see who bought the lesson~
He bought the lesson? All the playthroughs are on youtube, unlisted though. So only the people who purchase have access. Matt was just generous and made Ectogenesis and Arithmophobia available for free
I hope this was not a lesson because I can't learn anything just from it :(
all you need to know is in the music itself and watching his sticking really
Diego González obviously there is more to it than just the playthroughs. Watch his recent UA-cam video and go to his website. He breaks the songs down, sheet music, tips/tricks and more.
Diego González break everything down 1-4 bars at a time its the most efficient way to transcribe and internalize everything. Time consuming but the end result is very rewarding.
I can not wait to buy this!
I love how he has a specific face for each part of the drums
I'm gonna watch this at least 50 times.
Love the look of the ride, china and stack.
Feel like i need a tetna shot :D
Super job....super inspirant...merci
How am i seeing comments from a month ago if this was a few hours ago. Regardless, amazing Matt. stellar playing, as always.
REAPER Drums Because this play through, and others, were made available when we bought his lessons
I think they're referring to a UA-cam bug where comments on a video that's just been posted will have the wrong time stamp on them. I suspect this has something to do with global time difference.
Phoontang its not a bug and has nothing to do with time difference. that just wouldnt make much sense would it. what most likely happened is that the ones who bought his lessons a month back got access to all these videos, BUT they were unlisted, so only people with the given link could watch them. once you change it to the public setting from the unlisted setting, it becomes public and thats why you can see comments from that far back
Russel Nguyen correct.
I gotcha, thanks.
I don't always add the bell button when I suscribe to people's channels..... But I couldnt bring myself not to! I want to watch and bear every Damn video! He's a genius!
Professor Gartska - "Alright class after you pass Physical Education we will move on to Arithmophobia! 🤓
Class - "🤯😫😭"
and this folks is why it is awesome to be the drummer
Hard work and Talent
that pause in between those ghost notes and the trash cymbal shows how mature of a player he is
the ending is, in my opinion, the most fun to play
That's one of the deadest snares I've ever heard.
I've seen full length feature films with lower production quality than Matt's playthrough videos.
Mind=blown.
that kick drum in the mix is out of control
Matt is on the Ghostbusters' watch list because he practically breathes ghost notes
I love that part where he goes "boom boom t-boom b-ka um pow boom-boom t-boom boom b-ka"
I deeply believe that Matt is an omnipotent god that revealed himself to us to flex on the limits of the human body.
Yuuuuuuuuussssssss... More please.
So the series is the madness of Matt. If you put that into abbreviations it's the mom (the madness of matt.) And arithmophobia is the fear of numbers. This is my favorite piece of music out of all the songs he played in this series. :)
Ghost note hot left hand is totally locked step with his right foot. Seamless!
All those Ghosted doubles on the snare made my brain fall out
God he's so fluid as he plays
I love you Matt ❤
he's a fucking drum god, Praise Matt Gartska
That snare sounds incredible Jesus
FINALLY!
Awesome
Matt Garstka! the drum beast
Perfect name..
How many brains are leaving in Matt's head ? I can't understand anything but it seems perfectly clear for is mind. One more Incredible play through from him !
six stroke roll of doom
Good. Glad to see I'm not the only one who puts on weird faces with my mouth when I play. Now i just need to learn how to play all those polyrhythms and odd time signatures...
YES!
Those fucking cymbals... Gorgeous.
Matt’s a groove machine
I mean that action at 5:50 dude!
Look at the perfect marks on the snare drum... Same spot EVERY TIME
I like the beginning the electric type sound
Holy shit that‘s fire!
